Review: I took in a pair of ladies sandals that were raggedy but I was still able to wear them and asked could they be repaired? I spoke to the owner who assured me he could make them as good as new by the following Thursday. I had to pay for the repairs that day for $32. I went in the next Thursday, and even took an additional pair of ragged but wearable sandals and again was assured he could make them like new and again had to pay for the repair. I explained that shoeing is difficult for me as I was born with birth defects that also affected my feet and that both of these sandals could longer be found. Since that day I have returned each week, and again told that the sandals were still not ready. Last Tuesday I went by there and they were closed during business hours with no notice as to why. I called few times until I reached the owner. He said he was there but had had a fire the night before and was working to repair shop. I asked could I come the next day for sandals? He said to come Monday and both would be ready. I went by on Friday to allow extra days. Was again told not ready. I told him that was my fifth trip for the shoes. He said he would call when ready. I calledbacktoday, the 13th day of April and left message that I need a feast one pair before the weekend and to please call me. I have not received any communication from him.Desired Settlement: Services paid for completed in that both pair of sandals be finished and returned and a discount be given due to he said a week and has had the shoes almost a month

Review: I dropped off a black and brown Michael Kors purse on December 29, 2015. I needed the straps replaced. The owner stated he would order leather straps and the item would be ready on Jan 8, 2016. He stated I need to pay up front. So I paid him $62 for the repair and left the purse. I checked back on Jan 8th and was told the straps were not delivered yet. So I called almost weekly until later in Feburary. I was told he same thing each time I called. I actually went by the store one day in Feburary and asked for my purse back. He said he would love to give it to me, but he had already removed the straps. I have called and left several messages over the last few months and he will not answer my call or return them. I've specifically asked for the purse and a refund. I've left my address and phone number. I've had no response from him since Feburary. I live an hour an a half from his store and try to stop by when I'm in the area. The store has been closed on most times I am there. I just want my $62 refunded and my purse mailed back even if the straps are off. I paid for a service I never received and the purse was $150 retail. Since I've never been allowed to see he purse I feel like it has been sold.Desired Settlement: Refund and purse returned. If the purse is fixed I just want the purse no refund would be required. If it is repaired in a good condition.

Review: On May 20, 2016 I took pair of sandals to the store for repair. I was told I could pick up on May 27, 2016. I attempted to return to the store on this day and there was sign on door stating he was out of town. I later attempted twice over the next few weeks to pick up and was told shoes were not ready, made several calls and was told shoes would be ready within next few days. I returned again this past week and another sign was on the door stating the store owner was out of town. Yesterday June 28, 2016 my sister attempted to pick up sandals from store and was told they were still not ready and after requesting my shoes and money back, she was rudely told that she was not getting the shoes or the money. I contact owner today myself to tell at this point I wanted my shoes and money and would take somewhere else. I was told that I could not have my shoes or money back and was given another date to pick up. I declined this and again requested to get my shoes and money back and was told he would not do this. I have since contacted the local police department for assistance. I was told by police dept that he'd been reported to your agency many times and continues to have a business license.Desired Settlement: My property and my money returned

ONE OF THE SORRIEST EXCUSES FOR A SERVICE-ORIENTED BUSINESS I'VE EVER COME ACROSS.

Contact: Doesn't adhere to posted hours of operation; not able to reach by phone.

Payment: Insists on full prepayment, a policy not stated - either in writing (example: sign in store) or verbally - prior to the work order being written up. NOTE: based on interchanges overheard between other disgruntled customers and the management, apparently refunds (full or partial) are not given.

Delivery time: Shoes taken in 7-27-16, with promised delivery on 8-5-16. After repeated visits - and excuses, none of which had any sustained continuity - I was finally able to get shoes back 8-15-16; they were unwearable (SEE: below).

Customer service: Extremely rude, bordering in openly hostile.

Quality of work: Dismal. I had taken in a pair of loafers to have the soles replaced; when I got them back: the soles were mismatched; the linings, uneven; the stitching, sloppy; nails could be felt coming up through the heels. I was left with the impression that the work was done hastily on the morning of 8-15-16: certainly the quality of the work did not merit the shoes being kept for such a long period of time.

End result: Shoes had to be thrown away, as they were unwearable.

