Santa Clara Auto Sales Reviews (27)

I'm rejecting the claim because I paid the dealership $1,500 as a down payment for the vehicle he only proceeded to pay the DMV $15 of that money.  I was promised work that was supposed to be done to the vehicle which nothing was done I was put in a situation where I had to cover the expenses of the repairs needed.

Business states that they are aware of consumer concerns. They disagree with consumer statements as the vehicle passed smog with a third party business licensed by the state of California. Business is under no obligation to make any repairs after the vehicle passes smog inspection. As a courtesy to...

the customer business offered to replace one of the catalyst or waive $200 off the total price. Customer refused and then returned to pick up the tags demanding both catalyst be replaced. At this point customer is behind 2 payments. At this point business is giving the consumer the option of waving $200 for replacement of the catalyst or she can bring the vehicle to the business and they will replace one of the catalyst themselves.

Review: I bought a car from this place with good intentions it was a decent place to put down on a car so I gave him $1000 and was suppose to bring $500 in two weeks! So as I checked the car the gas gage was not working and I let him know he told me he was going to fix that so I said ok so I bought the car home that night which was a Friday night Sunday night the car stop on me so I got my uncle to push the car home so I called him monday morning to let him know about the car and told him I wanted my money back he said I will fix what is wrong with the vehicle so I waited for him to get back to me so he had two different people come to my house in over two weeks that car sat in my driveway I finally got fed up with him and got the vehicle towed to his location when I asked for my money back in refused and said I will get it fix and come to find out it was the fuel pump which he asked me too fix myself so I kept asking for the $1000 dollars back at the time and he said he will fix it it took another week for the car to be fix he asked me for the remaining$500 plus the first car payment of $200 so I went and picked up the car and made a deposit of $700 into his account because at the time I thought the car was in good standing than the car stopped again on me!Desired Settlement: All I want is my money back

Business

Response:

Business states that they have contacted the consumer directly regarding these issues. The business has requested the consumer bring the vehicle to the dealership so the repair issues may be reviewed. Consumer stated that she was not in possession of the vehicle. Consumer stated that she believes the vehicle was at the shop where it was being looked at by a mechanic. Once the business contacted the mechanic(who was unable to fix the vehicle) he stated that the consumer had the vehicle towed away. Business would like to fix the vehicle for the consumer so she can come current on her car payments. Please bring the vehicle to the dealership so the business is given the opportunity to resolve the matter.

Consumer

Response:

Yes the mechanic refunded my money I have a written statement saying he refunded me.I don't not understand why they have a police lien on the vehicle. But the tow company waited for me and he was not there as he would say! I do not have no idea how much the fees are to release the vehicle I am not giving know more money to this company!

Business

Response:

Business states that he has been in contact with the tow company but has not heard back from them. The consumer is the individual who contacted the tow company and therefore she is the one who needs to get the vehicle released. If the tow company was not paid they should have not taken the car. If the consumer can contact the tow company and have them tow the vehicle to the shop, business is willing to cover the tow fees incurred (not including storage fees as the business would not be liable for those). If the tow company contacts the business they will be paid in advance to have the vehicle towed to location to be repaired and returned to the customer.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I don't understand why I have to pay anything

Review: At time of purchase I was verbally promised that if my car does not pass smog the owner is legally responsible for repairs to nake my car pass smog. during pre smig check the tech informed myself and the dealership owner of new law requirements that the cars computer must be at 100% before a legal smog could be conducted. after several attempts the tech of. two different smog centers noted there is a catalyst code and that the catalyst portion of the smog was not ready. the dealership owner emaned me to follow him to several smog shops untel we came to [redacted] on [redacted]. in stockton, ca and did conduct a elegal smog on my vehicle in front of me to prevent from having to pay for proper repairs. He kept promising he would fix the catalyst problem but has failed to do so. At this point Im not sure what legal options I have although After the elegal smog was conducted I returned to another smogshop where the computer was re read and was reported still not ready and I also recorded my conversation with the tech explaining that once the catalyst portion is completed my check engine light would go on and not pass smog.Desired Settlement: I would lke the dealership owner to accept responsibility and have my catalyst system inspected and repaired as promised at dealerships expenses

