Response:
I
was originally contacted by the builder to bid this projectMy original bid
was $I was told that the homeowner decided to go another route and use
someone elseAfter several weeks, I was again contacted by the builder, and
asked to come take a look at the jobI was told that they were not happy with
the job that was being doneI went to the job and met with the homeowner and
builderAfter looking at the job, I told homeowner my cost would be $
to finish the jobI explained clearly that there were some issues that I could
not fix without completely restarting or tearing out some of the work done by
previous painterI explained clearly that there would be no warranty, because
I could not be responsible for what the other painter had done, we cannot
warranty another painters workI told homeowner that we could do a complete
repair and paint, but it would cost more than the $She said since she
had already paid the other painter that she didn’t want to spend any more money
than necessary to finish jobI made sure to state that it would not be
perfect, because of previous painter’s actions, and there would be no warranty
She agreed to those terms, with no hesitation, she just wanted it to get done
After starting to finish walls, she asked why the walls were so shinnyI told
her the previous painter used a satin finish on the wallsShe said I don’t
know why he would do that, I don’t like shinny wallsSo we discussed the
issue, and came to the solution of using a matte finish on the wallsI told
her my recommendation was to use a washable matte finishThis product
obviously costs moreWe discussed this and agreed on an extra $to use
this productLater I was accused of lying and cheating her, charging her too
much for using this productI produced a receipt from paint store, showing
that it actually cost me $to purchase productI lost $in doing this,
but $was what we agreed on and I stuck to my word on the priceThis was
completely an insult to my character and my company, but we moved on and
completed the job as agreedThe job was completedAs per after other
trades had finished, we were asked to do a punch-out in the homeWe did all
items on listA week or go by and we are asked again to come and do more
punch itemsWe again did all items on listFinally after they had starting to
move items in the home, we again were asked to come to a final walk through
with a detail list of items needing fixedReluctantly, we did this againThis
time after completing list, we walked through entire home with homeowner and
went down the list item by item and she approved all things were taken care of
Our procedure is one punch-out day, and we had done threeThe homeowner
moved into the home on July 1, It is now February 2015, months laterI
believe, as a company, we have done our job for this homeownerI have never
been rude or misleading in any way to the homeownerI demand a lot from myself
and my employees, to make sure the homeowners are happy before we leaveWe did
that on our last trip to the houseThank you, Ron Jenrette, RJ Painting, LLC

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
There was never any verbal or written acknowledgment or
agreement that there would NOT be a warranty provided by Ron JenretteMy
husband and I would never have agreed to allow a contractor to work on our home
without a warranty, especially after already experiencing issuesI would like
to be presented with the document reflecting our agreement that no warranty would
be issued by RJ PaintingAgreement to the terms listed by MrJenrette is
false.
The difference between the finishes of paint was presented
to us by MrJenretteWe did not identify an issue with the finish until he
stated that a matte finish would provide us with easy tourepairs and
washableThen, we agreed that his suggestion was beneficial and we would spend
the extra money to repaint the entire house.
We were promised receipts from our builder for every
contractor expense accrued throughout the building process so that we were
clear about what we were paying for with each checkAsking for receipts is customary
business practice and should have been provided without question or hesitation prior
to paymentProviding timely payments for uncompleted and unsatisfactory work
was our mistakeIn addition, my husband provided MrJenrette at least FREE
cases of caulk (cartridges per case with an estimated value of $500) that
was never documented to decrease his expenses and supplies at other job sites.
The punch list/final walk-through was presented to the
builder on 07/15/(this document has been attached)As documented, there
are multiple items on the list that were presented to the builder and painter
on multiple occasions before this dateThe flaws were never corrected despite
being identified on several occasions, thus were added them to the final
walk-through to document items necessary to complete the jobAgain, the final
walk-through for all contractors on the home was provided to the builder on
07/15/There was never any prior punch list; therefore, I respectfully
request to be presented with prior punch listsIdentifying flaws is not
considered a punch list but a lack of acceptable workI never accepted all of
the painter’s work as “approved” and was assured by the builder that the items
on the final walk-through would be completed by the painterThe only item on
the list of unacceptable items that was not discussed prior to the final
walk-through is the issue with caulk being separated from the trim and the wall
throughout the entire houseWith the amount of caulking issues, we feel as
though the painter should return and correct the problems because the work was
absolutely pitiful and unacceptable after six months.
Despite MrJenrette’s claim, he never asked us, as
homeowners, whether we were happy before he decided NOT to return to complete
the jobThe last encounter with MrJenrette was very unprofessional and rude
We are unsatisfied and unhappy with MrJenrette’s work
To resolve this issue, we are asking for the identified
flaws to be acceptably correctedAttached documents: The items italicized and highlighted in pink are items that were asked of
the painter on multiple occasions to correct prior to receiving this final
walk-through list on 07/15/It was documented in the second picture that
the items were previously discussed and there was no objection by the builder
or painterAll of the items highlighted pink have not been completed.
Regards,
