I have had problems with my solar panels since installation. After reaching out several times (at least a dozen over phone and email) I still have yet to talk to someone. The few times I have gotten ahold of someone it always turns into a 'contact later' that never materializes.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

My experience with this company was outstanding. I was not totally sold on solar, but after being recommended by numerous friends, I decided to purchase panels for our home. We chose Sopris due to the reviews and the panel selection they offered. We did not have a huge system installed, but the process from selecting panels and filling out paperwork and install days was seamless. Our emailed questions were always responded to and we felt as if we were really cared about and respected as clients. It was our pleasure working with a local Denver company and our system works efficiently and looks great. Thanks Sopris Solar!

We were referred to Sopris Solar from our friends in Boulder who had a great experience with them. Happy to say that our experience was GREAT TOO! The sales staff was very kind and the installation was easy. I had a lot of reservations about the installation because I watched a neighbor who used a different company have a loud, noisy and messy install. Ours was perfect and QUIET. That was important to me because we had a new baby at the time. Our panels look beautiful, the price was good, and everything is in working order. Thank you Sopris Solar. Our family recommends this company.

A subcontractor has threatened a lien against my property since Sopris has not paid them.

Sopris Solar Response • Sep 18, 2019

Hello Ms.:Sopris Solar is always happy to receive feedback on our services. As you are aware, the subcontractor that we used in your area did not finish the project and Sopris Solar came out and completed your installation that is now currently up and running. For this reason, the subcontractor was not paid for the job. More importantly, this particular subcontractor is demanding payment for unfinished projects that Sopris Solar had to complete on their behalf and they attempted to file a Notice of Liens in order to "bully" innocent homeowners (like you) into payment. Our attorneys have already determined that these liens are unlawful and our legal team is in the process of having them removed. We attempted to settle with these contractors for the amount of work that was completed and they declined an acceptance of payment. Sopris Solar refuses to reward bad behavior or poor business practices because it is NOT in the best interest of OUR clients. Customer satisfaction and dedication is our #1 priority and we are trying to keep YOU safe. We were under the assumption that you were happy with our services because we have a record of an up and running solar system on your home and we apologize for these unfortunate issues. Please be aware that these subcontractor liens are unlawful and we are doing everything in our power to make sure that they are removed. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any other concerns and we are dedicated to keeping you up to date on the unfortunate situation with the subcontractors.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

However - please note that Sopris Solar has done no other work at my property nor is there an "up and running solar system" I am still in process with them to get any additional work done at my property. The electrical work was done wholly by that subcontractor and was not finished by Sopris.

Sincerely

I signed a contract for a residential solar system with Sopris Solar on 09/17/2018. I provided a deposit check of $6,500. As of today, 09/07/2019, I still do not have a system installed. I have had many contacts with various employees over the past year, installation dates set and not honored. I have asked for a refund and been told again that they are ready to install, but still no system.

Revdex.com:

I would like to reject the offer of Mediation for complaint ID. First mediation would be inconvenient to my because I live 150 miles from Denver, secondly it would not serve any purpose. Sopris Solar has stated they have no intention of returning my deposit and just keep delaying the solar installation. Soon the delay will be too great for me and I will then need to take them to court so I can move on with another company.

Regards

We signed an agreement to have solar panels put on our house, and was promised to have functioning panels in 60 days. The panels were installed, but no permit has been issued from the City. No permit means no inspections can be called in and the meter can't be set by the utility company. The panels have just been sitting on our roof for a couple of months. Sopris will not return any correspondence about completing the job.

Hello Mr., Sopris Solar has every intention of making sure your system is up and running with the correct permits. We will have someone from Sopris Solar reach out to you ASAP. Thank you for voicing your concerns.

I ordered a solar array and back up generator on Aug. 2 2018 and here I sit with an unfinished system that is too big to connect to the grid. They over sold my system by 20% and owe me a 12k refund on the solar array and they still owe *** electric 9k on the generator and now *** electric wants to put a construction lein on my house. Sopris was supposed to also pay my electric bill untill completion and as of today they owe me $1202.00 in back electric bills. Sopris got 71k from my finance company and here I sit with electric bills and a loan payment as well. I wanted to get solar to lower my bills not double them up. A few months ago loan pal withheld funding from them untill sopris did another conttact with me. Sopris had no intention of fulfilling the new contract. In the contract Sopris was to pay a $150 per day fine after 15 business days if they did not finish or refund . They made no effort to do either and the fines are up to finish or pay and the penalties are up to 7k now. This is a very shady company, the dont answer phones and if I get threw to them I get nothing but lies. Please help