Review: On August 20, 2014, I took a brand new nylon toolbag, with tags, to the Shoe Doctor and asked the owner, Wayne Baker if he could make me an identical toolbag from leather. I also asked that he not damage or remove the tags from the bag I left with him to use as a guide. He advised that he could make the toolbag and asked that I pay $79 up front and he advised that it would be completed by September 26, 2014, as stated on the receipt I received. On September 26, 2014, I went to the Shoe Doctor to pick up the toolbag and was told by an employee that it was not ready and not to come back to the store, that they would call me when it was ready to be picked up. I made several attempts to pick up the toolbag. On one attempt the store sign said open but the door was locked and no one would answer the door. My wife stopped by the store on October 16, 2014, and was told that the toolbag was not ready, and that they had to order special material to make the bag and that it would be ready in 2 weeks. My wife was told to leave the store and not return, that he would only deal with me. I went to the store that same day and asked him to refund my money and he advised me that he had already started working on the bag and could not give me a full refund of my money. I asked him to see the work that he had began and he disappeard to the back of the store for several minutes and returned with a piece of leather with wet glue on it. I then asked him to give me a specific date of when the toolbag would be completed. He stated that the bag would be finished on October 31, 2014 or he would give me a full refund. On October 31, 2014, I went to the store to pick up the tool bag and was told that it was not ready and to come back at 4:30pm. I told him that I wanted a full refund and he stated "that's not going to happen". I asked him to give me back the new nylon toolbag that I had left for him to use as a guide and he brought out a piece of it and handed it to me. The nylon toolbag had been completely taken apart. He had been asked not to damage the nylon bag in anyway, and he agreed to keep it in new condition. When I commented on him taking the nylon bag apart, he advised that he could sew it back together and that it would be like new. I did not get either bag and left the store.Desired Settlement: The $79 payment is being handled through other channels; however, I want a refund of $15 for replacement of the new nylon toolbag that he destroyed.

Business

Response:

Wayne Baker stated the leather bag will be ready for pick up on November 26. There will be no $15 refund.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The only terms I will agree to are a full refund and the cost of replacing the tool bag that he destroyed.

Review: On July 1, 2014 I dropped off a $500+ Leather Jacket, a $150 Leather Jacket & a $400 motorcycle backrest. The promised date on the 3 receipts/3 items is July 25, 2014. The Shoe Doctor's policy which owner Wayne Baker stated was to pay up front as so many people do not come back for their merchandise & he has limited storage. I paid $330 for the agreed upon repairs to be completed on the stated due date. I went by to pick up the items on July 25 & Wayne stated that "he had to let an employee go" & it would be a few more days. On July 29 I went by to pick up the items & spoke with [redacted], who stated that she was the owner Wayne's wife, & she was working on the backrest & there was difficulty receiving the correct supplies from the vendor. On July 31 I received a text that the items would be "most likely" be ready on July 31. On August 4 I went by & [redacted] (father?) said the 3 items were not complete. On August 8 I went by @ 11:35 am & the business was closed & there was a cardboard sign stating they had experience major equipment failure & upon equipment repair they would get everyone taken care of on a 1st come/1st served basis. I called & texted Wayne soon after & have not receive a call back.Desired Settlement: Since Wayne stated 19 business days until completion of the 3 items, & he has not honored his promise, currently he is @ 13 business days over his promised date. I expect 50 % off the approximately $17/day that his original obligation promised, cash not check nor refunded to my credit card. Of course, I expect that all 3 items to be returned to me with 100% quality repairs made completely that he has so confidently advertised verbally, on his business cards, his webpage & throughout his shop.

Business

Response:

I spoke directly with the customer and everything has been repaired and returned to him.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Just want to let you all know that Wayne did pull off the completion of the 3 items that I had left with him on July 1, 2014.

The motorcycle backrest matched the Corbin seat set well & should easily last the next 15 years.

The less expensive leather jacket, about 15 years old, looks & feels fine.

The expensive Scully leather jacket, was most impressive! The zipper was not fully operational so he took a few minutes to rework it.

Wayne did charge me extra $$ for additional materials & he explained the specific repairs completed on each item. He also stated that he would give me a 25% discount which after looking @ the items completed, I did not want. He does offer a 15% discount via a posted sign which I did accept.

He did state that should "I have any problems with the repairs that he stands behind his work". I do not expect any concerns with the repairs & I was not surprised of the additional cost knowing the value of my 3 items.

The one & only thing I left with Wayne is commit to the estimated completion date.

