Storage Post Reviews (29)

Review: I am disabled. I have a form of arthritis called Lupus. I am on a very ltd budgety. My things Went into storage, when I was put in the hosp late Mar 2012(2 hrs)after left for hosp. I was up[ to date on rent. LL put my belongings in storage post w/o permission. When left hosp, had to put storage in my name and pay LLs lg sum for moving my belongings. Moved to room , couldn't bring them !. Was LL legally allowed to do that then chg large sum to retrieve my own belongings? Also (current)since been customer, change amount of payment, some managers say as long as postmarked w/i 5days, then tell this very nasty rude employee, says it never happened, [redacted] claims never said it. Summer of 2013 had to put belongings back into storage, taking lgr room thru then [redacted] no longer affiliated w/co. Then they put ins on, take it off. When [redacted] moved my sm. to lgr.locker &had to throw away several items, inc my bed which had dead rats on it. He told me it would be taken care of, then the took my ins off. They never paid for damaged goods. Just got out of hosp mid Aug**, movers were too lazy to add to lgr, opened new unit day released hosp, if had to combine with other unit movers would chg much more than had, forced to get unit#2. They keep changing bill date & 1 mo have to pay ins on 1 unit, no unit or both. They keep chg monies. At times I pay bill, get call, text, email...I owe enormous late fees b/c ins not paid. They have no trash bin to throw out fetid belongings, you have to take it all (and was told) dump it on side of road. I am not going to take it all if I find future rats, and want what they owe me for what was destroyed, while under policy. THESE PEOPLE ARE [redacted], CON ARTISTS, ILLEGALLY DO NOT HAVE TRASH BIN, KNOWING THEY HAVE RATS. YOU HAVE TO PUT RATS IN A VEHICLE? THAT'S CALLED CONTAMINATION. I WILL NOT, NOR SHOULD ANY ONE HAVE TO CARRY RATS WITH THEIR DESTROYED STORAGE & NOT BE ABLE TO SEPERATE VERMIN & AND MERCH/STORAGE WITH VERMIN ATTACHED OR SQUISHED LIKE INTO MY BED. WANT TO BE REIMBURSED!Desired Settlement: Stop changing amount of bill! And reimburse/replace all items that had to be thrown away by past rats, I was suppose to be reimbursed. New Sealy's Postupedic bed. Books, clothes, memorabilia.Haven't seen a dime OR credit. Take $10 off my acct. Had $10 ins on unit rats destroyed property. When it became UNIT$213 hey took ins off. UNIT$152. No ins! TXT ME,OWE THEM XTRA $208 & $25! [redacted] said no ins mid Mar 2014,say never said it. STOP LIES/XTRA FEE/I HAVE NOT BEEN REIMBURSED ME SINCE SUMMER 2013!

Response:

Dear [redacted],

We do our very best to ensure every storage facility is well-maintained and operated with the highest standards. Your experience is important to us.

We would like to follow up with you to discuss your listed concerns, but need to gather some more details from you. Please contact [redacted], at ###-###-####, extension [redacted] for direct assistance in addressing your concerns about protection plan coverage on your account.

Sincerely,

Review: Having previously taken a space in this facility - and despite there being issues getting what I reserved that were largely but not completely addressed (see below) - I reserved a 5' x 5' unit in this facility and went to there to complete the transaction that day.

I told the manager that I had a reservation. He acknowledged this and showed me a unit. I then was given papers to sign. We never discussed nor reviewed the rate and I presumed that as I had informed him of the reservation that he was working from that. The facility offered both lockers (4'height - 100 cu ft) and units (approx 8' height - 200 cu ft). I selected a UNIT and 'locked in' the rate by booking through [redacted]. The reservation was followed up on telephonically by Storage Post directly and they confirmed via email that it was for a 5' x 5' x 8' UNIT (200 cu ft) at the rate of $30 monthly. The unit I was assigned to has a rate of $73 monthly.

