Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/05/01) */
Attached is AEP Energy's response to the above case

A few years ago I had a contract with *** *** EnergyWhen the contract ended I signed up with a new energy company only to receive a letter from AEP energy stating that I had a contract with them because they had acquired *** *** energy and that my contract with them had automatically restartedSince I never received a letter from *** *** I did not end the contractI had no idea AEP had bought *** ***In order to avoid a lawsuit I resigned with AEP for a term of months with the assurance that if the supplier would watch the rates and reduce my rate when the rates went downMark, supposedly from AEP, 614-*** ext ***, assured me that I could call him anytime if I had a problem(that number is no longer in service) Anyway I am stuck in a bogus contract that I was duped into getting intoAEP is unscrupulous at best and down right fraudulent

The response by AEP Energy was just a
direction to send my complain to its affiliate AEP OhioWhen I went to submit my complaint on the Revdex.com website and entered the nearest zip code to my location, I was sent to AEP EnergyTherefore, I can only place a complaint to AEP EnergyRather than pass *** my complaint for them to improve their payment services, they choose instead to say basically it is someone else's problemI still do not wish any personal, direct compensation, merely that the company recognizes the difficulty it raises

Each company is blaming the other and no one will...

assume responsibility. Other customers need to be aware of the underhanded billing practices that are occurring with these companies and how they do not have any customer service since they just blame each other and leave the customer hanging.

They continue to point to another and that entity points to them. No one will accept ownership. I've been a customer for many years and never late and they treat their good customers like this? Unacceptable. Others need to know of their bad practices.

They claim that I do not have an account with them. I...

have an account with AEP Ohio and it is not possible to file a Revdex.com complaint directly with AEP Ohio; the only address that can be selected is AEP Energy's address.
AEP Ohio has the following addresses (which are not selectable when filing a complain):
AEP Ohio
PO BOX XXXXX
[redacted] OH XXXXX-XXXX
[redacted] AVE SW
[redacted] OH XXXXX
This seems to be a tactic for them to avoid having to deal with any complaints. If you look back through some of the other Revdex.com complaints there are other people pointing out the same issue.

I have already tried contacting AEP Ohio directly prior to filing this complaint and they are unwilling to resolve the issue. AEP Ohio and AEP Energy are both subsidiaries of AEP (reference http://www.aepenergy.com/blog/what-is-the-difference-between-aep-energy-and-aep-... and since only AEP Energy is on Revdex.com, it is reasonable to expect somebody to get this complain forwarded to the appropriate parties at AEP Ohio. I have tried calling AEP Ohio's customer service and they will not escalate beyond a supervisor.

While it was so kind for AEP to finally reach back...

to me, I want to point out that this was my first initiated correspondence of any kind from them. I had problems from the start and no one bothered to reach out to me. They copied my incorrect acct number, NOT me! They never contacted me. I had to call numerous times! And they never sent me any correspondence that my rate was changing. They automatically re enrolled me in a plan almost double what I was paying! That's illegal! They never got my permission to do this. And I know I enrolled for one year not until may! There are plenty of other reputable honest suppliers our there. I suggest no one ever use AEP. They lie and do not care about their customers! They lost a customer for life!

AEP needs to learn how to inform and communicate with customers! The fact remains that they threw me into a very high variable rate without my knowledge or consent during a time period where people use more electric, summer months. My bill nearly doubled due it aep's negligence! I am glad and thankful that I am not a customer anymore. Buyer beware of their unethical tactics!

This company is a scam artist. said no termination fees for 12 month contract. When I signed up, got contract in mail with 120.00 early termination fee. Tried calling to cancel contract same day and was told I had to wait till contract comes in mail to cancel. False advertising!!!!

I paid half my bill this morning. Then proceeded to drive to town and put the rest of the money in the account to pay the bill and keep the electric on. I did not have the funds till late last night. I do run a month behind because of a heart attack setting me back and the $400+ that it runs a month in the winter. I called AEP to let them know it would be an hour and it would be paid and to hold off that long. I waited for the funds to be on the account and was calling it in when the guy showed up and started shutting off the power. I asked him to hold off 10 minutes and he wouldn't have to shut it off. He replied that if I could have it paid by the time he pulled it, he would leave it on. Then shut it off. I am furious! So I called AEP and was told sorry. (That lady was nice)Now they are demanding a turn on fee!!! I don't have that amount. So I am to go without electric. All because that guy was such an [redacted]. He was not polite and refused to give me his name or ID number!!!!! He said the company knew who he was. When I called back I asked to file a complaint and was told it had been emailed and they would contact me.
These corporations do not care at all about the people. They allow their people to be rude!

AEP Energy has me locked into a 2 year contract that I DID NOT sign. When I called they stated I did a third-party verification. Something crooked has happened as I do NOT remember making the call and would never lock in for 2 years. I just got off the phone and they refused to listen to my concerns or to do anything. This company is shady. Stay away from them.

This is to warn people of AEP Energy... I used them as my energy supplier and was told that I would receive notification prior to my contract being up. Well, I did not.. I haven't worked since 2011 and have no personal income. This month, my bill more than doubled because of the shady practices of AEP... this was quite a blow and again, because I have no income and sought out the assistance of LHEAP, I now have to borrow money to pay the bill. They didn't have a problem sending me the contract upon the initial conversion but all of a sudden, during the winter month has conveniently not sent me the notice as promised. It is a shame that while trying to keep my bill low due to deregulation, I'm faced with more than I would have paid for my electric company to supply the energy. Buyer and customer beware.

An average of 35kWh per day (135,628/3,918) for 18...

months (548 days) equates to 19,180kWh, or $191.80 at $0.01/kWh, not $170. A check issued to me or a credit issued against the AEP Energy account are the only acceptable forms of settlement, not a [redacted] gift card since it cannot be used to pay the bill they send me. The remittance must be for a total of $250 due to the inconvenience caused me, the time and effort required to even get a response from AEP Energy, and the emotional distress the BREACH of contract has caused.

Unacceptable form of payment. I've constantly informed AEPEnergy that a Prepaid [redacted] card is not acceptable because it cannot be converted to cash. It can only be used for discretionary purchases. To use it to pay a utility bill incurs additional costs, for example, in the form of fees. Plus it must be used before 3/15 or the remaining balance disappears. I am on disability, have very limited income, and need to pay non-discretionary bills. I need a Check or a credit issued to the AEPEnergy account for $250.
That AEPEnergy ignores my request for a Check or Credit to my AEPEnergy account is reprehensible!!

This company, like many energy resellers offer little advantage over [redacted] offerings.

They are quick to compile fees and penalties and then cancel contracts should bills be paid late. We missed a couple payment dates, but otherwise paid our balances. AEP cancelled our contract, demanded full payment and penalties and then sent the account to collections. We eventually negotiated a payoff which was paid in full.

We are again being harassed by a collection company on an account that have been paid and closed for three years.

STAY AWAY!
