Stevens Moving & Storage Reviews (%countItem)

We moved from Nevada to North Carolina and had excellent, professional and friendly team members at both ends of our moved. I would highly recommend Stevens moving company and would use them again in a future move.

As always please feel free to reach out to our customer service team if you have any questions or concerns. We hope you're enjoying your new home - Stevens Worldwide Van Lines.

We had a great experience with Stevens Worldwide Van Lines and Anchor Movers. The driver and loaders were all professional and experienced. Our belongings arrived inter-state on the agreed upon date as promised. All items were checked off upon arrival and received. Once again the driver and unloaders were all professional and experienced. As an added bonus, the weight came in less than projected so we saved money. The experience couldn’t have been better.

If you ever need a cross country mover DO NOT call Stevens Worldwide. I just had the worst move experience of my life. Items lost, broken, poorly packed (such as furnished furniture parts packed in the same box as the garden tools). They took everything apart (I had to put it all back together), and they even destroyed our new BBQ. Then we were over charged for extra boxes. This included things like packing one hat in one box, a bucket in another and lo and behold we have extra boxes! When we complained, the CEO HERSELF told us that she would make it right. We NEVER heard back from her. Then they basically denied our claims. Not even an apology. They were kind enough to send me an order form for replacement parts for our infrared fryer. They were rude, incompetent (they packed their lunch wrappers and orange peels in our drawers!), and wouldn’t know customer service if it hit them on the head. I’ve used most of the major carriers over the years and this one was the worst one ever. Just shockingly poor service. How do they even stay in business?

On behalf of Stevens Van Lines, I wish to extend our apology for any dissatisfaction Ms. McCoy experienced during her move with us. A review of her claim however confirms that it was settled correctly under the Carmack Amendment which governs interstate transportation. I also checked with our accounting department and do not find that we charged Ms. McCoy for any additional boxes. We did waive the $175.00 debris pick up fee as directed by our CEO; Lindsay Stevens. I hope this reply resolves Ms. McCoy's Revdex.com complaint satisfactorily.

I hired this company to move me because I thought they were reputable and local.Come to find out they are neither. They delivered my items on two different delivery dates.Their was approximately 15000 pounds of items delivered. We still have not gone through all of the boxes. But I did look through all of the items for an ice chest full of vegetable and flower seeds over and over again.I kept calling my mover and he said he would keep looking. Finally he admitted they had lost them.Their were over $500 in seeds.I have planted seeds every summer for over 30 years. This year I did not because I kept thinking they would find my seeds!!!!
On June 22nd,2018 the third delivery truck came and at the end of the delivery the head man showed me a destroyed picture. He also admitted the worker that destroyed it had been fired.
This company says they are not responsible for these losses. That is absurd!!!!
I did not sign off on missing items or the broken picture.
Their were also smaller items broken which I am not claiming.Their also were some very nice ceramic pots put inside each other.I had to put water between the pots to break them lose. Not very professional movers.
I,ve heard horror stories about movers for years. I guess they are all true.

We have received the Revdex.com complaint filed by *** under the complaint ID of ***.
On behalf of Stevens Worldwide Van Lines we apologize for any dissatisfaction Mr. may have experience with his recent relocation.
We have review the claim and file and find as follows:
One 5/31/18, we delivered Mr.’s belongs to his residence in ***, OR. The inventories Mr. signed give a warning above the signature line in bold red letters that states “WARNING before signing check shipment, count items and describe loss or damage in space on the right above.” The signed Uniform Household Goods Bill of Lading & Freight Bill which states in the delivery acknowledgement that the “all goods were received in good condition except as noted on the inventory and services ordered were performed”. There was no notation for any missing items at the time of delivery.
On 9/7/18, which is 92 days after delivery and these items leaving our care, custody and control, a claim was submitted for the missing rolling chest. Mr. provided inventory #*** on his Cargo Claim Form, however, that inventory number is listed on the descriptive inventory as a lamp. As a rolling chest does not have any resemblance to a lamp, and no rolling chest can be found on the inventory, we have no proof that this claimed missing item was tendered to us with Mr.’s shipment. A trace was performed for this missing item, even though we have no evidence that this item was tendered to us for shipment or that it is missing due to our handling. However, we were unable to locate this item.
Mr. has not provided us with any information to show that this item was part of his shipment, or that it is missing due to our handling. There were no notations made at the time of delivery to prove that this item went missing during our handling. All documents were signed and acknowledged stating that all items were received and in apparent good condition.
We must respectfully maintain our denial of liability, as we have no proof that this item was tendered to us or went missing during our handling. No notations were made at delivery that these items were not received by Mr..
Again, we apologize for any dissatisfaction Mr. may have experienced and trust this response will able you to close this matter in regards to Stevens.