I have returned no fewer than 5 times to the facility to correct this. No attempt at resolving the issue has been made other than offering me a locker (100 cu ft) which is half the size for 10% less. No other units or rates offered. I have followed up with the main office (reservation line) no fewer than 4 times now both telephonically and via email. I was told that the district manager would follow up directly. This has never happened.

The first unit that I reserved (on June **) was meant to have been on the first floor and was a 10' x 10' unit. Upon arrival in that case I was advised it was unavailable. As I had my stuff with me and had noplace else to put it and had incurred the expense of renting vehicle I was compelled to take a smaller unit temporarily until a 6th Floor unit was available. When I returned I was only afforded the option of a 10' x 10' mezzanine unit with a large obstruction in it (approx 4' x 3') making the 100 sq ft space ony about 88 sq ft (800 cubic feet reduced by obstruction to 704 cu ft). No mention of such an obstruction mandatorily being part of the unit was made. I have asked to be moved to the adjacent unit - also on the mezzanine. To do so the facility wants to charge an additional $100 monthly plus transfer fee of $20.Desired Settlement: I would like either the adjacent unit to my existing one which has no obstruction or the originally offered first floor unit as offered (no obstruction) without a transfer fee.

I would like any late fees on the 5' x 5' unit removed as I have withheld paying the first due invoice pending resolution of this issue they are choosing to ignore.

I would like my monthly rate on the 5' x 5' unit adjusted to the offered and reserved and confirmed rate of $30 or for the facility to offer other remedy not to exceed the accepted and confirmed rate nor to be any smaller than the offered and accepted and confirmed 5' x 5' x 8' (200 cu ft) space. I would possibly accept a unit of half the size if it were half the price ($15).

In all other ways I am pleased with the facility and staff. I am only complaining as the offered rate was confirmed in writing by STORAGE POST and they refuse to honor this.

Response:

We have carefully reviewed [redacted]’s account to better understand his concerns. For clarity, we have separated the complaints into two response sections.

Concern regarding 5’ x 5’ unit:

We understand that in August 2014 [redacted] inquired about a 5’ x 5’ unit through [redacted], a third-party vendor, not through Storage Post directly. He was quoted a $30 monthly rate at our [redacted] store. Unfortunately, Storage Post has only limited control over how [redacted] markets or describes our units, and in this case the height of the unit was not listed on [redacted]’s website. We continuously work with [redacted] to ensure it describes our units as accurately as possible.

We understand that it was frustrating for [redacted] to discover that the unit he reserved was a shorter unit (5’ x 5’ x 4’) rather than a taller unit (5’ x 5’ x 8’). However, before [redacted] signed the rental agreement, our notes indicate he received a tour of both the shorter and taller units. He then indicated that he would prefer the taller unit rather than shorter unit chosen in his [redacted] reservation.

Because [redacted] is a loyal customer, we agree to waive the late fees assessed on his account for unit [redacted] up to today, as long as the account is made current at the time of fee waiver. We are unable to reduce rent on the 5’ x 5’ x 8’ unit to $30. Again, we are unable to fully control how [redacted] describes our units and regret that this misunderstanding occurred. Our staff showed [redacted] both types of units before he signed the rental agreement. With that being said, [redacted] mentioned that as an alternative he would take a shorter unit for $15. As a gesture of goodwill, we are willing to concede the $15 per month rate for a shorter 5’ x 5’ x 4’ unit, although the rate will still be subject to standard industry price adjustments over the term of the rental agreement.

Concern regarding 10’ x 10’ unit:

We understand that in June 2014 [redacted] inquired about a first floor 10’ x 10’ unit on [redacted], but when he arrived that unit was no longer available. Our [redacted] store has been undergoing extensive renovations, and part of that has been the addition of several hundred new units. We believe a first floor unit may have been listed as available before it was ready to rent. Again, [redacted] does not guarantee the accuracy of its descriptions, and, while we strive to monitor how our units are displayed in [redacted]’s directory, we are unable to control all of the details of every listing. Monitoring Storage Post listings on [redacted] becomes especially difficult during construction transitions.

