Company has called number times (at this time over 7 times) and I have asked them to remove me from the calling list. I am also on the DNC list so I am beyond frustrated that I continue to be called. I have informed this company over and over again that I do NOT want solar or their services.

Renu Solar & Roofing Response • Jun 11, 2020

We don't operate in South Carolina, there is however another company with a similar name. We have never called this person.

RENU CALLS PEOPLE LISTED ON THE DNC LIST TO SOLICIT SOLAR SALES. I HAVE A RECORDING OF ONE SUCH CALL WHERE THEY OPENLY ADMIT TO JUST CALLING PEOPLE IN MY AREA. I HAVE BEEN ON THE DNC SINCE 2006

Renu Solar & Roofing Response • Mar 03, 2020

Any outgoing calls we make are in compliance with all TCPA laws. We currently do not use an auto dialer. Also our records indicate that we had an appointment scheduled with you on 12/09/19 at 10am which was never confirmed. Our outbound agents often call people who have booked appointments in the past that we have not been able to confirm so that we can be sure we are communicating with our valued clients. We have noted our system not to call you anymore.

Customer Response • Mar 04, 2020

I NEVER had any appointment scheduled with this company, have NEVER done business with them. I HAVE a recording and I AM listed on BOTH the FEDERAL and PENNSYLVANIA DNC. - AUTODIALER OR NOT - I AM ON THE DNC SINCE 2006. I am absolutely following this matter through until it is resolved. Their inaccurate lie of an answer that avoided these facts does not resolve this issue.

Side note- if there was "supposedly" an appointment scheduled.....why did the caller in my recording indicate that they had recently done work in my area and were calling other people in this area?????? I have no problem letting anyone hear the recording

I decided to go Solar. Seemed like a good idea. My monthly bill of over 150 dollars a month would be reduced to an 16.00 dollar a month and a loan payment of 200.00. A salesman came out an reviewed my usage to help determine how many panels I would need and where they should be placed. It took some time for the home to be in both my girl friends name and my own. The sales man said they do this all the time but it took forever. However, I was told my panels were going to be placed on one part of my house and they were not. Because of the delay we could not get approval for enough panels to cover the electric bill so now we pay a reduced electric bill and a loan for the panels. The salesman said when we get our refund from the government we could pay then for the rest of the panels and they would install them. When we did our taxes we could not get more money back then we put in and that was not near enough to pay for more panels. We are now thinking we should have never gone solar.

We have tried to reach out to this customer to better understand this. We have left multiple voicemails and will continue to reach out. We stand behind our solar proposals and work hard to ensure our clients are saving money by going solar.

I am very happy with my solar panels that were installed by Renu Solar. I initially talked with a sales rep at a local music festival in York, PA. The rep was friendly and helpful, no pressure. I met with another gentleman later who stopped by with a proposal and costs. He stayed for an hour or so and answered all of our questions, again no pressure. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and professional and the installation of 47 panels took 2 days. I am very pleased with their craftsmanship and professionalism. I highly recommend this company. Thank you for a job well done and for doing what you said you would. (Joe in Hanover)

On Saturday 7/21/2018 salesman Marc M from HomeReNu came to give me a price for solar panels. After an hour with Marc he gave me a price and I said I have to think about it and he said he cant hold the price that he quited me and if I wanted the price he gave me I had to sign a paper to lock the price and I had 5 day to cancel if I didnt want the panels. After he left and on Sunday 7/22/2018 I did some research and talked to my neighbor and a friend who both have solar panels and both said how unhappy they where and my buddy said he had to add nore panels and both times his electic bill was still high and both said they both had water leaks. When I added my phone bills together and figured out what it would cost me after the panels I realized I would be spending $***.00 more a year with solar panels. So on Sunday night I hand wrote a litter since my computer died and on Monday 7/23/2018 I mailed the letter and called HomeReNu and canceled the order and they said ok and sorry I didnt want them. A few weeks later HomeReNu called and said they want to send a tech out to measure my roof and I remineded them I canceled the order and they said it was so they could put it in the files so if I changed my mind everything would be there. A month later I receaved a call from HomeReNu asking for my electric bill and again I told them I canceled the everything on 7/23/2018 and asked for a head supervisor when he got on the phone I told him I wasnt going to send them anything since I stoped the order and he said thats ok he does see I canceled everything and he was sorry about them calling and asking for the copy of the eletric bill. I havent heard anything from HomeReNu again. On Tuesday January 21, 2020 I receaved a litter fro *** Attorneys *** Suite *** Lemoyne Pa ***
stating they represent Direct Building Supplies LLC d/b/a HomeReNu saying I owe them $4,184.20 for breaking the contract. Its been over a year and I never heard and never got a letter from HomeReNu.