Regards,
As I previously stated when the movers delivered the first two trucks of my items there was no way that I would have known if all of my items were delivered.Several times I went through the boxes over the next several weeks lookimg for my ice chest with my seeds in it.I never found itI called my movers several times and they said they would look for it.They never found it.When the third truck delivered my last items on June 22nd the top mover man apologized for his worker breaking my picture. If this company denies this they are liars!!!!!!

As far as releaseing liability upon delivery that is absurd!!!We are still going through boxes!!!

This is a typical case of slimy movers taking no resposibilty for poor work.Shame on them!!!!

It appears the only steps left are legal.

Stevens is the single worst business i've ever dealt with. we had some serious damage to both moving boxes and furniture with a dollar estimate of $5500+. we thought we bought moving insurance( actually called valuation) and found out we actually have to negotiate with the very company that moved our goods. stevens is hiding behind the Carmack rule tha basically says if you pack it you lose. we have proved multiple photos of before and after with no result. we will be filing for arbitration. my advice don't usa this company under any circumstances and buy your own moving insurance

Stevens Worldwide Van Lines

Stevens lost our entire household for a week. Did not answer calls or emails. Apparently the shipment cleared customs and they did not do anything afterwards (they were supposed to transfer it from Cleveland to Pittsburgh). Then they claimed that the origin agent indicated that the shipment terminated in Cleveland rather than Pittsburgh, which is completely false (all of origin agent's documentation say Pittsburgh). No apology from Stevens, no attempt to remedy the situation. Just curt, rude emails telling us how things are going to go and blaming everyone else. And here we have an entire family forced to sleep on the bare floor for an entire week due to this. At least they could be respectable and apologize for causing all of this, or make some kind of effort to rush it. When I pointed out that an apology would be nice, their response was: "Noted." Unbelievably rude! We have yet to even see if they will provide the full-service moving and furniture assembly that we paid for, or if our household items are OK.

I recently moved from Charlotte, NC to Irvine, CA with Stevens Van Lines. The move coordination was completely unorganized. The packers, craters, and movers had all been given the wrong information as to where to go (wrong address), when to arrive (wrong dates/times), and what to bring (wrong/absent materials). When they were eventually scrambled in after dozens of phone calls (as that's how long it took to reach Stevens), they all argued inside of my apartment as to who was going to do what part of the job (mattresses, mirrors, glass, TVs, etc.) No one was taking responsibility. On top of it, the Stevens' move coordinator was unreachable during this entire debacle when they were needed most. Many services in the signed contract were not completed (e.g. the mirrors and glass table top never got crated, and there was haphazard packing of many items with improper makeshift materials.)

I received my shipment in Irvine and numerous items were damaged or plain missing, which Stevens has still not resolved. Additionally, the movers who disassembled the majority of my furniture in Charlotte would not reassemble it in Irvine (part of the agreed contract.) The movers said that a third party would need to come and that this was to be arranged by the move coordinator, and that I would receive a call the next day. I heard nothing for 6 days, despite again dozens of calls and messages from me daily. I ended up unpacking everything myself. To this date it still takes dozens of phone calls (no one ever calls back) and emails to reach anyone at Stevens, and they still charged for everything despite not completing half the services. Their attempt to adjust the bill was inaccurate and there has been very little communication from anyone at Stevens during this whole process. Very unprofessional to be this inaccessible, especially for issues. I receive 1 cursory email for every 20 calls/emails I place.

