Rubicon Reviews (%countItem)

I have been with Rubicon for 6 months. Service was spotty at best. Customer service is non-existent. Never get a person on the phone - "Customer service agents are all busy you are now being transferred to voice mail." I change addresses three months into my service contract which I was sold on that there is now contract. I changed size of dumpster form 8 yard to 2 yard and never received the rate change that I was told would get at the change. When I changed to the new address - six building down the same road, I had to call for service pick up and then they tried to charge me for addition pick ups. I cancelled my contract in March and have been trying to get someone to talk with me about refunding the correct amount for the dumpster size change. I had to call to have the 2 yard dumpster taken away four separate occasions. It took them one month to make that happen.
I set up payment for auto pay to the company credit card - bad move. They continue to charge my card for the monthly - 8 yard dumpster fee. The only way out of this whole mess is cancelling the card and opening new banking accounts - which will cost money as well.
To date I am out $740.00 plus bank fees for service that I don't even have.
Don't even think about changing to this company. They don't even deserve the one star - there should be a zero option.

We recently switched from *** to Rubicon because we, too, as a small business, bought into the sales pitch from Rubicon about all of the money they could save our business, etc. In all fairness, I must say that we had not really experienced problems until last week, when the company failed to dump our dumpster on a regularly scheduled day (i.e. Wednesday). Unfortunately, there is no local number for Rubicon, so I was forced to call their corporate number. I was able to speak with a customer service representative who was very professional and polite and informed me that I would receive a call back from someone that day. By the next day, I still had not heard anything, nor had our dumpster been dumped, so I again called the 844 number as I had no other alternative. I again spoke with a very polite CSR who informed me that she would leave an urgent message for someone to call us back immediately. I advised the CSR that this is the same thing I had been told the day before and it had resulted in no action whatsoever. We were now at Friday before the 3-day Memorial Day weekend and we had trash and debris blowing into our neighboring businesses' yards. I told her that this was entirely unacceptable and asked if there was another number I could call. She did give me two other numbers, however, when I contacted each of those numbers, they were basically just answering services also. I want to stress that each of the CSRs I dealt with could not have been nicer; however, they were not able to resolve the problem for me!! Now to get to the positive part of this review...I received a call FIRST THING this morning from a woman named "Ali". Ali was checking to see if our dumpster had been dumped on Friday (as this was a regularly scheduled day anyhow) and to confirm if we still needed an extra pick-up because of the missed day last week (which we absolutely did as trash/debris had continued to pile up). Ali verified our business address and stated that she would get a hold of the local office to advise that we needed the additional pick-up TODAY, and then we would still need our regularly-scheduled pick-up TOMORROW. Ali then called me back to advise that everything had been taken care of and a truck should be out both days. I am EXTREMELY GRATEFUL for the prompt and friendly service provided by Ali. however, I would caution anyone thinking of switching to Rubicon to read of the reviews VERY CAREFULLY as they are definitely issues within the corporation which still need to be ironed out.

Back in June of 2017 I had contact with someone named *** who said if I transferred waste disposal to Rubicon they can save me almost 50% off my bill. As part of the deal they would cancel my contract with waste management and pay any early termination fees, as well as coordinate the pickup of the WM can. Come to find out, they were actually more expensive than Waste Management, they never cancelled my waste management account, they didn't even contact them at all. What they did do was drop one of their cans. After many phone calls complaining about the false advertising they did to get my business, they finally agreed to cancel my account and pick up their can. They picked up the can and it was never used, ever.

Now suddenly April 2018 they are Auto drafting money from my bank account. That information should have been shredded Last Summer! I've called multiple times this past month to get the issue resolved, talking to a handful of different people. Each time I'm told they're handling the situation or they'll look into the situation or they'll get it to the correct department. On several occasions I was told I would get a refund. One said tomorrow, one said 3 to 5 business days, another said it is processing. On May 1 I did receive an email from someone named Ali Gura who said they have a new system and there is a computer glitch and they will be refunding my money. However, they have not refunded any money, PLUS they just Auto drafted a second month! I am requesting an immediate refund of $254.86.

