Quality Construction Reviews (35)

I sold this business over 2 years ago and the first time I heard about this incident was on January 31.2017. I immediately called the number provided to me by [redacted] (current owner) at 650[redacted] and left a voicemail asking for a return call and never received a call. I then called around to...

find out what happend and was able to track down my former Operations Manager [redacted] told me that he had take the permit to the building department and handed it to the counter manager [redacted] and was told that he would final the permit (he made notes on the plan).  [redacted] did not final the permit and is since no longer at the department. I then called the inspector of the job [redacted] and he directed me to [redacted] the senior building inspector. [redacted] responded to my email saying that to final the job he would need a site plan and a note saying that the area was non-buildable. When we pulled the permit we had already submitted a site plan that said the area was non-buildable so I was confused what he was asking for. I responded and asked for clarity. He did not respond. I have responded again and am awaiting a response.
I feel I have addressed this issue in a timely manner given the date to which I received the information.  This seems to be a simple paperwork issue and should be easily resolved. I have not been able to go to the building department because I live in Los Angeles but I am willing to make the trip if that is what [redacted] wants.
I'm not sure why [redacted] did not return my call but I am eager to resolve this for him

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Sincerely,
[redacted]To whom it may concern, you have not talked to my husband therefore you do not know what happened. He called 3 times today and he said I'm a lying bh. I have never been talked to like that. He did say he was going to take my house and put a Lein on it I am not from this country and I have never heard those terms. Obviously you are working with them because if you weren't you would know that they have had numerous complaints of insurance fraud with the elderly. I have hired a corporate Attourney and I can prove what I told you is true and you basically said it did not happen and you are writing me off as if I don't matter. Do your homework and Google this company. What they are doing to me is what they are doing to hundreds of elderly people. If I have to be the one to put this fraud out there since you won't, so be it. I just think it's going to look good for you siding with these con artists without even investigating me and my husband. Just so you have the facts. They were paid by my insurance company all that they were ever entitled to. Typically the insurance would pay half now and rest when completed but I didn't know that so he asked for all the money and I gave it to him. Now ask me if he finished any of the jobs he got paid for!!! No he didn't. So how is he going to ask me for more money when he got paid already and he has not done half the work!! I don't know what you are doing over atRevdex.com but if 100 people are saying the exact same thing it does not take a rocket scientist to know there is legitimacy to the story. Thank you for helping you are making America proud! After this all goes to court and these con artist go to jail I will remember to show the news the email you just sent!

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:We are still waiting to be presented a bill for our roof.  We met our new project manager [redacted] who came to a meeting with no bill after we requested he do this.  This meeting was July 29th.  On August 1st I called my insurance and they reported they had settled on the bill for the roof.  The insurance agent also told me she would contact Quality herself regarding the above. NO response from Quality at this point.  We again told [redacted] that we are not canceling our gutters, we are just waiting for the completion of the roof project.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  First, I was told of this policy after I bought the part, installed it, & realized it was no good.  When I took it back, I was notified of the policy.  As far as handling it, there is no way to hook this part up wrong.  No battery on saw to short out part, 2 bolts to hold it in place, & one ground wire. They say in response they can not test individual parts - I told them I had the complete saw in the car.  They said it was going to cost $45.00 to test it & if it was bad, I would have to buy another ignition coil.  That is a no brainer, one coil 80 plus dollars, test 45 dollars, another coil 80 plus dollars.  I was told by the service dept. that it was their business to work on saws, so they want people to bring the equipment to them rather than someone else.  Also, one individual said there could be a hole in the piston causing it to heat up & burning up the coil.  I would like to see one of them start a one cylinder engine with a hole in the piston.  This part was installed & it never started the engine.  I have repaired small engines for over 35 years, I do know what I am doing.  I do not expect anything else from them.  I have all ready written it off.  Just want the management to know what I was told.
Regards,
[redacted]

It seems there may have been a clerical error on the billing for  this file.  I have taken a look at this personally and do see a discrepancy in the first amount billed.  Rather than go back and forth and in an effort to show sympathy on first error the company will be writing off...

remaining balance to resolve this issue.  We have adjusted the amount and will be sending out a zero balance invoice to [redacted].

I stayed in contact with [redacted] once or twice a week. The owner wanted to buy the flooring materials, I contacted them the room sides is 12' wide x 30'long and how many boxes they needed. The problem occurred when I went over existing tile with [redacted] panel,[redacted] didn't like the results. In the contract says go over existing floor n tiles.[redacted] argued with me for twenty minutes to remove the [redacted] panel n remove existing tile. It is an extra, he felt that I should do it for free. We finally come to agreement on price.[redacted] wanted a verbal price on opening up wall 12' long install beam and remodel other room,I couldn't start the job as I am six to eight weeks out.[redacted] got up set, they want it done right away but I was too busy n here we are.

