Smile Bright Dental Plan Reviews (22)

The response from Smile Bright is not totally true I clearly informed the salesman that I was a Federal Employee and that I had limited coverage under my [redacted] Health Insurance and that is why I had ALREADY purchased a supplemental dental plan to cover more I told him I was uneasy getting a third policy to cover what the others did not However, he coxed me into the plan I contacted him to state that after further review, I found his plan to be unnecessary and wanted a refund That is when Smile Bright's attitude changed They wanted nothing of me cancelling They originally told me no Then they did call back and told me to get the dentist's wife to say it was not beneficial to me and they would refund it I am not going to pit my dentist's wife against Smile Bright when it was the Smile Bright salesman that coxed me into buying his product He told me there were only a limited number of plans for my dentist's patients which put pressure on me to buy it right away The dentist's wife would be talking bad about Smile Bright and that would not look good to Smile Bright and I don't believe it is proper for Smile Bright to put me, nor her, in that position.Saying that I added dental plans after my Smile Bright plan is a bold face lie! I made it extremely clear to the salesman, upfront! There for I am still requesting my full refund and to not be renewed in the future.Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter

Smile Bright sold the plan to Mark who never mentioned nor was pushed into buying a third dental plan I don't understand why anybody would have even two dental plans let alone three However, as I explained to Mark, Smile Bright offers a money back guarantee to the satisfaction of the dentist and the prices the consumer pays matches the rate schedule they bought We do not offer refunds because you obtain other dental plans in the year and then wish to cancel other dental plans you bought earlier in the year, in this case being Smile Bright I told Mark that when he goes to the dentist, if presenting Smile Bright and his other plan or plans does not work out to save him more than the he spent on this plan, then we would be happy to refund him the cost of the plan, and he agreed That was the last contact I had with him which was is early December Now he has tried a different approach We would be happy to refund him if the plan does not work for him after he goes to the dentist and the dentist tells us that combining his plans has no value to him Sincerely, Smile Bright Dental Plan

WowJust, wow! I cannot believe this place even existsLet me tell you about my experience with Smile Bright Dental PlanOne day I randomly got a call from them and they explained this awesome special that they were havingFor $I could sign up and get better deals from dental cleaning all the way to bracesSo, I checked it out and it seemed pretty legit, so I verbally agreed over the phone that I wanted to sign upI couldn't afford the $all at once so I decided to do different paymentsThe first payment was scheduled a week after I verbally agreed over the phoneWithin those couple of days I did my own research and decided that I didn't actually even need dental care because my teeth are in no need of extended careI went on groupon and found a cleaning service for $so I came to the conclusion that I didn't need this dental plan after allNow this is where I'm completely blown away by the amount of extreme rudeness and selfishness by the "boss" Rob MichaelsI first called Michael, the sales pitcher, he then directed me to RobI explained to Rob that I changed my mind I decided that I wanted to cancel the scheduled payments before they even went throughRob then yelled at me and belittled meHe told me I couldn't cancel because I "didn't need it anymore" and that it wasn't a valid excuseBUT, if I went to one of their approved locations (after paying the start up fee) and I didn't like the carpet that I could cancel that way which makes absolute NO senseSo I proceeded trying to explain to him that I hadn't even paid the start up fee and he started talking over me and told me that he didn't careI told him that I didn't sign any documentation, and again, he told me he didn't care because he had my voice recorded stating that I verbally agreed to start my trialHe also stated that its legal in Arizona to count that as a signed document and that he wasn't going to explain all of Arizona's laws because "I should already know them"He yelled at me, falsely accused me, harassed me, literally LAUGHED at me over the phone, and told me he wasn't going to stop the payments because everyone else (dentist, sales pitcher) were already paid for my agreement How is that MY fault? The payments hadn't even been processed yet! I was shaking and crying because no employer has EVER made me feel the way he made me feelNeedless to say, this place does not deserve anyone's money considering how much of a big deal they made for the $that hadn't even been processed yetI am in complete and utter disbeliefI will make this known all over the internetstars

We wish Mark the best and are refunding him the total 109.00.  There is a lot of inconsistency in how this actually went, but nevertheless our consumer satisfaction is more important than anything.  We want Mark to know we only tried to help him, and never intended to keep his money if the plan didn't work well for him.  Sincerely, Robert I[redacted] CFO SmileBrightDentalPlan

