I was interested in purchasing a car and I was told in order to start the application I would need to leave a down paymentI left the down payment and signed a contract indicating that if we could not come to an agreement that the down payment would be refundedThe financial rep was very unprofessional and I decided that I was no longer interested in making a purchase with this particular dealerI called two days after I made the down payment and informed the financial rep that I would like a refundIt has been month and weeks since then and I still have not received my refundI have called a left several messages for Roberto O*** (the financial rep) and none of my calls have been returnedI’ve spoken to several managers including one by the name of Amity who told me that someone would return my phone callI’ve even reached out to the general manager and still no one has returned my phone call or provided me with any type of information in regards to refunding my down payme

I leased a car from Tarrytown Honda in September The vehicle I leased was a New Honda Civic 5D Hatchback 1.5T Sport Touring AutoI signed a lease based on the "Honda Loyalty Special One Pay Program," which allows lessees to make payment at the beginning of the leaseI agreed to a month lease, for which I paid $10,as a time payment, plus $1,(costs for: Title Fees, Registration fees, Tire Fee, DOC, and taxes), for a total of $12,It has now been approximately months since the start of my lease and Tarrytown Honda recently contacted me saying that my lease will expire after a total of months instead of monthsIf I were signing a month lease, I would not have agreed to pay the $10,paymentSuch a payment on a month lease would equal approximately $436.85/month, as opposed to $291.23/month if it were on a month leaseBased on the car that I was leasing and the intentions of both parties, it is clear that we agreed to a m

I purchased a new Honda HR-V for my daughter which I paid in cash
My daughter wanted it in white and they had to ordered that color since it was not available at the dealership
The day we went to pick up the "new car" it had milesOther things such as dirty break pedal and minor scuffs didn't look like they go together with a new carI was not happy purchasing a new car with miles on it alreadyThe manager explained that the car was driven from Albany ( distance Albany to Tarrytown miles only) and after being pressured by both manager and salesperson I finally caved in
The following day I did a little investigation and asked a few competent people (retired auto salesmen) about this matterI found out that auto dealers use new cars to do errands all the time and then sell them as brand "new."
I understand new cars are also test driven but I can't believe that a car was test driven for milesWith an average of miles per test drive that is an amazing

I returned my leased honda pilot almost weeks now and leased a new crv ..attached still on the honda pilot was my running board which I paid myselfi asked the manager im dealing with if he could do me a favor if he could take them off for meHe said yesIve called almost times already to check and still I get the same we'll give you a call back reply..just talked to the salesman who took care of me also during the transaction and told him ill take it out myself..he said if the car is in their lot I guess I can but if somewhere else..I just want my running boards cause it cost me for that

Be careful about getting into a lease with a new car I signed a lease in September and only put miles on the car and needed to get out of it because I lost my job and the corresponding need for the car I was unable to get out of the remaining $19,on the year lease without having to pay $5,in fees for their finance office to take back the carI expect more honesty from the dealer

We agreed to a price of $5,plus tax and licenseThey then kept us waiting for over hours before sending us to the business managerAt one point Neal stated that it was the company’s policy not to accept the entire payment on a credit cardI told him I didn't have cashHe disappeared for a few minutes and came back and said "I worked it out for you"When we finally get to the business manager's office I noticed there was a charge of approx$label after-saleWhen I ask about it I was told it was PDIWhen I ask why it wasn't labels as such I wasn't given an answerI should have walked out at that point but after three hours I was just ready to leaveIn the three hours that I was there Neal (sales Rep) NEVER mentioned anything about a PDI fee also nowhere in the internet disclosures is there any mention of a PDI feeIn addition the internet ad claimed that the vehicle could be financedWhen we discussed financing the sales rep stated that "oh that vehicle doesn't qual

I purchased a Honda Pilot from this dealer in September When I placed a down payment on the car, I was told that it would include several safety features (the Honda Sensing series) When I picked up the car and paid for it, I was told that the car included these features I learned after I took that car home that it did not have the features we agreed upon I called the manager of the dealership, who promised to replace the car with a properly equipped car The car was never replaced, and I have been unable to reach him on this issue

Review: I initially brought my car in because the key would not open the drivers side. After 5 such trips where I received wrong keys I still do not have a key to open the drivers side (I do not use a security clicker) so I have to climb in through the passenger side. I left 3 messages for Jim, Customer Service Manager who has not to date returned my calls.Desired Settlement: I would like them to make 2 keys to the driver's side of my car.

