Salego Heating and Air Conditioning Inc Reviews (24)

Review: On May 27, our air conditioner in our home (home we purchased less than a year ago) stopped working. Since we have a home warranty and had never used it, we opted to order a service call from [redacted] ([redacted]). A technician from Salego was dispatched to our home for diagnostics and an estimate. As of today, June 11, [redacted] has yet to receive an estimate for repair from the Salego technician so they have been unable to proceed with authorizing the repair. On June 10, [redacted] escalated the case/repair (I'm unaware of what that means from [redacted]'s perspective). I have called the Salego office, [redacted] has called their office (sometimes 2-3 times per day) and every day, the receptionist, Debbie, has stated that the technician is aware and will call in the estimate.

Today, June 11, after being unable to find an email address for the owner, Andy S[redacted], I wrote to him through Facebook email to let him know that I would no longer be in need of his service. I came home today to find my English Bulldog had passed away due to heat stroke. I called another HVAC company who responded immediately and are currently at my home while I am typing this repairing our air conditioner at my expense instead of waiting on Salego and [redacted]. I opted for this because I don't want to risk losing my other dog due to it being more than 90 degrees in my home.Desired Settlement: I urge Mr. S[redacted] to take action to improve both his business and customer service. I understand that it may be difficult to work with home warranties and assume that by providing services through a home warranty, the contractor may not receive payment in full like a regular paying customer. I would have been a regular paying customer had my repair been denied through my home warranty. I was treated very rudely by the only Salego receptionist, Debbie, who talked down to me, interrupted me when I spoke and all around treated me like a nuisance and less than desirable customer. As an executive with a top Fortune 500 company, never in my life have I been treated so rudely or experienced such poor customer service.

I paid Salego $75 for a service fee. I only ask that this fee be returned to me at soonest. What happened to my dog is unfortunate and heartbreaking and he cannot be replaced.

Review: Slago HVAC was sent to home to check on malfunctioning Central Air Conditioning unit by a Home Warranty Company. They sent a tech who diagnosed the problem as a bad condenser unit and told me that he has to call the home warranty company to get approval.

I followed up with Home Warranty Company and Slago HVAC over the next 3 weeks as Slago never called in the diagnosis to the Warranty company.

I was emailed a list of items that were not covered by the Warranty Company. I was responsible to pay $920 for costs not covered by the warranty company before Slago HVAC would order the parts. I made payment in full on October 2, 2015.

It took an additional 3 weeks of me calling for them to schedule an install date of Oct 30. A few days before the scheduled install, the owner, Andy, called to say they were really busy with furnaces and wanted to reschedule. At this point, I had waited almost 2 months. We agreed on an install date of 11-3-2015 by 10 am.

On 11-3-2015, nobody showed up so I called. They assured me they were on the way. I called several more times and eventually a tech showed up at 2pm.

Upon arriving, I introduced myself and told him that we would be making the electrical connections.

When the tech unpacked the new unit, it had a dent in the one side. When I pointed it out he shrugged his shoulders. The tech released all the R-22 refrigerant into the atmosphere without attempting to reclaim it which is illegal by EPA standards.

Additionally, when the tech was connecting the old line set to the new condenser, the liquid line on the condenser was larger than the line he needed to connect to. He did not have the correct reducer bushing so he used the larger coupler and "filled the void" with solder. This is not the correct way to do the job and not the correct way to install.

The tech could not tell me if the new unit had a warranty.

This is the worse contractor that I have ever dealt with.

On the list of items that were not covered by the Warranty company were the following.

Electrical modifications 395

New Pad 125

Copper modification 125

Disposal of old refrigerant 75

Evac and recover old refrigerant 200

I emailed Denise, the owners wife and corporate treasurer, requesting a credit for the pad for $125 since they did not use a new pad. I had the old pad leveled and ready for the new unit. Also, we disconnected the electrical from the old unit and wired the new unit (2 wires) so we did all the wiring as well which was a 395 charge.

I feel we should not have to pay for a new pad ($125) that we never received nor should we pay for electrical services that we never received($395). The total refund requested was $520.

In addition, we received a dented unit, the copper connections were not done correctly, they released R-22 into the air without attempting to recover it. So I should challenge the charge for copper modification, evacuation and recovery and disposal as well.

At this point, I do not trust the quality of the work.

This company should not be in business.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the goods and services we did not receive in the amount of $520.