While we do our best to accommodate all customer needs during renovation, we understand that the process can be frustrating and we regret that a unit was prematurely listed as available on [redacted]. We believe [redacted]’s resolution request of a transfer to a different 10’ x 10’ unit is reasonable and we agree to waive the transfer fee to make that transition easier. We cannot guarantee that the unit adjacent to [redacted]’s other unit will be available at the time of transfer, but we will work with him to the best of our abilities to ensure he is satisfied with the location.

We hope these concessions clear up the situations brought on by [redacted] and ongoing renovations at our [redacted] store.

Sincerely,

Storage Post

Storage post [redacted] they want to charge u etc but last month I noticed roaches..now everytime I go to my unit and they havent done anything I did make them aware. What can I do re my rights.

Review: I have been a customer for Storage Post for almost two years, in that time period I was never charged late fees on the insurance I have for my belongings. The previous manager left and now I am being charge late fees for my insurance. I received two late fees one in December and another in January *. This week I received a text message stating they were placing my belonging on a Lien and Foreclosure notice. My rent is due every **. I do not understand how they are billing me if my rent for December has been paid and they just billed me today for JANUARY. This company's billing practices are horrible. they are such crooks. I am requesting your help on this matter.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate your assistance with this company, they over charge people. That should be ilegal

Review: I purchased a moving kit from Storage Post 1 week ago. [redacted] helped me pick out the moving kit and some other supplies. I asked how Storage Post's prices compared to other moving supply places and he told me their prices were comparable, well I should have shopped around first because Home Depot had moving boxes for a lower price. [redacted] did mention in pasting that they didn't offer refunds but for some reason I didn't pay much attention then. The next day I saw that Home Depot's moving supplies were cheaper and I planned to take the Storage Post boxes back. I checked my receipt and it stated, "...Shop worry-free with our 100% refund! Simply bring in your un-used or unopened items within 30 days with the original receipt". A week later I head back to Storage Post and through the glass doors I see a worker at the desk. He sees me carrying supplies and has a puzzled look on his face. I tell [redacted] who is at the desk that I'd like to return some supplies and he tells me he's never handled a return. He says that he can put credit to my storage unit. Since I don't have a storage unit at Storage Post I told him I would just like a refund. He says he doesn't know how to do a refund, he doesn't know what that code is. I asked if there was anyone else there who could handle a refund and he says no. And the person who could do it, [redacted] ,would not be in until [redacted]. I work[redacted] so getting there on Tuesday [redacted] would not work.Desired Settlement: I would like Storage Post to honor their stated 100% refund policy for unused items.

Review: I contacted [redacted] from Storage Post on Wednesday, June **, 2013 and told him that I wanted to transfer from a small unit I had rented (with one month free). [redacted] told me that there would be no problems transferring and I would not have to pay any additional fees. In fact, I would not be charged for the new unit until July because I was within the one month free period. He gave a qoute of $184 for a 10' X 7.5' unit. He told me to come into the office the next day after 2pm because they were having a big auction. On Thursday I came into the office and spoke with [redacted]. He suggested I come back on Friday because he would have more rooms available. On Friday I spoke with both [redacted] and [redacted]. [redacted] stated that the price increased to $196 (which was strange because these room were showing as $184 on the Internet). I could not afford that room [redacted] offered me a smaller room, 5' X 10'. [redacted] assured me that I still had one month free and that I would not be charged until July. I moved my belongings into unit [redacted] on Friday, June **, 2013 and I cleared my belongings from the old unit on the same day. Since Friday the staff has failed to activate my access code and my account incorrectly shows that I owe $78.40. I received an email threatening to charge me a late fee if this balance was not paid. I contacted the office several times, but I still do not have access.Desired Settlement: I want the manager to clear my account to zero balance and activate my access code immediately. I would also like a credit of $50 for my inconvenience.