Sopris Solar Response • Oct 09, 2019

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
This is nothing but a delay tactic by an acomplished liar ***, owner of Sopris Solar aka CjrPartners. *** has been promicing a check and to finish this project for over 6 months, I ordered this system 8-2-18 . *** has made no effort to finish the j*** or pay what he owes. *** has blocked my cell and home phone numbers and has the nerve to have a picture of my unfinished array on his web site. I have been told that as of now there are almost 30 customers of Sopris Solar aka CjrPartners llc that are in a similar situation that I am. The finance company on the js is now having to hire another company to finish all of the unfinished js and due to Nathans incompetence and criminal Behavior. Many Of the customers are owed money by *** owner of Sopris Solar aka CjrPartners. As of today *** owes me $37,400 for selling me a system 20%larger than can be connected to the grid, electric bills, finishing the j*** late penalties and he only put a down payment on the back up generator so he owes $9,500 on it and that company wants to put a construction lein on my house. *** and his companies Sopris Solar aka CjrPartners have no relationship with the truth in fact I cant remember ever being told the truth about anything since day one. Nothing but lies and excuses from *** and his shady business partners. Therefore I cant believe a word he says , he cries victim and blames his employees. I believe *** Bill Maher should be held criminally responsible for the fraud he has committed against all these good people trying to go green and do their part to help the enviroment. Every day he is allowed to stay in business if he is allowed to victimize more people. And keep in mind that this is only one finance company on his projects I am sure there are many more victims of his fraudulent criminal Behavior .
Sincerely,

R

Hello, Sopris Solar is aware of the need for service on your inverters and we apologize for the delay. We have a new installer and they will be reaching out to you onThursday to set up a time to swap them out. Hopefully Friday will work.

I contracted with Sopris Solar to install solar panels on my home. They arranged for me to get $22,954 through a company called LoanPal to be paid directly to them. $4,000 of that amount was to reimburse me for tree removal that I paid for out-of-pocket as part of the project. They completed the solar panel installation last month, and LoanPal sent them the $22,954 on August 5th. However, Sopris Solar has not sent me the $4,000 reimbursement or completed the process with my utility company to activate the solar panels. I've called Sopris Solar several times and also called/texted the owner, Scott, on his personal cell phone. Neither Sopris nor Scott has called me back to resolve either issue for several weeks.

I am rejecting this response because:

Sopris has not yet either paid back the money they took nor have they completed installation. They are also not responding to messages. I agree that this is an easy fix, but they have not yet taken any concrete action to make this right. Sopris has promised so many things only to fall short and then disappear. The best way to make this right is to make this right.

Hello Mr., as you know we were at your home this week and got some things squared away. Allen will be installing the final fuse. We appreciate your patience and understand that after we paid you $3,000 - Sopris Solar still owes you $1,000 that we have every intent of paying. You should see a check by Monday at the latest. Thank you!!

Sopris solar installed solar on my home and the system does not work, and their subcontractors were not paid. Their subcontractor which is Sun Key solar has put a Mechanics Lien on my home and is trying to foreclose to get their money.

The solar system installation was never finished, hence, the system does not work. Until the system is in working order, I still have a complaint.

Sopris Solar Response • Oct 09, 2019

Hello, we were under the impression that you had an up and running solar system on your home. We have record of a meter installed on August 8th - we are aware of the Sun Key Solar liens and they are not legal. This team of subcontactors performed sub-par work for our customers and Sopris Solar refuses to reward bad behavior. It is our intention to protect you as our client and someone will be reaching out to you shortly

After a very unsatisfactory year of misinformation and false promises, we finally had solar panels installed by a sub contractor on our roof in July 2019. The installation was faulty and dangerous and as a result, to avoid the risk of fire, we had to redo the entire electrical installation including realigning several of the panels. Sopris failed to respond to calls, texts, emails and a certified letter which was returned noting the company was "Out of Business"

This company is the worst. We contracted them in February the company abandoned us long before our meter was installed 5 days ago. They lied over and over to us,blamed everyone else but themselves for all their mistakes and neglect. We also have a $10000 lein on our home because Sopris won't pay the contractor for the work they performed. After numerous calls with no response we have decided to retain an attorney. We suggest you do the same. If your meter hasn't been installed you will probably have to work your power company yourself as Sopris fails to submit paperwork for completion.Be patient with the power company as they have now become your best friend. We would be sitting with $37000 of equiptment that is useless to you. You'll be paying your loan, your electric bill and legal fees to get your lein removed from your home. Now let's talk warranty. No let's not talk warranty!! It was with Sopris! Sopris Who!!!