Response:

We will refund the $525.00 to Mr [redacted] in 30 days. But he needs to understand that this claim was done through his home warranty company, [redacted]. We have a flat rate pricing with [redacted] and with refund he is responsible for any call backs because of the wiring, which he said he did himself. The pad and the unit are not level which is not documented with [redacted] and they agree he will have to take full responsibility for his work performed. Also, we did not release Freon from the unit, it had nitgrogen in it for pressure testing for leaks. The home warranty company has a copy of the letter from the Revdex.com and [redacted].Sincerely,Andy S[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: On 06/29/2015, due to water coming from my Air Conditioning Unit, I contacted my home warranty company and was referred to Salego for service. When I contacted them I was informed that they would come out, however my deductible would be required at the time of service or they would not do the work. When they were ready to come out, I was at work and my Nephew (24 year old, very reliable young man) was at my home painting. I contacted him to give the service worker the deductible when he came. The Service Worker came out, did the work and received the deductible. Two weeks later, I received a letter from my warranty company stating that I did not pay the deductible and was being billed for it. I contacted Salego and was told that I did not pay (when the repair person would do the work without it). This is not true and I am prepared to contact an attorney for the principle. They did receive their money or they would not do the work.Desired Settlement: For the technician to tell the truth and admit that he did in fact get paid for his services.

Response:

I am responding to reference number Revdex.com # [redacted].In regards to the complaint received, we had performed a service call at his residence from a dispatch we had been assigned from his home warranty company, Home Services of America. We will mark her account as paid and will inform the Home Warranty that the deductible is no longer an issue. Sincerely, [redacted] Owner, Salego Heating and Air Conditioning Inc.

Review: Friday February 20th Salego heating was dispatched to my address r/t the agreement with my [redacted] home warranty. When technician came to my home he diagnosed my furnace as having a blower motor noise and that it needs replacement. The tech did not have the part available and stated he must order part a $75.00 deductible check # [redacted] was given to tech. Saturday 2/21 a tech came to my home to install, stated he couldn't r/t the position of the furnace and that the furnace must be removed, to fulfill the install. On 2/24 another tech came to my home to complete the removal of furnace to install the motor. Per Salego this would be a four job and was authorized by [redacted], but I had to pay 320.00$. Two techs came to my home, the tech's were able to install the motor without having to remove furnace to complete job. The tech was unable to get the furnace working stating that the furnace needed an electrical panel r/t the furnace being unable to generate enough volts to start. Another wait on a part. Thursday 2/26 received a phone call from [redacted] receptionist at Salego, Manger [redacted] ([redacted]) doesn't think it's the electrical panel and they are sending a more "seasoned" tech to check the furnace. Friday 2/27th [redacted] the "seasoned" tech comes to my home and spends approximately 10 mins , states the furnace needs a heat exchanger. This is now 7 days without heat and I had to wait till Monday for a resolution. Phoned [redacted] to see if the tech had phoned with info on the exchanger, he hadn't. Another weekend without heat. This is now 7 days no heat with temperatures highs of the teens to below zero at night. Monday the 3/2 [redacted] warranty has contacted the tech but hasn't had the proper info needed to authorize repair. no 10 DAYS no heat. That day I phoned [redacted] they dispatched a tech [redacted] which had to furnace on within 30 minutes, no additional parts, ie electical panel, heat exchanger! The blower motor was installed incorrectly and other parts not attached. Payment to [redacted] for the furnace start up was $230.00 check #[redacted] warranty company is reimbursing me for the cost. [redacted] isn't an authorized vendor within [redacted]. I will not request payment from Salego, that's for [redacted] to follow up with themDesired Settlement: This was a horrible experience, having to run 2 portable electrical heaters for the 10 days, one of which was 150$. Payment of 75$ for a deductible repair that was never made. An electric bill that will be much more than average per company $150.00 . This company is so unprofessional and neglectful of their customers. How incompetent the employees are and shouldn't be diagnosing or making attempts to repair home furnaces.

Response:

I am responding to reference number ID #[redacted]. In regards to the complaint #[redacted], we have spoken with this customer and have agreed to refund the $375 as requested. In regards to the service call and how it was handled, with [redacted] originated calls, which this one was, there are occasionally delays while waiting for the home warranty company to authorize the work that needs returned. Our company will go out make the diagnosis, call in to the warranty company for authorization, wait for the authorization, then return and complete the work. In short our accounting department will be sending the customer the $375 as requested. Sincerely, [redacted] Owner, Salego Heating and Air Conditioning Inc.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Although [redacted] states I was contacted in which I was not. My detailed complaint of the events doesn't match his response either, but I will accept. I would like this claim to be kept open until refund received.

Regards,

Business
