Route 22 Toyota Reviews (35)

We have provided the customer with his plates.

** C[redacted] from Route 22 Toyota did make the effort to ensure that I got my title as well as financial compensation so I want to at least be fair on the Revdex.com website and indicate that I'm satisfi** with the resolution.
Revdex.com:
I have review** the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

We have resent the customer the [redacted] gift card. I have called the customer and she has confirmed she has received the gift card but is unable to open the email to confirm that it is working because she is currently at work. She will call me later this afternoon to confirm.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Because Howard did not tell me that I was told to submit the receipt that I paid for the tires so they could submit a claim for...

me.  I was not supposed to pay anything for the tire replacement and should have to wait for a claim to be submitted.

Review: Respected Sir/Madam, We had our Toyota Sienna 2012 serviced for in warranty service due at Route 22 Toyota. Initially, the mechanic and supervisor both told us that everything was covered under the extra warranty we have purchased. However, when I went to pick up my vehicle, [redacted] had left notes to charge me for $750. It was absolutely unethical! He had said if I did not pay up those charges which were not covered, they would not release my car. I was told initially that everything was to be covered by my extra warranty (I had the brand new car for only 1 year)Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the unauthorized charges of about $750 that Route 22 Toyota has made. They basically forced me to pay that for something that was covered 100% under warranty as quoted to me earlier. I could not do anything at the time as they said they would not release my car and I had a 7 month old and 2 year old with me. Please help me recover my $750 that I was wrongly billed. Thank You very much, [redacted]

Business

Response:

Mr. [redacted] did bring his Sienna in to fix and I am sure he got the impression it would be covered under warranty at first. Usually vehicles with problems that are only a year old are usually covered under warranty. In this case the problem was caused by rodents. This is not covered. He was informed of the problem after the vehicle was diagnosed. We are unable to refund his money as requested.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

This is absolutely not true! Mr [redacted] threatened my wife that she would have to pay about $500 even if he did not 'fix' the problem and just returned the car and also pay for rental car- even though they had clearly stated that the issue WOULD be covered by the warranty (including the rental car).

They would not release the car without charging the credit card. This is fraud and she was helpless as she had a baby and a toddler in the rental waiting to be transferred.

Please refund our money as the technician DID misquote saying it would be covered by warranty and then at time of pick up, harassed us and charged us $750.

Let us please resolve this issue and come to atleast some middle ground if you cannot completely refund $750.

Please help out as we want to be Hillside Toyota customers for a very long time.

Sincerely, [redacted]

Regards,

Business

Response:

Once again, Mr. [redacted]’s [redacted] came in for a check engine warning light on. It would be assumed that the vehicle’s issue should be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. However, upon inspection of the vehicle by the technician, it was discovered that a rodent climbed into the engine compartment and chewed through a wire harness, which caused the issue with the vehicle. Due to the fact it was not caused by a manufacturing defect, Toyota’s warranty does not cover the repair. Mr. [redacted], the service advisor, contacted the customer and went over the issue very clearly. He explained why it was not covered and exactly how much money the customer would have to pay. Upon completion of the vehicle, the customer was contacted, the bill was reviewed and the customer came in to pick up his vehicle. The customer paid without questioning the bill and made no attempts to contact Mr. [redacted] or the Service Manager either during the repair or after picking it up to discuss why he had to pay. I can assure no one “threatened” the customer or his wife. I feel Mr. [redacted] is grossly exaggerating the situation in his statement as an attempt to add impact to his story. This contact initiated to the Revdex.com is the first and only time anyone at Route 22 Toyota has been made aware that the customer feels there is an issue. If the repair was able to be covered under the warranty, we happily would have done so; Toyota would have paid us the same amount of money to repair Mr. [redacted]’s vehicle. There would no reason for us to charge the customer if did we did not have to. The customer also claimed he paid $750 for the repairs, and it was actually $692.23.

I am attaching a copy of the invoice and pictures of the damaged wire harness taken by the technician at the time of the repair. Based on the facts presented, we were completely justified to charge Mr. [redacted] and had his approval to do so. We will not be refunding any money back to Mr. [redacted].

