TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT USE THEM
They are not concerned at all with the customer experience. After the move, good luck getting in touch with them. They did not use professional movers so a lot of walls were damaged. They were 6 hours late for my move and showed up with a filthy rental truck. They had no moving blankets - even though they say on the front page of their website that they use them - so much of my furniture was damaged. They ignored attempts from Home Advisor (where I found them) to use their free arbitration service. They will not admit their negligence so they want to pay a measly $300 to repair my furniture. That amount won't repair one piece!

Unified Moving has standing authorization to debit monthly storage fees from the card ending in 6150 on the 3rd of every month. It is the 8th. But I have not received electronic receipt for January, acknowledgement, or responses to my requests. Faxes to the company provided facsimile number and emails to [email protected] fail or bounce back. This is my seventh attempt to obtain an electronic receipt and this refusal to provide monthly receipts until the bill has quadrupled.

Safeway Movers Response • Jan 26, 2020

We have been sending the receipt generated by the merchant service system for monthly storage payment. This customer has been constantly harassing us. At this point, we are not sure, what do to.

I am rejecting this response because:

Unified Moving Service (UMS) refuses to debit the account automatically on the 3rd of the month. And is now engaging in mischaracterization because numerous requests for receipts (the January payment required nine e-mails before UMS finally deigned to respond with one showing the payment was not debited until January 7, 2020! That is a fact. The same with the December, November, and October payments respectively.) In the past, this problem resulted in the monthly payment doubling, tripling, quadrupling; and, in one case, notification from the company that it was moving to seize my property for non-payment. It is UMS's refusal to cooperate by sending out timely receipts that is driving the problem, not me harassing a vendor who has my house and office in storage. And the catty response is as unbelievable as it is instructive for any reasonable person reading it critically.

Based on our move experiences in late September 2019 we do not recommend Unified Moving Services.

We downsized our large family home into a townhouse approximately 30 miles away. A sales representative from the Unified Moving Services company came to our house and provided us with an estimate of two trucks and a crew of five.
On September 26th, the day of our move, the Unified movers showed up two hours late. No one from the Company called to let us know they were going to be late. Additionally, they showed up with only one truck as the other truck was broken down back at the company’s garage – dead battery. On arrival the Unified crew chief asked me if I wanted to save a lot of money. He said that the Unified Sales rep had overestimated the job and that he could fit all our house goods onto one truck. Additionally, he would send one of the mover crew back which would reduce the labor cost. The pack and truck loading of our goods went okay. There was one ½ inch gouge in a stair wall, but for the most it went okay. Unified stored our goods for two nights at their warehouse.

Problems began once Unified began to move our house goods into the townhouse on September 28th. The move in was very rushed as the crew had a second job after ours. After an hour the Crew Chief and one of his movers departed saying they were unneeded and were heading to their second job. All our heavy furniture had not been unloaded into our three-floor townhouse. The walls of the townhouse were gouged in many places. Much of our furniture, particularly the Master bedroom furniture, was badly gouged as well. Our brand-new $2,500 Serta King bed was also irreparably damaged because Unified didn’t pack the bed correctly. The bed was no longer flat, it had bulges like little hills as high as a foot on the surface of the bed. Lastly, a $40 Ingolf makeup stool had the seat torn from the legs.

The Unified mover who was left in charge became angry particularly after we pointed out all the damage to the walls and our furniture. Also, boxes were left in our garage and not placed in the correct room – 3 floors up. Also, I had to ask them to assemble the Televisions. Clearly, the crew chief should not have left with the other mover. The move into the townhouse went much longer than anticipated. As the crew became more tired, the number of mistakes rapidly increased. The crew literally ran out of the townhouse when they were complete. We called our contacts at Unified Moving Services and told him that the crew were rude and angry and described the damage to our house and goods.

Once the truck was headed out of our new neighborhood, I turned on my 65” *** HD 4K tv. The TV which cost $2,245 in November 2016 was damaged, the upper left quadrant of the TV was cracked. After 10 minutes, the TV was completely inoperable and now sits in our garage waiting for the insurance adjuster from Unified to inspect the damage.

The claim form is difficult to fill in unless you are doing it in pen. It took me 5 hours to fill out the insurance form from Unified. I included detailed descriptions and pictures of the damage. To complete the form, We submitted the documentation for the insurance claim on October 1, 2019. Per our contract with Unified they have 30 days to respond to our insurance claim. It is now 44 days since we submitted our insurance. We have placed many calls to Unified Moving Services to get a status on our claim, been given the runaround and so far we have had no response from Unified Moving Services. We are considering litigation to recover our losses from United’s incompetent services.

At this point, we have nothing more to add. We will communicate to him with the claim settlement by tomorrow and take care of this. Thanks

Safeway Movers Response • Jan 09, 2020

The customer was given an option to purchase full insurance from a third part (we don't see insurance) and declined it. Out responsibility is state mandated US$0.60 per pound and we are willing to settle it.