Working with Stevens worldwide Van lines has been a horrible experience. They greatly and purposefully misled me with a lower estimate then overcharged me more then $1,000. They Forced me to buy their own boxes on moving day and would not allow me to use my own boxes that I already packed up with my belongings. They charged me for additional packing I already completed. They said if I move my gym weights and water bottles myself (less weight) that it would offset the additional expense which was a lie when the bill came. They damaged furniture and the moving crew Forman was rude to myself and his team. They would not negotiate the higher charges. Never use this company. Horrible and unprofessional.

Stevens Moving & Storage Response • Aug 31, 2018

We understand that moving can be stressful and are sorry for any frustration this process may have caused our customer. In response to the customers concerns with the final cost of his move; the carrier suggested some additional packing be performed in order to ensure the goods were properly protected during the move. Mr. signed an addendum agreeing to have these additional services performed and the charges added to his invoice. The final bill did go through an audit and the customer was only charged for services agreed to by the customer and performed by the carrier and only for the weight of the items the carrier shipped. As it has been confirmed that charges were accurate, we are unable to offer the customer a refund. In addition, although the customer mentions damages in the Revdex.com complaint, no claim was ever filed with the carrier.

We hope this explanation along with the email sent to the customer by our accounting department regarding his billing concerns clears up any issues the customer had with the final cost of his move.

Denial of *** for items that were LOST, damaged and possibly vandalized. An item was actually lost, and since it was never delivered - we were told it never existed. Expensive wood turned dining chair was destroyed (two legs broken off) and we were told this is a "vice" of the item which translates to 'that happens'. Many damaged items... Very talented *** adjusters have just the right way to avoid paying out. Extremely dishonest company without regard to quality of service or their customers. It seems that they must give a bonus for every claim that is denied. ***@stevensworldwide.com

We have received the Revdex.com complaint filed by *** under complaint ID of ***.

On behalf of Stevens Worldwide Van Lines we apologize for any dissatisfaction Mr. may have experienced with her recent relocation. We have reviewed the claim file and find as follows:
On 05/20/18, we delivered Mr.’s belongings to his residence in Rhinelander, WI. The inventories Mr. signed give a warning above the signature line in bold red letters that states “WARNING before signing check shipment, count item and describe loss or damage in space on the right above.” Mr. also signed in the delivery acknowledgement section of the Uniform Household Goods Bill of Lading & Freight Bill acknowledging that the “shipment was received in apparent good condition except as noted on the inventory and services ordered were performed.” There were no written notations made for any loss or damage at delivery.
On 06/21/18, which was 32 days after these items left our care, custody and control, a claim was submitted. We processed the claim and accepted liability for all concealed damage claimed and for one item that the delivery driver acknowledged was damaged during transit. The remaining items were denied as the customer did not meet the following elements under the Carmack Amendment (regulation that governs Interstate relocations); 1) tender of the item for shipment or 2) evidence that the item arrived at destination in a damaged condition. We have provided Mr. with an arbitration brochure in the event he wishes to pursue this matter further through the arbitration process.

Again, we apologize for any dissatisfaction Mr. may have experienced and trust this response will able to you to close this matter in regards to Stevens.

I’ve been in the military for 10 years now and this company has by far treated my family and I the worst of any moving company we have ever had. If begging your neighbors to help finish Steven’s job for them at 11:30pm is your idea of good customer service, then you are a disgusting company that doesn’t deserve to handle our nation’s military moves. We had to get a Uhaul truck to finish loading the house since they apparently cannot correctly send the right size trucks that aren’t already half full of other peoples stuff. I have still yet to get a call from them a week later with any sort of apology or attempt to remedy the extra stress and hassle they have caused my family and I during our most recent military move. Their level of incompetence and lack of concern for other humans beings exceeds anything I have ever seen. I really hope the DOD drops these deadbeats like a rock.

I was charged an extra $3000 because they estimated the weight incorrectly. I got the bad news three weeks after the move. At that point you can't reconsider or go with another vendor They have all your possessions and you have to pay whatever they say. Basically a ransom payment.

Make sure and get a guarantee of price BEFORE entering into a moving contract.

I contracted a cross country move with Stevens Van Lines. My furniture was picked up over a month ago (on 7/6) and is still yet to be delivered. My contract final delivery date was 8/1. A few days prior to delivery, I was informed that my furniture would not be delivered at that time. I was given a new confirmed date on 8/7 however on 8/6 was told my furniture would not be arriving on 8/7. I have no further future confirmed date and have been given no explanation by Stevens Van lines as to why the delay and where my furniture currently is. I have emailed, called, left multiple voice meaaages however have not received any response from Stevens Van Lines.

