Super Discount Transmissions Reviews (28)

Review: I was referred to this shop by Firestone auto technicians after taking my car there, as they said my best bet was to take it to a transmission shop. my truck was having issues (was stuck in 4wd and was constantly trying to stall out while driving). the manager at Super Discount Transmissions assured me after the detailed diagnosis of my vehicle, that they knew what the problem was and would fix it. he originally quoted me about $3,000 but after explaining to him about being strapped for cash, he did work with me on trying to get the price lowered to about $2,300. they did the work on it and the next day after getting it back, it was still having the same issues. I took it back, and again he told me they knew what the problem was and they were going to fix it (that visit was only $300 for a solenoid valve) they did manage to fix the 4wd problem, but nothing else. I took it back again, about a week later telling him that it was still stalling while driving. his response was "well, nothing we did to it would have caused this problem" even though this was my reason for taking it in and spending almost $3,000 to have it fixedDesired Settlement: I am making payments for the financing I had to get to pay this off. I would just like to not pay anything else, for services that did not even solve my problem.

In regards to customer to our client [redacted] and his 1997 Honda Passport, we tried to contact Mr. [redacted] directly to resolve this issue but failed to gain a response. Mr. [redacted]’s vehicle was initially brought into our facility for taking off in high gear, and the 4x4 coming on by itself sometimes. [redacted] diagnosis on the transmission was reaffirmed, the 4x4 coming on however did not occur; also the engine was barren of oil. We advised Mr. [redacted] the transmission would be removed, and a recommended repair would then be given. After the removal, we presented Mr. [redacted] with the option to rebuild his transmission as well as look into the 4x4 issue further. He explained he was unable to do so financially, we understood the situation and worked with him on lowering the price thus leaving the 4x4 for a later date. After completion of the transmission repair and install, we still had no signs of Mr. [redacted]’s complaints of the 4x4 light sometimes coming on. He was instructed should the light come on; return the vehicle to the nearest Super Discount Transmission so that we can assess the condition. Mr. [redacted] returned to our facility the following Monday Mar 23, 2015 with complaint of the vehicle stalling, this symptom was never previously mentioned. We completed a diagnosis to ensure that the issue was not related to work we had completed (stalling never occurred). Mr. [redacted] was advised to take it to a auto shop since his complaint related to engine issues and not transmission, we once again informed him, that his engine had no oil in it, we did no work to his engine besides as courtesy adding oil to it so that we can complete road testing of his transmission. About a week later on March 31, 2015 the vehicle was brought in this time for the 4x4 light, as promised we diagnosed Mr. [redacted]’s vehicle at no additional charge. It was determined that the vehicles 4x4 solenoid was faulty (stalling still never occurred during this diagnosis), bearing in mind Mr. [redacted]’s financial situation we charged him the cost $230 price on the component, no markup, no additional labor charges. We even allowed him to arrange a payment on said part, which still has a balance. Mr. [redacted] was appreciative of this and even asked if we can perform body work to his car, unfortunately as he was informed with his engine complaint we had to decline due to us being a transmission repair facility. In conclusion, Mr. [redacted] has a direct balance with Super Discount Transmissions in the amount of $130, as for his transmission repair financing the balance is unknown to us, as it is between him and his lender. The initial diagnosis of a transmission failure, which was also previously confirmed by Firestone, was addressed and repaired, as for the 4x4 “sometimes” coming on does not justify initially replacing a $230 component to an already financially strapping repair, which was why he was advised to return the vehicle when the error presented itself. We have stood by not only our work but our word with Mr. [redacted], we have helped him in ways that we are not required to but we are limited to what we can do regarding his financing resolution between him and his lender. IF Mr. [redacted] wishes to contact us with any complaint regarding his transmission repair, or his 4x4 solenoid he is welcome to do so as his repairs are still under warranty. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at our Goodyear, AZ location.

Review: Enterd by Phoenix Revdex.com Staff: Consumer has taken his car for transmission services to the busness. He then picked up his vehicle and it was still not fixed. He is upset becuase the busness has not been responsive to his conserns or to inform him of the state of his vehicle. He has gone without transportation because the busiess still has his vehicle.Desired Settlement: Consumer would now like the business to waive the 2200 fee and to return his vehicle in the state he turned it in because he is unsatisfied with the service he has received.

