Smart Travel & Incentives Response • Mar 20, 2019

Dear Revdex.com,

We are very sorry that Mrs. was unhappy with her travel voucher. Her voucher was activated in November of 2018, not 33 months ago. She requested to travel in either March or May of this year. Her first date was not available, but was checked again a week later and she was emailed an offer to travel on her first choice date. The offer included two round-trip airline tickets, two nights hotel stay at one of eight different properties and the cost she would she have to pay to travel. That email was sent to the address on file on 12/10/18. Mrs. responded back to the offer and stated that it did not work for her. On 01/09/19 before her second choice date could be checked, Mrs. cancelled her voucher with us. She was sent a refund less the $20.00 as per term D of the terms and conditions. Term D states the following :

Cancellation Policy & Contact Info: You cannot make any changes to a confirmed reservation. If you cancel or fail to show to a confirmed reservation, you cannot reschedule. Any refunds of money paid will be in accordance with the airlines/hotels refund policies. Please note that it may be possible that you will not receive a refund of any money paid should you choose to cancel, or fail to show. If you choose to cancel your voucher after submitting a travel request form, but prior to booking, you will be subject to a $20.00 fee. Cancellation notices must be in writing and either mailed, faxed or emailed. Any questions may be addressed via email, phone or mail. Our phone number is *** and our mailing address is *** Our email address is *** and our fax number is ***

Again we are sorry that Mrs. was unhappy but we did try and travel her, and refunded her when it was requested. To make sure Mrs. is satisfied we will send her the additional $20.00 that we ordinarily keep when a lot of work is done on a customer's behalf, such has making a travel offer. Hopefully this will satisfy Mrs. complaint.

Best regards,
Smart Travel

See Attached Letter:

They held the deposit for 3 months not 33. As you can see on the 2nd fax sheet the only trip offered was for $580.36. They never came up with and other dates that it would be available at the come on offer. They made you book 90 days apart. What is their conversion rate of people getting this advertisied deal?

Smart Travel & Incentives Response • Apr 09, 2019

Dear Revdex.com,

Ms. states that the offer made to her was $580.36. The cost to her was higher than normal due to a $98.00 per person surcharge. The cost of the tickets when checked the first time exceeded the $350.00 per ticket maximum allowed that is listed in her terms and conditions, which is why when it was first checked it was unavailable. This was likely do to Spring Break. Ms. called in and spoke with an agent after receiving the notification that her dates were unavailable and the agent re-checked the dates at her request. The agent then made an offer which included a surcharge. This was done despite the fact that the tickets exceeded the $350.00 maximum, and only because Ms. requested it. The actual quote she was sent is pasted below. Ms. also stated she was not sent any other offers, and that is because she cancelled her voucher before it was time for the next date on file to be checked. Again we are sorry that it did not work out for Ms. and we did send her a the additional $20.00 refund she requested on 03/29/19. As you can see from the below offer there is quite a bit of work that goes into each customers offers and the reason we initially withheld the $20.00 fee. We regularly travel customers on these vouchers and had Ms. accepted her offer, she would have been one of them.

Best regards,

Smart Travel

Dear Ms. M,

I think you must have us confused with your sponsor. We are a full service travel agency and don't hold any type of talks. I do see that you activated our air and cruise vouchers and that you were made two different offers to travel. The offers we made would have saved you hundreds of dollars. We are sorry that you chose not to accept them and travel through us. Your refund was issued today and will be mailed tomorrow.

Best Regards,
Smart Travel

We were awarded a free cruise and have not received all of the documents to fulfill it. Phone number that is listed says that they cannot help us.
This incident happened in April 2018 and we have been trying to resolve it since then.

Desired Outcome

The email "***" cannot be accessed. If they could get a hold of us by my number that would be appreciated.

Smart Travel & Incentives Response • Aug 13, 2018

Dear Revdex.com,

We do not have any travel vouchers that have been activated by a***. When she states she "has not received all of the documents to fulfill it" does she mean the actual travel vouchers? If another company was to provide her with our travel vouchers then she would need to contact that company. If she means she already mailed travel vouchers into us, then does she have a tracking number, as we have no record of receiving them. She also mentions a phone number she called. What number was that? the Cruise Advisor email was down last week but is up and running again. We are sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused. We would love to help Ms. but don't have enough information at this point to be able to. She is welcome to call us at ***) *** and speak with an agent to assist her.

