The fact that this issue was dormant for over months and then the heater core started leaking was nothing that anyone could have for seen I believe the offer to pay for more than half of the repair months after purchase was more than fair We worked with him on the tow bill and the repair even though we were not obligated to do anything Nobody likes when their car breaks but they all do and we try to stand behind our products the best we can in this case I made him the offer to cover half of the heater core months prior and I stood behind that statement and some more

Attached are two documents signed by the customer which both disclose the history of the vehicle at the time of purchaseThe first document includes a statement signed by the customer as well as a car fax report also signed by the customerThe second document is the window label from the vehicle
which also discloses the history of the vehicle

We currently have the car and are working on it and hopefully this will resolve all the issues

As stated by the customer we did everything in our power to make sure whatever issues they were having were resolved. I gave them all of their money back on trade towards another vehicle which is coved under Chrysler manufacturer warranty. I believe the issue has since been corrected
however the oil leak was covered by Chrysler and if there are any other concerns it will be with Chrysler. There is nothing else our dealership can do to help this situation. We attempt to give all of our customers great customer service and we assured them that the oil leak would be fixed and Chrysler will stand behind the warranty that they put on their vehicles

We would be happy to cancel the unwanted products and also assist you with getting into another vehicle. Please contact our General Sales Manager [redacted]

I believe we went above and beyond with this matter.  We repaired the customers car on several occasions at no cost to her.  In the state of Wisconsin as used vehicle is purchased as-is and there is nothing further we can do for this matter. Thank You,[redacted]

Once it was first found out that the customer was not happy with what was done with her vehicle chuck van horn wrote a list of complaints down from her and we redid everything that she wanted done.  Then the sunroof leak happened and we also fixed that which took a couple times to get narrowed...

down to exactly what needed to get replaced, but we did get it fixed.  So then another issue arose months later and the customer wanted us to fix her car again but she bought a used car that was out of manufacture warranty so I told her I would not be able to fix her car for free this time.  At the end we agreed to look at the heating issue free of charge but I told her we could not do any repairs for free this time.  The vehicle was inspected and ready for sale so where that is coming from I don't know.  We try to stand behind our vehicles the best we can but it is impossible to know when a vehicle is going to break which is why we offer extended service contracts to all of our customers.

Review: I purchased a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero from Budget Auto in September 2013. Since then I have had some pretty major problems that I feel were overlooked in the vehicle inspection.

The first issue I ran into was an oil change. I brought the car into a quick lube center and when they took the dipstick out and went to complete the oil change the contents were very chunky with the oil being a light tan. The employee stated that he was glad I brought it in because eventually, even soon, the engine would be ruined. It was one of the worst oil conditions he encountered. In order to perform the oil change and hopefully protect the engine an entire engine an entire engine flush was needed, costing an extra expense. If the vehicle was inspected this should have been something that should have been notice and fixed prior to selling me the vehicle.

The next issue was the battery. I had to replace the battery and it was so old it would not hold charge. The battery was filled with rust! Another frustrating fault that was overlooked.

Next, the emergency break light is completely pushed in to the counsel. Although it works it’ so far back it is hard to reach.

The next issue is the front left low beam burnt out. After going to AutoZone and having some problems there, I thought were corrected, until they found a wiring error. The wires going into the headlight were fried and the entire plastic harness is melted. It appears that someone tried to resolve the problem and instead used electrical tape.

Shortly after I purchased the vehicle, it sounded as though it was growling at times. The noise came and went until it was very loud and very noticeable. I checked the oil, which was very very low; light brown in color and chunky. I added about a quart of oil, which was gone in 2 days. I have had to continually add oil a regular bases each week. After speaking with a friend who works as a mechanic he stated that it sounds much like a head gasket problem. He did not think it was a blown head gasket but it was leaking and just a matter of time until it goes.

I contacted Budget Auto via email with my disappointment and concerns. I spoke with [redacted], the sales manager, who asked that I bring the car in to the dealership so they could look at it. Upon arriving at the dealership, I sat down to meet with [redacted]. After going over the complaints I had he advised me that in regards to the head gasket that when it goes it could go at any time and they are unable to prevent the situation. I did not like this answer as I felt the buck was being passed on to me, especially as a woman. The only think he could offer me was to “trade it out.” This would entail putting down another down payment to get me into a car with less mileage. It was a complete start to financing the vehicle; another credit application and so on would need to be completed. Additionally to the down payment, I was informed that the payments would be higher because the loan would be a shorter term. I left extremely mad, as the offering to me was an unethical business practice. They were not even willing to satisfy me as the customer; instead, they wanted to sell me another car requiring more money both down and monthly! When getting back into my car a mechanic from the dealership was just finishing his inspection. I brought up the head gasket and he said, yes, it is definitely a head gasket issue, among the other various problems. I left with my car, as I could not afford nor wished to buy another vehicle from the dealership that sold me a car with many problems.

Since then more issues come to head. The first is a security issue. There are times the car will not start and thanks to Google, I found a resolution, although not a viable fix. The solution is to put the key into the ignition, turn the key to the first position and leave the key in for 10 minutes exactly. Anything over or less than 10 minutes and the process needs to starts again. After the 10 minute wait, the key is taken out and then put back in and the car starts. It is a sporadic nuisance and happens unexpectedly. In the winter, this is not a pleasure to deal with.

Additionally the tie rod on the on the left side of the car began to clunk and pop when I make a turn. The noise is getting louder and louder and it is a matter of time before the wheel falls off.