I would like the Revdex.com to be aware that we have been doing everything possible to resolve an issue with this customer.  I believe this complaint is out of the purview of Revdex.com due to the fact that the company is now seeking legal action as explained by Mr [redacted]'s complaint.  He is aware...

of the upcoming civil suit as he has already received our intent to lien.  Please note he is in violation of contract for several reasons: 1. Term #3 under our terms and conditions clearly state a 50% deposit and 50% due at completion of each trade( as of now the company has not received any payment) 2.  Term# 12 under our terms and conditions states if there is a problem due to workmanship Quality must be allowed to come out and inspect and correct the problem (Mr [redacted] has failed to allow the company to do that) 3.  Term # 15 under our terms and conditions clearly state that final payment shall not be held while waiting on final inspection(Currently the city of Denver is 3-4 months behind on inspections and as a large business Quality cannot build 3-4 months of projects without getting paid) Please find the attached contract with terms and conditions. Please understand we have been doing everything possible to get this resolved but our hands are tied when a customer will not allow progress to move forward.  That is why the company has filed lawsuit to compel [redacted] to allow progress to complete work and get paid per contract terms.

As I mentioned before this is going a legal route unfortunately for everyone

We actually use a very reputable marketing company to fly our banner.  Im sure they follow faa regulations as they fly multiple banner for multiple different companies

WE are still in negotiations with the insurance company and cannot provide a final bill into the expediting process has been completed.  Once we have final numbers approved we will be sure to get to Mr. [redacted]

I have already spoken to this customer and have this situation handled before the complaint came in.

This complaint is not a valid complaint due to the fact that this situation was taken care of and Ms. [redacted] did come into our office and pick up an [redacted] gift card and said she was "going to go to lunch with friends."  We sent a gift card to this consumer on two occasions and she said she...