Smart Travel & Incentives Response • Aug 07, 2018

Dear Revdex.com,

Using the information Ms. provided I was able to find her in the old database and see that her vouchers were activated on 11/14/2014 and they expired on 05/14/2016. Ms *** never requested to travel or receive a refund prior to her expiration date. One of the terms and conditions that she signed agreeing to when she activated the vouchers is that one of those things must be done prior to her expiration date or her deposit is forfeited. Ms. is no longer eligible for a refund.

Best regards,

Smart Travel

This company sells travel vouchers as promotional awards. But these vouchers require you to jump through hoops to use, and then, in the end, their fees end up basically costing the same price you could get elsewhere. Yes, they say they have processing fees in their fine print, and so they are not actively lying. But they are being deceptive because they imply you are getting a huge discount, but their fees equals the cost of what you are getting. So there is NO deal here. Our cruise we "won" would cost us $1005 from them, but we can get it for $1042 elsewhere, so a saving of $37! And no hoops to jump through.

this company Cheap Tickets was in promotion with ***. My husband and I attended a 70 minutes presentation at the *** Hotel in Chesterfield Mo on June 16,2018. We were promised at minimum a $100 *** gift card for listening to their "special buying club" promotion. We opted out of the "promotion" but were still given a voucher, #F-115027, issued on June 6, 2018 for the $100 *** gift card. Today, July 26, 2018 I received a flyer for free airfare and hotel, with enormous processing fees, and an *** gift card which had $5 on it, NOT $100. To redeem this I was directed to ***.com/redeem, and given the claim code, ***, When I entered the claim code on ***.com, it said a $5 gift card was entered into my account. I thought this was wrong and redid my steps and all of a sudden my *** card was CHARGED $100 twice. *** said they would reverse these charges. *** said they knew nothing of a giftclaim or cheap tickets promotion. We have been lied to by this company or companies, *** AND Cheap Tickets at 1982 State Rd. 44 Suite 314, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. During and after the presentation, the presenter actually "yelled" at my husband. Disgusting! Please help me with this scam. Thank you.

Desired Outcome

Modification/discontinuance of Hold these people accountable for the scam they are promoting. There is no free travel and hotel being offered due to all the "possible" surcharges involved in booking and they will not clarify the charges. Also THEY ARE NOT offering a $100*** gift card as promised. They should be prosecuted for FRAUD.

Smart Travel & Incentives Response • Dec 07, 2018

Dear Revdex.com,

Unfortunately I am unable to help Ms. with the information she provided. None of the things she is describing are in any way associated with our Travel Agency. Our travel certificates are sold to many types of businesses and brokers all across the US to be used as promotional incentives and our terms and conditions are plainly and clearly printed on them. We ourselves do not advertise the travel certificates to customers ever, only to other businesses. We certainly do not like hearing that our certificates were intermingled with any offers that might have been misrepresented. We would be happy to travel Ms. on her travel certificate if she would like, she just needs to activate it. I would also recommend she contact the hotel where she attended the presentation and request the name and phone number of the business that hosted the presentation, and then contact them to receive the correct gifts she was offered. I am so sorry that I cannot be of further assistance to Ms..

Best regards,

Desired Outcome

I would like an extension or full refund for my travel package. They are not willing to extend the travel date even though it states it in my confirmation. The representative I spoke with said she didn't even have to let us use the package we purchased let alone extend it. We are now losing$359. She wouldn't transfer me to anyone else. I sent emails a week or two ago and just got a response today. I have tried to call since the July 9th and today was the first day anyone answered the call.

Smart Travel & Incentives Response • Jul 17, 2018

Dear Revdex.com,

We are sorry that Ms. is unhappy. She was actually given an extension at the time of purchase. These packages only allowed for one year to complete travel and she was given two years. The cancellation period to receive a refund was 30 days from the purchase date. We are no longer offering this program and cannot extend her package any further that it already was. Our email sates to speak with customer service regarding an extension. Ms. did speak with us regarding the extension and was told it was no longer an option. That is not something we guaranteed when she purchased the package. Ms. had a full two years to travel or sell the package to someone else. She waited until the expiration month to try and make arrangements with it and unfortunately there is nothing we can do for her. Again, we are sorry she is unhappy and wish she had contacted us sooner so that she could have traveled with us.