Review: In October of 2014 I took my van to super discount transmission because it slipped going out of first gear. Was told the transmission needed to be completely rebuilt. Quoted around $1500.00. After almost 2 weeks of getting the run around about issues they were having it cost me close to $3000.00. I have never received an invoice showing everything done or revived the old parts as I was told I would. In 7 months I took the van back for the same issue as original. Was once told "that's just how your van drives". Had it back the final time and was told they replaced a sprocket. Van seemed to drive better. On September 18th of this year while driving through texas I had a complete transmission failed. Had a shop look at it. They pulled the trans. Told me this one was never rebuilt and had well over 150,000 miles on it. Every part inside was worn out. My van had 82,000 miles on it. The trans had been painted with all the junk yard dirt still on it. I've tried talking to the general manager of super discount several times only to be told "oh she just pulled away". They have yet to call me back to resolve this issue. I have now paid another $2,600.00 to get my van fixed the right way. Employees there talk to me like I'm stupid saying I can deal with them and they don't know there boss's phonenum bet to call her. My next step is to contact a lawyer.Desired Settlement: None. They won't sleek to me.

Super Discount transmission always stands by our warranty. On 10/23/14 [redacted] called into our Surprise location at the time, and spoke with the shop manager **. Mr. [redacted] stated he just bought a 98 Windstar with a bad transmission and was inquiring how much it would cost to have it rebuilt, he was quoted a price of $2600 plus taxes forthe removal, dis-assembly, inspection, rebuild, & installation of his own transmission, At no point was any amount of $1500 was discussed. He asked if we could tow the vehicle to the shop to have the work completed, he was then informed that towing is free with any major repair. The vehicle was towed down and the rebuild process began. After the work was completed, Mr. [redacted] picked up his vehicle on 11/01/2015 which is 7 working days not two weeks as Mr. [redacted] stated. He drove his 98 Ford Windstar in on 08/10/2015 stated his transmission was slipping, he was informed he was under warranty and if there is any issue with the transmission it would be fixed under warranty, After further diagnostic super Discount transmission mechanic determined that an internal part had failed and the transmission would to be removed from the van and repair under warranty. The van was repaired and returned to [redacted], 08/14/2015. On 09/18/2015 we received a call from [redacted] demanding to speak with the general manager, He was then transferred to [redacted] one of the general managers. [redacted] started to make multiple accusations stating we never rebuilt his transmission we installed a used transmission, our general manager informed him that was not the case that his own transmission was rebuilt by Super Discount Transmission just like it is stated on his invoice along with 12 months 12,000 miles whichever occurs first local in shop warranty. [redacted] continued to make accusations that his transmission was not rebuilt it was used and all the parts that can prove it and that S&S Transmission in AMARILLO, TX told him the transmission is used. Our general manager then told him to bring the parts and video so we can look at it. [redacted] continued to yell and say he will never lay foot on the property. We have made multiple attempts to get in contact with [redacted] he was informed in the voicemail that the GM could only be reached between the hours of 8:00 am and 1:00 PM. On 10/05/2015 The GM spoke to him and asked him to email the invoices for the work done at S&S transmission and spoke with a gentlemen by the name of son (the mechanic that worked on Mr. [redacted]’s 98 ford Windstar) and informed me that they never told [redacted] that thetransmission was used, but that it was rebuilt by Super Discount Transmission but that it had failed internally.

Response:

They failed to stand by there work as she states in the first line of her responce. when I called and asked to speake to th GM I was told by [redacted] that he would not let me speak to her. I could talk to him. I told him that the Trans gave out and needed a total rebuild. His responce was "what do you want us to do about it?" I said I wanted my money back. He said :That wont happen" The van was still in warrenty and as she states in her responce that the other shop stated it failed internally. For a Trans that they say they rebuilt it should not have failed but it did. so they should stand by there work and pay for what I had to have done. There work stranded me in TX for 5 nights while I was on vacation. As far as the GM saying she made several attempts to contact me. Not true. She called once and when I returned her call within minutes I was told she just left the shop. I called several time to talk to her and she was never there. Also she failed to state that the van was back to there shops 3 time with the same problem as before they say thay rebuilt it. by one guy at there McDowell shop I was told "Thats just how your van drives" seems odd that after a "rebuild" you would have the same trouble as before it. My bill does not show what parts were replace or milage or anything else. Just says rebuild. But the GM says her copy states millage? Simple fact is that my trans was within warrenty so they need to step up and stand by there work as they say thaey do.

Super Discount Transmission does stand by there warranty. Mr. [redacted] never gave us an opportunity to help in this situation.. When Mr.[redacted] called our office the first time he started making accusations that we did not rebuild his transmission and that we installed a used transmission he stated he had the damaged parts so we asked him if he can bring the parts so we can inspect them, his response was “ I would never step foot on your property ”. Our warranty is a local in shop warranty as written on his repair order but in some cases we do work with other shops. He could have asked S&S transmission to call us so we could warranty out the parts. But in our previous statement Mr.[redacted] did not want anything to do with us, every time we were contacted by [redacted] it was always accusations and threats of a lawsuit. We will not issue a refund to Mr. [redacted].