Review: On July 29 2015 I buy a 2013 Toyota venza deal#[redacted] vin#[redacted] at Route 22 Toyota dealer. I was charged $299.00 for registration and plates for this car, after a couple of Emails and phone calls I'm still without my ** permanent plates my temporary ** dealer plate expire today Aug 17 2015. I spoke with my sales man Alexis C[redacted] and he state I may be getting my plates in the next few days. So I'm suppose to drive with expired plates when they have more time they need to get my permanent and for the service I already paid for.Desired Settlement: Allow me to get my own plates and refund the money for the service I paid for it $299.00 Also pay for the time I can't use my car after I spend $29,212.60 because their inresponsabilidad.

I am rejecting this response because: Yes I got my plates on 8/21/2015 but I was charged $299.00 on the 7/29/2015 for registration and plates, temporary plates expired on 8/17/2015 forcing me to have park the car in private lot cause it wasn't no longer legally to be on the road.

Review: May 12, 2014. I took my car for service, the mileage was about 24, 916. After the servise was completed and was car was turned over to me. The ride home was wasn't much of problem since the limit was 50miles/hour. On Tuesday May 13, I drove my car to work. As soon as I hit 65 miles on route 78, my car steering and the car as a whole started shaking. I wondered whst happened to the car. I stopped, checked the tires, they were all inflated. I got back into the van and drove under 60miles to work. At work I called Route 22 Toyota to notify the receptionest of my concern and she gave me appointment for May 14. unfortunately, I could not make it that day but I called to cancel the appointment and secure a new one for Saturday May 17. I arrived as early as 7:45. A guy which I could really remember his name but I thought might be a supervisor came out as usual, took my complaints and sent me to wait for the paperwork. He later came in and asked me to sign for papers aand slided it back as I was going sit down in the waiting area, he called me back and informed me that I had to pay to fix the shaking tires and I asked why, he said during the last service they had done tire rotation and allignment was needed. I asked him why was it not done during the last service. He replied it was not covered. I reminded him that was the first time anyone had told me to pay for allignment. it was always done as part of my free service and what changed. he said the miles was now over 25,000. I told him I did not think I had to pay for that. meanwhile this same guy had sold a tire warrantee during earlier service through a compant called Rti Technologies-Nitro Pro. He procedded to say that their liability was limited to just undo the rotation and I said that was unacceptable. He became belligerant and tore the paper and ordered me out of the place. I then drove away. I called the General Manager and left a message. Some called me and I called back several times and no one called me againDesired Settlement: with apology for his behavior

Business

Response:

First of all I want to opoligize for rude and unprfessional behavior by our staff. Our service manager phoned and set up new appointment for him to come in and finish the job. The problem was caused when the tires were rotated one of them needed to be balanced. He felt that we should not be charge for the balancing of the wheel.

Review: To whom it may concern

I have recently relocated to [redacted] and pursuant to [redacted] driving rules, I must apply for a [redacted] Driver’s License and register my car within the state of [redacted] within the first few months. Additionally, to have a [redacted] insurance policy, my car must also be registered in the state of [redacted].

In order to get my car registered in [redacted], I need a copy of my car title. Upon searching through my records, I was able to find my sales contract (DEAL #[redacted]) and all my records associated with purchasing my used 2008 Infiniti FX35 at Route 22 Toyota; however, I was unable to locate the title. After being unable to locate the title, I contacted the state of New Jersey to request a duplicate title; however, to my shock/dismay I was told that Route 22 Toyota was still the title holder for the car so they would not be able to send me a duplicate. I was then notified to contact Route 22 Toyota to have them either send me the title or rectify the situation with the state of New Jersey.