1 day I got a call from smile bright dental plan & they explained this special that they were having. For $79 I could sign up & get better deals. So, I verbally agreed over the phone that I wanted to sign up. I couldnt afford the $79 all at once so I decided to do 3 payments. The 1st payment was scheduled a week after I verbally agreed over the phone. Within those couple of days I did my own research & decided that I didn't need dental care b/c my teeth are in no need of extended care. I went on groupon & found a cleaning service for $25 so I came to the conclusion that I didn't need this dental plan after all. This is where I'm blown away by the amount of rudeness by the "president" Rob Michaels.I explained to Rob that I decided I wanted to cancel the payments before they went through. Rob yelled at me & belittled me. He told me I couldnt cancel b/c I "didn't need it anymore" & that it wasn't a valid excuse. BUT, if I went to 1 of their locations (after paying the start up fee) & I didn't like the carpet that I could cancel that way which makes absolute NO sense. So tried to explain to him that I hadn't even paid the start up fee & he started talking over me & told me that he didn't care. I told him that I didn't sign any documentation, & again, he told me he didn't care because he had my voice recording that I verbally agreed to start my trial. He also stated that its legal in AZ to count that as a signed document & that he wasn't going to explain all of Arizona's laws b/c "I should already know them". He yelled at me, falsely accused me, harassed me, LAUGHED at me over the phone, & told me he wasnt going to stop the payments b/c everyone else (dentist, sales pitcher) were already paid for my agreement. How is that MY fault? The payments hadnt even been processed yet! I was shaking & crying b/c no employer has EVER made me feel that way. Needless to say, this place does not deserve anyones money considering how much of a big deal they made for the $79 that hadn't even been processed yet.

I have reviewed the response...

made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

I filed a second complaint because I did not get addressed the problem with the false advertising.  I was trying to send you a copy of the advertisement that said xrays and exams were free, (when in fact I was charged $44 for them) which was the basis of my complaint.  I took the settlement of partial payment because I figured that’s all I’d get from this guy, but it still is not right that he justifies that the exam would have been more without his plan when in fact they were advertised as free.  I will try once more to download the advertisement, but I have a new computer with windows 8 and I am having a hard time downloading or loading anything.  I think I finally got it so you can see what I’m talking about-and yes-I do have a probem with settling for the $109 only-I still think it’s false advertising and I want my $44 also.

I, [redacted], ceo of Smile Bright Ms. [redacted] claims that she was unaware of the charges she incurred when she went to the dentist. Everyone is mailed a "fee schedule" and can also go to[redacted].com and view the "fee schedule" weather they are a member or not. It CLEARLY states there is a twelve dollar sterilization fee per visit, and that full mouth x-rays are a thirty two dollar charge. This is exactly what the provider/dentist charged. There is no "false advertising" as she claims. In fact you may go to[redacted].com and view the prices under "preventive dentistry" yourself. As for [redacted] "not kowing what she is selling". [redacted] is the vice president of Smile Bright for the last twenty four years and is responsible for over eighty thousand members in Maricopa County. She was also a dental assistant for twenty seven years.According to [redacted], Ms [redacted] was hostile to her and would never give her a chance to talk, and would hang up on her, then call back and yell at her over and over. [redacted] is not aggressive, and tolerated the abuse.Nevertheless, Smile Bright is not in business to keep someones membership fee if they are not satisfied with the plan. Therefore, I will refund the cost of the dental plan ($109) to her.As for the fees she incurred going to the dentist ($44). We will not refund this fee UNLESS Ms. [redacted] wishes to go back to the dentist and pay the dentists "usual customary fee (UCR)" for the full mouth x-ray, office visit, and exam. This UCR fee for the State of Arizona is also clearly listed on our plan and will be a charge of thirty dollars for the office visit, twenty five for the exam, and ninety eight dollars for the full mouth x-rays, totaling one hundred fifty three dollars. We are liable to the consumer for the fee they pay when going to the dentist, NOT the diagnosis a doctor makes. That is between her and the doctor. In this case she was charged appropriately. As for her claim of another dentist doing "more work" for five thousand dollars, and doing "x-rays for free" after she just had x-rays is not something I believe at all. I think she expected Smile Bright to pay for everything, and when she found out that even with coverage it was very extensive and expensive, she is wanting out. That is okay by me, but is was not necessary to lash out at [redacted] and Smile Bright. I wish her the best and hope all goes well with her dental needs.

