Hi there,
My name is Allison and I’m the support manager at ScribdI have been assigned the task of handling Revdex.com complaints, and this one appears to have gone unanswered.
It looks like *** *** refused to provide our agent with the last digits of his card when our agent
requested them in MarchAdditionally, my research has shown that since that initial email, an account was established under his name, using the email address [email protected], and a subscription was started on May 17, ***This subscription was paused in June, and renewed on July 4, ***I assume this is his son, Erik, who he mentions in his initial email to us.
I would like to reopen this case with *** ***, and get to the bottom of these charges.
I will be reaching out to *** *** as well, via our own Support Help DeskThank you!

This customer's charges were found and refunded yesterday by my agent ***Please note that we will never ask a customer for the last digits of a Social Security Number - we DO ask for the last digits of the Credit Card that was charged, solely for the purpose of finding the
charges.
Her refunds have been processed and the issue is considered closed

After researching ***'s history with Scribd, It appears that she purchased a subscription on May 29, 2015, using the email address ***@kgslaw.com, in order to read/download "Checklist Manufacturing Agreement"This was not a one-time
purchase, but instead a recurring month to month subscription, as per our purchase agreements
Per our Refund Policy, I've refunded her last charge and canceled her subscriptionShe should receive a separate receipt for the refund by email and her account should be credited within a few business days

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/07/21) */

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/07/31) */
We have tried several times to get a clear explanation of what the complainant means by "attaching themselves to our website." The complainant uses this phrase repeatedly without ever providing an example of what she's referring to, or what this
phrase even meansHer language seems to insinuate that Scribd has somehow taken control of her website, which is, of course, absurd and false
Scribd is a business operating in California and is not affiliated with this website or its operationsWe have no ability to "attach" ourselves to her siteIf her site is using Scribd to host documents (again, even this is unclear), she has the ability to cease that use at any timeNobody is forcing the complainant, or her website, to do anythingThe complainant's language suggests a poor understanding of basic website operations
This is what we have to go on:
"Your site has linked to our site without our permissionWe have a page on our website where our homeless veterans can download either a pdf or a word doc but now they cannot because your website has linked to our site and is making our clients have to download your app to get the documentsSee attachedThis is not OK! We are a non-profit and our clients are homeless veterans! Please remove our app from our site ASAP! Plus, I don't believe it is legal for your company to link to our site without our legal consent."
"All we want is for your company to remove yourself from our website! We did not give your company permission to attach itself to our websiteREMOVE YOURSELF FROM OUR WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our website is www.***.org (http://www.***.org)We are a NOT FOR PROFIT! And our clients are HOMELESS and will never have the money to pay for something that is technically FREE from ABODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it is not removed I will be contacting out legal counsel! I should NOT have to complete a form to remove something we NEVER gave permission to."
As you can see, there is nothing to go on hereWe would like to help this person resolve whatever issue she thinks she has, but until that becomes clear, there's little we can do

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/07/02) */

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/01/07) */
This matter refers to a court document posted on April by one of Scribd's users at https://www.scribd.com/doc/XXXXXXXX/2012-02-02-***-Cross-Complaint-
Documents published by a court of law in the United States are in the public
record, which means they are accessible to the public and are not purview to copyrights or other distribution restrictionsThe document itself does not violate Scribd's Terms of Use by revealing home addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, or other informationThe uploader has posted numerous court documents covering a variety of areas, and has not used the Scribd platform in a way that suggests he/she is specifically targeting the complainant
The complainant has contacted Scribd numerous times between September and January to demand removal of first one, then another documentScribd removed the first document pursuant to Scribd's terms due to the presence of actionable personal information (home address, phone number, etc)However, Scribd did not remove the second document due to its public nature and conformity with Scribd's terms of useThis is the source of the complainant's issue
Scribd has repeatedly explained the requirements for expunging public records from the Internet, which involves obtaining a court order that compels removal of the document
The complainant subscribes to several ideas, including that court documents are not allowed on the Internet, and that "public records" are restricted to lawyers in the courtroomThe complainant claims that the court document has "cost her employment," but a simple Google search shows considerable information about the lawsuit from various sources unrelated to Scribd, including the national publication Business Insider (http://www.businessinsider.com/***-***-***-XXXX-X)
The complainant is apparently trying to remove these journalistic sources from public view
The complainant is in desperate need of competent legal advice, and Scribd has strongly urged the complainant to discuss the matter with an attorneyShe has alternately claimed to have such an attorney and more recently claims to have none
Scribd applies its terms and policies consistentlyHowever, the complainant has interpreted this consistent application as a personal attack, initiated by Scribd
From October 2012:
"I do not know who the *** you think you are to post suck things on
internet."
Moreover, the has gone further in directly threatening Scribd employees with Internet harassment
From March 2013:
"I am going to check your record, and everything I am going to find about
you, any law suit or anything about you I am going to post it on internet
Is this fair? Because this is what you have done with mePublic record
does not mean internetSo I am going to do the same thing with youI
think it's fair."
Now, she is threatening me directlyFrom January 2016:
"*** it has to do with youYou refuse to remove this document, it has nothing to do with public record, it has nothing to do with itit has to do with youI do not know how you get it but public document means in court, people can consult it in court not on internetthat is not legalIf you do not know the law I am going to show you how wrong you are"
The complainant has all the information and tools she needs to remove this content from the InternetJust the same, she refuses to do so, and is training hostility on Scribd's employeesObviously we are extremely concerned with safety, and we have alerted the necessary parties in case the complainant goes even further
I have included complete screenshots of all communications between the complainant and Scribd that illustrate the extent of the problemI urge Revdex.com representatives to avoid divulging any personal details, including names, to the complainant
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/01/11) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Scribd has a lot negative reviews all over internet due to their lack of understanding and professionalismCourt documents are public but not for internetI am looking for a job and this document on internet is preventing me from finding a jobScribd still didnot get itThey do not have compassion, they do not have any people skillsBy refusing for me to have a job they are responsible for my situation and I want for Scribd website to be shut down, so they will not destroy people lifeThey are responsible for the fact that I cannot find a job because of this document they posted on internetI do not know how they get this document, who put the document there, but court document are public in court not for internet, they are violating people by doing this, they are destroying people lifeThey are not good peoplethey are terrible people principally the one name *** who is a young kid and he does not understand anything about business and about peopleThey have the reputation to discriminate and retaliate against people and I took their refusal as a personal attack and retaliation against meThey like to destroy people life, they are not good peopleThey are stubborn, I have written numerous letter to them and at the end I became upset to see how bad those people areThe world is full of terrible people and this is so sad to see how bad can be peopleThey have done the same thing, similar, they have discriminate against blind people and they get in a big law suit and of course they lostBecause I do not have a job I have no money to sue them, they know it, so this is why they are so bad people, mean, nasty and badI wish they can be out of businessIt will be easy if they were good people to remove this but they refuse and I cannot find a job, I told them I was diagnosis with tachycardia and if anything happen to me they will be responsible because of the stress I have to not be able to find a job, they do not care, was their answerThey still refuse to remove itTerrible and bad people
Those people do not care about people, what they care is only about them, what they want, what they say, what they need
Final Business Response /* (4000, 16, 2016/01/15) */
"interview was about unemployment people not about my court case."
It's right here: http://www.businessinsider.com/***-***-***-XXXX-X , including all the links to the reporter's Scribd page containing the court documents
It's time to close this case, Revdex.com
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 19, 2016/01/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