Over the next few weeks, I then contacted Route 22 Toyota over a dozen times using a variety of methods including phone calls, voicemails and LiveChat conversations on their website. I spoke to several people in Customer Service, Sales and Finance with each one re-directing me to a different department for assistance until ultimately they’d take my contact information (and associated details about the transaction) and assure me that "someone" would get back to me with answers. That day has never come.Desired Settlement: In my sales (or retail installment contract), I see that I have paid $349 for “DOCUMENTATION SERVICES” and another $250 for “GOVERNMENT LICENSE AND REGISTRATION FEES”. Seeing as I don’t have the TITLE and the title is currently still registered in their name, clearly they didn’t make good on these services.

As such, I’m requesting either:

1. A refund of my $599 ($345 + $250) for services that they didn’t render, OR

2. They contact me immediately so that we can discuss the quickest way possible for them to sign the title over to me AND send me a copy.

P.S. Honestly, I prefer that someone contacts me as ultimately all I want to do is register MY car in [redacted] and move on with my life.

Response:

Ed C[redacted] CR Manager, spoke to customer today and informed [redacted] that we have received his title. We are mailing it to him and he will be receiving it tomorrow. Additionally, we will be sending [redacted] a goodwill check of $200 as requested by the customer. Ed informed [redacted] going forward, if he has any further concerns he can contact him directly and provided him with his direct phone number.

Review: On 11/16/2013 I walk in to the dealer to purchase a car and the ran my credit and told me that I was approve and gave me a car now I'm driving the car for three months already and now they are telling me they cant get me credit. I try returning the car and they want to take it back. I feel that they are not following the contract that I sign. They also have my trade in.Desired Settlement: I want my old car and return the new on since they cant honor the contract that I sign.

Business

Response:

[redacted] purchased a 20011 Toyota Camry. It was a conditional approval and unfortunately we were unable to get him approved. While he was driving the vehicle he was in an accident. He took the check his insurance company sent to him and Toyota, cashed it and had the car repaired in a sub par way. We are unable to sell the car now since the paint work to an entire side of the car was done poorly. He has agreed to return the Camry and pay us 2,000 to repair the paint work done.

Review: Leased a new car from dealer. When I got home and went over the paperwork they charged me an additional $1,120.00 which was the price of the rebate before taking it back off. In essence the dealer never gave me the rebate on the car, they charged me for the rebate before taking it off leaving me at even. I also have the website ad it clearly states total due at signing was $3,788.00 this included the rebate. I was charged $4868.00. The difference being the rebate I did not receive but was entitled to. This deceptive business practice cost me $1,080.00.

The ad also clearly states the car is 129.00 a month. The ad doesn't say based of credit score. I was told I have to pay 137.99 a month because my credit score was lower than perfect, however this was never stated in the website advertisement.Desired Settlement: The difference in what I paid vs what the ad said is $1080.00, I am seeking a refund for the over-payment at signing of $1,080.00. I will accept and keep the 137.99 a month payments.

I am rejecting this response because: I did meet with route 22 Toyota personnel, and nothing was solved. I would like to amend my complaint. I did get a rebate, however they gave me proof that the ad said I had to put down $2999.00 and they charged me $4090.51 instead, unbeknownst to me. I also overpaid on sales tax.

As per General Manager Alex C[redacted] we agree to take back the customers car no later than Tuesday October 13th 2015. When the car and keys are in our possession we will send a refund request to our Accounting department and the deposit refund will be prepared within two business days, vehicle must be returned without any damage[redacted] needs to call us as soon as possible to let us know when he will be returning the vehicle.

Review: I leased a car from Route 22 Toyota. I thought they didn't give me a rebate, this was wrong on my part. I have the Advertisement I was supposed to pay $2999.00 capital cost reduction but today I got my lease sheet from the dealer I was charged $4090.51. I was over charged 1092.51 on capital cost reduction. I was also suppose to pay 129 a month I am being charged 137.99, for an overcharge of 215.76. I paid 583.53 in sales tax which is also an overcharge as I should have paid 550.55..for an over charge of $32.98. In total I was over charged by the dealer $1341.25Desired Settlement: The dealership can refund me a total of $1341.25 or they can refund me the entire amount I put down $4868.00 and they can have their car back. I would prefer to keep the car and receive the $1341.25 refund, but either way is acceptable to me.

