Review: Also, Customer Service: inappropriate service by owner or customer service personnel

Service: unauthorized service

Service : unreasonable delay in proper service.

I went here on November 25, 2014 to have my brakes [redacted]e and other services. I understand they were trying to save the customer money, but when they told me certain things needed to be replaced I told them just to do it. Instead of putting in the items I had agreed to( new drums and such), they did other than what I had agreed to. They ( grind-ed down the old drums instead of replacing) The first day the car was in the shop for 6 hours. The brakes still were not fixed correctly ( the brakes were squealing and grinding, the same noise BEFORE I took the car in) I had to go back the next day November 26, 2014 and I waited for the car to be finished, but it was an ALL DAY process.

A brake job SHOULD ONLY be a 2 hour job ..NOT 6-8 hours!!!

On January 5, 2015 My roommate had to bring the car in to have the brakes looked at. Once again it was squealing and grinding. These are supposedly NEW pads but they are still making noise. Had the pads changed to a different brand/ type. Also she wasn't told that a part had to be replaced. On January 6th was called and told the part will be in January 9th. Again on January 9th I had to go in less than a week later to have the brakes looked at. The new part was installed and the brake noise was told was just brake dust. they were washed down and I know that THAT is just a bandage. On January 15th, I took the car back in and NOW after all this time they finally admitted that if they had replace the drums instead of grinding them We wouldn't have to come in like we did.

It is now it is January 26th and once again the brakes are making a grinding noise. Not as loud as before but you can still hear it. So here I am KNOWING this is going to be an all day thing. What is bugging me is not only is it going to be a long day but I know that this place is a first come , first serve but, they are serving other customers AFTER me and making me wait to even have my brakes looked at. Not only that but they are refusing a friend of mine the use of their restroom even though he is with me and I AM A CUSTOMER!!! NO ONE should have to have to keep returning to the same shop just to have the brakes fixed over and over within a month or 2. I am disgusted, fed-up and just want the brakes fixed right the first time around!Desired Settlement: I want my money back on the brake job so I can go somewhere else and have them [redacted]e right or to have them fixed right once and for all.

Customer came in 11-25-2014 with 180000 miles and multiple complaints: we replaced brake pads and rear brake shoes-total cost to customer 169.93 after the 20.00 off coupon.the vehicle came back with noise from "brakes" we warranted the brake pads at no charge to customer01-09-2015 His wife brought veh back again with a noise issue- again we tried to locate the source of the noise- switched brands of friction material again at no charge to customer.01-09-2015 customer has "noise" Manager went for ride with customer - we replaced rear brake drums again at no cost to customer(90.00 cost)I believe customer has a noise issue-Just not from the brake system and is not going to be satisfied with any thing we do. We have went for rides with the customer and the only time a "noise occurs is during braking and the rear suspension is raised during hard braking and a moaning noise from possible rear shock or suspension component is loading or unloading.I have tried multiple times to locate source of the noise-( over 12 hours-plus the parts we have given him)and am unable to duplicate noise with car on the rack.customer requested a refund - I am ok with that provided customer understands that there will be no further warranty/liability to us.total refund will be what customer actually paid-169.93[redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,[redacted]We will accept the refund of $ 169.93, however we are still dissatisfied with Sun Valley Tire and Auto repair. I want to set the record straight. We came on 5 occasions, not 2. Only 3 of the 5 were repeats for the same problem. Owner was extremely arrogant and rude!!• 11/25/2014 and left the car there for over 6 hours. They did the front& back brakes, the tune-up and various other things.• 11/26/2014 we had to return the car to have the brake job finished and that took all day ( 8 hours) just for the back brakes.• 01/5/2015 my girlfriend had the car taken for the same issue the back brakes( the brakes were still squeaking when braking.) She was there from 6:30 am to 10:30am. They replaced the pads with ones that were ceramic.I had called about the car but then they mentioned a part ( a caliper that needed to be replaced and could be the source of the squeak) that needed to ordered but failed to mention it while she was there.• On 1/9/2015 took the car back in to have the part installed and have the brakes checked. They installed the part but, then they watered the brakes down claiming its brake dust. That was just a bandage to the problem.• On 1/15/2015 took the car in and they finally replaced the drums which I had told them to replace in the beginning of this ordeal. If that part was installed in the first place, none of this may not have happened. It was in the shop for 8 hours . They claim it’s hard braking and our suspension. We [redacted]'t hard brake and also we [redacted]'t drive very often so it’s not us. The true problem is failing to complete a brake job properly. After this is settled ,we will never return and we will tell everyone not to go to this business.