Packers destroyed my kids assembled lego sets that were on display. They threw them into the same box so multiple sets are in pieces and now combined. It was a total disregard for our collection. I was rejected for any form of compensation for their inability to do the job they were hired to do.

We received an email from Mr. on 7/27/18 in regards to his dissatisfaction with his claims settlement. We are in the process of reviewing his file and will reply to Mr. as soon as possible to address the concerns he has outlined.

Contracted to move our home items across the country. They missed the pick up date, missed delivery date, both dates were set by them. Many items damaged multiple items missing. I followed their steps to report the loss and damage. A few days later I received a call from the driver stating that they found many of the missing items. He wanted me to rent a van and meet him at a truck stop to pick them up. I refused and told him he needed to deliver the items to the contracted address.. He agreed to a date and told me he would call with a time. He called with a estimated time, but never showed up. I called him but have yet to get an answer back.

Stevens Moving & Storage Response • Jul 05, 2018

On behalf of Stevens Van Lines, please note that we do strive for great customer service and wish to extend our apologies to Mr. for failing to meeting our goal during his relocation. We do see that he filed a claim for loss and damage on 6/26/18. Stevens claims department has been working with Stevens operations department to arrange delivery as quickly as possible of several items belonging to Mr. that the driver found in his trailer after he had already left Mr. residence. We will provide Mr. with an update on the delivery of those items as updates become available to us. In regards to the damaged items, Mr. claim has been assigned to a claims adjuster who is reviewing his file and gathering all necessary shipment documentation in order to process the claim. If Mr. has any questions, he may reach out to our claims department at . Thank you.

Moved from NY to Storage in CT. The company I hired was ***. To leave storage and to move to Florida all of my belongings were put on Stevens Worldwide Van Lines, Inc. truck. My Belongings arrived sometime later and delivery of over 500 boxes and Furniture items arrived with 5 men who didn't handle things with care. Forced to sign off on delivery or my items would not be left with me, I signed although I did not have time or strength to open most things to examine for damage. I was told by movers I had 90 days to file complaint. I filed a complaint and was denied because I did not write on their paperwork everything that was damaged or that did not arrive. I just wanted damage items repaired and a few broken items replaced. Wrote a rebuttal with extra information but was denied again. What they asked of an old lady alone like me was impossible and they new that. There was NO WAY I could open all of the things delivered while 5 men stood around in my tw0 bedroom apartment with boxes reaching the ceilings in each room and space. I just want a reasonable settlement so I can fix damages, replace broken and lost hardware items and have items assembled where they lost hardware.
Thank you

Stevens Moving & Storage Response • Jul 03, 2018

On behalf of Stevens Van Lines, I am sorry to hear Ms. is not satisfied with the settlement of her claim or our response to her rebuttal of our settlement. According to our file, Ms. claim was settled correctly under the rules outlined in the Carmack Amendment. The Carmack Amendment is the law that spells out the rights, duties and responsibilities of the customer and the motor carrier when it comes to cargo claims. In our last correspondence to Ms. we did let her that if she felt our settlement was incorrect, she has the option to file for arbitration and we provided her the AMSA arbitration brochure at that time.