Review: I went to this dealer looking for a specific car and they did not have it in stock yet. They offered a giftcard when you come to visit the showroom. They ask for your drivers license and fill out information. They will send you a [redacted] Gift card.

The salesman who helped me named Richmond told me I would be getting the giftcard in my email. It took about two weeks to contact a manager named Alex C[redacted] He tells me he is taking care of it. I then get an invitation. It was not to the [redacted] giftcard in the original offer. That is fine, but theI link to the code and it tells me it is not valid. I called [redacted] who is on he customer service list and they tell me I have to call the dealer and they cannot help. I had been on on the phone for half hours at a time. I got one email from Alex C[redacted] and sent him screen shots of what happened. He is not getting back to me.

I would say that this dealer leads people on with this to get them in and does not make good on the offer.Desired Settlement: I would like the original gift card. My mom once went to a dealer in Hudson county with a similar offer and there was not issue or problem. She was able to get printed certificate. I think that this company is giving out dead links. They think people won't follow through or something.

Business

Response:

We have resent the customer the [redacted] gift card. I have called the customer and she has confirmed she has received the gift card but is unable to open the email to confirm that it is working because she is currently at work. She will call me later this afternoon to confirm.

Review: This dealership completely messed up the "date of first use" date on my contract and promised to change it to the date it was actually purchased for warranty purposes. They said they completed all paperwork and they haven't and I'm STILL not under warranty. They refuse to return any of my emails or calls and this is the third item they have completely messed up. They also owe me $ for my oil change (that was supposed to be covered under warranty) and said the check was in the mail 2 months ago and I have yet to receive it. Every single point of customer service with this dealership has been abominable.Desired Settlement: I want my check for the oil change, I want my Date of First Use to be officially change to the date I actually bought the car, and I now want Toyota Care and my warranty for an extra year for all this incredible frustration.

Business

Response:

I had request a change in the date of first service, unfortunately I emailed toyota a incorrect Vin with the correct paperwork and was informed at the time the change would take place on 6/10/2014. Did not realize till today their was an error. It has already been addressed. She will have the refund next week.

Review: I purchased a 2009 Toyota Prius from this dealership in 2012. The price was excessive for the mileage and accident history of the vehicle. Furthermore, I was not informed of the prior accident history, and the vehicle did not come with the features according to the VIN number when it was looked up. The sales person failed to inspect the car to make sure that everything that needs to be in the vehicle was there. I recently had a flat tire and it was then that I learned that there were wheel locks on the tires. I was never informed of this and when I attempted to put on the spare tire I discovered that the wheel lock tool was not in the car. The sales person never bothered to look in the car to see if the wheel lock tool was there. Instead it cost me $200 for a tow, $50 just to have a mechanic break off the wheel lock and $100 to have the tire replaced. When all this occurred I contacted the dealership to speak with the salesman who sold me the car and .all he wanted to do was try to get me into another Prius that would have cost me more money, rather than help me to rectify the problem I was having with my current Prius.

I am currently very dissatisfied with this company. When I contacted the dealership for help with the current issues with my vehicle no one at the dealership was willing to provide the help I was seeking. Therefore it was a display of poor customer service. I am trapped in this vehicle for years to come and there is no way I will be able to get out of it due to the dishonesty of the salesman and the dealership.Desired Settlement: I would very much like it if the dealership were to release me from my contract and relieve me from all financial responsibilities of the vehicle. I would like to have the freedom of not having to continue to pay on my current vehicle. I would also like the freedom to work with a car dealership who is honest, trustworthy and show a willingness to help when purchasing a vehicle. And most of all I would also like to have a peace of mind knowing that investment that I make in purchasing a vehicle came from a trustworthy company who has helped me get the best deal possible and within reason.

Business

Response:

I'm really sorry, their is nothing Route 22 toyota can do now. The car was purchased on 9/7/2012 for a fair price. If there was an issue with the vehicle it would have had to be address when the the vehicle was purchased. The only thing we can do now is possibly trade her out of the vehicle.