Best regards,
Smart Travel

We were promised a 'free.cruise'. We read all the find print. It showed clearly that we would be responsible for tax and port fees, one time processing fee and possible room updates. When we finally got our the offer, they charged us 1005.86. Not only that, we were promised a NCL cruiseline, but received quote for Carnival (talk about bait and switch). They are totally a SCAM!!! I hope that can get my $99 processing fee back.

Smart Travel & Incentives Response • Jun 13, 2018

Dear Ms. S,
I am very sorry that you were promised a FREE cruise from whomever gave you our voucher. Our voucher clearly states that the taxes, port charges (NCCF) and reservation fees are not included when booking your cruise. We are not a scam and send hundreds of people every week on vacation. The reservation form that you submitted did not ask for NCL or any specific cruise/cruise line. We are more than happy to let you choose new dates and specify the cruise line you prefer and we will do our best to book it for you with a great savings. Please keep in mind that no matter what you request you will be responsible for the above mentioned taxes and fees. Thank you.
Julie J

Customer Response • Jun 15, 2018

When I received the planning package, it specifically stated that the cruise was going to be on NCL ( good thing I saved all the corespondents). So therefore, when I sent out my request I specifically requested NCL. So when I received the offer, I was surprised. To me this is switch and bait that scam artists use all the of time. The 'discounted' offer for the carnival cruise cost $1005.80, even though it was advised as free free. When searching on Carnival website, this same cruise would cost 1096.80. So if I wanted to book the cruise, what kind of 'discount' is this? EI I can do much better with my AAA travel agent. I'm not new to cruising, I've done 5 cruises already. I also don't mind cruising with Carnival. I don't mind paying the tax and fees as I was informed. I abhor being lied to.
So I'm calling out this company what it is SCAM! Anyone dealing with should beware!

Hi, I am attaching a copy of my original complaint to Revdex.com Oklahoma. When they responded (Professional

Hi, I have attached a copy of the Complaint I lodged against ***.They responded, instructing us to contact their vendor Cheap Tickets, we did and were instructed to send a money order for $100.00 which we did,They sent us a letter (copy encl.)We have signed receipt from the USPS showing receipt and a confirmation from our Credit Union the money order was cashed. We took their word and withdrew our complaint. They never

Dear Revdex.com,

Mr. was booked and confirmed for travel and has already been sent all of his documentation. He is scheduled to travel in February of 2019. He was quite happy with his vacation. I hope this resolves his complaint.

Best regards,
Smart Travel

Customer Response • Dec 18, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Vendor has settled satisfactorily.

I'm not sure whether this company is incompetent or a total scam. I purchased a vacation package. I can't get it refunded so I've gone through the steps of executing on the package and there have been delays throughout the entire process. The communication is only by email and when called, they will not speak to me directly. Email is few and far between and so far has not had any positive outcome.

Smart Travel & Incentives Response • May 03, 2018

Mr. L purchased a Las Vegas package from Smart Travel. We have spoken to him a couple times. We have sent him all of the information pertaining his vacation package and he does not want to pay the hotel taxes as required by his terms and conditions. We have a recording of the purchase which states the terms he agreed to. We want Mr. Levy to travel and have a great vacation. If Mr. L wants us to contact him we are more than happy to do so. Thank you.

Customer Response • Jun 24, 2018

I'll stop short of calling this vacation vendor fraudulent. However, they employ deception in their sales tactics.

Indeed, all that is said above is true. I was reluctant to pay the hotel taxes until I had all of the details clarified. In the clarification, I have found that this company uses deceptive sales practices - not fraud, per se - but deception at a minimum. In order to not lose my initial payment, I ended up paying for the room taxes. In the end, my hope is to have a pleasant vacation with my family.

What I consider deceptive sales practices are things like calling the Discount Dining Dollars and Restaurant.com cards "food vouchers". The amount of time required to use either of these methods to try to save a few bucks on each meal makes them fairly worthless. The $450 in food vouchers I was promised means that I will, in order to realize the face value, end up spending well more than $450 out of my pocket.