I am rejecting this response because:
My claim with United Movers is not restricted to the weight of the damaged items as United Moving damaged my home by gouging and denting drywall and paint throughout the home. Additionally, United Moving was negligent in not exercising reasonable care in loading, packing, moving, transporting, storing while in transit, unloading, or otherwise taking possession or control of my household goods.
Damage to the home consisted of deep scrapes and extensive marks on many walls, gouged and dented drywall, which requires drywall repair and repainting of hallways in 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor stairwells, and walls on the 1st and 2nd floor. My submitted claim for the home damage is $250, which is well below the actual cost to repair and repaint. Regardless, United Moving is responsible for the damages to the home.
Clearly, the damages caused by the incompetence and negligence by the Unified Moving team lie outside of the weight-based claim amount. Under subsection § 7-309. Duty of care; contractual limitation of carrier's liability of the Maryland Household Goods Movers Act, Maryland Commercial Law Code, Unified Moving did not take reasonable care in moving our items. United Moving’s incompetence and negligence does not meet the “reasonable care” in Maryland law. Unified Moving was negligent in carelessly packing and transporting the 65” *** TV, which when unpacked and set up has a cracked screen and is inoperable.
Additionally, United Movers misrepresents on their website their competence to load, pack, move, transport, store while in transit, unload, or otherwise take possession or control of a consumer’s household goods. Obviously, Unified Moving does not practice what it preaches. On United Moving’s website they state “All of our drivers and movers are trained by us to do things "the PERFECT Way". They learn how WE want them to physically handle all items. Prior to being hired, they undergo extensive background check and training.”
Lastly, United Moving’s website states “The entire team at Unified Moving Services takes extreme pride in providing a unique and stress free customer service experience from beginning to end, from packing to installing.” Well, it certainly hasn’t been stress free and we have spent a great deal of time and effort in pursuing United Moving for three and a half months to satisfactorily resolve our claim. We made a reasonable claim given the poor performance of the entire Unified Moving team from management to individual movers. We will accept the $1,790 that we submitted in our claim.

Regards

RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Don't be fooled by the so-called "Veteran Owned Company" line... there is absolutely NO honor or integrity with this company- perhaps we should have asked exactly WHO was a Veteran and IF they were actually discharged with an Honorable Discharge or not? They are a TOTAL disgrace to Honorable Veterans. My husband and I are BOTH USAF Veterans and we are completely disappointed with this company.
Baskar V and Ovid S are the owners. Marc Z is the manager. This review is for the Unified Moving Services in Hyattsville. Don't let them tell you these bad reviews are for another company.
Where to start??? Marc is a smooth-talking operator, both before the move and after, but despite all his smooth talk, nothing EVER gets resolved. We received a quote - with someone showing up and doing a household walk-through so that it was as accurate a quote as possible. Then, on moving day, the crew showed up and instantly began saying there was "way more than we planned on" and "this is going to cost a lot more because of...." and the complaints and excuses started. They sent out a "Manager" who was rude and condescending and he declared that the move couldn't possibly be done without another $2,500.00 charge!! The move is held up until you agree to pay additional money.
Meanwhile, the "packers" and "movers" were not experienced packers and movers and failed to pack our items correctly or pad our furniture correctly. As a result, we ended up with approximately $3-5,000.00 worth of damage to our household goods. We have a file with pictures of all the damage to back up this claim. China, Plates, Dishes, Collectibles, Desks, Bar Stools, Tables, Lamps, Pictures.... you name it, it was damaged. Many items were one of a kind items we got as we travelled the world in the military.
They damaged our brand-new house's walls, floors and door frames. When we summarized and itemized the damage done, complete with pictures, we got the ultimate runaround. Marc seemed sympathetic and then ultimately stopped taking our calls... our emails and forms that we submitted for insurance purposes was constantly rejected and we were told we needed ridiculous items of information in order to process the claim... like "how much does each individual item weigh" "how much was the original price" "how much is the current price" "what year was the item purchased" (keep in mind many items were 20+ years old and had been bought around the world and couldn't be priced currently because the items were no longer available!!!) - you name it and they were asking us to provide unreasonable amounts of information for each and every item (including quotes from a company to have the walls, door frames, floors, etc... fixed) before they would even consider the insurance claim.
Needless to say, we were unable to provide every little detail that they demanded and, therefore, our insurance claim was deemed invalid and we were never compensated one dime for all the thousands of dollars of damage to our house and personal items.
Total scam. Total Disappointment. RUN AWAY!!!! Do NOT use this company. If possible, I would give absolutely "Negative Stars" or "No Stars" for this review. Unfortunately, you have to give at least "One" Star, or you can't submit your review.