It was not us who installed this customers neighbors solar, and our solar showed a first year savings, plus we provide a watertight warranty. This customer was informed that per our Home Improvement Contract and Pennsylvania Law that he had 3 business days to cancel if he were to change his mind. We don't have any records of receiving a mailed cancellation notice. Our records indicate that on 10/19/2018 this customer informed us he would provide his electric bill to us the following day, and that when one of our people spoke with the customer on 11/12/2018 he stated he sent his docs in to us We have kept working on this customers project and obtained all engineer and permits. We don't understand what the customer means about getting a letter from us, since we take care of all permitting and engineering on behalf of the customer.

Great job from beginning to end. Our sales guy was awesome and worked well with us, Renu also replaced our roof which was a seemless experience.

Looking forward to seeing savings and helping the environment. Panels are better looking than what I have seen.

I am proud to give Home Renue solar a five star ranking the customer service that Shannon and Michael both provided was absolutely phenomenal their team of workers came out they were clean neat and organized very very friendly and down to earth they wanted to make sure that everything was taken care of and if we had any questions or concerns on the system I will help promote this company does watch it grow I am very pleased and look forward to working with him in the future to add more panels to my house

It was helpful to find an easy, affordable way to go greener at home.

EXCELLENT SERVICE GOOD LOOKING PRODUCT. EXCITED TO SEE THE SAVINGS AND PERFORMANCE

I am very pleased with services Renu provided me. (roof and solar). When they inspected my roof they told me I needed a new roof and I am very pleased with both my roof and solar install. I am a nuclear engineer and I never thought I would get Solar. I am looking forward to the warmer months when I won’t be getting a bill at all and will actually be getting a credit. I am also looking forward to the $18,000 tax credit I will be getting next year from my roof and solar install as well as some trees I had cut down. Thank you Renu!

We are thrilled that we have exceeded your expectations. Customer experience is one of our top priorities. Please feel free to call or email us at any time. Thanks for the great feedback!

Awesome company, NO pressure sales reps. Up front and self explanatory on the overall cost savings with, the bonus reducing my current electric bill by over half, and using the sun to offset my power. Also, what sold us was the federal tax encientiuves, and the quarterly ULP payouts. Great company of people, have been helping them grow with my over all full satisfaction and word of mouth to the neighborhood. Thanks Home ReNu!!!

I decided to go Solar. Seemed like a good idea. My monthly bill of over 100 dollars a month would be reduced to an 80 dollar a month loan payment. A salesman came out an reviewed my usage to help determine how many panels I would need and where they should be placed. It took some time for the permit to install could be approved so that's not on them. However,
I was told my panels were going to be placed on one part of my house and they were not. The panels they originally supplied me with were not enough to cover my needs, so after some complaining they installed more. They still did not put they panels where they said they would be placed. It seems like this company has a trend of reacting to their mistakes rather than doing what they say they are going to do.
So, it turns out the panels are still not enough to cover my usage. They say I am using more, but with a hotter summer than what I experienced throughout the last year of my ownership, variation should have been taken into account. It was not. I still have a loan of 80 dollars a month on top of a 30 dollar a month electric bill. I guess that's kind of break even?
Also, my neighbor came to me shortly after the install was done to say that the installers asked to borrow a ladder and never returned it. At first this seemed kind of far fetched. What kind of company that does roofing and panel installs would need to borrow something as essential as a ladder from someone? The sloppy way this company does business, I'm not so sure in anymore.
That's my point. Don't go to these guys for Solar. They will not follow through on their promises and seem very reactive to mistakes instead of being proactive to make sure they don't happen in the first place. If I had it to do all over again, I would not trust this business.

