Republic West Home, Inc. Reviews (44)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Even prior to hiring Republic West for upgraded replacement windows and sliding doors, I did my research to ensure I was doing business with a reputable company.  I was impressed that they had a large folder with all kinds of accolades and with what to watch out for when using a contractor and with any remodel.  They also included  proof of Revdex.com Business Ethics Award in 2003 and 2006.  I hired Republic West and signed an invoice with terms and conditions from Republic West on 11.23.07.  ·         On 11.14.07 I was provided a quote from Republic West for a brand of windows called “Contour”*.  That quote was for $4913.63.  No one ever explained that [redacted], [redacted], [redacted] and Republic West formally known as [redacted] and [redacted] Company was not the Republic West I was doing business with.·        On 11.23.07 I added to the quote to have the two sliding glass doors replaced as well.  The new quote was for a total of $9741.81.  ·        On 1.24.08 I paid the total $9741.81.   In February of 2008 and several times later in 2008 I called Republic West to say that the sealant used to adhere the window to the windowsill was coming apart on the lower south side of the large window in the kitchen. When Republic West came out they said, this is normal and they resealed it again, each time - at least three or four times.·        I called in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and explained that I was still having issues with the same window in the kitchen.· During these calls I was advised that it must be due to water damage not caused by Republic West installing the windows and there was nothing else they could do since they had come out many times before.  I even had the owner of the Company [redacted] call me and say it was my water damage that caused this issue.  This is not true.  I had my entire roof replaced after the large monsoon that hit the north valley in 2011 and the receipt shows the SW part of the kitchen had damage but not the south (almost south east portion of where the window has never been fully sealed or installed correctly).  Also they didn’t see any prior damage from the roof. Today is 5/29/15 and have been told by two door and window companies that because the initial issue was showing the window coming away from the sill, this is due to RW not putting the install screw in to secure the window correctly.  One of those companies came out this morning.  They confirmed the same and also confirmed that the stucco job RW did was extremely poor and this has caused water damage and possibly mold damage.  Why did RW not honor their warranty when I called three weeks after install and advise that they didn't install the window correctly and re install it?  Isn't that what they should have done in 2008?  They were not honest in their response they were not honest when they installed my window and they are still not honest now.

Regards,

Just taking the time to share our experience.

We had several opportunities to contract with two other companies for less money.

The $1600 more in the end was worth every penny.

From the initial consultation to the finished project, it was truly a painless experience.

I would certainly recommend republic west to anyone looking for a professional kitchen remodel. [redacted]

I had Republic West Home reface my kitchen and replace all the windows in the house. Hearing horror stories about home repair I was very nervous to start the project. The crew at Republic West home walked me through every step and told me what to expect and any complications that could occur (which none did). From the salesman to the installation crew, they were all very professional, kind and respectful of me and my home. The installation started when the promise and even finished a day early! If I need any additional work done, I will not go anywhere else. I highly recommend Republic West Home to anyone who ask.

Worst customer service I have every experienced. Horrible service from beginning to end except the sales guy was nice and unfortunately convincing. They made a lot of promises and did not deliver. I am still unhappy with the finished product. And then they offered me a discount ONLY if I agreed to sign a waiver saying I wouldn't write a bad review. I would not sign it so they said they would sue me if I didn't pay the amount of the discount. The job took entirely too long and it was an awful experience.

I am a widowed senior. It is very frightening to do home improvement projects without my husband. I was referred to Republic West Home by a friend and I am so grateful to her. Republic West Home installed all new windows in my home. The process was easy, the people were so great to work with including the installers who kept my home clean at the end of the work day. My new windows not only give my home a whole new look, but they have kept it so much cooler than last summer and my electric bills have gone down by 30% during the hot months! I would recommend Republic West Home to anyone doing a home improvement project. I am going to have them update my kitchen next! Thank you Republic West Home and all your great people!!!

Review: I have about 80 pictures of the condition my house was left in after the windows were installed. Construction dust all over, nails all over, tiny concrete pieces all over. They damaged my patio in 2 places. They damaged my kitchen floor and living room floor. They damaged my ceiling and wall. They left hand prints on the door and walls from paint or Spackle. One window was broken the day they left, 2 screens were installed already damaged, the sliding doors rubber gasket is hanging out. All my clothes in my closet were covered in concrete dust, so was my floors, and all furniture. They didn't use drop clothes or clean up, but they say did. They threw away my security alarm that was on my door.Desired Settlement: I want the damage fixed and a discount on the price of the cost of the windows and installation.