Awesome timely, professional and mostly caring about putting furniture in its rightful place! Single mom and from apt to house. They took apart put together and was so concerned. Best thing to was affordable especially for me.?? Thanks team!! ?

On 5/29/19 Unified Moving Services LLC picked up furniture for a short storage timeframe then delivery to a new address in another state. When delivery of the furniture was delivered there were several pieces damaged. The damages were mostly scrapes where the furniture was scraped against something enough to damage the finish. One piece of solid wood piece of furniture was in separated from the main piece. Only one item did not make it in the move. It was galvanized water can with a fountain and rocks stored inside.
The damage was reported and acknowledged on the day of the move although it took over 22 unanswered calls and several voice messages made before someone from Operations returned my calls. It wasn't until then that the main office sent a Claim Form via email, something they said would be mailed out the day I made the initial compliant.

On 6/10 I able to get through to a live person at 10:12am and explained the situation. I was told by the person on the other end and I quote "OH IS THAT SO", then was told someone from Operations would call me back today. That never happen.

Besides the missing watering can, a dinning room table, a long master bedroom dress, the dining room table, end table an antique secretary and antique china cabinet converted to a entertainment center were damaged.

I am rejecting this response because:Sending a claim form to document the damages to our furniture and the lost of an item does not excuse Unified Moving from their responsibility. Their neglect to deliver my furniture in the same good/undamaged condition as it was when they moved it from my home is the issue.

Also when I think about it Unified was very fast to respond to my inquiries and questions prior to our move but when trying to contact them about my concerns after delivery of our furniture 20 plus unanswered calls going to voice mail ( even to the operator) is not acceptable for any company.

I hired this moving company on May 2nd. Their employees came smelling of alcohol and cursed at me. They damaged many of my antique belongings and ripped my couch. I paid them in full. I filed a claim based on their protocol and submitted it on May 7th. After calling daily to see if my claim was received I was emailed on May 20th that they got the claim. Another email was sent saying I need to resend my claim. I resent it immediately and again received no communication regarding if the claim was received after numerous phone calls and emails. After continuous correspondence and phone calls asking the status of my claim, I have still not received any information about my claim, and damaged belongings. They company and its administration; Mark, Tony, Brain in operations refuse to return my calls and provide any information regarding my claim or pay for the damage that they caused in my move even though I have paid in full for the terrible service. This company ignores customers after their employees have provided a poor and reckless service.

Our organization has just received claim form from customer. We have talked with customer several time concerning this incident. Allow 20-30 days to review claim for receipt of claim. Again currently under review.

Move went Great . Chris and his crew did a phenomenal job . Have had some poor moves in the past but Unified Moving Services exceeded my expectations .

From start to finish, the move was exceptional. The sales staff was knowledgeable, courteous, and answered all of my questions. The movers were efficient and polite. I would definitely recommend this company!

Overall I had a really good experience with Unified Moving Services and would use them again. I was moving from one residence to another with a 1-week gap between move-out/move-in dates (Sept 29 and Oct 6). I liked using one business to move and store my stuff without coordinating movers and storage with two companies. Marc was very professional and willing to help work out the logistics. As soon as the moving men arrived, they rolled up their sleeves and went to WORK! I was almost shocked at how fast they finished putting my stuff on the truck. I lived in a 2-br apt, 3 flights of stairs, and LOTS of boxes and furniture, so I thought they wouldn't be done until late afternoon/early evening. I think they were finished in roughly 3 or 3.5 hours. (That may be the industry standard, but I'm used to taking 2 days to move myself with the help of a few friends.) When they were running late for the first move because of switching out trucks, the driver called to give me an update on their ETA. For the second phase, the movers arrived on time, and the process went considerably smoother because I could use the building freight elevator. I received my moving deposits from my old and new residences. The only thing I've found (so far) that was broken was a full-length mirror and a couple of lamp shades (cheap things I bought from Walmart or Marshalls so I didn't really care). If there was anything I didn't want to risk losing or breaking, I did my best to move it myself. I will say the total cost was a bit higher than I thought it would be. I think I overestimated the number of men and the number of hours needed because of the amount of boxes and the stairs. However, with all that was going on, I'd rather pay more for a smooth move instead of a cheap, disastrous one.

