Southern Telecom Reviews (71)

Review: My daughter received the Polariod Kids Tablet for her birthday in June 2014. In November the tablet stopped working. I contacted the support service phone number from the quick start guide that had Southern Telecom at ###-###-####. Since this tablet has a 1 year warranty I was advised it would be replaced once I sent it back to address Southern Telecom, Inc. Customer Service [redacted] and the number they provided as reference for my issue SRO number (em dated 11/*/14). They also advised it was no issue not having a receipt as this was a gift. I mailed the package as instructed and paid $13 for the shipping and insurance under tracking number with the [redacted] and the package was received at the location on 11/**/14. And this was all done within the 30 day period as instructed. 11/**/14 they sent an email saying it was not received, I responded with an email 11/**/14 with the tracking information. 12/*/14 they replied email that it was received and once their shipping team attends to it I would receive a confirmation email. 12/*/14 they sent another email again saying the tablet was not received by them and now it is over the 30 day period the order is expired. 12/**/14 I responded via email again that was incorrect and previous emails and tracking information from the [redacted] is proof it was sent and within the time period. I have sent them emails and called the number with no responses and no one answers the phone.Desired Settlement: The tablet value is about $100 and the shipping was $13. Desired outcome is a refund certified check from the company in the amount of $113. I desire the amount of the item vs, the item since there is such poor service from this company and after doing some research on this tablet and company have found other consumers have the same issues on new and replacement items.

Service Replacement Order (SRO) # [redacted] The unit was sent on November *, 2014 and I contacted them on November [redacted] to check the status. They updated the status by email on November [redacted] that they received the unit. I called them 4 times already, every time they informed that they escalated the case; but nothing happened. It has been a month today and I still did not get he unit replaced.Desired Settlement: They should send me a replacement unit (same model or BETTER model) with overnight shipping.

Review: tablet did not work and after 3 telephone calls they decided to have it sent in for repair. now they say they did notrecieve it and the tracking number is not good. but after checking with our post office for tracking information I found out it was delivered nov. **,2015 at 1159a.m. now because of lateness of inquiry of problem they say time has expired, I have been in contact with them by phone daily but they say they have no record of the tracking information and they never received the tablet.Desired Settlement: repair, refund or send a replacement

Review: I purchased a Polaroid 9" Internet Tablet shortly before Christmas. It worked fine until about 3 weeks ago. I was working on it and the power bar showed about 75% power when it just shut off. I have since been unable to turn it back on, let alone work on it. I have tried numerous times (February [redacted], & ** by website/email and February [redacted] by phone) to contact this company by phone and email, but have not received any kind of acknowledgement that I contacted them, let alone a resolution to my problem.Desired Settlement: I want my tablet replaced or the money back that my friend spent on this machine (it was a gift) to get a more dependable tablet.

Review: I originally contacted this company on June [redacted] to find out if the tablet I bought my daughter in late November 2012 has a warranty to cover the screen. When I email the company I get an automated acknowledgement email saying I would be contacted within one business day. They eventually responded saying I should update the firmware. I did as instructed in this email and the problem still exists, so I contacted them again and received the same automated acknowledgement email. After a week I still had not received a response so I sent another email and again, still have not received a response.

Sincerely,

Review: Purchased a Smartab, 7" tablet + wireless keyboard at local [redacted]. store, but distributed by above business. Less than a month following purchase the touchscreen became unresponsive, then after removing screen protector thinking that was affecting the response, but it wasn't. I then noticed a small line across screen. Manufacturer's Warranty terms are 90 days, repair/exchange if item is defective/not working properly. Does not specifically state ANY exclusions other than damage resulting from accident, misuse, abuse, improper installation or operation, lack of reasonable care. The business had me send photos of the screen and by these photos they are claiming misuse and claim "screen damage" isn't covered in warranty, however cannot 100% determine damage through photos, nor does warranty terms exclude screen damage!Desired Settlement: Warranty claims the business will repair or exchange item. I would've settled for reapair, but after the hassle customer service has been I'd prefer to just have item replaced!