Response:

The complaints this customer had that we were made aware of have already been resolved. The owner is meeting with the customer and her husband Saturday morning to see what they are talking about and to resolve whatever issues there may be. However, the whole complaint is a little odd since we have been in contact with the customer numerous times over the past 10 days to work on financing completions. During those conversations nothing was said about unsatifactory work. However, we are driven to satisfy customers and we will take care of this.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

What wonderful experiences I have with this company! I have had many experiences with remodeling companies so I know that it is a messy business and people aren’t always satisfied with the process. One thing I've learned over the years is that I caused a lot of my own problems during remodels trying to get too involved and holding back money till I got what I wanted.(Usually stuff I didn’t pay for. Yeah I can’t believe I did it either! ) Like many people I see that write negative reviews I always blamed the contractor but really I wanted to do it my way which turns out was wrong. I have a type A personality and just couldn’t accept doing it any other way but my own. That being said Republic West Home’s owners [redacted] and [redacted] sent me out a letter outlining exactly how the experience could go bad and how it could go good.( The way it could go bad was like a biography of my previous self!) I trusted them even though I read some reviews that cast them in a negative light, because I know first hand that people feel empowered behind the computer screen to trash companies even though in my experience most problems are caused by homeowners thinking they know best and not trusting the pros. ( I have since removed all my outrageously negative reviews) As a professional designer(yes I’m in the business and still acted that way) I recommend them to all my clients. I have been working with them for about a year (had my epiphany about the same time) and 6 jobs later I could not be happier. If you are looking for real pros I suggest going with Republic West Home.

I had a great experience with this company and found the entire staff to be very helpful and friendly!

What a great experience! Republic West gave me a very fair price on my windows/doors and installed them before they had promised. All my expectations were met and would recommend them to anybody.

Review: Four sets of French doors were purchased from Republic West approximately 8 years ago. On July 1, 2014 our daughter and grandchildren were coming in the house through one of the French doors and the outside glass of the double pane broke. The glass broke into large sharp pieces plus some smaller pieces which pierced the foot of one of our granddaughters. When we purchased the doors they were sold as having tempered glass (which is code for all outside doors. When I contacted Republic West I was sent to the warranty message line and they emailed a copy of a letter stating what to do. I wanted to find out what our options were for getting the glass fixed and I figured all the other doors were the same glass. After several phone calls trying to speak to a live person, I talked to the owner who spoke to me in a very agitated angry voice and after telling me that no glass breakage was ever covered under warranty, he said that the glass manufacturer was out of business, so basically I could put in a claim and wait for the courts to settle against the company. Republic West installed the glass into the door frames and I find it difficult to believe they didn't know they were installing plate glass instead of tempered glass. We were sold and paid for a product that was defective from the beginning, advertised as helping with heat and cold transfer, and that it was safety glass, and it was all a lie. Also the installation was shoddy, we could see daylight around the doors and most won't close properly.Desired Settlement: Ideally an adjustment in the price we originally paid so that we wouldn't have to deal with Republic West again, but if that can't happen then that all doors be replaced with the tempered safety glass we originally paid for.

We recently had a complete kitchen remodel project done by Republic West. The experience was wonderful! Unlike experiences others have had remodeling, ours went perfectly. We were given a very fair quote, and there were NO surprises! Also, we were given a schedule of activities to complete the the project, and the job was done on time (everyone showed up when expedted), and exactly to our specifications...no shortcuts!! During construction, the lead project manager made a few minor suggestions which really improved the overall result. We're very happy we chosse Republic West!! Please ask them to call me for a reference!