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I refuse to be financially responsible for fixing a issue that was present at time of purchase. The issue is with the catalytic converters and on bank one there are two converters which both atleast need inspection. If I agree to the having one fixed and the wrong one is fixed or both need fixed then im left to pay for his financial responsibility. The smog test was performed illegally to prevent from the lean owner having to pay for repairs. I have proof to back my claim. AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON . The lean holder was denied a smog by two shops because of a new law in effect that says the OBD II Diagnostics readyness test must be complete. How ever A printout of the readyness test performed over an hour after the smog was completed at another shop shows my vehicle was not legally ready for smog. Had the shop followed the state law my vehicle should not have been smoged on April 25, 2015 my check engine light has gone on two days ago. My vehicle is a gross polluter. I have retained payment due to the lean holders disregard for solving the problum according to the law. He also has retained the license plates for which is ilegal to drive a motor vehicle without license plates. I have attached proof of the smog readyness failure.I plan to take this to the full extent of the law if it is not tsken care of promptly. I accept only the replacement of one catalytic converter if both catalatic converters are inspected by a shop of my choice as I now can not trust the lean holder. I will continue payments on time and catch up on payment hold as soon as this issue is resolved. I will not be taken advantage of.

Review: I purchase a used vehicle from Mr. [redacted] on Thursday, 2/13/14. The vehicle was test-driven and everything seemed good. On Monday, 2/17/14, the transmission started slipping and finally gave out the next day. That Thursday, I towed it over to him and he says he has to order a new transmission and that "since I'm a good person" he'd only charge me 50%. I am well within my required 30-days but he's claiming "no warranty". As of today, Monday 03/10/14, I still do not have my vehicle or my money back. I told him I want my money back and he keeps saying he will fix it. I think he is trying to stall until I am past my 30 days.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my money back. He was given $2,200 in cash.

Business

Response:

Company states that the he fixed the car three weeks ago and last week the consumer came in and paid him a payment. He states that the issue has been resolved.

Review: I PURCHASED A CAR FOR 2500 DOLLARS CASH FROM THIS DEALER AND HE IS REFUSING TO GIVE ME THE TITLE I HAVE CALLED THE POLICE AND THEY INFORMED ME NOT TO GIVE HIM ANY MORE MONEY THAT HE IS SUPPOSED TO PAY THE FEES AND REPORT THE CAR I HAVE SPOKE WITH DMV AND THEY SAID I AM SUPPOSED TO GET THE REGISTRATION FROM HIM HE IS REFUSING TO GIVE ME THE REGISTRATION IF I DO NOT GIVE HIM 250 DOLLARS THE DMV SAID I AM NOT ENTITLED TO GIVE HIM MORE MORE MONEY BECAUSE IT WAS A CASH DEAL AND HE IS SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF THAT.Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE THE TITLE I AM ENTITLED TO FOR MY CAR THAT I HAVE PAID FOR

Review: On April 25, 2015 I bought 2002 Volleswage from Santa Clara Auto Sales. So as I started stopping and driving to 60mph the car was shaking. Every corner I turned the car squeezed. So when I called him I told him the problem and he said I'll fix it and hang up in my face twice. The next day I told him the problem and he said I'll fix it and hang up in my face twice. The next day I called to tell him that I was come and his send me to the voice message. Then I may I the battery died ad I had to buy 75 dollar to get it towed May 2, all often the car sales is closed and he hang up in my face again and he hang up in my face again. And told me to come on Monday. Desired Settlement: I would like my money back. Because I need a vehicle so I don't loss my jobs.

Business

Response:

Company states: The consumer contacted us after having the vehicle for a couple of weeks. We told her that this is an older vehicle and was sold as is. She offered for us to buy it back and we gave her a counter off amount but she never responded after that. We have not heard from her since.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Santa Clara has told me that he can only gave me 500 hundred and I spoke with him on Wednesday and he said he don't have the money.

Business

Response:

Company states: I did not have the money at the time. I am asking the consumer to come by on Monday.

Consumer

Response:

Consumer states: I will meet with the company on Monday. They have had my vehicle the whole time. If I do not receive the money that was promised I will contact the Revdex.com again.
