the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
A generic response that they are not in control of their business practices is not acceptable.  They did not even attempt to offer any mitigating factors such as help in finding an alternative service or recommending what to do at midnight at an airport after being stranded by this company. I know I was not the only person at this site with the same issue, because the customer service person was also apologizing to a person at their counter in the background of my phone call.

How could I have possibly known what "RSP" meant when it was never explained and "Nikki" never asked if I wanted to pay for roadside assistance? Also - I want to see a copy of the signed agreement with my actual signature - Payless needs to provide that. Also I am confused because I just got an email saying I would receive a refund. Is Payless reneging on that?

From looking at the "estimated" invoice it showed the 1 RSP (roadside) with a daily and weekly rate; below that was the XM radio with the same daily and weekly rates.  Below that was an estimated total optional service of $48.95.  I never was advised to accept or decline the...

Roadside.  I questioned the XM and Joshua reconfirmed it was only going to be $6.00 for the weekend and the rates listed were because of the "hold" they needed to put on my card.When I returned I attempted to resolve the issue that night, but was handed a card and told to call back tomorrow.  I am attaching the rental agreement that shows where I accepted the charges for the $48.95, again without knowledge of the RSP.  then the final receipt shows each XMR and RSP at a daily rate which doesn't equal the total charged.

On 1/15/16 I came to this location to pickup a rental car that I previously made reservation for prior to my arrival. I was initially given a car that was recently in a car accident with a cracked front bumper. After 2 miles of driving the car, I attempted to notify the local office on my rental agreement. It local number kept being reroute to the 800 call center. So I drove back to the office to request a different vehicle because I was traveling out of town and it drove funny. I was given a different vehicle, problem solved. Upon my return to drop off the vehicle, the same young lady cash out my contract. When I told her that she over charged my credit car, she told me that I need to contact the 800 number to get it fixed. I did just that and was told I need to wait 72 hours for a resolution. It has been 5 days later and no one has called or my credit card has not being credit. Everyone is passing the buck to someone else (local office and corporate). Please, please watch your invoice, ask questions prior to being cash out and don't leave the local office until your issue is resolved. I'm out of $24 which is another day of rental.

Do not rent from them! I was rented a vehicle and when I got out of state the oil light came on. Checked the oil, and there was NONE in there. Called to report and they told me to stop my vacation and take it to a [redacted] dealer and get an oil change or buy some and put it in there myself. Then on the same trip a day later, I was pulled over by a state trooper. The plates on the vehicle were expired! I was given a warning because it was a rental and it was due to no fault on my own. The company had taken a 2016 sticker and just placed it on the car. The cop even let me take a pic of his computet screen. When I brought this to the attention of the manager I was told that my story couldn't be true and no cop would let me take a pic of his computer. I even showed him the pic and he said it looked altered. I received no apology for my inconvenience and def no compensation. I will NEVER rent from them again!