Sincerely,

Review: I was sold an extended warrantee without my consent. I was never told or explained of the warrantee at the time of the purchase. Within a couple of days after the purchase I saw a $2,000.00 charge on the invoice. I made several in person visits to have it removed immediately after the purchase. I was giving in person a Canellation Request signed and dated by the finance officer of that dealership, however it was never removed or credited. I believe they had no intention of making this correction. I found this out when I purchased some Honda parts sometime later during the warrantee. I want to be credited the full amount plus any addition punitive damages that fit this crime. I actually called the dealership to correct this matter and they said they could not help me resolve this.Desired Settlement: a settlement and damages for having work done out of pocket while having covering that I assume was removed.

Response:

I apologize for your concern regarding the extended warranty however you purchased the vehicle and extended warranty back on 03/**/2013 which is over two years ago. Unfortunately, due to the extended time-frame we are unable to request a full refund from the warranty company. However, if you come to the dealership and complete the necessary forms we will be happy to submit your cancellation to the warranty company which will be at a pro-rated amount. In regard to you not being aware of the purchase of the extended warranty - I have attached signed copies of your finance agreement and extended warranty contract which both lists the extended warranty info and price. Please let us know if you will be coming in to sign and cancel the remainder of the warranty. Thank you

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here : I have a hard copy contract of the cancellation of the extended warrentee signed only a couple of days after the purchase of the Honda. I tried several times to get them to credit the bank and they just blew me off as if I would go away. I made several calls and a few visits in person at the dealership. Sometime time later I purchased some Honda parts at another dealership and that's when they told me that I still had a warrentee , so when I called the dealership they told, " too bad there is nothing we can do for you. I replied that I have a signed contract removing this extended warrantee, again nothing. Please let me know in a few days what you think. The attachment should change your mind.

Response:

Thank you for providing me with the cancellation document and please let me apologize again on how this was handled. I have contacted Honda Care as well as your Finance Institution - [redacted] and explained the circumstances due to the delay on submitting this warranty cancellation was on the dealerships part and not the purchaser. They have accepted your cancellation in full pending verification that there were no claims submitted against the warranty. They told us we should have verification of the warranty being cancelled in full within 10 business days. If the warranty was never utilized, they will refund your finance bank the full purchase price of $2000.00. This amount will be deducted from the principal amount of your loan hence making the term shorter. As soon as I have the verification, I will be more then happy to mail you a copy for your records. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Review: I purchased a Honda Pilot, new, in 2008. It came with a 3 year warranty. I was sold a 4 year extended warranty that came with a guarantee that if the warranty was not used by the expiration of the warranty, the cost, an additional $1200.00 would be refunded. I still own the car, the warranty time expired in May. I tried to contact the company that held the warranty and they are now out of business and there appears to be a class action law suit against the company, ([redacted]) dating back to 2010. That is only two years after my car was purchased. I was never contacted by Tarrytown Honda about this false warranty. I tried emailing them and left a message with a sales manager but they have not responded. They sold me a refundable warranty but now I can't get my money back.Desired Settlement: I would like what I agreed to in writing with Tarrytown Honda, a refund on a refundable, unused, extended warranty.

Review: Ordered a new CRV Ex on 12/**, Have left multiple calls about delivery, vin #, total sales price, approved interest rate. Left messages with manager, salesman for 1 week no one calls back.Desired Settlement: I want to know the final price of the car, the delivery date. I am renting a car (day-by-day) waiting for some information about the delivery. Also when I finally spoke with the finance manager he gave me my loan rate. I called back about the total cost of car. Never heard back. I went and got a car loan from my bank. they need to have a vin #. I know the car has to come in but there are cars due in. If I am on the list for an incoming car then why can't I be given one of the cars that are due in. I put a deposit on the car, cars are coming in. Seems all I have to do is pick one from the incoming stock. They have posted on their website 7 CRV Ex coming in.