Regards,

Review: I have went by the Business three times and no one was there. I have called numerous times (15 X) , put on hold, told the shoes have been shipped out, told he had to research where the shipment was, that he was going to the post office to put insurance on the package and would call me back with tracking information. I paid for the three pairs of shoes to be repaired in February and still have nothing to show for it. He does not return my calls.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund and my shoes returned. I would like as tracking number of the package/check being sent

Review: Agreed to give me my money back if I had the pink slip. I came with the pink receipt and they would not.

Review: I dropped off a pair of hiking boots to be resoled on Friday March 13, 2015. The owner said hehad lots of experience with this type of boots and they would be completed by Friday March 20. They were not ready. I picked the boots up on Monday the 23. I took them home and walked approx. 50 yards. The soles became detached from the boot. I immediately returned the boots that day. I was told a refund was not possible but they would repair the boot. I waited until March 30 to pick up the boots again. I hiked 4 miles in them that day and the left sole separated from the boot and the right sole detached where the sole meets the leather. I took the boots back that day and was promised another repair by Wednesday April 1. The boots had not been touched. I was told to come back after 1400 on Thursday April 2. The boots had not been touched. I have been denied a refund or a repair. Please help. Thank you.Desired Settlement: Please give me my boots back and refund the $64.99 I paid for services that have not been delivered. I have no confidence this establishment can complete the repair. I have been patient and now my boots are being held hostage.

Review: I took, and paid, for them to put a wider heel on my shoes on 9/22/2014. The estimated completion date was 9/26/2014. I have called and driven there numerous times and still no shoes. When I went there on 10/24/2014, I was told they would be ready today, 10/28/2014. I went there again today, no more had been completed on these since 10/24/2014 and was told another date of 10/31/2014. A job that was only supposed to take a few days has turned into several weeks. I was going to just pick up shoes, but I would not be given a reund of any kind. I needed these shoes for an event on 10/25/2014, so I had to get another pair of shoes. I just want what I have paid for. I was uncomfortable paying for this in advance, but did. I feel like I have been ripped off! I knopw I will not get a refund, so I want them to finish my shoes like they were supposed to in a very timely manner.Desired Settlement: I want my shoes completed and returned to me in a timely manner. This is just getting ridiculous!

Review: Took a pair of shoes and purse to business. I only needed heel taps put on the heels of shoes and the strap of the purse just needed sewing. I left them on 6-13-14 and was told they would be ready the next week. I went to the shop to pick them up the next week, and the shoes had been fixed, but the patent on the heels had significant damage and an oversized tap was put on the heel. The purse was not ready. The business owner was adamant about fixing the shoes and seemed distressed. He said give him another week and he would have everything ready. Went back again and he said he was way behind on his work and that he had had to fire 2 or 3 people (not sure of that number). He said just give him the opportunity to fix them and he would call when ready. No call. Went back to pick up shoes and purse on 7-15-14. The shoes looked no better. The purse strap had been glued not sewn, and the fabric which had been cut to glue ripped on slight upward pressure. I showed him and his comment was "Look, you are tearing it." I asked him if the purse had been sewn and he assured me it had been. Well, there was no stitching, only a botched up job filled with glue. He also told me my purse was vinyl, and it is hand-tooled leather. I left the store and he did not offer a refund for his poor workmanship or a remedy. He was VERY RUDE and sure that he was in the right. When I took the purse to the store where I purchased it, she also could not believe the poor quality of workmanship. She also witnessed that there was no proper repair. As a result of his lack of workmanship, I will have to throw away a formerly nice pair of Ann Taylor pumps and will have to find someone else to fix my purse.Desired Settlement: My desire is that no one use his business for repair. If one chooses to do so, make sure you really don't need the item.

Review: I went to Shoe Doctor to get a cigarette case made on the 1st of May 2015 which he charged me $63.18 to make it. He told me it would be done by that evening before he closed but it wasn't and then he told me to come back on the 4th of May, 2015. At which time I went back and he didn't have it done so he kept putting me off until May 11, 2015 we sat over there until that afternoon and he said he would mail it to me on the same day and I would get it in 7-10 days through the mail at which time I hadn't received it so I called back and he then tells me that he sent it to the wrong address and got it put back out in the mail and said I should get it by May 27 or 28,2015 at which time I still have not got it. And so I called him and he said to give him an hour and call back at which time I did and he's not answering his phone I called him three times on May 28,2015. We drove an hour both ways to check on it several times.Desired Settlement: To get my refund back or to get the product that I paid for or to shut him down

Review: After waiting over 3 months for a repair of my 36 year old vintage marine corps special forces combat jump boots which were promised by the shoe doctor store within a week, the boot repair was substandard and repairs were not what was discussed. After telling me the boots were lost after about 2 months, in which I visited the shop weekly,e requests, they were supposed;y found. The boots I got back were the wrong size and very, very, poorly repaired, with new soles that were specifically discussed not to be replaced.Desired Settlement: The business should take the pieced together boots and totally refund the labor and pay for new boots.

