This made me think why when all of our sinks and toilets were backed up already. He then proceeded to clean the line from the outside clean out to the septic tank with no results. He said he had to dig up the septic tank cover and did so also breaking the septic tank cover. Myself and my wife watched him do that, he denied it and said it was old damage. after he pulled the cover off they again tried to clean the line out with no results. Benson then told myself and my wife that the tank obviously had to be pumped out and that the drainfield was not functioning properly or at all. That the drainfield had to either be water jetted or replaced. He gave us a rough price of approx.
$975 including pumping out the tank. We first told him to set it up for the next day. Then I thought I really was not happy with paying him
$ 225.00 for not repairing the issue. He left and I was still with the same issue.
The next morning we called and cancelled the work on the drainfield and pump out of the tank.
I called our usual septic tank pump guy Woodys septic service and repair. Woodys came out approx.1:00 PM on 12-6-2017 and pumped out my septic tank and inspected my drain field and found nothing wrong with the drain field He did find the main line into the septic tank from the cleanout to the tank was clogged. Woodys used my garden hose with water pressure to clean out the clog. Woodys charged me $250.00 and properly repaired the problem. Woodys told me that Rotor Rooter hires people that are not plumbers and sends them out with little training.
The next day I called Rotor Rooters office and spoke to the office manager. She refused to either do a full or partial refund even though no resolution on the problem was taken. She said once they come out to your house and do any type of work there will be a charge. After several phone calls Rotor Rooter refuses to work with me.

Desired Outcome

Complete refund for lack of repair and fradulant services/repairs that were not needed at all.

Roto-Rooter Sewer Drain & Septic Response • Jan 11, 2018

We received the letter of complaint forwarded to us on behalf of Mr. Robert ***. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond, and state our position Mr. called o after hours dispatch on December 5th 2017, because he was having a plumbing emergency at his residence. Apparently the company he normally uses was unable to respond to him in his time of need. Our Service Technician Benton immediately assured Mr. that he would be out to help him. Bento arrived at Mr. address he assessed the situation. He determined that Mr. had two problems at his property. The mainline from his home to the septic tank was clogged. The tank was full and needed to be pumped. Benton unclogged the mainline, and made it possiblefor Mr. and his family to use the facilities in the home, until the next morning when our pump truck could come out to pump out his septic tank. The next day December 6th the office called Mr. residence to schedule the pump out. At that time he informed the ofce he was having his regular company come out. Mr Fisherman at the time didn't mention to the office any of the problems stated in his complaint about the services provided by Benton.

On December 8th Mr. called our office, and demanded a full refund. Our Office Manger tried to explain to Mr. that Benton came out in good faith, and made it possible for he and his family to use the facilities in the home. She also tried to explain to Mr. that he paid for the services that were provided by our service technician. Mr. was very irate, our office manager tried to explain that the reason why there was a soft clog at the end of the inlet that the other technician removed with a hose caused by occupants of the home using the facilities. Mr. was upset and said no one used water in the home from the time Benton left until the other company arrived. Our ofce manager explained to Mr. that we would have come out and pumped the septic tank the next day, and we would have made sure all was owing. She informed him that the services that he paid for were to have a technician come out in an emergency situation, and that she was sorry but she couldn't refund the money. Mr. hung up on our office manager. The only other communication was have from Mr. is the letter you forwarded to our office you forwarded to our ofce. Mr. was not scheduled to have his drain-field jetted . That is a process that couldn't be been done the next day. Customer Service is very important to us. We strive for quality service at an abrclable price. We regret that Mr. and his family are upset, but unfortunately we are unable to refund the money requested.

Customer Response • Jan 11, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The office of Rotor Rooter is not correctly telling what had transpired. Mr. did not hang up on anyone in the Rotor Rooter office. The service technician Benton did come out on the emergency call 7:00 PM, but he did not clear any clog nor was I able to use my bathrooms or any water once he left. My cesspool did not have to be pumped out to fix my problem. We had a bad clog that was cleared by another company the following day.
I am no longing persuing anything from Rotor Rooter , this was a lesson learned in using only a company that does what they charge a customer for. I would suggest next time to use Woodys septic service, honest hard working employees.

Roto Rooter attempted to fixed our leak and made our situation worse at home. They charged us for something they did not fix and wont return our calls
Our names are *** and ***. Our address is ***. Phone number ***. On November 1, 2017 we called Roto Rooter for a leak in our bathroom. Caleb was one of the two plumbers that came and he repaired two broken handles under bathroom sink. We were charged $250 on ***'s credit card. They said there was leak in the kitchen under the sink as well. They came back on November 2, 2017 to fix it. They cut through our kitchen cabinet and through to the exterior wall to attempt to repair the leak. Caleb broke through the exterior wall from the outside to repair it. At that moment, he pulled and yanked on another pipe breaking another pipe under the foundation of house. At that point, Caleb said he had to get his manager to repair it because Caleb was not licensed to go into the foundation. We were charged $400 for this day on ***'s credit card. On November 4, 2017 our garage flooded. We called Roto Rooter and they did not want to come to our house until Monday the 6th. Then they wanted to charge us an emergency price to come out the same day even after they had made our problem worse. We were left without water for several days forcing us to call another plumbing company. We ended up having to have the entire house repiped which costed us $7,700. The other company fixed everything. They told us that the repairs that were made by Roto Rooter were done incorrectly and unprofessionally. They used shark bites to make repairs which are homeowners quick fixes and not permanent repairs. We were informed that plumbers are supposed to sweat pipes to make it code. They installed two different types of handles under our bathroom sink. The other company had to fix the holes that were made by roto rooter to the interior and exterior. Aaron is roto rooters manager and he came to our house November 6th telling us we were over charged. He told us that his brother (owner of roto rooter) will contact us. November 15th, we went to Roto Rooter 1003 Cranleigh Ave Deland, Fl 32720 location to try to talk to somebody and Aaron was there. Again he said his brother will call us. We called Aaron the next day on the 16th, left a voicemail and no one ever called us back. We have attempted several times to speak with the owner and they are avoiding us. We would like a full refund because the work that was done by their workers just made things worse in the house, so therefore they did not repair a thing. We would like our $650 back since nothing was fixed plus an additional $500 to repair our holes in the walls and holes in kitchen cabinets that they put there.

Desired Outcome

We want our $650 back from the work that was not complete and made even worse plus an additional $500 for damage they created and now have to be fixed.

We received your letter. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond, and state our position.
I spoke with Arron, and he informed me that he did contact the owner of Roto-Rooter on behalf of Mr. and Ms.. Mr. (the owner) said that he tried to contact Mr. and Ms. and didn't receive any response.
Unfortunately we will not be able to refund the money that Mr. and Ms. are requesting.
Service repairs can be made with shark bites due to the age of the copper pipes in the residence-
Sweating old copper will cause more leaks to appear in the existing piping.
We regret that Mr. and Ms. didn't contact the ofce directly. we would have been able to give a quote for a whole house re-pipe which is $4000.00. We would have worked with the customers to give them a discount for monies paid toward the total re-pipe.