Desired Outcome

Refund I'm requesting an immediate refund of $254.86.

Rubicon Response • May 29, 2018

In reviewing our records, it appears that only $127.43 remains to be refunded to the customer, as the second $127.43 was never withdrawn. Accordingly, we are refunding the $127.43. If Ms. Anderson can show that our records regarding the second invoice are incorrect, we will refund that amount as well.

Rubicon is trying to collect on a contract that was never fulfilled.
On March 13th, 2018 we were contacted my Rubicon about switching our trash service from Waste Management. They gave us a quote and we accepted. They were to deliver dumpsters to our property on or before April 27th so that we could begin service. Our waste management dumpsters were scheduled to be removed on April 30th. We were told at the time that it was most likely the dumpsters would arrive before April 27th and we would need to make sure space was available, which we did. I contacted *** with Rubicon and emailed him specific locations for each of the dumpsters. It was also explained that it was imperative that we have the dumpsters in place BEFORE waste management removed their dumpsters because we were under contractual obligations with our tenants to always have available dumpsters. On April 30th I contacted Rubicon customer support inquiring about the location of the new dumpsters and was told they were in route to be dropped off. On *** 1, I contacted customer support again and was told the same thing. On *** 2nd we had no other option but to renew our contract with waste Management because the Rubicon dumpsters never showed. Now I am receiving invoices for breach of contract. I spoke with accounting on *** 2nd and was told this account would be closed without penalty because the dumpsters were never delivered, however I received another invoice today for more than the original invoice.

Desired Outcome

Close the account with a zero balance owed. No dumpsters where ever delivered so no breach in contract ever occurred. If any breach occurred, it was on your side for failing to deliver the dumpsters in a timely manner possibly rendering us in breach of contract with our tenants.

Customer Response • May 24, 2018

I was contacted by company representative Benny Meadows and everything was resolved. The contract has been voided and the demand for contract breach compensation has ceased.

I received a notice from my local Hauler terminating my service due to failure to pay for services(Rubicon Global failed to pay them).
On *** 7,2018 I received notice from *** terminating my service due to failure to pay for services. In addition to the latest issues we have had with Rubicon, we have had numerous instances where there were lapses of services in our contract:

Dates of prior complaints for failure to pick up our trash: 9/22/17, 9/29/18, 10/2/17, 10/18/17, 11/4/17, 11/6/17, 11/14/17, 1/8/18, 5/6/18

They should have a folder several inches thick with complaints from us. We have been with Rubicon Global less than one year. We have 9 complaints in that short amount of time. My estimate is that there has been 10 times where trash service was not rendered even though we paid.
I have had many phone conversations with customer service concerning these problems and requesting refunds for services not performed but paid for ($153.33/month auto withdrawal from *** In addition to phone calls I have dozens of email complaints.

These are the names and emails of the customer service agents I have spoken to.

Desired Outcome

1. Termination of the 3 year service contract that has 2 years left. 2. Refund of fees paid for services not provided 12 missed pick-ups X 17.69/pick-up=$212.30

Rubicon Response • May 30, 2018

We are ensuring that the contract has been terminated and the account closed out, and issuing a refund for the requested $212.30.

The response is what I asked for so pending affirmation that Rubicon has followed through with what they said they will do, I accept.

is experiencing a recurring service-problem with the company Rubicon Global. We contracted with them to remove our trash twice a week, and now we have gone for 24 days without a hauler pick-up. (You can imagine how the trash has piled up. It is unsanitary and a health-issue.) After repeated requests for trash pick-up over a number of weeks, with numerous documented phone calls and emails, we have been unable to get a satisfied response of trash pick-up (and now removal of their dumpster) from our location. *** XXXXX.) No amount of pleading or requesting has been able to result in a solution to this problem.

