In regards to our customer *** ***He received his motor in the spring of :from us here at Advanced Cycle MachiningThe Customer states that he had an issue with the motorHe proceeded to disassemble the engine by himself to re.pair. Disassembling the engine voids our
warrantyGiven an opportunity we would have picked up and remedied the issue but we were not given that chanceHad he given us the chance to remedy the situation the first time we would have completely disassembled and re--assembled the entire engineBy his own admission the customer states that he has had this engine apart at least three times without prior consent/contact from us. The customer also states that he had to disassemble his engine to repair a heli-coiL We here at advanced cycle' did not install any heli-coils into these engine cases. In an attempt to restore customer relations we sold and installed a brand new oil pump at parts cost and zero labor charge after the engine had been in the customers possession for over yearWhen the bike was finished the customer test drove hi~ machine before leaving the shopHe was gone for about minutesHe made a comment about how good the engine started and ranThe customer had the ignition magneto incorrectly installed which was leading himto a previous hard starting issue. We have been in business sitice and stand behind our workOur stated wananty is one year on parts and laborGiven the opportunity we would have wanted nothing more, than to repair the engine the first time but as stated earlier the customer took it upon himself to perform his own "repairs"We regret that the problem occurredWe do not warranty products/parts if the customer has taken it upon themselves to repairWith the customer being only two hours away from us we would have had zero problems picking up the bike from the customerBut'again we were not' given the chance Any further questions please contact us at advanced cycle machining

In response to Advanced Cycle Machining's last  response. Wisconsin Civil Statues of Limitations state that a person has 2 to 6 years to file a lawsuit pertaining to vehicle repairs. Also a 6 year limit because of injury to personal property. All of the fore mentioned apply to the work done on my 1948 Panhead. The statutory clock starts ticking typically on the date of the incident or the discovery of the harm. And being that the engine failure is caused by incompetence and negligence the scope is greatly broadened. All I want is the $2369.00 I spent on the"  miscarriage of repair" inferior work performed on my Panhead!

As stated in the last letter THERE WILL BE NO CASH REFUND.It has been 18 months since this engine originally left our shop. It is now December 3, 2015 Have not heard from customerWe now consider this matter closed. Thank you for your time.Advanced Cycle Machining

I did pick up my 1948 Panhead engine in the spring of 2014. I did call [redacted] shop and was told to bring the engine up, they would make it right. At no time were any conditions or issues of warranty written, expressed, or implied brought up in the numerous phone calls. In the only receipt I received from Advanced Cycle Machining there is only an itemized list of parts replaced, no reference to terms or conditions of warranty. I am employed by Halvor lines Inc. in Superior, WI and know for a fact that it takes 3 hours to drive to Superior, WI from my house. In 2014 I occupied my domicile 21 days ( 2014 tax filing information) so time was definitely of the issue. At NO time was there ever an offer to pick up the motorcycle or motor for obvious needed work. ( I. E .very low compression) They continuously denied that the pistons could be the wrong ones.( See previous letter). ____I never said that they installed any heli-coil. I only said that a heli-coil needed repair and was the cause of an oil leak. I do recall that one of the reasons for bringing up the engine originally was for stripped lifter block attachment holes as well as thread repair to the timing mark access hole. As for the oil pump issue.... After arguing about the actual need for the new oil pump, I paid in cash and no receipt was given. After checking the S&S Cycle website I found out that the aftermarket oil pump claims to increase oil pump pressure and volume by 25 percent. Why would a rebuilt engine need more pressure and volume? Maybe because internal bearing clearances and tolerances were not correct? In hindsight the oil pump replacement seems like a " bandaid" approach to cover poor workmanship. In the same conversation Phil Runser Jr. Stated that the prior oil pump snap ring ( see previous letter) was the correct one for an oil pump. Well it is BUT the snap ring installed by Advanced Cycle Machining was put on the wrong end of the oil pump driveshaft. The snap ring installed by them was put on the oil pump drive gear end ( which allowed the shaft key to walk out and disengage the oil pump) and not under the outer cover on the shaft end by the oil pump internal pump gear. Total oil pump operation ceased and had this happened on the open road a major catastrophic engine failure could result. As well as a possible motorcycle accident. ---- As for the Morris Magneto timing issue, the magneto has a spring loaded " impulse coupler " and can be difficult to properly set. I've run magnetos for years and years ago I bought a Morris Magneto Timing Tool, so I have no issues with timing the magneto. ( Yes I still have the dated sales receipt for the tool.) When the oil pump was replaced and the gear case cover removed the timing may have changed due to the spring loaded impulse coupler in the magneto. ---- Many times I called and emailed and sent pictures by email of the oil pump snap rings and the ignition gear shaft engine case damage. Before contacting the Revdex.com I sent Advanced Cycle Machining a certified letter with pictures. They refused to except the letter. - I have absolutely NO confidence in Advanced Cycle Machining to attempt any work to my motorcycle. I have a motorcycle that I cannot ride due to expectations of a catastrophic failure. Phil Runser Jr.'s people obviously did not measure piston to cylinder wall clearance or the engine could not have possibly left their shop. The oil pump snap ring is a minor part with a major job. Not using thread locker on the ignition drive and intermediate gear shafts retainment screws is unthinkable. Major engine damage would result if allowed to run long under these conditions. The engine will have to be completely disassembled and inspected and tolerances and clearances checked. Advanced Cycle Machining wants to disassemble and assemble the motor again? In my opinion they lack the knowledge( Phil Runser Sr.) of the older Harley engines as their ignorance and incompetence has demonstrated in the failure of my Panhead. - I have been a Professional Truck Driver for just over 4 years. Prior to that I was an automotive mechanic for 32 years in the US Army as well as civilian life. In the Army I rebuilt gas & Diesel engines while assigned to component rebuild platoons, in Oklahoma & Germany. In 1978 I was awarded an Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service as a mechanic in Germany. In 1987 I graduated with honors with a 2 year degree in Automotive Mechanics from the Chippewa Valley Technical College. In 1989 I graduated from Auto -Tech in Roseville, MN, an auto mechanics graduate course, with honors. I was an ASE ( Automotive Service Excellence) Master Automobile Technician for over 20 years. My certifications expired in 2012. In 2011 I graduated from the Chippewa Valley Technical College for truck driving, again with honors. - - I am appalled by the amateur mistakes made by Advance Cycle Machining to my 1948 Harley- Davidson Panhead. It is by the grace of God and my Guardian Angel that my Panhead motor did not suffer a catastrophic failure while riding and possibly cause injuries or my untimely demise!  To resolve this issue I demand a total refund of $2369.00! The incompetence of this shop has cost me alot of time and angst! Not being able to ride my once trustworthy Panhead is a pain beyond words!            Revdex.com:

Due to the deficient repair of my Panhead engine, your carelessness and negligence take precedence over your so-called warranty. The damage caused by the unsecured ignition drive gear shaft screw is a mirror of Advanced Cycle Machining incompetence with my Panhead engine. Along with the installation of incorrect pistons as well as the wrong oil pump snap ring, any trust I had in Advanced Cycle Machining is long gone!!!
