have way too many hidden costs and fees. I want to buy out my A/C unit which is currently a rental for my tiny condo and they are charging me over $9000. Im so glad to cancel All of my services with this *** company.

Hello - I am 100% happy with Reliance ***. Today, I had booked a Service Tech to investigate a noise I thought was coming from my furnace. He called ahead of time to say he was coming and was right on time. He was professional and very knowledgeable. ***. He was outstanding and I can say I've nearly always had the best service from Reliance. He he knew right away that the noise was coming from the inflow vent in my wall. It only happens when the furnace is on and because the vent is on the floor I thought it was the furnace. When the furnace goes into high gear it creates enough air to slightly rattle the intake air flow vent which over time became a little loose. Lee tightened the vent screws and all is well. Thank you Reliance for this experienced technician! Great work!

We had a service person come in for our yearly check up.
During discussions with him, we decided to have Liz contact us regarding replacing our furnace, air conditioner, and hot water heater.
Liz came later that day and explained our options. She is very pleasant and professional.
We are having everything installed next week.

Thank you for your great review. We hope you enjoy your new equipment! ~Haley

Had a water heater rental with a company that was bought out by reliance. As soon as reliance took over, I started receiving constant marketing calls for furnaces, ac, etc. I clearly had my account marked 'do not call' and repeatedly asked them to stop calling before I finally canceled my service. They sell customer information to third party marketing firms and *** customers by having technicians label existing equipment as non compliant I have had my own technicians come out and refute reliance's techs.

I rented a water heater from Reliance home comfort,
the recorded tape at the time of the contract, indicates that my rate will not increase,
I was supposed to be charged $29,
every month
right now they are charging me $35 ,
and there was a problem with the water heater,
the scheduled an appointment, , but the technician never showed,
and they never responded to my emails and feedback

My experience with Kerilee W was a 10. She was on time for appointment and even called ahead. She was knowledgeable and answered all my questions and helped me solve my water hardness issues.
She also went beyond to help me book the hotwater tank appointment.
It was a pleasure to do business Kerilee.

I booked an appointment for a service tech to come out to my house and make a simple repair. We pay a monthly bill with reliance that allows us service to be completed within that cost. I booked the appointment between the hours 4 pm -8 pm at 7:32 pm they called my phone it rang two times and they hung up I returned the call at 7:33 pm. waited on hold for 20 min just to be told that because they could not reach me they would be cancelling my call. I had to wait until the next day to call to escalate this issue. When I called back in the morning they pushed it onto me stating that I didn't have a voicemail service and if I would have answered they were calling to inform me they were running late. I have cancelled my services with them as they are not able to provide them to me in a timely situation.

Reliance Home Comfort Response • Feb 26, 2020

I apologize for the disappointing service experience the customer had with us recently. I have contacted the customer directly so I can further investigate and provide his feedback to the local operations team. ~Haley

I'd requested to cancel my maintenance account with them after I cleared up my remaining balance with them. I was told it was deactivated, then get a bill for an entire year's worth of their "support" a couple weeks later. I was not told there would be any fees to cancel my account with them. ***. I'll take this review down once they cancel that bill too which I'm not getting any service out of.

Very timely and efficient service. Our water heater malfunctioned and a service appointment was scheduled for the same day. The service person was on time and completed the service quite quickly and let us know what the problem was and what was done.

Nice to have no hassle service, done well!

. I purchased a property that has leased equipments from them. When I took over the property I wanted to pay off the lease but was shocked that Reliance calculated the pay off based on the monthly payments till the end of the contract with no discount. This is awful considering that if I pay it off now, they do not have to do any repairs or maintenance work any longer on the equipments, because every time they have to send out a repair person, it will be a cost to them which I feel should be considered when you want to pay off early. Plus, they can reinvest that money in purchasing another equipment.
Secondly, the customer service person I spoke to, told me the pay off for the Water heater is $5163, however earlier on another of their staff told me it was $3428, when I asked why 2 different figures, she told me the first amount is for Ontario residents and because they had quoted me that already, the company will let me pay that. Why are Albertans paying so much more, could Reliance explain?
And lastly, Reliance still want $4000+ to pay off a 2Ton *** air conditioner after the previous owners have paid monthly for 2 years. The retail cost of this air conditioner is between $1500 and $2000.
***. This company is taking advantage of people.

Kerilee W. from Reliance was excellent. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the product, and efficient. I bought the reverse osmosis system and I'm sure I'll be happy with it.

Reliance Home Comfort Response • Feb 10, 2020

Thank you so much for the feedback. I will be sure to pass on to Kerilee!

Kerilee W. is a wonderful salesperson and showed me water purification solutions and the value of having reverse osmosis.

Hello there,
I purchased a home in Hamilton which closed in August 2019. I was informed last minute before releasing my conditions of P&S that the furnace was rented and not owned after having been informed up to that point by the vendor's realtor, that the furnace was owned.