In addition to this, our concrete-block dumpster enclosure sustained damage from one of their drivers placing the dumpster into the back wall. We have been waiting for repairs for many months. The cost to repair the wall has been estimated at $1000. They claim they have been waiting on insurance to resolve, but it doesn't take 120 days to get an opinion.

As of today, we have issued a cancellation of payment from our account to this company. Our contact with Rubicon (who gave us assurance of resolution) was *** What course of action do we have to secure removal of their dumpster and our trash off of our property'
Product_Or_Service: Trash service: pickup twice a week

Desired Outcome

Finish the job Our resolution would be to have Rubicon Global remove the trash off of our property, remove their dumpster, and end our contract with them for non-performance.

Rubicon Response • Nov 09, 2018

"Rubicon has reached out directly to the customer in an effort to resolve this matter and we have made contact. We look forward to a full resolution soon. "

When Rubicon spoke with us about switching to their service they indicated that engaging them for these services was quick and easy and that they would take care of terminating the relationship with Waste Management. They went so far as to walk us through the signup and rush us passed *** service agreement. That was the last contact we had as the issues piled up. They ignored us for several days as bills from Waste Management continued to come in, failed to remove Waste Management's dumpster, and left another blocking it in such that it couldn't be emptied. Their only response came after we attempted to reengage with Waste Management, and they were sent a letter of service termination. At that point they attempted to charge us $1,000 in spite of not having offered any services and failing their obligations in regards to smooth transition. They have returned to absolute silence since giving us the $1,000 ultimatum. Their actions have resulted in our being trapped into multiple agreements with no possible service.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment We are asking that they agree to our termination of their service without the exorbitant cancellation fee. We are asking that they remove the dumpster that has been placed on our property.

We have connected with the customer and working to resolve this issue.

4 months with this joke of a company!! Dumpster never picked up as scheduled! Customer service is non existent!
Had so many issues they finally let me out of my contract! They would rather me use another service provider than fix the issues they have! This is an upper management issue and the $@%t trickles down hill...unfortunately the customer is the one who suffers! Only gave 1 star because 0 was not an option! NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH RUBICON!

Rubicon Response • Mar 26, 2018

Hello,

Our apologies for the lack of service, it looks like you worked with several customer service reps and the customer service manager who all did their best to help get you serviced. It looks like we confirmed you were recovered on 3/9 and I am very pleased to see that you continue to be a Rubicon customer. If you ever need anything please feel free to reach out to our support team.