Renu Solar & Roofing Response • Nov 14, 2019

Dana thanks for the review. We estimated your Solar PV project would produce 5,887 kwh per year. Your installation is producing 10% more than we estimated for you. Our estimates are based on the electric bills you provide to us, unless our clients tell us differently this is how we based our designs. We installed the system size as per your signed contract. You can monitor the production of each panel through your Enlighten app. If you would like more panels added please let us know, this is usually a simple process. Also as a reminder please change from any third party energy providers back to your main utility so that you are able to take full advantage of net metering. Please feel free to reach out to us.

Renu Solar & Roofing Response • Nov 15, 2019

Dana, we reviewed the electric bills you provided and also spoke to Enphase regarding your consumption and production. We noticed that you are using close to 1 mega watt hour of power in the summer months. This is a big power draw. You can monitor your power consumption and production in the Enlighten App.

I thought solar seemed like a good idea. There was a home show nearby and I decided to check it out. The salesman came over to look over my bills and my house to determine how many panels I would need and where they should go. A engineer stopped by later to validate. All in all, my costs were supposed to go down from near or over 100 dollars a month to about 80 dollars a month, stable (because I was going to be paying a loan on the panels instead of an electric bill)
It took some time for the install, but that was to be expected because the permits take time to generate through the borough where I live. However, when the install was complete, they didn’t put the panels where I was told they were going to go for the best output. That’s the first time I had to call and complain. So they came out and installed extra panels, but they still didn’t put them were they said they were going to put them, but that it would be enough to cover my needs based on my usage.
I’m guessing that they didn’t consider increases in usage based on the weather when the factored my needs because I end up still paying over 30 dollars a month in electric bills on top of the loan I now have for expensive solar panels. When I called them about it multiple times, they tried to put the blame on me even though my only real current draw is air conditioning. Even if my usage was over, why wasn’t that factored in? Oh wait, I asked the salesman about that and he said the amount of panels I would be getting would cover that. Well, it wasn’t.
On top of all that, my neighbor came to me shortly after the install to say that one of the installers borrowed a ladder and took off with it. I thought it sounded kind of strange. Why would a company that does roofing and solar installs need to borrow something as essential as a ladder? After the run around and excuses I got from Matt and his team. I’m not so sure now.
My point is this, maybe there were people who trusted this business. After my experience, I sure do not. The panels were a mistake and now I’m stuck. If I had it to do all over again, I would not use homerenu.

RETRACTION:
Once the owner found out we had less than superb service he was very apologetic and rectified the issues. You have to really appreciate it when the owner of a company reaches out to folks who are not totally satisfied and makes it right. He truly cares about the company and the work they are doing for the community.
I would hire them again in the future if needed.

Terrible roofing job, stay away from this company. They left a mess, shingles in my gutter spouts and window ledges it's been a year and still finding nails and pieces of old roof. My back porch leaking badly, called several times , it has been a year and they still have not fixed and do not call me back. Suppose to be lifetime warranty what a joke !! reported them to Revdex.com.

They did a great job on my solar project and I haven't paid an electric bill in about 2 months. I was skeptical at first but after doing some research I decided to move forward with the no cost option and I am glad that I did. I check the production on my system on a regular basis and best of all PPL will be sending a check to me this year.

Was quoted for shingles on house and garage with rubber roofing on sunroom. We signed for a loan to do 10 yeard. Project manager said they figured could do shingle on all. Roof ing done in one day by subleted men from NJ. They did not do the job correct around the chimney and it leaked. Called company. I could see daylight out from attic. They came at least 4 times after complaining of the poor workmanship with at least 3 different types of caulking and leaving cigarette butts and caulk tube tips on my roof. I still was unhappy with the work and asked to redo the counter flashing. What they did was just go over top the flashing the roofer covered over the existing. I also had gutters put on. They leaked and called again. The guy came out and caulked it. It rained and leaked again. I called and project manager accused me of leak testing them before the caulk dried. I had them out at leas 4 times and they came out and said they completely replaced them. They leaked again, I texted pictures to the owner and project manager. Manager replied someone would come out. After 3 weeks, still nobody came out. I had ice build up in front of one my doors I could not get in or out of. I fixed them myself but, they are not pitched correct still and never heard from anyone. After the roof was done, the manager said he'd be back the next week to go or the bill. Two weeks later we got the loan and not for what we agreed on. The loan came for 5 years instead. After my wife calling and emailing, the owner said he could fix it with a loan from a different lender for a lesser rate. Two months after paying 2 payments on 1st loan, they sent us a check to pay the first one off. That same day, the bill for the 2nd loan came and was due right away. We were pretty upset over this. I also asked the manager about the difference on the loan since the shingles were less than rubber roofing. He said he doubled up the ice and water shield and came out to be the same. I know rubber roofing alone in material is much more expensive. We feel there should be some kind of reimbursement. Even the day before the work I did a walk around with the manager and told him I wanted to keep my gutter guards. The roofers threw them away and was never offered compensation.