Good Afternoon,We have no record of this customer either purchasing or servicing their car at Tarrytown Honda. Regards,[redacted]VP of OperiationsTarrytown Automotive Group

Review: I went to Tarrytown Honda on 3-**-14 to have a 75,000 mile service on my car. I knew I also needed two new front tires. They advised me that I also needed an alignment.

So, I did all of this. Upon paying I was advised that I needed struts for the front of my car. The strut on the right was broken and the one on the left was cracked and that in

addition to paying the $1663.36 I had already paid it would cost another $1100.00 for the struts and that I would have to come back as they were closing and that they didn't realize

the struts were a problem until all the repairs were already done and my car was taken on a test drive. My problem is that you did an alignment as well as change both front tires

that the struts were broken and this was not picked up? Wouldn't you see the struts were broken when you replaced the tires? Did the alignment? Did the 75K service? I left messages for the service manager without a call back. My most recent call was on 4-**-14 at 3:39pm. I decided to take my business elsewhere. I had to pay for another alignment and I would like Tarrytown Honda to reimbursement for the alignment I paid to them, since I had to pay a second time which I should not have had they did the job correctly the first time.Desired Settlement: $124.95

Review: On or about June **, 2015 I was informed by my mechanic that my engine block was cracked. After doing some research, I found out that there was a problem with all 2006-2009 Honda Civic's that were experiencing the same problem. There was an extended warranty that allowed me to bring my car to a dealership and they would replace my engine for free. When I brought my car to Tarrytown Honda, the service tech Gordon G[redacted] told me that I would need to leave my car until July *, 2015. I rented a vehicle from [redacted]. I spoke to a woman at [redacted] (Veronica and her phone number [redacted]) and she told me that Mr. G[redacted] advised her that my rental car would be covered 100 percent. Well on July *, 2015 Mr. G[redacted] contacted me at or about 2-2:30pm telling me that my car would not be ready until Monday and that I should see if I can keep the rental till then. Well I finally picked up my car on July [redacted] and I told him I had one invoice from [redacted] in the amount of $318.99 (that was just for the week) and that I would have another one coming for the extra days. He told me to fax the invoice, which I did. When I went to Tarrytown Honda on Monday July **, 2015 to pick up my check it was only in the amount of $318.99. I asked where the difference was and he told me that he never received my fax, (which I might add I have confirmation that it was delivered). Tarrytown Honda is telling me that they don't have to pay me the additional $285.18.Desired Settlement: I would like my refund in the amount of $285.18. If [redacted] has notes saying my rental will be covered 100 percent, then I am entitled to the balance

Business

Response:

I am sorry you were not completely satisfied with your service experience and I have taken the time to review and research your claim. I spoke with Veronica at [redacted] and she has no record on file that your rental charges would be covered 100%. I also called [redacted] and they informed me that you requested an upgraded rental vehicle from our standard $35.00 per day compact, a Honda Civic, which is the same type of car, a civic, that you brought in for service. Their records indicate that you rented a mid-size sedan, Chrysler 200, for the first few days and then a large SUV, Nissan Rogue, for the remaining week, both of which have a rental fee of $63.80 per day. At this time, [redacted] will only authorize a dealer reimbursement of $318.99 which was paid. As our Service Manager informed you, we have asked [redacted] to review your case on a Customer Goodwill level if you contact [redacted] Customer Hotline and choose Campaigns Department. They have the authority to approve items above and beyond dealership authorizations. I hope this information is helpful. Thank you

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I just reviewed what the service department said and its a complete lie. I had to get a new rental car from [redacted] because the one I was in, had a bubble in the tire. That was not safe for me to drive. Tarrytown Honda is the worse car dealership and I will never go there again. I spoke with [redacted] and they have agreed to pay me the balance since, Tarrytown Honda is not. I will make sure that I tell everyone about my horrible experience with Tarrytown Honda and they should stay clear of that service department.