Another deceptive sales practice is to call it a deal at all. The same hotel is available without all of the gimmicks from Expedia.com and other online vendors at a cheaper rate for a better room. This package was deceptively being sold as being of a greater value than it actually is.

The worst part of it is that I will still need to spend 90 minutes wasting the time-share host's and my time to hear about a vacation package that I don't care about. The presentation is a requirement of the "deal".

I will never again do business with this vendor and I hope that I can, by writing a detailed review such as this, keep others from being suckered.

Smart Travel & Incentives Response • Jul 02, 2018

We are very sorry Mr. L is unhappy with his package as that is certainly not our intention. We do explain during the sale that the customers is responsible for their own taxes. We are sorry if the dining was not thoroughly explained to Mr. L. However we do feel if he is spending $450 to save $450 then he is getting a 50% savings, which is a very good deal and what the dining was intended to do, save money during the vacation. Having to attend a 90 minute presentation was also explained during the sale. Again we are sorry that Mr. L is unhappy with his package, or if everything was not explained to his full understanding, and hope he has a great vacation. Thank you.

The company did not deliver its promise in making a reservation for our cruise.
We sent the claim in August 2017 along with $99 deposit for a cruise reservation. The instructions from the company (attached) stated that "a reservation specialist will contact you with availability approximately 30-90 days prior to your first requested date."

We waited for a representative from the company to contact us; however, no one did. We even thought that due to Hurricane Irma, the company was running behind schedule. We, ourselves, were flooded by Hurricane Harvey.

In April 2018, we contacted the company asking for the cruise info or a refund of the $99 deposit, however, Margie (Customer Service) stated that our package expired in January of 2018 and thus the deposit is forfeited.

It looks like this company's practice is to get the $99 deposit, send the letter stating that someone will contact to make the travel arrangement, wait for the expiry date to come without contacting the customers and then forfeit the deposit.

This company does not fulfill its obligation in contacting us to confirm the cruise date, as stated clearly in the "Vacation Planning Package" letter. Again, the letter stated that "a reservation specialist will contact you with availability approximately 30-90 days prior to your first requested date."

We have done our duties in sending in the claim form and $99 deposit on time. If this company fails to deliver the cruise promise, then it needs to return the $99 to us.

It is unacceptable and unethical to be doing this type of scam.

Desired Outcome

Return the $99 deposit.

Dear Revdex.com,

*** activated her vouchers on July 13, 2017 and sent in a request to travel out of Miami on 10/21/2017 or out of Port Canaveral on 12/9/2017. She was emailed an offer to travel at the email address provided on her activation form on 08/30/2017. The offer was for the four different cruise options.
*** departing on 10/22/2017
*** departing on 12/09/2017
*** departing on 12/09/2017
or *** departing on 12/09/2017

*** did not respond to that offer and this is the first time since the offer was sent that she has contacted us.

*** has until 01/13/2019 to complete travel or request a refund. I will send out via email another planning package so that she can choose whichever options she prefers.

Free cruise up to 7 days on *** with max out of pocket up to $250, but turns out $1200!
My wife and I attended a presentation for a "buying and Travel Club" in June of 2017. For participating our " prize" was a free cruise up to 7 days on ***. We sent our voucher and our $99 reg fee. Our first choice was not available, but our second was for a cost of $1200 for the two of us! Far from free, and much more than $250 seasonal charge! I called them and they said there is no such thing as a free cruise! She did however state "$1200 for two on a cruise is cheap! They (***) say they are only a fulfillment center! Perhaps they should fulfill in lieu of scamming? I want my FULL refund for my money ($99) and I want these people placed on notice! They claim they have no information about any of this other than my name (so they must have info)! The woman I spoke with was rude, and the company I find highly questionable! I also want to know the "***" that issued the voucher for ***. ***valso offered us a *** for approximately the same cost! We were not entitled to ***! Something very wrong here...both misleading and false advertising on behalf of the *** and fulfillment center!

Desired Outcome

I want an immediate and complete refund of my money, and to cease this type of scam! Whoever they are working with is also questionable!