Review: Back on March 14, 2015, we had Republic west come out to give us an estimate for remodeling our kitchen. We told the sales person we would have to apply for a bank loan to get the money for the remodel. He assured us that if the loan was not approved we could cancel at anytime. The next day we had a water line break under the kitchen sink and had to have the insurance company come out. We called and told Republic west we had to cancel, since we had no idea when the water line would be repaired. We explained that we had no idea what out of pocket costs would be needed from us due to the water damage. All of the sudden we were told we could not cancel and that the $6,284 deposit would not be refunded. We were horrified, and asked to speak to a manager. We went back and forth with phone calls and nothing was resolved. The deposit was made on my [redacted] card, so I disputed the transaction. However, [redacted] Card said they could not go against the contract that Republic west had that we signed and authorized the payment. It was our word against theirs and we were losing. It is now June 5, 2015, we still have our kitchen in pieces, the water line has finally been repaired, but we have no cabinets, no sink and are living out of boxes. Republic west never measured our kitchen, never did any work in our home, never ordered any supplies, so why will they not return our money?Desired Settlement: Refund of my deposit $6.284.00, since NO work was every done in my home.

Response:

This complaint was submitted against, my company Republic West Remodeling, Inc. The customer actually worked with a completely independent company, Republic West Home. [redacted], referenced in the complaint, is the owner of Republic West Home. There is absolutely no relationship between Republic West Remodeling and Republic West Home. Please remove this complaint from my company as my record with the Revdex.com is very important to me.Thank you.Sincerely,[redacted]President Republic West Remodeling.

Response:

To whom it may concern,Two weeks after the contract was signed, Mr. [redacted] called our office looking to cancel his contract in order to resolve a water line issue in their home. I informed Mr. [redacted] that we were aware of his water line issue at the point of sale and that is why they were remodeling their kitchen. We told Mr [redacted] that he should keep us in the loop as to the timeframe to start based on the insurance claim he needed to file. He said that he would talk to the insurance company and get back to us. A couple days later he called back wanting to cancel his contract out right. We informed him that it was 14 days past his recession date and canceling was only possible if we recovered the costs we had put out. I gave him an accounting of our outlays and he told me he would discuss it with his wife and get back to me. Never during any design meeting or phone discussion did any discussion come up about getting a bank loan. All the paperwork the [redacted]s signed clearly stated they would be paying by check for each progress payment owed. The next thing that happened was a phone call from [redacted] that they had disputed the deposit charge. As stated above, [redacted] honored the deposit due to the fact that the [redacted]s clearly were aware of the 3 day right to rescind which is printed on the front of the contract. In the complaint the [redacted]s imply that Republic West is responsible for them still being out of their kitchen but any damage caused in their house was due to the water line break. We were never allowed access to do any labor in their home so it was torn up by the insurance company contractor. The reason we take deposits is because we have cash outlays before we do any work in the home including design, field and office work. Our offer to cover those costs was fair as we are not obligated to do so.Sincerely,Republic West

I had a great experience with this company and found the entire staff to be very helpful and friendly . They made the process of remodeling our home very relaxing and UN-stressful Thank you Republic West Home

I contracted with Republic West to Solar Tune my home for new windows so it would be more comfortable and energy efficient. They came out, made suggestions as to the best glass for the windows in each exposure in my home and gave me pricing. Every window qualifies for the tax credit so in addition to a home that looks beautiful, is comfortable and cool and reduced my [redacted] bill by 40%!, I will be getting a tax credit of $1,500. Our experience with home improvement companies has not always been a good one but with Republic West doing the work, our experience was EXCELLENT. They were professional, on time, on budget and did everything they said they would. I would recommend Republic West to anyone who is looking for a great company to do any remodeling work in their home. We have hired them to remodel our kitchen. I will let you know how that turns out but I expect it will be another great experience. ([redacted])

Review: Installers didn't plum or shim the windows, caulking was was a complete mess as they didn't use tape, the strips they use to hide the gaps from the window to the wall are a darker color than the windows so now my windows have a two tone appearance. Totally hideous. I spoke with Mike Z[redacted] over the phone who was very condescending. I have emailed pictures earlier this week and have not heard back Republic West or anyone else at the company. Today, they charged our accounts without us giving them authorization to do so and we have since closed our cards out.Desired Settlement: The windows need to be replaced as the stips cannot be taken off without damaging the finish on the windows. Republic West need to paint over their bad caulking job both inside and outside walls where the windows were installed.

They can go back to the manufacturer to get a wider strip to fit from the wall to the inside edge of window so at least there is no two tone appearance

Or refund us money and they can have the windows back once new ones are ordered by another company.