I WAS DUPED BY MY BLINDNESS TO NOT READ THE FULL CONTRACT. TWO REPRESENTATIVES FROM RUBICON CAME TO OUR SMALL BUSINESS TO SOLICIT US TO CHANGE OUR ACCOUNT WITH ***. THE SALES PITCH WAS GREAT. THE REPRESENTATIVE OFFERED A RATE ON THE SAME CONTAINER SIZE AND SAME AMOUNT OF PICK UPS FOR ABOUT HALF THE PRICE OF WHAT WE WERE PAYING FOR WITH ***. FURTHERMORE, THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE BUYOUT TO TERMINATE THE EXISTING CONTRACT WITH ***. THE REPRESENTATIVE FOR RUBICON SHOWED US A SINGLE PAGE " SIGN HERE" CONTRACT. IN THE ELATION THAT WE WERE GOING TO PAY NEARLY HALF THE AMOUNT CLOUDED MY BETTER JUDGEMENT AND I SIGNED. THE COMPANY DROPPED OFF THE THEIR CONTAINER AS SCHEDULED BUT SHORTLY AFTER THE FIREWORKS STARTED. I RECIEVED LETTERS FROM THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT FROM *** DEMANDING THEIR BUYOUT FEES AS WELL AS USAGE OF THEIR CONTAINER AND REFUSED PICK UP OF THE CONTAINER UNTIL ALL MONETARY EXPENSES WERE SETTLED. NOW I HAVE TWO DUMPSTERS IN MY PARKING LOT TAKING UP PARKING SPACE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM RUBICON TO ASK HIM WHAT IS GOING ON. HE REPLIED THAT THE PAYOUT WAS BEING PROCESSED. IN THE MEANTIME, THE CALLS FROM *** AND THEIR LEGAL DEPARTMENT KEPT COMING IN. I CALLED THE RUBICON REP TO LET HIM KNOW THAT I WAS FED UP WITH THE THREATANING CALLS AND THAT IN ALL THE YEARS IN BUSINESS I HAD NEVER BEEN PUT IN THAT TYPE OF SITUATION. I RECIEVED A CALL FROM A DIFFERENT REP NAMED JOSH WHICH WAS TRYING TO CONVINCE ME THAT THEY WERE PROCESSING THE PAYMENT. AT THIS POINT I TOLD HIM THAT TOO LITTLE TO LATE. I TOLD HIM THAT IF THEY HAD DROPPED OF THE CONTAINER THREE WEEKS EARLIER HOW COULD IT BE THAT THEY DIDN'T COMPLETE WHAT THEY HAD PROMISED TO DO. I TOLD HIM THAT THE WHOLE THING HAD LEFT A BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH AND WE HAD JUST STARTED WITH THEM. THEIR REP DID A 180 AND SAID THAT HE WAS FINAL BILLING US. FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER I WAS E-MAILED WITH A BILL FOR LIQUIDATION OF CONTRACT AND DUMPSTER PICK UP. A TOTAL OF $5010.00 WAS BILLED TO US. I SEEKED LEGAL HELP AND FOUND MYSELF HANDCUFFED BECAUSE IT WOULD COST MORE IN LEGAL EXPENSES TO CHALLENGE THAN TO PAY THEM OFF. BEING A SMALL BUSINESS, I CANT AFFORD TO GO THROUGH THE LEGAL PROCESS. BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT IF I COULD I WOULD SPEND A MILLION DOLLARS TO CHALLENGE THIS OUTRAGEOUS BILL. BEWARE OF RUBICON GLOBAL. I WILL PAY THIS BILL AND MOVE ON WITH OUR LIVES.

Rubicon Response • Apr 02, 2018

We sent the termination notice on 2/2/2018, effective 2/14/2018.

WM sent a termination notice, which is not dated, however, it was sent certified, however, when you type the tracking number into google, it says that is not a valid tracking number.

Only 7 days later, the customer was sent to collection, before the actual termination date was even effective. When this was sent to me, I reached out to the customer to tell him that we were paying this and I wanted to make sure he was either going to stick with us or not, and he would not even talk to me. It is our belief that the customer cancelled the service with their incumbent hauler and shopped our rate.

If the site would have worked with us in any way we would have helped them work out their billing issues with their previous hauler.

Rubicon Global, LLC is a contracting company for waste management, I was considering changing to their services from our current services. I was told my rate would be significantly lower, I received a quote and I asked the agent to hold processing until I returned from sick leave. The contract was put in place, without my consent. I contacted the company to find out why I had received an invoice for services and was given a complete refund for services never rendered and was told my contract was cancelled and would be removed from the billing cycle. I then received an invoice for $4770.00 for damages. When I contacted the company to speak to the account manager, I was told that person no longer worked for the company. I asked for a full refund since services were never in place and I was told I had to pay for damages. This company is completely fraudulent, everyone that I had contact with "no longer is available". The customer service department only takes messages, I would not recommend this company. They bait you with false information to get you to sign up, then when there is a problem, no one is ever available to discuss.
Product_Or_Service: Waste Management

Desired Outcome

Refund I have disputed the charge on my credit card, I tried working with them to get a refund processed but I was given the run around. I would like a full refund.

Charging for a service they are not providing.
I have called over 5 time and have received zero dumpsters but have been charged for. I have had to call and tell them to cancel my payment and return the charges. they say they need to talk to their finance department and they will call you later. They never call. this company is a scam, and I am now scared that they have my information.