Smart Travel & Incentives Response • Mar 14, 2018

Dear Revdex.com,

I am very sorry that *** is unhappy with his cruise offers. I am not sure where he got the impression that his out of pocket would only be $250.00. Our vouchers do state he has to pay a $99.00 per person reservation fee, the Non-commissionables which range from $89.00-$ 149.00 per person and taxes which range from $49.00-$129.00 per person. He also requested to travel in April which is mid-season and incurred a surcharges. This was stated in the terms of his voucher. The port and date is selected only had options for ships that were not a part of his voucher and incurred a surcharge, which was also stated in the terms. We received *** request to cancel on 3/5/18 and his refund will be issued within four weeks of that date.

Best regards,
Smart Travel

Company is trying to charge for extra charges for the remainder of trip which was not stated initial acceptance call and refuses to speak on the phone
Purchase of a Vegas vacation on 5/3/16 over the phone. I was enticed to purchase this trip for 349.00 which included up to $350.00 airfare credit, 3 night stay in a hotel of multiple choices, 200.00 dining credit to multiple restaurants which was told will cover many dinners and 100.00 gaming chip. Package to expire in 2 years. Attempted to book starting in 1/11/17 and didn't hear until 1/18 and experienced difficulty right off since I was told that I needed to go to *** and then had to email to let them know I was told there was other hotels to choose from. However, in response to my request, was told some hotels had peak upgrade fees since it was a "peak" time I was requesting. In the initial call of purchase, was told there were many hotels to choose from such as ***...but was never told of extra fees for any hotels. At this time I requested to have a recording of my phone call as proof since they had stated they listened to it several times however this was never provided to me. The booking didn't work out and in August, I emailed to make sure my voucher was good through next year and was told that they do not honor through expiration. I then requested a refund since I didn't want to hassle with this company anymore and that if they listened to my recording, it says it could be extended. The next day they responded saying they could extend it, possibly so they didn't have to refund me for the trouble. This has already been twice the company has tried to change what was said in the initial call, first about hotels and then longevity of my voucher. I started to try to make my next booking on 11/13/17 and until now have faced much frustration and rudeness and wasted time through now as I write this. My first obstacle was after I requested my trip and was told there were huge fees, about 350.00 extra to pay, broken down in to airfare, hotel taxes and booking fees. I had emailed that I wanted airfare options but was not given any. I was not informed of hotel taxes and booking fees either. Nor, did they meet the criteria of air I requested in terms of times I put on my request. I was then told that I can look up my own and give it to them and they will try to book that. I had to look up my own airfare and tell them as I was told I can't book it myself or if I do, I will not be reimbursed. It doesn't seem right that the company would choose a very expensive airfare when there are other options at a cheaper rate, meeting the 350.00 credit. I also stated that I was not told of booking fees/hotel taxes. They have since removed the booking fees as they stated that was not in the original phone call when I purchased the package. They would not remove the hotel taxes and I sent them my initial letter not talking about hotel taxes and requested my recording. They finally sent my recording but only the half where I purchase the package. I listened and they discuss airfare taxes I need to pay but do not talk about hotel taxes. They insisted it did talk about it even after I listened several times. Through all these frustrating emails, I had tried to get them to call me and no one has. I always hear about being aware and cautious of places that will not call you and prefer to speak through e-mail. I wanted someone to listen to my recording with me so we are on the same page. I also received confirmation of my booking and was given a receipt to pay with air and hotel taxes and then also a 3% credit card fee that I was also not informed. I called today and spoke to a woman who basically told me everything was in the email, she handles all customer service calls and said I couldn't speak to a manager since phone calls are not recorded and emails are the only trail. She didn't let me get in a full sentence at all and eventually then hung up on me. Then afer all this, the manager finally emails to apologize for the rudeness but nothing else. I requested a call and but no response. Very disappointed in all this.

Desired Outcome

I would either like a full refund for the purchase since it is now almost expired or be able to take the trip, less any additional fees for the inconvenience, time taken through calls and emails and rudeness for customer service.