I will accept the $109 refund, but their advertisement sent to me clearly states that the exam and xrays are free, which as not the case.  I don't know what you meant by my doctor not really being free, but it was totally free for myself and my father.  My dentist name is Dr. [redacted] and his number is ###-###-#### if you need to check for yourself.  Your dentist charges $12 extra for every little thing he does, which, if your just getting a crown, adds about $100 in $12 charges.  That's ridiculous.  I still think "dental plan" is a scam.

The response from Smile Bright is not totally true.  I clearly informed the salesman that I was a Federal Employee and that I had limited coverage under my [redacted] Health Insurance and that is why I had ALREADY purchased a supplemental dental plan to cover more.  I told him I was uneasy getting a third policy to cover what the others did not.  However, he coxed me into the plan.  I contacted him to state that after further review, I found his plan to be unnecessary and wanted a refund.  That is when Smile Bright's attitude changed.  They wanted nothing of me cancelling.  They originally told me no.  Then they did call back and told me to get the dentist's wife to say it was not beneficial to me and they would refund it.  I am not going to pit my dentist's wife against Smile Bright when it was the Smile Bright salesman that coxed me into buying his product.  He told me there were only a limited number of plans for my dentist's patients which put pressure on me to buy it right away.  The dentist's wife would be talking bad about Smile Bright and that would not look good to Smile Bright and I don't believe it is proper for Smile Bright to put me, nor her, in that position.
Saying that I added dental plans after my Smile Bright plan is a bold face lie!  I made it extremely clear to the salesman, upfront!
There for I am still requesting my full refund and to not be renewed in the future.
Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter.

In reference to [redacted]'s  third attempt to collect the 44.00 from Smile Bright Dental Plan, it is my decision as president of Smile Bright to once again decline  reimbursement. Let me further elaborate.Firstly, Ms. [redacted] states that we "misled" her and are a "scam" because the flyer(which is in the attachment I sent with this letter) states that exams are free and the xrays are free.  She states that she paid an exam fee of 12.00 and had to pay 32.00 for the x-rays, which accoring to Ms. [redacted] should also have been free. Exhibit A in your attachment is the brouchure/benefit schedule that we mail to everyone, along with the flyer.  I clearly numbered the procedures so you can understand.  #1 shows the exam as unlimited no charge throughout the year. #2 shows full mouth x-rays are 32.00.  #3 shows the infectious control/sterilization fee of 12.00.                                                                                                     So, lets recap the flyer.  It states exams are free, which indeed they are throughout the entire year.  The bitewing x-rays are free up to 55.00 throughout the year,  which is what it states on the flyer and the benefit schedule.  However, the full mouth and panoramic x-rays  are more than the 55.00 value the flyer shows, and is covered @ a 60% discount.  The flyer does not add a value of more than 55.00 worth of free x-rays, therefore is not misleading and for most patients that go to a dentist on a regular basis, may only require these type of x-rays.  If you have no records/x-rays to bring to a dentist, and you are a new patient, they will charge for it. There is nothing misleading or scam like about that at all.  In fact, 32.00 is a great price for what she had done, and pretty much paid for the plan itself  just on that procedure alone. As for the 12.00 sterilization fee. All insurance companies charge a copay, and all discount pre-paid plans charge a sterilization fee coded D9999 in Exhibit B.  This is an O.C.E.A. requirement to all dentists in the state of Arizona.  This fee relieves a doctor from any liability by a patient in a malpractice suit related to infectious disease. And, is a mandatory requirement by malpractice insurance companies anywhere in the United States.  Once again, nothing misleading or scam like.Secondly, and even greater significance is the fact that we are a discount plan. Under federal and state law, we are prohibited by the Departmant of Insurance to reimburse any moneys to the consumer for any dental work, or the dentist for any moneys lost.  I cannot and will not jeopardize a cease and desist of my business for Ms. [redacted], especially when we have done absolutely nothing wrong.I would appreciate it if the Revdex.com explains this to Ms. [redacted], and understands that we as a company of  24 years have no intention of misleading or scamming the consumer. I apologize that she feels this way and will refund the cost of the plan to her, which the absolute most we can do for her.I would also appreciate that this does not in any way constitute a lower rating score with the Revdex.com of my company.  Ms. [redacted] has complained over and over, and now over again about my company, and I want the Revdex.com to know we tried everything to prevent this, and have done nothing unethical or wrong whatsoever.  I value my rating with the Revdex.com and hope to see it remain that way.Cordially yours,  [redacted]

