We have had a horrible time working with First Reliance. We heard from them every day and then they went radio silent. Calls to managers have also been ignored. After the only appraisal they could get was twice as much as it should be, we’ve never heard from them again.

I was dealing with Jeffrey Levis in trying to refinance my mortgage on my own. My ex-husband and I had purchase the home together after we divorced and I had hoped to re-finance on my own. I realize divorced people buying a home together is not an every day occurrence but Jeff told me this was no problem, even though I had to repeat information to him constantly and he told me right up until a week before closing everything was great. He tried to coach me on my finances in order to push the loan through even though I was completely transparent to him he continued to hear what he wanted to hear to push the loan through and only after I paid $550 for an appraisal did he tell me my debt to income was too high. This should have all been done before I paid for an appraisal I didn't need. I work for a bank and I was appalled at his lack of customer service skills, I constantly had to tell him not to speak over me and I was honest with my financials and he kept telling me it was not a problem. Until it went to the underwriters and then it was a problem. I will never work with this company again.

I was dealing with Kenneth Joseph Watson...
at first he talks very professional. when he found out I was not signing to the fist person that cold calls me and that I have to shop around, he was bothered.

#1. I was told over the phone by Kenneth I would be paying off all my cc cards but when I read the fine print he left out my highest card to make the numbers look attractive but verbally told me he was covering the full amount of all. and then had his manager call me to try and close the deal only being 20 min into the convo. I dont jump into bed with the first person to flirt.

#2. I have very good credit in the 700's.
he was putting me with a Fha loan paying 4 points so that was almost 30k$ just to get a 3.375% rate.
The only way that would make sense is if I was going to live there the rest of my life.
if I decided to sell in 10 yrs I would take a huge loss cause I would only have paid 10k$ towards my principle.I would lose out on $20k.
finally I told him I was just shopping around with another company he tried to bash the other company. Thats not good sportsman ship I understand he works on a commission but no need to get aggressive and make me feel like I have to sign or die.
finally when I decided to do the right thing and let him know like a gentleman that I was going with another company that is giving me a conventional loan with no points no pmi insurance he starts cutting me off and not letting me speak telling me ive been had and I dont know what im talking about.obviously I do know what im talking about thats why he did not get my business.
if you want repeat customers be truthful. Thats why I decided to go with Envoy
they have earned my business and they were not a cold call.
My beginning experience was good then he got upset that I wanted to shop around.
the other company that I am going with has actually done 2 home loans for me in the past this one will be a refi. they gave me all the paperwork and said if you want to go with the other company compare numbers first and do what your gut tells you. That's what a business person does not get all childish and get aggressive. you will lose alot of business
being that way Kenneth..

I have called and emailed the customer requesting to speak with her on the matter. It's important to note that Reliance First Capital does not perform property appraisals nor does our company receive any part of any appraisal fee. Appraisal fees are paid entirely to an unaffiliated
third-party appraisal company or appraiser. Furthermore, please note that Reliance First Capital has no control over the appraised value of a home

In September 2012 I was contacted by Reliance First Capital about refinancing my second home under the HARP program since I had purchased the home at the worst possible time in 2008. After 2 months of continually sending documents, I experienced a period that there was no correspondence from the associate that I was working with. After not hearing from him for three weeks I contacted Reliance First Capital to discover that the associate was no longer with them and they wanted to begin the process all over since 90 days had passed since the quote of the interest rate and many of the documents submitted such as paystubs and bank statements would have to be resubmitted. I stopped the process as I had no confidence that the process would ever be completed.
FORWARD to June 2014. I was contacted by Reliance again. I told them my story from 2012. I submitted all documents. I was emailed that my mortgage loan had been approved. THEN the associate stopped contacting me after 70 days of non- stop sending of documents and paying for appraisals. My appraisal came in $50,000 OVER the estimate so there was no problem there.
I contacted the manager of the associate that I had worked with and sent more documents and the company set up more road blocks to having a successful closing in a reasonable time.
I wish I had read some of the online comments by their employees before I fell for the pitch a second time. It appears that the person you think is handling your loan is just a sales person, not really a mortgage analyst.
My closing was supposed to be July 24, 2014. I have given up, as of today,September11, 2014.
(The appraiser of my home told me that he had done several appraisals for Reliance First Capital but had never known one to actually come to closing.)
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
I hope my lesson will keep someone else from falling for their pitch.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[While my concerns were in fact discussed and the company did offer to refund a partial amount to me, I am still very unhappy with the way the entire transaction was handled. A full resolution in my opinion would be a complete refund of the appraisal amount. I still felt mislead and that the situation left me in a bad position for further being able to try and refinance my home.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I emailed [redacted] back as follows:[redacted], While I realize that you use a third party for appraisals, they are in fact a company of your choice. When this appraisal was done it listed the square footage of my home incorrectly as well as used comparison values of two low sales. I attempted to work with [redacted] to get the information corrected with the appraiser so that my home was in fact getting a fair appraisal. My home was just appraised slightly over a year ago and home values in my area have not dropped, therefore I found it hard to believe that my home was appraising $13,000 less, according to this new appraisal, than it was slightly a year ago. I felt mislead when applying for this refinance, I questioned [redacted] as to my chances on getting this loan approved, and was told as long as the appraisal came back good, it would be ok. When the appraisal came back ridiculously low, I attempted to get it corrected and after one attempt was completely shut down. Her response was, and I am quoting her email, “[redacted]