To top the cake, in May, I came back to work from lunch and realized that I took the key out of the ignition but the car was still running! I put the key back in and fiddled with it trying to turn it off. After 15 minutes, I went into work and asked a co-worker to take a look. She was able to drive the car around the parking lock with no key in the ignition. Another mechanically inclined co-worker looked at it and the only way to turn the car off is to remove the ignition module. I was able to get the car home and had to do the same thing to get the car to shut off. A couple of days of this nonsense, the electrical would not turn off even after the ignition module was disconnected. I had to unhook the battery to allow the lights, stereo etc to go off. The car is inoperable and the car is worth less than the cost of repairs.

I was without a car for about a month and although I could not afford it, I had no other option but to purchase another vehicle. The car is parked at my house and the loan is still active. I am a very disgruntled customer and would never refer anyone to the Budget Auto dealership. After speaking to others in the community I found many people had problems with the vehicles they purchased from Budget Auto. I should have done more research into the business however; I never thought I would deal with such a poor business practice as this from a locally owned car dealership. Any time I hear of someone interested in purchasing a vehicle from Budget Auto I cringe.

In conclusion, I am very disappointed, unhappy and in a bind with the vehicle. I feel I was ripped off from the beginning. It is very apparent there was no vehicle inspection done on the vehicle prior to driving off the lot, or if there was, it was not done properly.Desired Settlement: Reimbursement of the $1,000 I put down on the vehicle as well as reimbursement for the outstanding balance on the loan. The vehicle can be returned to the dealership as I have no need nor want the vehicle in my possession.

Response:

We have tried to help and trade the customer out of the vehicle. The Alero had 170,000 miles on it when it was purchased and sometimes higher mileage cars break. There is nothing further that we are able to do at this time.

Thank You,

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I am

not satisfied with the response from the business. I am not satisfied unless my car is completely

repaired free of charge. I will take this to Wisconsin's Attorney

General if it can't be resolved.

Review: In the disclosure upon purchasing the vehicle, it stated that nothing was wrong and everything was in working condition. The vehicle has been with me for a week and the engine light immediately came on, the back wiper never worked, and now the vehicle is jerking from transmission issues.Desired Settlement: $6400.00 cash and tax title and license

Business

Response:

The vehicle will be fixed free of charge to the customer but no money will be returned.

Review: Van Horns Budget Autos Sales Specialist Mr.[redacted] sold me a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. We made a deal of the price of the car of $9000,00 total of 10,0110 and we agreed to also under coating and sound proofing, also cleaning and detailing inside and out and new windshield wipers (all),Oil change ect. and inspection of the vehicle and floor mates. On the we owe slip he only put the under coating I still do not have a new back window windshield wiper, I don't know if they sound proofed the vehicle or if they did the oil change, or even checked everything (the inspection. The day I picked up my car I was told everything was done and ready for pick up. When I looked at I was not washed and the inside was not cleaned the windshield wipers were not change no floor mates the undercoating we done poorly. I went in to talk to Mr. [redacted] the sales man and he was very rude and had a bad add a tude with me and did not want to come out and look at my car, and he finial went out to look at the car and looked at the wiper as I showed him, he went back in with his add a tude and had someone eales replace it. Then we a friend of mine [redacted] went with me about a week later to go thru the car wash and found out that my sun roof was leaking. We went strait to one of the top mangers at Van Horn told him about [redacted] and how he was dealing with me and the p[redacted]lems that I was having with the car and also that when I bought the car that [redacted] did not write down during the sale on the we owe slip only about the undercoating and not everything we had a deal on. whats was in the deal above and we were told that he was wrong as that he had over charged me, witch Bob found; both it was fixed. The manger Mr. Chuck Van Horn said every thing was done including my sun roof. Witch I had to go back at least four times to get it fixed witch also cost me a lot of money going back and forth on gas and going thru the car was each time. I went back after a both 4 months and talk to a manger at the dealer ship because now my heat dial that switch that controls wear you control were the heat puts out ( I believe was that way the hole time and was never checked, inspected) does not work. I noticed it when it got cold out and I could not get my window defrosted. I talk to this other manger and he said that he would not do anything and he was very rude and mean, he made me cry trying to make me feel guilty, buy saying that I was telling him his employees we bad or something. When I told him what all happened, he also said that he new what all happened like someone got in trouble when I talked to the other manger it was so bad I just left after I begged him just to have them check out me car. He told me also that it will cost me six about hundred dollars and also the on star is not working now. Its talks and asks me questions every time I turn my car on and does not work and I will coast me a couple hundred dollars to be fixed. There is no working with them after how they been treating me and I found out many others are having the same p[redacted]lems one of them is my niece [redacted]. This is not right! Something needs to be done!Desired Settlement: Contact from the better business and a investigation by Fox 6. Also for them to fix the heater p[redacted]lems and the on star. For the to do a proper check of all the components of my car. That I don't have to go back again in a few mouth or the he text from the manger at the dealer that made me cry. saying that my car may be a lemon. Or give me a new car of my choice that they are pretty sure will not be a p[redacted]lem. Also a written apology and respect when I come in like when [redacted] treated me when I was buying the car. Or giving me my money back and keeping the till I can find a different one. I spent all that money trying to have a car that will last me a long time, because I cant afford a new car even a beater. To be treated so bad and everything that has gone wrong with me car that I cant even describe it all. To hear about so many other people that have had p[redacted]lems!