Renu Solar & Roofing Response • Feb 26, 2018

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately you were not approved for the 10 year loan from the credit union, but we were able to get you approved for a 5 year loan through another finance source. We have signed loan paperwork and we follow strict procedures regarding loans. In order to help we worked with another finance company to get you another loan and get the 1st loan paid off. Which we sent a check for payment in full. As for the chimney flashing: customer informed us he did not want the flashing over a certain height. We informed the customer that the flashing needed to be higher than the existing flashing. Sometime after the job was completed we again informed the customer that we had to do counter flashing higher than the existing flashing. We sent a technician out and redid the counter flashing at no cost to the customer. We also reran the gutters on any areas that the gutters were leaking. Our install crews follow work orders signed by the customer, and the work order did not mention keeping any existing gutter guards - this is the first of our hearing of this. Our project manger mentioned keeping the whole roof in shingles so that the roof would be consistent throughout, and that we would need to double the ice and water protection on this area of the roof due to the roof pitch, to ensure this area would not leak. The customer gave verbal consent of this plan. As of the date of our installation this area and all areas of the roof have not leaked. The extra cost to do the added ice and water protection, underlayment, and shingles on this area of the roof is about the same cost as, fiberboard and EPDM (Rubber) installation. There is not a $1,000 difference. We worked hard to fix the clients loan to meet the terms they wanted and sent them a check to pay off the original loan. We would be willing to reimburse the client for the interest amount paid on 2 months of payments towards the first loan. The client should email us the statement for each month for our review and we will reach out to the client once we receive this.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: W e never would have had the work done if we couldn't get the 10 years loan. The salesman never mentioned if we were not approved we'd have to do a 5 year. Nobody ever advised us we were not approved for the first loan as we agreed to originally. They never told us there was another loan available with a different lender for a better rate. My wife had called 2 times about the loan and was told the check would be sent out or delivered personally. It did not come for at least a week after the second payment was due. The manager came to our house the day before the work to be done and did a walk around with me. He asked if I wanted to keep the gutter guards and I said yes. I pointed out the chimney had been a problem since I moved in. Never did I refuse to have them reflash it correctly. I noticed after it leaked and went up and saw the roofers just covered up the old flashing with new and globs of caulking. We also were not advised the company was sub contracting the work to a group of guys from New Jersey. The gutters were not installed for at least 2 weeks after the roof. After I called about the roof leaking they sent out someone to look at it. I advised I could see day light out from inside. They said the roofer did not do it correctly and then caulked again. They advised they would need to flash almost half the stone to do it correctly. At that time I refused and they would come out and caulk it again. I went up on the roof to inspect and seen 3 different colors of caulking and was unhappy. I then called and expressed my being unhappy with it with the manager. I asked why they did not pull out the old counter flashing and redo it. I feel he could not give me a good answer. I had them come out and redo the flashing and normally the counter flashing goes under the shingles but it is just a cover up over the prior work and they just cut into the stone and flared out the flashing at the bottom. The gutters were installed and I advised a day or so after they leaked. They sent out there guy and I asked if he wanted something to clean the gutter and he said no. After he left I looked at the work and he had globs of caulking with all the little stones from shingles in it. After multiple complaints of it leaking they chose to come out and redo the gutters. Again they leaked. I texted the owner and he advised to contact manager. I did and he said he'd have someone come out. After weeks and me getting upset that the ice was building up in front of my sunroom door and not being to get out or in I fixed them myself. I had them out at least 4 to 5 times to work on these gutters. There still is an area that the water just sits in after me telling this multiple times. They never once used a level I believe. I understand the weather was not ideal at times to fix these issues but should have not been an issue if done right the first time. I have many pictures of all these concerns and have sent to the owner and manager. I also showed the manager an area in my garage that leaked since I lived in the house and can see the wood is rotten and see the underlayment. He said it was blow out from the nails were it split the wood and that was the end. I recently went up on the sunroom roof and walking up there the roof felt spongy. The manager told me originally it was all good up there and no rotten wood. I have had other estimates and they told me parts needed replaced because of this and cracking as you walked on it. To the answer of doubling up the ice and water shield, I don't believe the cost of that comes close to the cost of rubber roofing and items to do it vs shingles. Nobody ever discussed this with us and had to be asked. I have not complained about the fact they left nails in the gutters and still there or some small items were damaged from removing the roof. I am just dissatisfied with the lack of customer service and lack of quality workmanship. They should have discussed the loan not going thru as discussed and avoided me having to call multiple times to have items fixed and having to be satisfied with how it is. I do know a good bit of how the work should have been done and to pay $14k and have issues over and over is very upsetting. They apologized for the worker leaving cigarette butts and trash on my roof but is very unprofessional. The manager did get me some extra supplies for my shed to be reshingled but also offered to get me the shingles at his cost and never did. I am not looking for him to do so but the fact he didn't do things he said he'd do is the issue. The fact I had to fix the gutters is upsetting and I am looking at having someone come out and inspect the chimney and rest of the work to make sure I will not have any other issues and if have to have the gutter repitched. I would at least like to see the final bill showing me there is no difference in cost since we never did receive a final itemized bill or have it gone over. At the very least they should pay me the interest incurred on the first loan but I feel they should owe something else for inconvenience and the fact I had to fix the gutters and if I didn't know anything about what was done that it would have been left go and became a bigger issue. I should not have to check their work or have it get to this point and I feel there are too many excuses vs solutions. I am trying to avoid any further issues or actions needed.