Response:

To whom it may concern,The customer was contacted and we are waiting for their approval on fixing caulking/trim work as that has been determined to be the only issue. The customer is confused as to how a retro fit window is installed. He was confusing a new construction vs a retrofit install. I would like to address the accusation that we charged his card without authorization. I have attached two documents that clearly give us authorization to charge the card including a completion form that the customer signed off on the day of install that not only were the windows complete and they were happy but gave us two credit cards to charge 50/50. Mr Nadeau statements are intentionally false in order to harm our reputation but the documents obviously refute his false statement.

Consumer

Response:

The only confusion is on the part of republic west home. the salesman showed us a frame that was going to make our windows very small, and we had concerns again voiced to the salesman about the flat strip. we didn't know a 3rd party strip was going to be used and that it would be darker than the window. The windows were measured too small that left a about a 1/2" gap from the new frame to the old frame. The gap shouldn't have been more than a 1/4" all around the window so we have lost 4" of window on all 4 windows replaced. The installers didn't address any of the concerns we had why they were crooked, why the gap was soo large, why the strips were at least one shade darker than the window. Why they didn't plum & square the windows.. The installer used way too much caulking on the outside of windows which now is all over the stucco. It's been 3 weeks since the install and republic west can't be bothered to come even look at the install. No Mike Z[redacted] there is no new documents to be signed. As far as the sheets your installers had us sign they didn't listen to us during the install and I called Mike Z[redacted] on Monday with my displeasure and emailed him. All he can say is where's my money. Fix your install or refund our money and you can keep your windows. We put our cc info on the form in good faith and instructed the installers to have them call us and we would tell them how much to put on each card knowing we weren't happy with the install. Guess what again the installers didn't listen to us. I emailed z[redacted] to come out and look at the install they have yet to do so. Since the install we've had 3 companies come out for quotes and they've all said bad install.

Response:

We are not sure how to answer the customers latest Revdex.com message. We had an agreement to redo the vinyl strips and caulk when he received a color sample from the manufacturer. We left two voicemails and an email checking on the status of the color approval with no return phone call. We have been willing and ready to resolve the issues but Roger has not responded with the color approval. As soon as we receive approval of the color match we will proceed with the agreed upon repairs.

Very unprofessional installation including grease on carpeting in living room, bedroom and on patio. Unrealistic timetable for installation ,

Lifetime and transferable warranty expressed by representative was NOT given ( 4 homes involved) revised warranty given 10 days later.

Gift cards given to try and make this go away. Final payment amount was incorrect and had to argue with business to get the correct customer account. Installed defected part, said local rep for manufacturer was local but would take 4 weeks after coming out to inspect it. Magically no one came but part was installed.

Product is OK but installation was painful, messy and frustrating.

We are very happy with our new windows installed yesterday by Republic West. We could already feel the difference in our bedroom on night one! We shopped around and came back to Republic West because they offered us the best window at a fair price. I plan on using them when I have enough money saved to remodel my kitchen.

The business as a whole is great. I have a problem removing my screens and I called the company in April and again in September of 2013. Spoke with [redacted] on the 2nd call and explained to him the situation. He tried to talk me thru the operation and I told him it isn't working and doesn't work, He accused me of being angry and hung up on me after telling me he would send a memo to the manufacturer and some would contact me in about a week. After spending over $6000.00 on windows, I don't think, just because you are the owner, you have the right to get an attitude and and hanging up. I wasn't angry, but he didn't want to hear about anything. I guess he got his money so screw me. Like the windows, like the salesman and the installers were really good, but being an owner with attitude just doesn't cut it. He needs to go back to customer relations school. As a customer, I don't appreciate spending my hard earned money on windows and then having some owner with a big ego tell me what I am, (angry) and then hanging up on me. The make didn't sell me the windows and didn't install them, so why do I have to deal with the manufacturer. Republic should have a serviceman out here and checking the windows to see what the problem is.

Extremely poor customer relations.................

Terrible experience. numerous delays. they kept demanding payment when the project was not complete. The president, [redacted] threatened us if we did not pay, I asked them to put everything in writing and send an invoice as the last conversation resulted in him yelling at me and using obscenities. Instead, he decides best course of action was to threaten us for non payment. Our community has been advised not to let them in our neighborhood ever again. Our attorney has been contacted. We are ready to file with the proper authorities.

I had Republic West Home reface my kitchen. I was referred to Republic West Home by a friend and I am so grateful to her. The people were so great to work with including the installers who kept my home clean. From the initial consultation to the finished project, it was truly a painless experience.