Dear Revdex.com,

I am very sorry Ms. is unhappy with her package. She was in the final stages of booking, we had in fact already booked the airline tickets so we did not lose them, and also her hotel. She had approved all of this, in her communication between her and her agent. To finalize the booking we needed her to send in the credit card authorization form to pay for her share of the cost. Ms. decided that she would not pay for her hotel taxes, stating that when she purchased her package she was not told she had to pay hotel taxes, only taxes. We explained that us stating taxes means any and all taxes that would arise during the booking process and while she is traveling. I believe the amount was under $20.00. We had to cancel her airline tickets within 24 hrs of booking them in order to avoid a penalty and did go back and forth with her via email over the course of that 24 hrs so that she fully understood our position on the matter. She agreed to pay the taxes when she purchased the package and again when she electronically signed agreeing to the terms and conditions. Ms. is past the time frame she had to receive a refund but does have until 4/18/18 to use her vacation package.

Thank you

I am responding late to this as it was the holidays. I am not satisfied with this resolution as I was told on the telephone conversation which was recorded that I needed to pay airfare taxes only, not hotel. They didn't state "taxes", they stated "airfare taxes". Taxes came out to over 50 dollars and I had to clarify the price online myself and found a cheaper "tax". They then gave me that lower tax rate however I just wanted to ask why they were cheaper. They have refused to listen to the inital phone conversation with me and have refused to handle any issues on the phone requesting they all be handled by e-mail which has been frustrating. The one time a live person came on was when they were extremely rude and said they couldn't discuss this dilemma over the phone. They also stated in an email they only record the purchasing part of the initial call but not the selling one which is the one I wanted to hear to remember clearly what why I was enticed in to purchasing. They clearly do not want a trail that can lead to their deceptiveness which is why they conveniently record part of their phone conversations only and refuse to discuss matters on the phone. I have also caught them trying to charge extra taxes, and a booking fee which was never discussed. This trip planning has caused a lot of stress, and unnecessary wastes of time.

Dear Revdex.com,

We have already explained to Ms. previously that the initial phone call was not recorded, therefor not accessible. The only recording is the verification recording. That recording tells her exactly what she received, and that she will be responsible for the "airline ticket cost over and about the $350.00 credit, any taxes and fuel surcharges." That is a direct quote from the recording. I am sorry if Ms. interpreted that as any taxes relating to the airline rather that any taxes at all. The only tax we ever charged was the airline taxes and the hotel taxes. Both of which were provided by the airline/hotel. I am sorry that Ms. is still unhappy but we have stated all we are willing to do for her and that position has not changed. We are sorry that we could not resolve the complaint for Ms. with a refund but she can still travel using her package until her expiration date of 4/28/2018.

Thank you

We recently went on a cruise set up by Smart Travel. The first rep we got was going to be a complaint but then I received a message from Julie J. She turned everything around and we were handled in a VIP fashion. Julie walked us through the whole process even checking us in and sending our papers. We are so happy to have her as our travel agent and would highly recommend her. She is a valuable employee and made our vacation one to remember forever. When we are able to go again, we will be calling Julie J!! Thank you Julie for all you did for us!!

I am so very happy to hear that you had a GREAT vacation to Mexico!!! Thank you for using Smart Travel.

This company is very deceitful and anyone you talk to will give you a different story.
This company has you fill out a travel request with 2 options and send in a cashiers check for $100. We submitted the form 3 separate times, and only heard back once, that our trip would not be accepted. We attempted 2 more times and never heard back and never got our trip or our $100 back. Finally we heard back after the offer was expired, 1.5 years later and were told there is nothing that they could do because it was expired. This is just wrong

Desired Outcome

I want my $100 back!

Dear Revdex.com,

Mr. activated his voucher on 9/15/15 and was sent his planning package in the mail on the following day. He had until 3/15/17 to complete travel or receive a refund of his deposit.

On 12/16/15 Mr. sent in his requested dates to travel in either April or June of 2016, unfortunately both of his choices were to fly out of an airport that was not on the approved list he was provided via a website. We sent him a letter telling him so along with a new form so that he could make new selections. That letter was sent on 1/18/16 leaving Mr. with more than a year to use his voucher. Mr. did not send anything back in to us until 9/13/17, well after the expiration of his voucher. He did not send in multiple forms as he stated in his complaint.

We are however going to issue a refund of his $100 deposit even though we are not required to, because we like for all of our customers to be satisfied with our services.

Mr. will be mailed a check within the next 2 weeks for his full $100.00. We hope this satisfies his complaint.

Best regards,
Smart Travel