Review: On June 24th of this year, I took a knife to [redacted] at The Shoe Doctor to have a sheath made for it. We agreed on design, a cost of 110.00 which I paid and a deadline of one month or July 24th. The 24th came and went. On July 28th I went by to pick up the knife and sheath. I was told it wouldn't be ready until in the morning. I arrived the next day after lunch and was told that a machine had broken and the work was being finished off-site but it should be ready the next day (all interactions were with [redacted] himself save this one that was with his wife). I called the next day and was told to come by before 6pm and it would be ready. I arrived at 5:13 pm to a vacant store. I returned on August 1st demanding my knife and my money back. The [redacted] were called as [redacted] refused to refund my money. No attempt to show any completion of the work was presented. [redacted] said "that's not how it works" and assured me in the presence of [redacted] Officer [redacted] that restitution in full would be made by his "accountant" in 7 to 10 days. As I did not want this liar and thief to have my home address I supplied him with my wife's office address for mailing. I waited two weeks. On August 15th I returned and told [redacted] I had not received the refund. He said "since I was being nice" he would have his "accountant" process the refund on the next business day. I again supplied him with an address for mailing. I waited two weeks. On August 29th I returned to see if there had been a problem. [redacted] assured me his "accountant" had mailed the check on August 28th. Again I'm Waiting.Desired Settlement: I would like [redacted] to refund me the 110.00 he owes me. I want him to send the check to:[redacted] I DO NOT WANT THIS LIAR AND THIEF TO KNOW MY HOME ADDRESS! Would YOU!!!

Review: I called the Shoe Doctor about fixing my boots prior to taking them in. I was assured I would be able to drop them off and pick them up later in the day, which was important as I live almost 2 hours away. My husband dropped them off on September 4, 2015. He was told they would be open until 5:00 p.m. and my boots would be repaired and ready for up pick the same day. He paid $28.75, the cost of the repairs. When he went back at approximately 2:30 p.m., the store had already closed.

I contacted them the following Monday. I was told they decided to close early and they would mail me my boots at no cost to me. Realizing a couple days later that my address wasn't on the claim check I called and gave them my contact information. I was told the boots were done and would be mailed. After over a week I called back , as I had not received them. I was then told they had been busy, but he would mail them that day.

After another week and no boots I called back. I was told they had been mailed and he would check with the post office and he would let me know. I received no follow up call and called again. He said "no one called you?" I said no. He said he would check with the lady who mails stuff for him. I called back and he said she did mail them and he would call the post master. I had to call back to see the status. He said the box had been crushed and he had them and would mail via [redacted].

I again waited a week and called back, November 2, 2015. When the phone was finally answered someone picked it up, as I could hear people talking, and the line then disconnected. I called back again at various time and got the answering machine. When I finally got a person, he said he was just answering the phone and the other guy, who I had been speaking with all this time, was in the restroom. Oddly enough, the guy who answered was telling the other guy that I was on the phone and I could hear the guy who was "in the bathroom" responding. The guy said he could have the guy call after he got out of the restroom. I indicated I was only going to have a signal for a few minutes. I got no return call after five minutes. When I got a signal about 45 minutes later I called back. I got no answer. The answering machine indicates calls will be returned within the hour. It was close to 5:00 p.m. I left a message with two contact numbers, indicating a text could also be sent to the one number. I requested that they contact me with the [redacted] tracking number for the package, as I was previously told my boots were gonna be mailed [redacted] Furthermore, I indicated I felt they were unprofessional and that it was ridiculous that it was literally right at two months and I still had not received my boots. I stated I would contact the Revdex.com in an effort to see how I needed to proceed with this matter.

The following morning, November 3, 2015, I still had not received a call by approximately 10:30 a.m. I called again and got the answering machine. I did not leave a message.