Paid for seller the company never pay the subcontractors and slap a $12,000 lien on my home and it's happening to other customers.

Never answers phone calls, very unresponsive. Got system installed last year and took forever for approvals. Now I need a new roof, and answers on Phone, voicemail, text or email. Worst custome service ever. I agree with everything Amanda S says below and I live in Colorado Springs.
Worst company ever.. Nobody has even called to check on system, or emailed or anything. It's like I have your money, "good bye"

I’ve tried to contact Sopris Solar to try to get them to complete the installation of solar for my house. I still need three panels and hookups to my house and rental.

Sopris Solar Response • Sep 20, 2019

Hello Mr., thank you for submitting your concerns. Sopris Solar has every intention of getting your panels up and running. We have record that we tried to contact you via telephone and did not get a response. We will have someone reach out to you immediately and make sure that we get everything done for you. We appreciate your business.

I am rejecting this response because: I reject this claim. I have answering devices on my house phone and also answering capabilities on my cell phone that also receives text. I also live at 1634 Cedar Avenue in Canon City. I have had my phone number with Verizon since 1988 and the house has been in my family since 1966. I receive 8 to 10 solicitation phone calls a day on my house phone (***) and four to 8 solicitation phone calls on my cell phone ***. My phones have caller I.D. and I have not received a phone call from Sopris, Paramount Equipment or any other alias that Mr. N *** is using. I'm here and this is the last month that I'm going to be kind. I'm starting to think I need to talk with the Fremont County District Attorney. I think Sopris needs to reimburse me for the Electricity that I payed Black Hills Energy, the solar bill that I have been paying and not getting. Plus a letter and proof of payment to all the employees who did not get paid while working on my solar. One of which is threatening to put a lien on my house. They have until September 30, 2019 to contact me

Sincerely,

J

Sopris Solar Response • Oct 11, 2019

Hello J, thanks you for contacting us. As you are aware, the subcontractor that we used in your area did not finish the project and we are so sorry this happened. More importantly, this particular subcontractor is demanding payment for unfinished work and then attempting to file a Notice of Liens in order to "bully" innocent homeowners (like you) into payment. Our attorneys have already determined that these liens are unlawful and our legal team is in the process of having them removed.

That being said, Sopris Solar is committed to making things right and we are sending out our IN-HOUSE technician, Allen Hansford, next week to finish the trenching and lay the conduit for the electrical to connect and then we are finished. We are very sorry this happened, but it is our commitment to make things right. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any other questions.

On 20 DEC 2018, we signed a contract to install a residential solar system. Things went well, design submitted 22 JAN 2019, permits issued in early APR 2019, installation of inverter, electrical wiring and panel mounting racks occurred on 15 MAY. The day of installation the company called to say the panels had not come in and asked if it would be ok to start installation of other equipment, I agreed. Sopris stated that the panels would be in at the end of MAY. After hearing no updates from Sopris, I called for an update on 19 JUN 2019 and told me they expect to install at the end of JUN. Again no updates after not showing, so called again 10 JUL asking status. Spoke with both Nathan (owner) and Scott (operations chief) on 10 JUL, they stated they were going to be in 18 JUL and Scott stated he would call to coordinate install on 17 JUL. Never got a call on 17 or 18 JUL so called and texted both Nathan and Scott on 19 JUL for an update. Nathan texted he would call me later on 19 JUL but failed to do so. Called Scott on 22 JUL and left a message for him to provide an update, texted Nathan with similar request on 22 JUL; both have not responded to my call or text asking for an update.

A couple employees have left the company, both project managers that I was dealing with and now find that the salesman that I dealt with at the beginning is in a reduced role, assuming not enough work for full time employment. Given this, my perception is that the company is in a financial bind and now worried that the project they have started is delayed for other reasons than material delivery issues.

I've been very cooperative on the delayed schedule and only ask for routine updates on the status of the project. At this point Nathan's credibility in giving me accurate information on the delivery of material, when they would be able to install and finish the project is suspect now. This suspicion came about from my discussion with Nathan and Scott on 10 JUL, at first Nathan said the panels had come in but when I asked if they were in their warehouse, Nathan responded that they were would be delivered to their business on 18 JUL. Perception is I'm getting the run-around story and now no story.