Desired Outcome

i I would live for someone to investigate this business, there is something phishy going on.

Rubicon Response • Nov 20, 2018

Rubicon has reached out directly to the customer in an effort to resolve this matter. We look forward to a full resolution soon.

They do not deliver on the services they bill you for.
I switched from Waste Managment to Rubicon a few months ago. It should have been straightforward enough, but has been a disaster. In just a few months' time we've had at least 8 missed pick-ups of our dumpsters. When I contact customer service they assure me that they are looking into the problem and will get back to me, but they never do. They won't even tell me what the buy out is on my contract so I can switch providers.

On at least 3 occasions they have promised me that I would receive a credit for the missed pickups. That has never happened, despite following up many times. I have dozens of emails from Rubicon full of promises that have been completely discarded by them.

Desired Outcome

I want to be released from my contract with no fee and I want a refund of at least 2 months of service to compensate for the number of missed pickups and the fact that they have already billed me for February and I will be using another service by that time.

Rubicon Response • Feb 15, 2018

Hello,

This has been resolved. We changed the customer's service provider and credited her account for the time she was not serviced.

I'm Being charged via bank draft for thrash pick up that I dont have.
thrash pick up was to start on 9-8 17. Was told they couldn't find a hauler in my area. They have never picked up my trash but have taken $375.00 form my bank. Called several times and emailed but no response from anyone.

Desired Outcome

Refund

Customer Response • Jan 25, 2018

Rubicon Global contacted me today and we are working on a refund.
Thank you.

No such thing as customer satisfaction or service.
This company is SO good at making you feel like joining them will be the BEST choice you could make for your business. They will give you a low rate, and call you back..UNTIL you sign up. Good luck getting anyone to call you back or not hang up on you. I have nothing positive to say about any facet of their so called "customer service" department. We signed up for service to begin on 11/1 and nothing was ever delivered. No call. Nothing. So we called them, and said forget it, obviously you do not care about customer service. So we have at this point received NO service. No phone calls back. And yet we are being charged for ONE MONTH of service and a liquidation charge. What are you liquidating? The dumpster that was NEVER delivered? The contract you never contacted WM about? The calls you never responded to? This charge will not be paid. This company is beyond unprofessional. Completely dishonest.

Desired Outcome

We would like a full refund, as services were NEVER provided.

Rubicon Response

Spoke to *** on 12/4 and all charges that were charged to the account were refunded to the business on 12/5. The account is now closed and will not be charged further.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
The account has been closed.

I can not wait to cut ties with this Rubicon. In the 4 months we have been with Rubicon there are only two weeks they actually came on schedule. I have spent way too much time on the phone attempting to have them follow through with scheduled pick-ups. I have terminated my contract with them and they are now two days late to pick up their receptacles. I was also told I would not be charged for the removal of the receptacles because our business has had such poor service. Of course we were charged.I have called repeatedly with no response.

Rubicon has not dumped my dumpster in 2 weeks trash is piling up in my business. No able to operate my business properly. Not sanitary very unhealthy. Please help!!! They didn't forget to charge me!!!

Desired Outcome

Contact by the Business Refund and dump my trash!!!!

Rubicon Response

Our apologies to this customer for the issues they had with their service. This was resolved the following day on 10/21, the containers were emptied and trash was removed from the location. Customer will be credited for one week of missed service.

Customer Response

Customer Response

Trash not picked up again this week dumpster is over full please help

Rubicon Response • Oct 17, 2018

We spoke with the site manager as we were unable to reach the owner. The manager states that services have resumed as normal. We will have the missed pickup on 11/7 credited to your account. If you have any further issues please contact us at *** you can reach me directly at***. Once again our apologies for the issues but per the store manager these issues have been resolved.