The listing realtor then forwarded me a summary document (dated August 9, 2019) OUTLINING the BASIC TERMS of the rental agreement which was signed between Reliance Home Comfort and the vendor. This document was provided by Reliance as a standard document that they provide for the sole purpose of Purchase and sale situations. We agreed to remove our conditions of S&P and assume the rental contract based on the understanding that the contract which was in place was a rent to own and that we would own the furnace outright upon expiry of the 7 year rental term.

We have since found out that is not the case, that there is a further buyout amount and that the buy out at the end of the 7 year rental term cannot be determined until the time comes.

We have tried contacting Reliance several times to try and re-negotiate the terms of the Agreement based on what we understood and not what was signed by the previous vendor, as we feel that this process of not having had access to the full terms and conditions prior to agreeing to assume the rental contract was *** and clearly not transparent. I have spoken to *** on Aug 20, 2019 (Ref #XXXXXXXX) and *** (Ref # XXXXXXXX). The only information they were able to give was the current buyout amount as of the date that I called and an offer to waive 2-3 months of rental fees, which did not address my primary concerns at all. They also mentioned that it is the responsibility of the vendor to disclose the full contract terms and conditions to any purchaser. But the fact that they (Reliance) were the ones to provide the summary document, puts some of the responsibility back on Reliance, as the assumption is that any purchaser would rely on the information provided on that document when deciding to assume.

We are willing and ready to carry on paying the monthly lease amounts if we can come to a new agreement but have not contacted Reliance since we are unsure of how to proceed and therefore contacting the Revdex.com to see if they can assist us.

Desired Outcome

We are asking for Reliance to consider the terms of the Rental contract as stated in their letter (***) and to include; -NO FURTHER BUYOUT AMOUNT OWING at the end of the Rental term upon expiry 7 years from the original date of installation We are asking this on the basis that it is not explicitly stated in their said letter dated August 9, 2019 that there would be a further buyout amount owing after the Rental Term expires. We would also greatly appreciate if they could honour the offer they extended to waive the 2-3 months of rental fees. We consider this a reasonable request as we are not asking for anything more than what we initially understood based on that letter and hope we can come to favourable outcome. Thank you

Thank you for bringing the customers concerns to our attention. I emailed the customer directly and provided information related to the Rental Agreement assumed with the home purchase. I have advised the customer that we are unable to negotiate the terms of the rental agreement and the customer was advised of the full terms and conditions and the associated buy out costs as well advised that the agreement could not be negotiated on the following dates August 21 2019, August 22 2019 ( agreement was emailed) August 24 2019, September 16th 2019, and October 8 2019. The customer was offered a two month rental credit on October 8th which I have advised the customer we will honour. The customer is welcome to contact me at any time.

Customer Response • Feb 28, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Dear Reliance

1. The transaction for the purchase of the property at ***, Hamilton was completed on August 29, 2019. We were not provided with the assumption documents at any time prior to or on the date of closing. As such, we are not in a position to sign any additional documents after the transaction has closed.

2. As stated previously, we were not provided with the full written terms of the rental agreement in a timely manner and they were forwarded AFTER our release of conditions. Our decision was based on the said document provided by Reliance, which we have included in our previous correspondence.

3. We understand that there have been precedents of other Reliance customers in similar circumstances whereby a lower buyout amount was agreed upon. The purchase, delivery, inspection and installation costs of a NEW furnace and AC of similar capacity would be in the range of $5,500 - $6500. In addition, we have rectified the electrical issues relating to Reliance appliances as identified in our home inspection report at our own expense.

4. In view of the above and to resolve this matter in good faith & expeditiously, we would be agreeable to a current buy out price of $6500 for the existing furnace and AC upon resolution of this matter.

Kindly confirm your acceptance to our good faith proposal. Thank you.

Reliance Home Comfort Response • Mar 11, 2020

As previously advised, we will not negotiate on the terms and conditions of the agreement. As a gesture of goodwill Reliance will provide the two month credit. The customer can contact me directly to have the credit added to the account. The customer is also welcome to buyout the equipment at anytime if they do not wish to rent.

Customer Response • Mar 23, 2020

Due to Covid 19 and various precautions we have to take, we experienced delays in responding to Reliance. We do NOT accept Reliance response. We propose a buy out price of $6500 which is in line with other suppliers / vendors in the market place.

Reliance Home Comfort Response • Apr 01, 2020

If the customer would like to buyout the equipment we will offer a 15% discount on the buyout price as a gesture of goodwill for the amount of $7973 plus HST. If the customer choose to continue renting we will provide an additional month rent for a total of 3 months rental credit. This offer will be available until April 30th 2020 and the customer is welcome to contact me directly.

