Review: The company have agreed to redo my roof for a total of $ 4, 800 .and gave me a writing contract stated step by step what was going to be done , when the job will start , and when the job will be finished but , the company did not honored their contract . The job supposed to start on the week of October 14th 2014 and finished on the same month which is October 2014, but never did the job because first [redacted] the contractor, kept changing the date saying the weather is no good until November 2014 ,then he started asking me for more money to do the job about $ 2000-2200 more when I asked him why the extra 2200 dollars, he said to buy plywood and gutters but he forgot it was already included in the contract . So I asked him to do exactly what was writint in the contrac don't do anything else , and at that time he broke the contract by saying he prefered to give me back my deposit which is $ 840.00 rather than do the job for that price . he said I will received my deposit within 3-5 days and I never received it . I have send him many text messages letting him know that his office did not send me the deposit his answer was : Sorry for the inconvenience . I also sent a letter by certify mail asking for my deposit back and if they don't do it I will take legal action , they still refused to give me back my deposit , and they don't even answer my letter . One time I spoke to the owner of the bussiness about my deposit back in December 2014 , that's when he told me the deposit is nonrefunable ,I was arguering with him telling him I was not the one who broke the contract but them by refusing to do the job for the proposed amount he said he will call me but never did .

Attached are copy of the contract, and some text messages

Thank for your help.Desired Settlement: I just need my refund or deposit back because my roof is now done by an other company

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: In April of 2014 we contracted with Rehab Associates to replace the siding on our home. The individual presented himself as part owner in the company ( [redacted]) and the initial visits were fine. There was an issue of him asking my husband to withdraw $200 and give it to him to give to the workers, to which he stated he would apply to the final price. Unfortunately, my husband complied without my agreement in this deal. The money was not deducted from the final price of the siding. This gentleman also was thrilled to let us know that he had gotten a credit line for $22,000 for my husband and myself. which equaled $44,000. Our home was built in 1935 and definitely needed the siding. Mr. [redacted] made certain that the siding took up all of the $22,000 and also an additional check of $336 + the $200 cash to the employees. My husband wanted to replace the doors on our home and we requested a quote. This same gentleman came to our home with brochures for us to pick out some doors. He quoted us a price and then this is where everything got out of hand. The quote he gave us was incorrect and the price became three times the original price. We then stated that we wanted to pay a certain price so please show us the doors that would meet our needs. He then came to our home and said that he assured us we would get our price however he did not have the pictures of the doors and would make certain we received them prior to beginning the project. We gave him a deposit of $331(stupid I know) and I stated to him that I would not accept the project if the doors were not what we wanted. He agreed. I told him what about this clause stating the contract had to be canceled within three business days, he stated not to worry about it. Well the deal never happened and he refused to speak to us anymore referring us to the President of the company. Again there were problems with the price and we decided not to pursue. They would not honor the verbal contract.Desired Settlement: Although the siding was done and is beautiful I believe that we were taken for a ride and I would like this company to apologize and take ownership of the mistakes that were made by them and mostly this person [redacted]

Response:

In response to this complaint. The customer agreed to a contract for siding, leaders and gutters for $22800 which we helped obtain financing. That job was done and completed to 100% satisfaction.Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] then wanted us to get them doors.Mr. [redacted] is not an expert on the type of doors the customers wanted and admittedly there was some confusion as to the type and price that the doors should be.Originally we charged the customer $1831 for doors that was a gross undercharge as the doors they wanted and insisted on approving were way more expensive. We sent our Door Contractor there to measure and he gave us samples which the customer picked out some that were out of stock. The customer eventually chose some very nice doors for a new contract of $4800.A small deposit was asked for as there was a building permit that needed to be taken out. and the doors were ordered. After three weeks, our supplier advised us that The [redacted] doors were accidentally sold to another contractor. We advised the [redacted]s, and they at this time were angry at all the delays, changes in prices, and told us to forget the whole thing, that they contracted with someone else. They told us that they were happy with the siding and would recommend us for that, but they were very unhappy with our salesman Mr. [redacted], and the whole door situation. We ended the conversation on good terms, and we thought this was the end of it.I am very sorry things didn't go better. There should have been better communication, and sometimes in Home Improvement, things don't always go 100% smooth.Since, the [redacted]s are asking only for an apology, then they certainly have it as we, at Rehab Associates Inc. Pride ourselves on quality work and repeat business from satisfied customers, and we are very sorry things didn't go more smooth. We hope in the future, that they would consider us again it they needed anything else. And I hope that they were satisfied with the doors that they purchased from another contractor.Sincerely,[redacted]PresidentRehab Associates Inc.

Review: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: Although the company has apologized they seem to lay the blame for this mishap on miscommunication. In fact there was a great deal of communication, including a voicemail from [redacted] saying he would return the deposit for the doors. Also there is the matter of the $200 that was given to the workers at Mr. [redacted]'s request. Has he acknowledged that this occurred? The President of this company wants to just, it seems sweep this under the rug. Also we never told them that we had another contractor. In fact they sent about two emails, that I still have, stated that they would be sending [redacted] to premeasure and that he would call. The next thing we heard from the very smug [redacted] is that the second card they had gotten for us with $22,000 was canceled. Did they have it cancelled so that we could not go to another contractor? Regards,[redacted]
