Review: MY CAR , I BELIEVE, WAS INPROPERLY TOWED, OUT OF A PARKING LOT. I WAS PARKED IN LOT 15 OF PARKING LOT BEHIND [redacted] PARKING LOT DOWNTOWN ROANOKE ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH IN LOT 15. (THE VINTON POLICE DEPARTMENT VERIFED THAT A PIC WAS TAKEN BY THE TOW TRUCK COMPAMY VERIFYING THIS). THE PICTURE THAT WAS TAKEN BY MYSELF CLEARLY STATES THAT PARKING SPACES 8 THRU 22 [redacted] CUSTOMERS AND EMPLOYEES ONLY AFTER 5PM MON-FRI AND ALL DAY SAT AND SUN. MY CAR WAS STILL UNLAWFULLY TOWED WITHIN THE TIME FRAME THAT IS CLEALRLY POSTED. I WAS THEN CHARGED 175.00 TO RETRIEVE MY CAR FROM THE TOW LOT. I CALLED THE LOCAL POLICE DEPT (VINTON VA) WHO THEN RESPONDED AND ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CLAIM TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT AND TO CONTACT YOU. I WILL BE CONTACTING SMALL CLAIMS COURT MONDAY MORNING 09-29 AND FILING A CLAIM BUT I WAS ADVISED TO ALSO NOTIFY YOU. THIS COMPANY CLEARLY UNLAWFULLY TOWED MY CAR AND CLEARLY BROKE THE LAW AND UNFORTUNATELY TOWED OTHER CARS WERE TOWED. I HAVE ADVISED THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER OF MY COMPLAINT. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON!Desired Settlement: I WOULD LIKE A FULL REINBURSEMENT OF MY TOW CHARGES PLUS COURT FEES TO FILE THE CLAIM. 175.00 PLUS COURT FEES+++

Response:

The above complaint was taken care of by the Business owner, [redacted]. All money was refunded, and I am very happy with the response that was given by [redacted]. I have spoken to [redacted] multiple times, and understand that the mix up was due to the parking lot owner, and not the company, Scorpion Towing. My issue was resolved by [redacted] in a professional manner.

Regards,

Tried for two weeks to get a guy named [redacted] to tow my vehicle or even just return a phone call in a timely, professional manner without success. He couldn't even be bothered to send someone out after claiming he had. Awful excuse for a "professional" business. Thankfully, [redacted] were more than happy to show up within half an hour of my call.

Review: My car was towed by this company on March 15, 2014 on behalf of the lien holder [redacted] Credit Union in Salem, Virginia. I had fallen behind on payments on a car title loan after a long period of unemployment and financial hardship. I had finally come up with the money to pay off off the balance though, unfortunately, my car was seized for non-payment just a week prior to when I had planned to resolve this debt.

This company's representative representative arrived at with a tow truck between 12 and 1 pm. A child was accompanied him and I was cooperative and polite. I turned over the key to the vehicle and he asked if I wanted to clean out the vehicle before it was hauled away. I declined because I was planning to pay off the debt and retrieve the vehicle the following week and because there was nothing worth much monetary value in the car. On Friday March 21, 2014 I did pay the debt and picked up the vehicle from the credit union parking lot.

My complaint concerns items that I found that were missing from my vehicle. The employee that towed my vehicle stated to me that the car would be towed directly to the credit union. I have no reason to suspect that any employee of the credit union is responsible for the missing items, which include a Garmin gps and around 10-15 loose cds that were in the car's console. Again, most of these items are several years old and therefore wouldn't have much monetary value but that is beside the point.

I allege that an employee of this company is directly responsible for the missing items or indirectly responsible due to negligence for them. If the car was taken directly to the credit union parking lot as I was told, no one else would have had access to those items if the vehicle had been locked and secured by the employee as it should have been. The cost of the towing service was added to my debt balance and I strongly feel that the company should not have allowed this to happen while my property was in their care.

Regarding this matter Mrs [redacted] does not state that this was a repossession (Hints the reason why she contacted [redacted] First) The vehicle was in fact her sons and her name was no were on the paperwork so she had no business being involved. Her sons vehicle was also notated before we secured the unit that it had previous damage before we hooked up. Mrs [redacted] also did not state that two police officers were on scene with us at the time of the repossession and witnessed none of the above happening. Our company attorney has also been notified for Mrs [redacted] slandering our company name on false allegations. Any further questions feel free to contact me.

Thanks,

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

My son truck did have noted damage parked on my private property but my personal truck the tow truck drive hit did not have any damage until scorpion tow truck driver hit it while lifting my son truck up while I was in the vehicle . Not one allegation I made was false , there are two neighbors that witnessed the complete incident . Presidents' Day my neighbors were off work and watched the complete incident . This issue is not Concerning the fact of repo of my son truck it concerning that in the commission of the repo the tow truck driver hit my personal vehicle parked in my drive way causing damage and throwing me forward and backwards causing a bruise on my shoulder . I have only asked for insurance information exchange to file a claim and allow them to determine the truth because trey was not present to witness the incident .

Business

Response:

Gave the son the insurance information and lives in the same address. Insurance co. said if the come out and it is a false claim they will prosecute her.

That is a complete lie he has never submitted any information of his insurance information . If I had that information I would not had to file this complaint . When I asked for the information I was told it was none of my business and further more it was my word against his driver , unaware their were witnesses . Further more if he had given his insurance information it should have been to me his company damaged my property not my sons .

Based on advice of legal counsel, I am unable to provide any additional information on this case.

Review: Last night I ate at a restaurant downtown. The signage they have said to park in spaces 8-22. I parked in space 22. When I left the restaurant, my car had been towed. Apparently there are two spots numbered 22, and I was in the wrong 22 parking spot. The signage does not mark that clearly. When I asked the gentleman who had called to complain, he said he was just driving around looking for cars parked in the wrong spot.Desired Settlement: I had to go to an ATM machine and get out cash. The cost of the towing was $175, and the ATM fees were $5. I want a total of $180 to be reimbursed.
