Southwest Title Loans Reviews (44)

Review: I took out a title loan in January 2014 for $3000, and they set my payments up at $390/month. What was not fully explained was that this loan is an "interest" only loan. There is no way that I can afford to make payments over the $390 a month to bring down the principal. I've had title loans before from check into cash and have always had the monthly payment include interest and knock down the principal as well. I chose southwest title because there was one near the house where I moved to and was convenient for me. Had I known about the "interest" only portion, I would have not agreed to these terms because this is a HIGH payment with no end in sight and this loan is now hurting my family financially and I'm extremely upset about the situation. I even complained to a customer service representative and she said that she would email a supervisor to see if there was anything else they can do to help me, (now this was a couple of months ago in may 2014, and I have not received one email or call regarding my complaint. This is a bogus trap for people and I would deter anyone looking for some financial help to go elsewhere. I just wish I would've known since I have had this loan for 6 months now, and at any other title loan place, my loan would've been half over with, but I have spent too much with no result but agony now. As mentioned, I have had other title loans in the past, where the payment included interest and principal reduction and thought Southwest Title observed the same conditions like everyone else.Desired Settlement: I wish to have what I have paid already to go towards principal. Something needs to happen, payments lowered, principal lowered, just something. As mentioned, I would not have agreed to terms if I had known about the conditions of the loan.

Review: Let me start with me and my husband and my layer having been trying to get a issue resolved. We had a title loan from them and we filed chapter 7 bk and it was discharged and they won’t release our title to our truck. My lawyer and my husband have made attempts to contact them and my lawyer said they won’t return her calls. I need this title so I can sell the truck asap. I have enclosed my discharge papers and would like your help to get this issue resolved. The papers will show the debt is discharged and I’m entitled the title release.Desired Settlement: Please help.

Review: Back in November 2013 I paid off a lien against my 2000 Ford Taurus with a company called [redacted]. The problem is that sometime thereafter that company was purchased or changed to Southwest Title loans and I did not realize that my lien had never been taken off after I paid off loan. I was in an accident back in October of 2014 which totaled the car and when I went to get a salvage title for the vehicle I was told there is a lien holder on there. I then back tracked and contacted Southwest title loans to remove the lien and they confirmed the loan was paid and provided me with a letter of release for the lien. The [redacted] will not accept this as it's state law that if the lien was placed electronically then it needs to be removed the same way. I went back to Southwest and requested they remove the lien electronically which they told me would be done. I went back to the [redacted] over a week later to find it wasn't done and this is where my frustration really begins.

Long story short...
I have an email chain with at least 5 different Southwest employees all telling me they can do NOTHING for me.
They tell me that the old system is a different software than what they use for Southwest and it's basicvally in read-only mode now. They tell me they can confirm it's paid but cannot release it because they don't have the proper rights.
It has been escalated to a number of others in the company all of which provide to solution. A good portion of the emails on the chain are not even valid anymore and I've been dealing with this since 10/2014.
I have a car in a salvage yard that I cannot get a salvage title for and a VERY patient salvage owner who is waiting for this to be resolved so I can sell him the car.
I am at my wits end with this utter lack of service on Southwest's part in resolving this for me and I'm stuck in limbo with a car I can't do anything with.

I can provide the entire correspondence upon request that proves this entire claim and ALL THAT I WANT is for them to do the right thing and get SOMEONE who can release this lien on my vehicle so I can move on with my life. All this for a loan that I paid off in less than 30 days because I needed the money... It's absolutely ridiculous.Desired Settlement: I want them to remove the lien on my 2000 Ford Taurus electronically so that I can get a salvage title for my vehicle and sell it to a scrap yard. Written release will not work since the [redacted] requires liens to be electronically removed if they were electronically placed there in the first place. The company has already provided me something in writing but the [redacted] has denied the letter.