Super discount transmission installed a transmission twice for 2002 Isuzu that lasted only through the warranty period. March 2011 with 18,000 mile warranty the trasmission broke down after 22,624 miles. I complained about the transmission not working correctly during the warranty period but was told that there was nothing wrong. They fixed it again on July 2012 with 12,000 mile warranty. Again the transmission was slipping before the warranty but nothing was done about until broke down at 17,000 miles just over the warranty period. Super Discount transmission installs transmission that lasts only until warranty expires. When I took the SUV back to have it looked at on July 25 [redacted] and ** managers inform me that it will cost another 1800.00 dollars to get it fixed. I insisted that it should be at no charge. They would not fixed it under the warranty so I picked up my SUV. They did not put sufficient trans fluid in and I barely got home. When I looked at the tran fluid level it needed 3 Q of fuild. They are the worse company I ever dealt with.

I had one transmission built by a shop that closed down. Transmission lasted a year and failed. it cost me $1500 cash at the time. THe truck sat broken down for 2 years until I found a used transmission. I called Super Discount Transmission on 32st and Mcdowell. I spoke with [redacted] who is in charge over there. They quoted me 980 for install out the door. Towed the truck to them and we immediately found an issue that my used transmission was wrong. So they made me a deal rebuild my bad transmission for $3500 cash and they would keep my used wrong transmission. I have them do it and I get the truck back. It was not shifting right so I had them look at it under warranty but they charged me $192 to change a few fuses and my air cleaner without my consent for repairs. I paid it unwillingly and went on my way. I still did not have 4x4 hooked up. Front drive shaft was $500 for rebuild or $550 for brand new from ford. They told me I needed to buy one missing peace and they would put a new u joint in it and put it back together for me. I go find a drive shaft online and go pull it off of a junk truck. Take the drive shaft to them and said fix it like you said and he responds perfect lets get these rebuilt. Another $500 and on top of it my 4x4 does not even engage since they had it. He wont fix it until he charges me for the driveshaft to be rebuilt. It is going to be $4500 to them if I did it and that's still doesn't even promise the 4x4 working. The truck is only worth 5000 and it has 240,000 miles. He knew my situation but kept taking my money. I am helpless when my truck is up on a lift and they are fixing it they bill me. They did not fix the 4x4 like promised. They run like a scam.

We had a very positive experience with Super Discount Transmission in Goodyear, AZ. Having just purchased a 2002 Buick Regal with 63,000 miles from an individual we found the transmission to need much work. A thorough inspection was done and the transmission was essentially re-built. The price quoted was billed when finished. [redacted], the manager, explained all that was done and what we could expect in the future, which is that it should perform for another 150K miles. We were very pleased with quick response and the work.

Review: December 13th

Truck fully serviced at [redacted] Ford, all fluids checked, oil changed and no issues.

December 27th

Puddles of transmission fluid started to appear in the driveway. The dripping and spots on the driveway were coming from under the “cab” of the truck, not the hood or from in front of the engine. I crawled underneath and could see that the drips were coming from the seals on the transmission, and no evidence of any other leaks. I called [redacted]) and scheduled an appointment to drop it off to them on Monday January 6th.

January 2nd

The truck started slipping on the transmission. I stopped and put eight quarts of transmission fluid into the transmission. Several blocks later it froze up just a half block from Discount Transmission. Without options at the time I made contact with them.

They got the truck moved from the street and up onto a hoist to look underneath. There was no evidence of leaking taking place from the radiator or from any area in front of the engine. They quickly pointed out to me that the seals on the transmission were the cause of my problem. They then took me to the office and clearly stated the seals on the transmission needed to be replaced and that would cost $1,800 for a seal kit rebuild as long as no “Hard” parts need replacement.

Without a choice I paid $500 so they could pull transmission and advise on cost to repair.

The next day I was told to stop by and they would go over it with me. I stopped and they stated it would be $3,300 to fix. I told them I would get one from a junk yard, they wheeled and dealed and I agreed to $3,000 not a penny more.

January 6th they call and state that my radiator is bad and that it would need to be replaced. (My guess is this is when they attempted to re-install the radiator and realized they had broken the quick connecting clips inside the radiator.) I questioned to why it’s bad. They stated that the transmission had failed and that it would need to be replaced. I questioned their findings and to why it had failed and their reply was that they weren’t sure, but it was no good and would cost a $1,000 for a new one.

I asked if the failure of the radiator was the cause for my transmission failure. They stated no they couldn’t state that the radiator was the reason, as the transmission was leaking everywhere.

I then shared with them that it was a brand new radiator and had just been installed six months earlier. It was still under warranty, and that I would take it back to the Radiator Shop that installed it.

The story then changed to the fact that when a clutch goes out it sends clutch particles through the radiator and that they would need to replace it, and that warranty wouldn’t cover the radiator based on that fact.

At the point they changed their story, I was in full retreat as their credibility of the facts had been destroyed. I told them flat out that they would not be touching my radiator, and that my radiator mechanic would be handling the work and or replacement. Not them.