I had signed up to allow Rubicon Global to handle our Waste needs since they determined they would save us money over our current Waste Management Co. that was handling our needs. They advertised no contracts and that we could cancel at any time with no penalties.
Before any Rubicon Global could deliver any equipment to our location I cancelled our agreement and decided to stay with Waste Management. I have since received an Invoice for $2779.28 and it is titled "Liquidated Damages"
This is totally bogus should not stand.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) This invoice should be credited back to us in the full amount as there were no services rendered on their part.

This customer signed an agreement with us on 6/26/2017 at 11:45AM PDT.

We received the following notification from the customer on 7/25/17:
"we had a change of heart and decided to stay where we are with Waste Management. Last week we sent a letter to confirm our decision but we never heard from you in regard to our decision."

The terms and conditions of the signed agreement can be viewed in full at:

***

In section 3, sub-section 5 Early Cancellation Fees, it states that, if a customer terminates the contract between the day the contract is signed and 90 days after bin drop, the customer shall pay the damages party, Rubicon Global, liquidated damages in order to recoup a portion of the loss the injured party experienced.

Below I have the exact wording, please let me know if you have any questions:

In the event of an Unauthorized Early Customer Termination that occurs between the date this Agreement is signed by Customer 6/26/2017 at 11:45AM PDT and the date that is ninety (90) days after the date that Rubicon's waste container is dropped at the service address (the "Bin Drop Date"), Customer shall pay an Early Cancellation Fee equal to: (a) repayment of any liquidated damages/fees paid by Rubicon to an incumbent provider on behalf of Customer for purposes of terminating Customer's contract with the incumbent provider; and (b) an amount equal to six (6) times the monthly Service Fees then in effect. In the event of an Unauthorized Early Customer Termination that occurs between the date that is ninety-one (91) days after the Bin Drop Date and the last day of the Initial Term or then-current renewal term, Customer shall pay an Early Cancellation Fee equal to repayment of any liquidated damages/fees paid by Rubicon to an incumbent provider on behalf of Customer for purposes of terminating Customer's contract with the incumbent provider. In addition to the liquidated damages specified in subparts (a) and (b) above, if Customer fails to provide Rubicon with at least thirty (30) days' prior notice of termination, Customer shall pay an additional (i.e. in addition to the payments described in subparts (a) and (b) above) Early Cancellation Fee in an amount that is equal to one month of Service Fees."

We can void this invoice should the customer wish to honor their agreement with us. We also remain willing to pay any damages associated with the termination of the customer's current contract for waste services.

Customer Response

I the contract it states in section 3, sub-section 5 Early cancellation fees, it states that, if a customer terminates the contract between the day the contract is signed and 90 days after bin drop, the customer shall pay the damages party, Rubicon Global, ect ect.

The day I cancelled the contract we did not a have a Rubicon Global "bin drop" at my location. In fact it was over a week that we originally cancelled, that they tried to deliver the waste bin. We denied delivery at that time. They are trying to penalize me for their lack of coordination.

Rubicon Response

The customer is taking the position that because they allegedly sought to terminate the contract with Rubicon before a bin was dropped, that they are not liable to pay early cancellation fees. This argument is baseless. The contract is clear that the "Effective Date" is the date "on which the Customer signs the Agreement," which in this case was June 26, 2017. As the customer notes in his response, the "Early Cancellation Fees" in Section 3 Subsection 5 of the contract signed by the customer apply "in the event of a termination of this Agreement by Customer prior to the end of the Initial Term," and specifically in this case this termination took place "between the date the Agreement was signed by Customer and the date that is ninety (90) days after the date that Rubicon's waste container is dropped at the service address . . . ." The fact that the customer allegedly terminated the contract before the bin dropped, and then refused to allow the bin to be dropped, does not change the fact that the customer terminated after the contract was signed and before 90-days after the "Bin Drop Date." Accordingly, the amounts reflected on the invoice sent to the customer are properly owed.

Rubicon has a right to enforce the binding contract signed by this customer. We remain willing, however, to void the invoice and provide service to the customer if they would like to honor their agreement with us.