Sincerely,

Review: I bought a HD camera Model #: [redacted], it was defective out of the box. After working with customer support, I was issued a return authorization number. I then paid to ship the camera in for warranty repair/replacement. A month later I was sent a camera model #: EVC355. The replacement camera is an inferior product. When I contacted customer service I was told they were currently out of stock of the SVC455 and that the EVC355 was the same product except with a different name. This is not the case. The SVC455 specs: 1080p video, 12 megapixal pictures, switch between video/photo accessible from outside of waterproof case. The EVC355 specs: 720p video, 5 megapixal pictures, waterproof case must be opened to switch video/photo. After having to repeatedly contact customer service, I was issued a return authorization, and I am expected to AGAIN pay to ship the inferior camera back to them for a correct replacement. They are unwilling to send a return label to pay for return shipping.Desired Settlement: Shipping paid to return EVC355. A new SVC455 or better if none is in stock. Sincere apology for having to spend my time to get a simple replacement for a defective product.

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased a Polaroid Tablet it's under a one year warranty. I called the customer service number. It takes them 45- 60 minutes to answer a call and when they do you get a person who has limited English skills so it takes a long time to understand what their trying to tell you. The tablet had a half black and white screen. They emailed me some instructions to get it repaired. First of all I do not own my own computer which is why I bought the tablet in the first place. So I went to my friends and relatives to get the instructions they gave to download when they had downloaded the information and tried to put it on my tablet it said the program was corrupt. So I called customer service again they wanted us to remove the firewalls and antivirus screens in order to get the information on the tablet. No one was willing to do that. So I called them back and they gave me permission to send the tablet back and sent a bunch of instructions on how to do that. I followed all the instructions and sent it back I called a week or so later to see if they had gotten it. I gave them the number they had given as the ticket number for my tablet. They could not find it. I had misplaced the postal receipt with the tracking number so until I found that they could do nothing. I eventually was able to find the receipt and they had received on the [redacted] of Nov. So the next day they sent out another tablet when I received it I turned it on. The screen that came up showed the Polaroid logo and the little circle that goes round and round and eventually stops so the tablet can be unlocked. I let it spin for a couple hours and nothing else happened. I shut it off and waited until the next day and tried again. It did the samething. I called customer service again. Again they sent another email with instructions on how to solve the problem. I called [redacted] and they said they would look at it and see if they could help. I took it there unfortunately they couldn't find a reset button and we're not able to do anything. So they called customer service and he told them he had emailed me the instructions on how to fix and wouldn't help. I went to a computer to look up the instructions I tried to download them but when I clicked on the download button It said if I continued it would damage some files.

I would have thought that when they sent the second tablet they would have made sure it was in working order. It seems for some reason [redacted] has to be downloaded to these tablets. I'm unable to find anyone who will remove the firewalls and antivirus files which I can't blame them. I had asked to speak to a supervisor the first time but he was not any more of a help than the customer service rep. They also speak so low you have to strain your ear to hear what they have to say besides trying to understand what they're asking you to do. I do not remember the dates I called. The first one was Nov 2014 and the last Jan 2015Desired Settlement: I would either like them to get me a new tablet that I can just turn on and it works or else I would like my money back for the tablet plus the postage I have had to pay to return the tablet and a warranty I purchased extra in order to ensure I didn't have any problems with this product

Review: We bought a PTAB 750 for our daughter in Sept. of 2013. It worked for less than four months. We were told to return the tablet for a refurbished replacement product which we received around March. We asked for our money back numerous times. We had the second tablet for a week before it no longer worked (due to not charging-same problem as the first one) and we were told to send the second one back in for a replacement product and this time were assured it would be new. We just received the third product which is definitely not new and IT WILL NOT POWER ON. We have had it 3 DAYS! Three DAYS! We have asked for our money back again. Southern Telecom refuses to give us back our money even though they have now replaced this very cheaply made product THREE TIMES! I just want my money back because I will never purchase any Polaroid Product ever again. Customer service is in India though the home office is in [redacted] but there is no way to contact the home office. I am furious because my four year old daughter can't play with a product that will not hold a charge. Please help us!Desired Settlement: I want the entire balance paid for the tablet refunded immediately. We have tried to do this Southern Telecom's way and it is not working out for us, the consumer. We are being given the run around and they are running our very worthless warranty out and have yet to get us a product that works.

Review: I have contact this compny twice abouta non-working table. I have copies of 2 chats one of which they said never existed. I would like to exhange the tablet because it won't boot up, unrecognizable to my computer, it keeps erasing itself, resetting itself, and I can't work on it. I saved all the chats on my computer. I would just like to have a replacement. I really liked the tablet.Desired Settlement: Either the tablet can be replaced or I can have a refund.