They then change their story again and stated that if “I” could just get them a “warranty replacement” radiator and they would install it for $300. Again I told them that it was under warranty for parts and labor and that it would be cheaper for me to send the truck back to the radiator shop.

At this point I knew something wasn’t right, their story continually changed, and they kept trying to justify why they needed to perform the work on site.

They then told me that they couldn’t release the truck as the transmission warranty would be void if the radiator was not replaced by them, as there is no guarantee to the cooling of the transmission. I shared with them that I would take the truck to the radiator shop via tow truck, so that it wouldn’t void their warranty.

January 7th

I told them I was on my way over to pay for the work on the transmission and that I would be getting a tow truck to pick it up.

January 8th

Tow truck picked up my truck and took it to my radiator shop in Glendale for radiator warranty work.

Once it got there, the mechanic called me immediately and stated that the radiator was fine, and the only issue was that the transmission shop broke the plastic clip rings on the transmission line connectors. The only reason those break is that the transmission shop didn’t have the proper tool for dis-connecting the transmission coolant lines from the radiator. It wasn’t the first time he has seen transmission shops break these, and he was sure it wouldn’t be the last time.

The worst part is that it’s not covered under warranty, as the radiator didn’t fail. The mechanic doing the work broke the plastic connector rings. There is no way to replace these rings as they are internal to the radiator, and the only way to fix them is to fully replace the radiator.

The mechanic gave me the pieces from the plastic rings and showed how you can tell they were broke by the mechanic and not due to radiator failure. The biggest point to his comments is that both the intake line and exit line are both broke. All the pieces of the plastic rings were still inside the connector. If they had broken while fluid was being pumped through the lines those fragments would have been flushed into the radiator or out through the leak under pressure. That it is a clear indicator that the transmission shop didn’t have the proper tools.

Super Discount BROKE the quick connectors of the fluid cooling lines from the Transmission to the Radiator. They were broke, because Super Discount didn’t have the proper tools for disconnecting the hoses from the Radiator. Consequently they broke them off, only to find out later that they are non-replaceable as they are part of the inside flange of the quick connect to the Radiator. The Radiator shop clearly states there is no way for these pieces to break, other than my human hand. That is why all the pieces to these clips were still inside the internal flange. This proves they were broke after the truck stopped running and pumping fluid through the lines.

Consequently it cost me I’m now paying $1,088.36 to replace my radiator due to Super Discount Radiator breaking the quick connects.

January 13th

I take these findings and my bill to Super Discount Transmission and hand them a demand letter to admit to their fault and do what was right. Jeff asks that I get him the receipts.

January 14th

I take him copies of the receipts and he asks that I give him 14 days to respond.

January 28th

I call and ask him for his response, prior to me taking additional action against Super Discount Transmission.

He states that corporate is standing on the fact they did nothing wrong and that my transmission fluid all dumped out of the radiator from the broken radiator and that they had nothing to do with the problem.

• Fluids on my driveway were under the cab of the truck, not at the front of the engine.

• All pieces of the broken plastic connector rings were still in the flange, clearly showing they were broke after the transmission fluid stopped pumping at the time of rebuild. Those pieces would be gone from the flange either in the radiator or blown out through the leaking hoses.

• These pieces will also be submitted in the claim against Super Discount Transmission as all pieces clearly show no wear or tear after being broke.

• Both the inflow and outflow connectors were broke. If failure of the transmission was an issue, both wouldn’t have failed at the exact same moment.

If resolution is not immediate, I will be proceeding with legal action, as I have pictures and the pieces to the plastic connector rings that were in the flange.Desired Settlement: Payment of $1,088.36 to cover the cost of the radiator replacement and the cost of my rental car.

SUPER DISCOUNT TRANSMISSION

I called this business up and asked for informaton on transmission service, the man I spoke with named [redacted] told me the price of repairing the transmission will be a plat fee of $895.00 plus 700.00 dollars labor and 195.00 soft parts. I went into the shop on May 23, 2013 and he showed the the work order and aske dme to sign authorizing to repair . The he showed the the price of $895.00 asked me to sign agreeing with 895.00. after I signed he gave me a story about WORST CASE SERNERIO!!! THEN HE WROTE IN THE AMOUNT OF $2350.00 (AFTER I SIGNED THE PAPER). I asked him why he wrote that number when he didnt look at the truck yet? he told me its just a worst case senerio that dosent mean thats the price. The next day he called my husband and told him it was gonna cost $2350 plus tax . I ended up paying 2500.00 total, (and they started the work already)

This guy has you sign the repair bill then puts in the numbers after the fact. thats just wrong!!! I called other places and was told that there is no way a transmission needs to replace all parts. I just want people to beware of this place, they are dirty!