We are contracted to begin a corporate move tomorrow. I had not been contacted regarding arrival time or anything. Over the past 2 weeks, I had emailed my Coordinator. I received a reply to the first email after 2 days, I never received a reply to the response that was sent 6 days ago. I called today to get info & a(Sr Coordinator) informed me that she was surprised my move didn't pop up in her todo list for today, which is why I didn't get a call, but I was scheduled for tomorrow. After getting some info, she called the driver to get the arrival Time but I was disconnected after several minutes while waiting onhold while she contacted him. I waited 20 min for a return call but was sent directly to voicemail. I waited another 15 min and called again, still getting voicemail, I left a msg asking for a return call that I needed the information. Approximately 30 min , called me. It was 5 min to 5 (they close at 5, I wasn't aware at the time) when Karen informed me that the driver was in GA & had a broken alternator that needed to be fixed. She said he would not arrive until Friday. She also said they would work through the weekend & would also need an extra day for packing, because it was a large move and they didn't expect to load the truck until at least Sunday. I explained that this was not ok. They had someone come to survey- with that, they planned for one day pack and one to load. Our lease is up, we have a hotel booked till Sunday morning, and a flight at 7am Sunday. We also have scheduled a move out cleaning and meeting with property manager to do the final walk through on Saturday. She told me that was too bad this is all they can do. I said no! Let me speak to someone else. She sent me to Lisa, who said, I understand there is a delaly, see what we can do. When I explained that it was more than a delay, she said maybe they could get extra packers, but that the alternator was fixed. I said it's after 5 but I need to know what is happening tonight. At 10pm we have no word

Our local, Kansas City area affiliate was super accommodating and friendly. The first red flag should have been that the representative did not return our phone calls as the move date approached and we had already signed a contract.
On move day:
Showed up late.
The movers were impatient, very hurried and brusk.
Reason for most of the damage; almost none of the pieces were blanket wrapped or otherwise covered. They carried everything down a flight of stairs (unprotected) and placed items out on the driveway before loading in the truck.
Our neighbor told us that the movers dropped outdoor furniture off the roof-top deck, we guess so they wouldn't have to carry it down the stairs!
We were given an arrival date in California. No show. When called, the dispatcher was extremely rude and stated that: "I don't know if the truck broke down or the driver had a break down." (You can't make this up!)
The unloading was a bit better in that the California movers were more professional and careful. But, rushed and the head driver wanted us to sign all the paperwork very quickly, before the furniture was even in the house. (Beware, do not sign anything until you have examined every piece of furniture and box even if the mover demands it.)
We had purchased extra insurance through Stevens, (at a very high rate.) Our claims for damage were met with:
- Delay, delay, delay.
- They claimed that our furniture had been previously damaged which is not true.
- Stated on several pieces that damages were minimal and would not affect the use. (Broken chair or sofa back, missing legs and deep gouges are not minimal!)
- For pieces that they would acknowledge had been damaged by their negligence, extremely low reimbursement was offered.
Stevens Worldwide Van Lines turned our move into a nightmare.

Stevens Moving & Storage Response • Jun 26, 2018

On behalf of Stevens Van Lines, we are sorry to hear our customer is unhappy with the settlement of their claim. We are reaching out to the customer today to see if we can reach an amicable solution to their concerns.

The company’s driver of a moving van took out two large tree limbs with the side of the truck By driving up on the curb. After doing so the tree limbs fell and damaged a street sign that is on the corner of my yard. After contacting the company‘s corporate risk manager ***, I was told it was not the company’s fault and was treated very rudely and they tried to pass the buck in regards to having someone come out and correct the problem. In the five years I’ve lived here there has never been any issues with any large vehicles i.e. garbage trucks, school buses, FedEx or UPS trucks hitting this tree or street sign. The driver drove of, he and the company refused to take accountability for it and left me to deal with the removal of it.

Customer Response • Jun 21, 2018

Provided or two pictures of the damage to the tree curb and street sign.Tell us why here...

Stevens Moving & Storage Response • Jun 22, 2018

Mr. called on 6/19/18 and spoke with our Director, Risk Management-*** stating our agent's trailer damaged a tree limb and he wanted us to send out a crew to treat the tree and clean up the wood. Mr. advised Mr. that he would investigate the matter and get back to him. The agent driver stated he did break a tree limb however it was hanging over the road and it was unavoidable while driving down the street. Mr. called Mr. back and informed him of the information provided to him by the agent driver but that Mr. could send in an estimate for the work along with a property damage claim form and we would look into this further. Mr. followed up the verbal conversation with an email and Mr. was emailed a property damage claim form to fill out and send back with an estimate. We have not received the claim form or estimate from Mr. as of this date.

Stevens Van line did a great job! Scott Ginzler, and his crew loaded, unloaded, and protected my boxes and furniture with great care. It was picked up on time, delivered on time. I was very worried about my "stuff" but Scott did his best to put my mind at ease. I highly recommend Stevens Van Lines!!