As stated earlier, the boots were dropped off September 4, 2015, with the assurance they would be ready to pick up as long as it was prior to closing. The repair cost were paid at the time of drop off. As of this date, two months later, I still do not have my boots. I have been lied to repeatedly during the situation. I am seeking my repaired boots OR at least my boots back and my money refunded.Desired Settlement: Finish the job and delivery. I would like to have the repairs done to my boots that I paid for and would like to have them delivered as promised.

Review: I took an expensive Louis Vuitton Duffle Bag to be repaired. I Took it in around July 3rd 2013, and was told on my pick up slip it would be ready august 3rd. It was not, and continued to not be ready up until august 18th when I had to leave the area as I was only there for work. I contacted the business profusely and am either ignored or told, we have been sick and couldn't get it to your or cant mail it, or its been mailed I think we have to check. My Bag is Stole, and well am my $112 ish dollars in repair. They do not answer the hone for days, and when they do they offer no information.Desired Settlement: I Want my BAG, Send to me, Repaired, and Honestly, I want a refund. I have been without it since the first part of July. I was supposed to use it ton a trip I am taking tomorrow, for 4 months out of the country. The Bag will have to be sent to [redacted] c/o [redacted] If my Bag has disappeared, I expect an AUTHENTIC replacement, and a full refund.

Business

Response:

Manager states the repair was $185.00 and that includes shipping charges. Once he receives payment of $185.00 he will ship the item to the consumer at whatever address he would like as long as it is not out of the country.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[As of my last conversation wit the company, my repair required no further payment as I paid in full at the time of drop off, and the shipping was to be free because the item was not ready when it was supposed to be and they knew I was leaving the area three weeks after the ready by date, and which point it still was not ready. The original receipt is provided where I paid in full. ]Regards,[redacted]

Review: I dropped off a pair of sandals for repair. He stated he would repair the shoe that was broken & repair the other shoe as it was about to break also. He stated he would resole both sandals and fix the T straps on both pairs (each side) at the ankles. I dropped off the sandals on 05/01/2015 and he stated they would be ready on Wednesday 5/6/2015, I went in to pick them up on 5/7/2015 and he stated they were not ready. I went back one week later on 05/14/2015 and the sandals were still not ready. I received a call & voicemail on 05/22/2015 stating my shoes were ready. I went to pick up the sandals and as I inspected them I realized he didn't complete the work that he had already charged me for. He did resole the sandals, however the soles he used are more for tennis shoes or work shoes than dress sandals. I walked back in the store and educated him he didn't complete the work as he stated so he went back into the store and then came out to speak with a customer who had left. She left because I advised her to take her business elsewhere, and supposedly the credit card system was down and they were demanding cash for services not yet rendered. He came back in from speaking with other customer and told me I was rude. He then brought my sandals back out to me without repairing them and said that was the best he could do. He offered no refund, just excuses after excuses after excuses. I have NO IDEA how he is still in business with all of the terrible complaints I have read online and from personal friends. I have filed a dispute with my bank regarding the charges as he didn't complete the work as promised. I probably could have done a better job with a tube of super glue and it wouldn't have taken 3 weeks for the results.Desired Settlement: I personally feel he needs to find another career instead of ripping off the good people of Bristol. I would like the $27.15 refunded.

Review: I took my ladies boots which were new and had been worn one time , to have snap replaced on them. I was told 5 times that they would be ready which each time I arrived they were not ready, But finally on the sixth attempt to pick them up I recieved them in a terrible condition, they had replaced my snaps with used , scratched up snaps , so I ask them to replace the snaps and put new ones on the boots , they told me to leave , get off their property the owner yelled and screamed at me , I ask him why are you yelling at me , I am not being mean to you I only want my boots fixed, and all he would do was yell and be rude, he really was very unprofessional , He told me if I didnt leave he would call the police, so I told him go ahead I have done nothing wrong, but he did not call police. he just kept yelling LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE The man is very stressed or something . . Thank youDesired Settlement: Refund is all , Because I know he will not apologize

On the receipts the x's are what was suppose to have been done to the coach purses. The faded coach purse was suppose to been blue and velvet..well not when I got it back. The tan coach purse receipt x's was suppose to put a real coach zipper and buttons back on it the handles was suppose to have been fixed and it was supposed to been condition well as you can see from the pictures nothing was done to either purse but mess up.... Thanks [redacted]