It has been over a month and no one has come to look or any updates why my system is not working

Sopris Solar Response • Aug 21, 2019

This was a repair project that was taken care of two weeks ago by our technician. The issue with Mr. system was that the monitoring system was not working properly. Mr. system has been producing the expected power since installation. The monitoring system was reporting that two panels were not working which after testing the panels and speaking with the utility company, we concluded that we needed to re-program the monitoring system. ***, our technician, corrected these issues and the customer was happy with the outcome. There should not be an other issue with the system or with the customer

This company is absolutely the worse company I have ever dealt with.
No one answers phone calls, calls you back, or email/text back! Impossible to get ahold of.
Took them almost 6 months, to get the plans submitted to our town to be approved. 2 months to even get the panels on the roof. Another 2 months, to get the panels hooked up for us. We are still not even hooked up correctly.
They never mentioned the critter guard to go on the panels, so we wouldn't have to deal with pigeons. They told us they would put the critter guard up for free because they felt bad about all the issues they have put us through.
So over this company!
They are putting my families health at risk now. With pigeons living underneath our solar panels. Dead pigeons as well.
This is by the worse company ever.
Everyone needs to stay clear of them!
I have no idea how they have a 5 start rating on Google reviews.

We knew we wanted to go solar and we did our homework. Talked to about 4 other companies and got three quotes. Sopris sales staff was AWESOME! The financing options were better than any of the competitors and the reps were really genuine. The whole process was easy - installation went well - and we have not had any problems. We highly recommend Sopris Solar.

Sopris Solar told me that they would install before the end of 2018. It is now the end of February 2019. Financing was not supposed to go through until the Solar Panels were installed and I still have no panels. I have been told by *** that my first payment is March 1st. I have been told multiple times that the panels are here in Colorado and that a installer needs to schedule the install.

Now I cannot reach *** President *** or either of the Customer Service people, *** or ***. In fact all calls go to voice mail including to the general sales number.

This would not have been an issue except my wife has been going through Chemo treatments and I have not had the time needed to hound these guys. These are the business numbers they provided me so I would think that would not be considered personal info.

Sopris Solar Response • Mar 01, 2019

Our operations manager spoke with *** and informed him that we will be installing his systems the second week of March. *** stated that he will remove the complaint once we install the system.

I Purchased a $35,000 solar panel system through Sopris Solar. It has only worked 100% on one day, 2/15/19. It was installed in november.december 2018. I was informed to call and notify the Service Finance company that the installation was done. I went a few weeks before they even had the monitoring system set up. Then 10 panels were not functioning. They said a software update repaired it but unknown why 3 still did not work.
Two months later after attempts and multiple no shows when they said they would be out they sent someone who got it to finally work on friday. 2/15/19 On 2/16/19 the system (3 panels) failed to work, now today 02/17/19 4 panels do not work. They have stated they will pay for my loan payments that I have made. I want an independent solar contractor/engineer who is hired and is not affiliated with Sopris solar to inspect my system to see if it was even installed properly. I just want this replaced. I would not recommend this company. I should have went with *** or a different company. The sales man owen even informed me if he knew this was going to be this way he would have told me to go with someone else. I beleive this company may be a fraud/scam. They are under a different name as an LLC something called

Sopris Solar Response • Mar 01, 2019

Our technicians have been to ***'s home on numerous occasions. ***'s system has been full functional with the exception of one microinverter that is tripping every morning and shutting off.

We have done numerous troubleshooting with the system and have found that the issue was with one of the microinverters. We had one of our technicians go back to the home with a brand new microinverter to switch it out. While our technician was at the home he was contacted by a representative from APsystems, the maker of the microinverter, who advised him that if we wanted to have the microinverter covered under warranty we would have to leave the microinverter intact so that they could run remote diagnostics. If we did remove the microinverter we would be unable to file a warranty claim. With this being said, I made a judgment call and told our technician to leave the microinverter connected to the system so we can have the manufacturer isolate the issue.

On the February 28th, I contacted *** with our Operations Manager and explained why we did not switch out the microinverter. I also apologized to *** and explained why I did decided to leave the microinverter intact. *** understood why we left the microinverter intact and let him know that as soon as we heard back from APsystems that I would contact him with the results of the troubleshooting ticket.

Note: As I was writing this response APSsystem contacted us and said they are sending us a new microinverter and it should be here in two weeks. We will contact *** today and tell him the results.