I will keep this short as possible because I have so many places to post this story. If you get scammed by Unified Moving Services, I suggest you post to Yelp, Google Reviews, FB, HomeAdvisor, and Revdex.com. Reddit also has a subreddit called “movinghelp” and “scams.” I haven’t gotten around to posting everywhere yet, but I will. We all need to pull together to avoid the continuation of the unethical business practices of the owners, Baskaran (Baskar) V and Ovid Se***.
Before I even tell you about how Unified lost a third of my wife’s and my property, let me warn you about their fake online reviews. There are at least two websites where the owner himself posts a review of his own company. Since it is so difficult to find out that Baskar V and Ovid S are the owners of Unified, Baskar took it upon himself to act like a customer to his own company. So, it is clear that they manipulate their own customer service reviews.
By the way, it is very difficult to find out about whom exactly the owners of Unfied are because there is no record online and their lawyer did the incorporation for them. Thus, you don't know who to complain to. In various online places Baskaran V says he works for a place called Ellucian and Ovid S says he works for a place called ***, Inc. I don’t know if they actually work at places called *** and ***, but they are definitely the owners of Unified Moving Services, LLC.
Unified also is claiming that another company is scamming them by using the name “Unified” and performing scam behavior. I have my doubts as I have spoken to some of the victims directly and they said that they are not mistaken. This negative review that I am writing is for the Unified Moving Services in Hyattsville, MD, owned by Baskaran V and Ovid S. It is managed by Marc Z and some guy named Tony.
Unified called the morning of the move and said that 10% of our property was destroyed by a forklift accident that morning (my property was stored with them for five weeks while our new house was being built). I told them to take photos and to deliver the damaged property regardless of how bad it was destroyed. The manager said that he would definitely deliver what was damaged. However, they did not. And they said that they forgot to take photos of the damaged property. Why would they not deliver or photograph the damaged items? I think the answer is clear, but I will let you draw your own conclusion.
Then, they delivered our property, but only about 2/3rds of our total possessions arrived. So, it wasn’t just 10% of our items, it was much more! We added up the value of what was lost, and it was, at least, an $8,000 loss. And, of course, you can’t even put a price tag of some items of sentimental value, like artwork and a framed marriage certificate of my wife’s grandparents that has been in the family for 80 years.
They told us that, yes, some of our property was destroyed in the forklift accident, but additionally a bunch of other stuff was lost in their warehouse. That’s it. That’s the only explanation. Destroyed and lost. No photos, no broken items, no evidence of anything.
Over the past ten weeks, my wife and I have tried in vain to get Unified to pay for the missing items. They have dodged our calls, and they have never proactively called us. We have to repeatedly call them. Various representatives of the company have been aggressive and rude to us. Finally, Baskaran V offered $1,600 of the $8,000 loss. We told him that this is unacceptable, but we would accept $3,500 just to put this nightmare behind us. Then, Baskaran stopped replying to us.
As of today, this is where we stand. Baskaran is not contacting us and we have received zero compensation.

This customer was paid more than what is required statutorily. The case is settled to his satisfaction.

This moving company when well beyond the call of duty to get me and my family out of our old place and into the new place within hours, their can to approach was the best, what a great team!

We used unified moving services this past Friday. When we started this process about two weeks ago, we spoke with Marc who was extremely helpful with our stressful situation of trying to find a moving company quick who could store our belongings for approximately a month before we move into our new home. He was friendly and helped alleviate our stress and anxiety. The day of the move we received a phone call in the morning confirming our move and letting us know an estimated time. The three young men who came to move us were Devon, Artys and Desmond and we could not be happier with the professional job they provided! They were efficient, quick and friendly and they made our moving day so much easier. They were exactly what you would look for when researching movers. We are hoping they will be available for our next move. We would recommend Unified moving services to anyone looking for a smooth, easy move.

They made a long distance move (from MD to FL) carefree from beginning to end. They did an in-home estimate, full-pack INCLUDING all boxes & packing materials for a great price. It took longer than expected to pack, but the guys stayed until it was done. They were excellent! Not one item damaged and not a mark on the walls or floors. Very conscientious & gentle. Highly recommend!

This was our 4th time using Unified Movers. From start to finish, speaking with Marc and setting the move up to moving day was perfect. The guys were wonderful, pleasant and they knew what they were doing. Everything was moved and placed in our new location in one day with no issue.

I had a wonderful experience with the movers from Unified Moving. The workers were friendly, courteous and move all my items in a timely manner.

From start to finish Marc and his guys were a pleasure to do business with. Showed up on time and packed out our 5 bd rm/3.5 bath house in one day. They handled our belongings like they were their own. Best part is they beat out all of their competition on price. I would hire Unified again in a heart beat.

From the time I went online to look for a moving company, to someone calling a few days prior to confirm details, to the guys arriving and moving my house out then in to a new home, everyone was very professional and respectful.

I was very apprehensive about hiring a moving company after a horrific experience the prior year. Unified Moving Services will now be my go to. They took pride in their work; took care of each and every piece of my furniture and I never once heard a complaint about how heavy my furniture is. They hustled to get the job done making sure they exceeded my expectations. I have moved 6 times in the last 22 years and UMS will now be my go to Company for any future moves! Thank you!!!

Provided good service. Good communications throughout the move process.