Review: I called them to get my tablet replaced and they said that they would sent one right out two weeks latter I called again and the said that we had to send the old one but I told them I did not trust them to send the new one out when they got the old one so they told me that they would put a doller hold on my card and send one out with in two weeks and it had been two weeks and I still did not get it and I called them again and they said that they sent it out and I got the tracking number and they did not send itDesired Settlement: I would like to get the replacement for my tablet

Review: Bought Polaroid cell phone in August 2015 through [redacted]. Polaroid keeps giving me the run around. People I have spoken to tell me the phone sounds blurry and distorted. I have repeatedly called Polaroid (Southern Telecom) and I get the run around with being asked to do a hard reset to phone (which will cause me to loose all of my contacts). This is not acceptable. Cannot get them to honor the warranty that is suppose to have came with my phone. This is not acceptable means of fixing the problem with the phone.Desired Settlement: I would like the phone replaced with a new phone, not refurbished.

Review: I purchased a polaroid tablet which does not work properly. When I am using any of the applications such as viewing movies using the internet and browser along with WiFi and games. While in the middle of using these things they stop and I get error messages. I have contacted customer service and they have not done anything to resolve my problem and have not contacted me either.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund I do not trust the product they sell to consumers

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased a Polaroid tablet & it was defective. Southern Telecom told me to send it back at a cost $35.00 & they would replace it. It took 5 weeks to receive the replacement & it's defective also. They refused to send me a label to send back at their expense or to refund my money. It's now going to cost me another $35.00 to send it back. I was informed that if I lived in the U.S. it wouldn't cost me to return the defective tablet. That doesn't make any sense, it makes me believe they are not standing behind their product. What difference does it make where I live, I paid for the device in good faith & it's a manufacturer defect. Why should it cost me to get it replaced? Southern Telecom's business policies & procedures are questionable at best. Was I truly speaking to someone in Brooklyn? Or was it in [redacted]? No one I spoke to didn't have an accent. They were truly hard to understand.Desired Settlement: After all the trouble & expense for getting a device that actually works, I would like the money replaced on my debit card & will purchase a device by a manufacturer who actually stands behind their product & doesn't charge the customer if any repairs/replacement are required.

Review: Recently purchased a Slick MP418C-4 Music & Video Player along with an extended warranty. When I got the product home I charged it as directed in the manual. Upon charge completion the unit does not stay powered on. I contacted Southern Telecom 5 times since and have had no reply. The first contact was on the day of purchase which was 12/**/2014 and was given a support ticket number [redacted]. I have tried to call several times and no one ever answers.Desired Settlement: Full replacement under warranty ASAP.

Review: I received a broken product. An actionCam EV355. I have sent several emails, with automated replies and no resolution to the problem. I tried to call three times. I waited over 30 minutes on every attempt. No one ever answered the phone.Desired Settlement: Please send me a replacement Waterproof Housing for the ActionCam EV355.

Review: I purchased 2 polaroid tablets back in July 2014 and after 5-6 weeks the product stopped working. I called the customer service line and was told I had to send the tablets so they can service them. After 2 weeks I contacted them because I had not heard from them and I was told the box had not been opened and that they would make note of it. I didn't receive the replacement tablets till 2 or more weeks later. I had to called back because the tablets were all scratched up. They sent me a pre paid package so I could send the tablets back and before I had to send them the tablets stopped working just like my 1st ones. I just received my 3rd replacement yesterday and one of them already stopped working today. I've been asking for my money back, but the company policy is just for me to get replacements. This is very upsetting because it's a very bad product that the most it's lasted me is a month and a half or so. I bought brand new tablets and they keep replacing them with used refurbished tablets.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of $178.05 and the $5.25 of shipping of the 1st tablets.

Consumer

Response:

At this time, my complaint, ID [redacted] regarding Southern Telecom has been resolved. They are sending another device (tablet) and I was able to find the problem. The chargers that came with the tablet somehow stopped working and were over charging the tablets. I'm using my own charger and the issue stopped. I should be recieving a replacement tablet this week. I'm still not happy with the fact that their policy is to replace new tablets with used refurbished ones, but we get what we pay for, lesson learned.

Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: I got the AR+2001 Soundbar speaker system for my house. It worked for a few weeks and now it consistently disconnects from whatever audio source it is using within 2-5 miuntes. It rarely gets through a single song before disconnecting making the entire system completely useless. This product should not be on the market and should not be sold to the public.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund for this product.