Regards

We have reached out to the customer regarding this. We are willing to reimburse the customer for the interest payments towards the first loan. We will also be putting up gutter guards on the gutters that had them before. Lastly we will repitch the gutters on the garage and repair a small piece of rotted fascia board. Since these communications can be made public according to Revdex.com policy, It is important to note the area we are repairing was existing and was not caused by our workmanship. The repair is over and above, which we are doing to keep our client happy. We will be in touch regarding scheduling.

I didn't know what to expect with Solar but the process was easy, with Home Renu. The panels look great on my roof and installers were polite and efficient. Installation took 2 days which surprised me. All in a job well done.

Renu Solar & Roofing Response • Jan 22, 2018

Thank you Ralph. We are happy we exceeded your expectations.

We had issues with our roof leaking in a section of our house. I called homerenu where I was advised they can fix it, I asked and double checked and was advised by Mike/or Mark that it would be fixed and they can fix anything. I told them from the beginning if it cant be fixed don't touch it. I applied for a 5000.00 loan from *** who is they go thru and was approved. My roof is 10 x worse, I have mold in my house, my floors are rotted from the leaking roof, my walls are falling apart, and they did nothing to fix my roof but make it worse. They bought a ceiling tile that was what they said "cheaper" and not the same thing as what we have. They came back 2 x afterwards and "supposedly fixed the leak" I have pics

Renu Solar & Roofing Response

thanks for the feedback. *** was not able to approve you for the amount needed to put a new roof on your home. Since that was the case we agreed to do a roof coating over the existing metal roof. Before we did this job this roof was in very bad shape and the interior was being affected as a result of the leaking roof. After our technicians turned in their last service order from your job we didn't hear from you and assumed you were taken care of. Many of the pictures of damage you sent over was present before we did the roof coating. As a company we try to address leaks as soon as possible. We also repaired areas on the interior of the home which were previously affected by the incoming water. We are sending a technician over now to reassess. We want to help address this situation and have called multiple times today. We will be continuing to try to reach you asap regarding this.