Review: On or about July 1, 2015 I had a problem with one cylinder not firing on my [redacted] F-150 2006 pick up truck. I took it to Sun Valley Tire & Auto to have the problem corrected. After leaving truck there I received a phone call saying they had a problem getting old spark plugs out and that they had broken one off. The next day I received another phone call saying they had to order another tool(better one I was told) for removing spark plugs because the one they had was broken. Two or three days later I was told they still could not get the plugs out and that they had to remove the cylinder heads. Then the next day they gave me an estimate of $3,675.33. At this time they did not offer me the option to come get the vehicle and take it to another shop. They told me that they could correct problem,so I agreed to have them repair the problem. After numerous calls day after day, I was told they called the machine shop doing the work on the heads and was told he is pretty busy and that it would take a few days to get to them. After two weeks they received heads back and on 8/7/2015 they said the truck was repaired and that I could come get it. There was a dent in the driver side door that was not there when I dropped it off. After getting estimate to repair, I opted to take the money instead of repair, which they gave ma a check for. The next day I noticed the truck was running rough and called them back and was told to put hi-test gas in it and run it for a week or so and also put in fuel injector cleaner in gas tank, which I did. After a week I took truck back (again)and told them it still was not running right. They told me to go get a diagnostics test done on it which I did and cost me $170 dollars. I then went back to Sun Valley and showed them diagnostic results and was told he did not totally agree with it, but he would look at it. Again I left truck there for about 3 days. I picked up truck and was told the problem was corrected and to drive it for a few days. The next day (again) I took it back an$Desired Settlement: $1810.85 for shoddy work and additional expenses that I had to dish out and not have the problem corrected.

the last I heard from cust- [redacted] had dioag an intake issue-( unrelated to our work) I reimbursed his cost of the inspection-along with paying him for a dent that "Happened while it was here" In dec he was going to take it to [redacted] and let me know what they found- I have not heard back from him until now. Please provide a copy of [redacted] invoice. Customer states we did something wrong-please show me the invoice- If we did- I will take care of it- But I am unwilling to just write a check with out any doc's showing what we did wrong.Tell us why here...

Consumer

Response:

Sun Valley Tire put on parts listed in item one on attachments. They re-used intake gaskets and used silicon sealant which should not be done according to [redacted] Ford. Therefore, I am seeking reimbursement of $568.82 for the cost of items listed on number 1 on [redacted] attached invoice.

Business

Response:

I have the receipt from [redacted] It does not say we did something wrong or incorrect -[redacted] also recommended a new fuel pump and throttle body-Which was not done Mr. [redacted] is a Veteran- I will send him a Check for the 568.82 he is requesting as Goodwill - This will conclude our involvement with his Vehicle.Don

Sun Valley Tire and Team take pride in there job to help the experience go very smoothly. They go way over and beyond to do a great job and find the best prices in town . The customer is always right, they see to it that we are satisfied . They go out of there way to make our community safe on the roads in Prescott and Prescott Valley .I will not take my 4 vehicles to any one else .GREAT JOB Sun Valley Tire,[redacted] and Team.

Bought tires from [redacted] & [redacted] then took my truck in for a clutch which they did an excellent job on. Very good to deal with. Have no problems telling others about them.

The only thing worse that incompetence is lying to excuse it.

I had a 9:00am appt. for new tires (bought through TireBuyer, which is great). At 10:00 I was still waiting so I asked for my keys because I am partially disabled and couldn't stand there waiting any longer. Instead of honoring my request the 'boss' refused and instead had someone bring my car in ahead of when it otherwise would have.

They asked if I wanted nitrogen and I said no. (This is a scam to charge you more. The air is already 78% nitrogen, and every respectable shop uses a moisture trap on their compressed air.)

They changed the tires but did not use a torque wrench. When I got the car home I found they had swapped my factory valve caps for ugly (and cheap) chrome and green caps.

The Tires were over-inflated by 7 to 8 pounds, and the lug nuts were over tightened by at least 15 pounds.

I went back to get my original caps back, made sure they hadn't charged me for nitrogen, and pointed out the errors in torque and pressure.Instead of apologizing and offering to fix it, 'Paul' lied and said they deliberately over-inflate with nitrogen. Nonsense. Regardless of the gas content the pressure should be set to the car manufacturers specs. The only reason to over-pressurize the tire is to assist with the lie that nitrogen gets better mileage, but at the cost of wear and safety)

As far as the improper torque, his excuse, like many shops now, is that they use 'torque sticks' on the air wrench. Don't fall for this, either. What he is referring to are called PRE-torque sticks. They are torsion bars invented to help prevent the mechanic from over-tightening the nuts PRIOR to final torquing with a wrench. The problem is that so many shops now rely on them for final torquing. I have yet to see a lug nut properly torqued using a stick only. Insist they use a needle or click-stop torque wrench, and if they don't go to another shop.