If you could please tell this person that we do not call more than once a year, but we will remove this ###-###-#### number from our calling campain.  Sorry for any inconvenience this caused.  Thanks. [redacted]

Review: We renewed our coverage with Smile Bright Dental at the end of Oct. 2012 unaware that we would have dental insurance through my husband's union beginning Jan 2013. In February I contacted [redacted] from Smile Bright and asked her what I needed to do to cancel our policy and asked about a possible refund. She told me to send a letter to [redacted] from Smile Bright, which I did. She contacted me shortly after and said that we would receive a partial refund of either $75 or $65. I have patiently waited for the refund in the mail calling periodically. Two times in the past 3 weeks I have contacted her and been told that the check will be in the mail today and she will follow up with me to make sure I receive it. Since I thought this was a professional business I took her at her word but have yet to receive it. I am not sure what the issue is but when a company tells me they are going to do something I expect that they will do it. Since I was told I would receive a refund I would appreciate receiving the refund and not being lied to.

The dental discount plan is real, though through the customer service I have received if I didn't know better I would almost think it was a scam. We were promised cards in October of 2012 and after calling half a dozen times to this date still have never received them. In addition the coverage changed during the middle of our first year And we were never notified by Smile Bright. Our dentist has been the one to notify us of the coverage changes.

If people want to run a reputable company they need to do fulfill their promises to their customers.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive the refund that I was promised 4 months ago and receive no further contact from Smile Bright Dental.

Review: Solicitation comes from a blocked number with no way of removing my number from robo call. Searched organization and attempted to call and remove my number with no response. I have received repeated calls with no resolution.

Regards,

Review: Sent written advertisement and called several times confirming initial exams and xrays are free, with a big discount for work performed. Had to go specified dentist. Made an appointment with specified dentist. Xrays and exam cost me $44 even after I paid $109 for the dental plan, and estimate of work to be done came out to more than $18,000. I called and complained about the false advertisement and she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. Made no effort to rectify the problem. I since have gone to another dentist and had all the work done (exam and Xrays were completely free) and total was under $5000, and he did more work and got me in much quicker than their dentist.Desired Settlement: I think a refund of the $44 and the $109 would be in order, since she doesn't seem to know what she is selling. I will never use this plan, and never recommend this dentist.

Review: I ordered a one year dental agreement. After a couple months I requested to cancel it and get a pro-rated refund since I had not filed any claims. I realized I didn't need this coverage because it would not provide any benefit to me. It was my third dental plan as I told the salesman. I called ###-###-#### (the only number I had) to cancel. The first run-around I received was to go to a website and file a request online. I did that. I waited and nothing. I called again and said I need someone to cancel the policy and give me a pro-rated refund. They refused. I called again and asked for my salesman. He refused as well. He sold be a bag of goods knowing I already had two other plans and that this plan would pay for nothing since the other plans had it covered. The salesman tried to get me to get my dentist office to say that I would get no benefit and that would be my way out. I am not putting my dentists office in that position. These people are only out for a quick sale. Get your money and then don't care about you.Desired Settlement: As they didn't want to give me a refund the easy way and the right way, now I am asking for a full refund and a letter ensuring that they will not charge me in the future for any renewals.

The dentist's wife would be talking bad about Smile Bright and that would not look good to Smile Bright and I don't believe it is proper for Smile Bright to put me, nor her, in that position.Saying that I added dental plans after my Smile Bright plan is a bold face lie! I made it extremely clear to the salesman, upfront! There for I am still requesting my full refund and to not be renewed in the future.Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this matter.