Customer Response • Apr 12, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Dear Sir

Thank you for your proposed offer. Since our last correspondence, our financial situation has changed. However, I would still like to honour my commitment to you with a buy out price of $6500 today.

However, if you would like us to propose a higher buyout price of $7500, we would like to pay such amount over the next 3 years (ie $2500 each 12 months period starting from the date of acceptance of our offer.

I believe we have been very fair in this discussion and would appreciate your favourable response especially during this uncertain economic times.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Reliance Home Comfort Response • Apr 22, 2020

Our position will not change on what has been offered to the customer. We have provided fair options to the customer. We are unable to complete a buyout over a three year period. We have reduced the buyout offer by 15% and provided an alternate offer of a 3 month goodwill rental credit.

Customer Response • May 03, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Dear Reliance, thank you for your response. IF we were to accept the price of $7973, could you include the following:-

1. a service call (labour and parts where necessary) for the HVAC and AC prior to buy out since the equipment is overdue on its maintenance schedule, including a change of filters.

2. 5 additional furnace filters.

3. Payment will be made within 30 days from date of buy out agreement.

4. This is a full and final settlement and supersedes any prior written or verbal agreements made by Reliance and any other persons relating to the rental of the equipment including but not limited to Furnace, AC and *** thermostat.

Please confirm if you would be agreeable to the above.

Thank you.

Reliance Home Comfort Response • May 06, 2020

The customer is eligible for one full maintenance and inspection per calendar year. The customer is welcome to schedule this service any time prior to the buyout of equipment. We include one filter replacement. We will not provide 5 filters. We will accommodate the customers request for a 30 day payment arrangement from the date the buyout is processed. The customer is welcome to contact me directly. I have also noted the customers account with reference# *** -

Customer Response • May 16, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Dear ***

Thank you for your response. The reason we are asking for additional 5 filters because we are not able to find these specific filters in other retail stores. Would you consider at least giving us 3 additional filters?

Also, how much does each filter cost and which retail store carry these products?

Thank you.

Reliance Home Comfort Response • May 25, 2020

Please email me directly with the size of your filter and I can look into where you can purchase these and average costs. Most filters are available at big box stores like ***, ***, and can be ordered online from ***. We will provide one additional filter at the time of the maintenance appointment and the technician will advise you about replacement and options available to you.-

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
***

Please let me have your direct contact number, email and full name so we can liaise directly via email or phone call.

Just to be clear, the technician will replace the existing filter as part of the scheduled maintenance which has not been done for over a year AND 1 additional filter for our future use.

In addition, upon signing of the buy out agreement, this represents a full and final settlement and supersedes any prior written or verbal agreements made by Reliance and any other persons relating to the rental of the equipment including but not limited to Furnace, AC and *** thermostat.

Thank you.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
In addition to the annual maintenance service of HVAC & AC including replacement of furnace filter (and 1 spare filter), we will make payment of the agreed amount over 2 instalments (1st payment: $4000 and 2nd payment: the balance) as it exceeds our credit card limit.

This payment represents full and final payment and Reliance will absolve us from any liability, directly or indirectly, expressed or implied, against any parties.

Thank you.

Reliance Home Comfort Response • Jun 18, 2020

I have been in touch with the customer directly and we have already made this agreement. The customer is going to get back to me with her availability to have the maintenance completed prior to the buyout-

Sherry and Brady were here today (Feb. 5) to check our rental hit water heater. They also gave me info on a tankless water heater--and the name of their electrician--and advice in when to book our regular home maintenance checkup.
In every way they were professional, friendly and gave us a lot of useful info.
I thank them very much for their visit.

After this visit, I found I was enrolled in a Plumbing Protection Plan which I am totally unaware about it. I don't know who put this on me without my permission. It's so weird... Just made a call to them and hopefully them have cancelled it from me.

Reliance Home Comfort Response • Feb 06, 2020

We have confirmed that the plan will not activate on the account, as the customer has already contacted us directly.

Reliance was fantastic. They came and fixed my furnace fast, trustworthy reasonably priced. I will never call anyone else again. After being left by another company with a broken furnace in the middle of winter and given excuses.

Customer Response • Jan 30, 2020

Email sent - will keep the public posted on the outcome.
I was told I was doing a rent to own contract for my air conditioner for 5 years. I called to find out why my payments were still coming out (5 years later) only to find out I'm on a rental contract and don't actually own the air conditioner. I've paid $5000 already and was just told I have to pay for 2 more years in monthly payments then the unit will be removed OR I can pay $2680 to buy out the unit now, The issue was that I was writing a cheque to cover the cost of the air conditioner and the salesperson convinced me to make monthly payments instead because the cost would be the same and I would receive a yearly check/tune up of the unit if I requested it at no charge. NOPE -- they put me into a rental contract instead of an ownership contract. But because there is a contract I was told 2 days ago "they can't do anything about it".