Never again.

I took my nissan maxima to sun valley for a no cold start and rough idle. They changed the IAC for over $400. I get the car, same problem. Sun valley then changes the engine computer, over $1,100 they charge me. Remind you, they have had my car for a month now at this point. I go get the car and same problem. I'm done with them. I take the car to a local nissan dealership and they diagnose it as a short in the motor mount and then they had to change the IAC and computer again because Sun valley messed it all up. Dealer charged me $1,800 to fix it right, in 3 days and with warranties. [redacted] at Sun valley did not offer to give me my money back nor money for being without my car for a month. They are unprofessional, horrible workmanship. [redacted]'t go here. Save your time (Days, weeks, a month) and money. Bet they don't fix your car right the first time.

Review: Pursuant to a mail ad for veterans oil change, she took her Porsche [redacted] to the business for same. The Sun Valley mechanic dumped engine oil all over the engine and undertray which caused oil to contaminate the rear brakes and cat converter potential fire. Huge amounts of engine oil have leaked all over our driveways and garages. The blow-back spilled engine oil has caused damages as stated above and destroyed rubber and plastic parts. The owner of this business admits liability but insists that my wife have it fixed and pay of the damages and then try and collect from his insurance company. This arrangement is obviously unacceptable and the car was placed in dry storage until the matter is resolved, hopefully without costly litigation as my wife is disabled). Not only are the brakes a safety hazard but Porsche claims that the catalytic converter could catch on fire as well.Desired Settlement: In addition to the rubber and plastic parts replaced; brakes replaced; underbody cleaned to original, we have the related issues of oil stains on garages and driveways; loss of use; demmurage; owner repair harassment and fraud issues to be resolved, (unreported negligence of returning to a customer a damaged, unsafe; fire hazard vehicle.

Local media be so notified of this type of business negligence.

We serviced the Porsche on 09-27-2012 - Customer was informed prior to service that a Porsce does not fall under our 11.95 " 5" quart synthetic blend coupon-

The car requires mobil1 oil and takes 9.+ quarts of oil. He auth the service and we performed the oil change with a new filter.

We were notified by customer on Oct 15 that he had some kind of a leak, I told him then to take the car to the nearest shop and have it checked then...-

And if it was our issue we would stand behind it and reimburse him for getting the leak fixed. He has never taken the car in ( To this date I believe it still has not been looked at)I have made the same offer multiple times.

He has e-mailed me over 25 times. Due to the content of his e-mails-

I have submitted his claim to my insurance company- All further contact must go to my insurance company.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Leak and oil smoke fire reported to merchant that same afternoon. Oil stains bill to merchant as requested and Sun Valley Auto (dba also as Placer Auto) never paid as promised. See attached. Matter reported to authorities for pending legal action. See attached docs.

Regards,

Review: towed by [redacted] to sunvalley tire, they diagonosed it as needing a new radiator and thermostat saying it would only take a few hours to fix and it ended up taking 3days and 3 nights at my expense. [redacted] assured me it was fixed knowing that I was driving to [redacted] and said not to worry call me when you get to [redacted]. I travelled about an hour out and it started overheating again, I called [redacted] and he told me there nothing he could about it. The fee for supposedly fixing my car was $469 plus food and lodging for 3 nights.Desired Settlement: Full refund, plus lodging expense.

Response:

I am sorry you are still having problems with your 1990 ford escort- the car was repaired (headgasket job) 3 days prior to us trying to help you-all we did was install a radiator- and bend over backwards to get you back on the road. As I informed you when I looked at it- I believe the head job was done incorrectly- But as you explained to me more then once -you had no money and were trying to get to KC- I discounted the repair and we worked on it a lot longer then you paid for- AS I am sure you remember ! I did not want to be in the middle of your issues with the shop who did the head gasket job- But here I am with you expecting me to refund you money on our work when you should be contacting the shop that messed it up to start with 3 days before you got towed to my shop. I tried to help you-As I told you when you called from 200 miles away-there was not anyway for me to come to you and fix the car-I have not even heard what happened to cause the over heating - but I am sure it was not a faulty radiatior.

If you want to send back-the parts we installed on it- I will refund the cost of the parts.