had never received.  She 100% came into the office as I had witnessed my Office Manager handing her the card.  Ms [redacted] is elderly and I do not believe she has filed this complaint I feel her daughter has.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Please add your rejection comments below.
 1.  [redacted] said "We agreed to work on the basement two or three days a week." [redacted]/[redacted] response:  This is a lie.  [redacted] (quality construction) has agreed to finish the job in 2 weeks. Starting March 1st, and completing by the time I go back to work from maternity leave (3/16).  After 1 month, then 2 months.  [redacted] was hard to reach, hard to get in touch with him through regular text or phone call.  I had to use my 2nd and 3rd line from my work (numbers he did not recognize), and he picked up these calls right away as he did not know it was us calling.  From March 1st - May 11th.  2 months and 11 days.  He has not even started on the major part of the job which is to finish the "unfinished" part of the basement. 2. [redacted] said " I had to sand around twenty new recess lights." [redacted]/[redacted] response: This is again, not true!  We only have 6 recess lights down there, this is not a big room.  3.  [redacted] said "Home owner wanted me to install 24 x 24 sub plane floor call [redacted] core from [redacted], on basement floor is 12 ft wide by 30 ft long.I sealed [redacted] core with [redacted] vinyl adhesive cover with thin layer of plastic for moisture barrier.I installed [redacted] plastic underlayment cover with [redacted] vinyl planking 25 year warranty from manufacturer which [redacted] picked out from [redacted].Installed new per prime base board all around room and painted one coat of [redacted] paint.  The total cost with labor, materials n disposal is $5,550.00 six days to install  $1,600 in materials"[redacted]/[redacted] response:  [redacted]Core panel was in the contract.  No surprise here.  [redacted]'s installation of the subfloor and floor was completely wrong.  He poured adhesive directly on [redacted]Core.  Worse... he left the floor with glue for 2 weeks without showing up at my house to fix it.  I had to call Home Advisor to get him in my house so he can do something about the glue.  The glue was not drying and my cat was stuck on it, almost lost a foot.  He came back and covered [redacted]Core and glue with a piece of plastic.  There was no gap left at the edges of the subfloor and floor. The gap is needed at all obstacles, so when temperature changes, the floor can expand and shrink.  The underlayment [redacted] used later was also incorrect.  Manufacturer instruction for installation is to have Plywood underlayment.  [redacted] used plastic.  The Vinyal Plank flooring also says clearly on the instruction that they should not be installed on top of plastic, needs to be top of 1/4 inch plywood.  Upon Manufacturer inspection and 3rd party contractor inspection.  The floor had to be completely redone.  [redacted]'s floor buckled within 2 weeks due to the incorrect underlayment and no proper gap was left.  when weather got warm, the plank started to become extremely tight and started to buckle.Manufacture inspection says that [redacted]'s installation has taken the technology our of their product.  Gap around the all obstacles must be created or we have to install vents.  Also plywood underlayment is needed.  I had a new contractor redo our floor because we do not have confidence that [redacted] can a good job.  We had told him many times that his installation was incorrect.  I even sent him a video of how to install the floor.  He ignored our concerns.  New contractor we hired ended up cutting the subfloor and the actual floor to create the gap around all walls and obstacles.  They also installed 1/4 inch plywood on top of the [redacted]Core, and redone the floor.  Total cost we spent to fix [redacted]'s work:  1050 labor + 400 material = 1450 3. [redacted] Said " I removed existing railing n carpet on stairs to install red oak railing, painted white [redacted] paint from [redacted].There are twelve to fifteen steps with two baluster in each step n four balusters in the wider step. The total cost with labor, materials n disposal is $1200.00" [redacted]/[redacted] response:  This is again, not true. The railing [redacted] gave us was not oak,  I had a 3rd party inspection, which the railing he gave us was not even meant to be used as a Standalone railing.  The railing he gave us was meant to be used against a wall.  It is very dangerous to use this type of railing as standalone railing because it won't hold people."  This post a serious danger for my children. Exact wording from inspection "Flooring and handrail were poorly installed.  If floor is not fixed it will be damaged.  Leaving spacing around the room needs to be done with all laminate flooring and subfloor and should be know by contractor.  It is also clearly displayed in the instruction.  The subfloor also needs plywood to lock it together, without it he only did half of the job.  Then the WORST part is a weak and lose railing.  There is no way it could support anyone if it is needed.  It should be better leave it out than letting people think it is okay to use"Also, the spindle [redacted] installed, gap between them were really big, not up to code.  My children can fit their head through them.  We had to completely re-do the railing and spindles.  Total cost labor + material $800Also [redacted] removed the existing carpet on my stairs, but did not give us a new one.  Stairs were left with exposed nails.  We asked him many times when he can put carpet on, his response to us as "I called my carpet guy and he was not calling me back,  This had been going on since 3/17.  We finally got a new contractor to put down the carpet beginning of June. 4.  [redacted] Said "I removed two existing flush panel doors saved existing frame , installed two six plane panel doors with new hardware n one wall door one inch thin trim out. The total cost with labor, materials n disposal is $650.00"[redacted]/[redacted]:  This is another one... The double door [redacted] installed cannot even close!!  What are the point of doors if we cannot use them?  They are not functional. They sit on top of each other when try to close it.  We had to redo the doors (had to cut them to fit).  Also notice the doors were so cheap, they were made of cardboard..  We are better off with our old doors..  So this is a breakdown: Following work [redacted] did.  But most of them we had to re-do because you did a such poor job.1. Painting of the game room 2. Subfloor installation of the basement  (re-done by home owner) 3. Vinyl Plank instillation of the basement (including trims)  (re-done by homeowner) 4. Railing installation. (re- done by homeowner) 5. installed doors (double door re-done by homeowner) 6. installed shelving  Following work [redacted] did NOT do: SO if [redacted] already spent most of the money, how would he even complete rest of this job?  [redacted] only did 1/3 of the total job. The work that [redacted] has not start yet is the most complicated part of this job, which includes electrical work, building and completing a new room. Work on the contract but [redacted] did not do.1. purchasing of the carpet and installation of the carpet2. Electrical wiring of the TV. hang new screen tv install electrical plug 3. New office room install 2x4 stud4. r13 insulation on foundation wall5. Install half inch sheet rock on walls 6. three coats of joint compound on seems n screws holes7. Install three coats of paint on new walls8. Install r 30 insulation in ceiling cover with 2x4 drop ceiling.9 Install new door for electrical panel10.  Install two recesses lights in new office.11. Install water proofing Dry lock on foundation walls.12. Install new OAK Railing  (what you gave us was not oak)13. Subfloor installation of the new office14. Floor and trim installation of the new office  [redacted] only did 1/3 of the total job, so he should not take 1/2.  Here was need $2000 back[redacted] did such horrible job, we had to redo pretty much everything.  [redacted] needs to refund us the money we paid to fix his mistakes, and buying new material $2500.  [redacted]'s work was so poor, communicating with him does not work as he won't return our calls.   We are not confident that he can fix his own mistakes, that is why we hired a new contractor to fix everything.  [redacted] is unprofessional, he brings his dog to my house without asking for permission, while my cat was very scared of, and my daughter has a pet allergy  (However, we did not mind it.. we love animals, we were fine with it if he want to keep his dog in my house).    [redacted] used foul language in front of my young children, which this is unacceptable.   We ask [redacted] to kindly give us our refund.    Regards,
[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  This wasn't what I was told at the beginning and my experience with Quality Construction Inc. overall was very unsatisfactory!  It was a very long and stressful process to get my roof and gutters done!  I am hopeful that their service will improve soon!
Sincerely,
[redacted]