We are sorry that you are still unsatisfied even though we submitted your claim to [redacted] on your behalf and according to your statement they have agreed to reimburse you the amount of your claim. Please understand that no one made any false statements as [redacted] told us both vehicles you were in were both at the higher rate. We are happy that your claim will be paid and resolved as we had submitted to [redacted]. Unfortunately, [redacted] will reimburse customers directly as a good will instead of going through at the dealership level. Again, we are happy that we were able to assist in getting your complaint resolved and paid via [redacted].

Review: Brought in my 2003 Honda Element for routine 60k service. Told service dept. I noticed two noises that I would like them to also check out. Service notified me that mechanic recommended 2 fixes for the noises. [redacted] shot up from approx $600 to over $1400. Agreed to additional service and waited all day for repairs. Upon picking up the car I noticed the same two noises were still present. Found mechanic who worked on car and he seemed to not even know what I was talking about regarding the car. It seemed as if he had not been working on the car. I feel that these additional services were fraudulent and that the mechanic performed a minimum service on the car. I am very unsatisfied as I had heard from other people locally that they felt that mechanics were not performing actual service on their cars when they were in the shop. I will be following up with local State Attorney and [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like the original car noises to be looked at again and to be repaired. I would like a different Honda mechanic at the shop to work on the car while I am present. I feel that I cannot trust this dealership and am prepared to spread the word in Tarrytown if this is not taken care off satisfactorily.

Case Number: [redacted]

To whom this may concern,

On the day of 10/**/2013 a client by the name of [redacted] came in for a routine 16,000 service and two noise complaints. On the same day that evening I, the service director [redacted] asked customer if he would like to take a test drive with my technician or myself. At the time we replaced the wheel bearing, customer claims noise is still there. I told the customer that I would repair anything from this point towards that noise at no charge to him. Client has not given me the chance to repair the vehicle since that incident.

Review: Please review summary of events (see below) regarding the problem between my 2001 Honda Accord car and Tarrytown Honda: 10/**/2013 I brought my car to Tarrytown Honda for an oil change. After changing my oil, I was informed by a service advisor that my car had an oil leak at the timing belt area. In order to fix the problem, he said they would have to replace the crank & cam seals in addition to replacing the timing belt, which would cost $700 and require me to leave my car for the day. Since I had to go to work, I said I would think about this additional work that would be needed for my car and left. 11/**/2013 8:00 am: As per the service provider's recommendation, I brought my car back to the Honda dealership to replace the timing belt unit and seals. In order to make sure that replacing these parts would fix my oil leak, I re-confirmed with the service provider before the work began that these replacements were necessary to solve my oil leak problem and that there were no other parts that could have caused this leak. 1:30 pm: The service provider called me and said that after replacing the timing belt & seals and removing several car parts (including the engine) to find the source of the oil leak, that “no leak could be found at the timing belt and seals area.” In addition, he claimed that the source of the oil leak was coming from the oil pan seal. After giving him permission to replace the oil pan seal, he said the new price quote would be an additional $235 added to the original $700 quote. 4:30 pm: I picked up my car and paid the new $935.00 quote. While driving back from the dealership, I noticed there was an unusual knocking sound coming from the engine area that wasn’t there before I brought my car in this morning. (I have never had engine problems with this car before) 11/**/2013, 11/**/2013 9am Since the new knocking sound concerned me, I brought my car back to the dealership and talked to the same service manager, who explained that I would have to pay for repairing whatever was causing the noise. Since he was attempting to make me pay for a problem that the dealership caused, I asked to speak to the service manager. I explained the situation to the manager, including the part where I was initially told the oil leak was coming from the timing belt & seals and paid $700 to replace them, even though I was later informed that the oil pan seal was the primary cause and charged additionally. After explaining that I felt scammed into replacing the timing belt unit & seals which were never the problem, he agreed to refund the $235 for the oil pan seal replacement and $150 for the labor involved in replacing the timing belt unit. In regards to the loud engine noise, he initially denied that this was a problem since he stated his 2013 Honda made a noise also. I protested that his car’s noise was not the same as mine. After he listened to my car’s noise for himself, he immediately called over the original mechanic who worked on my car, who listened to the engine with a scope. Overall, the manager decided that the dealership would fix this unusual noise problem at no cost to me, which he suspected would take 1-2 days depending on availability of certain parts. 11/**/2013 8:30 am: I brought in my car and left it at the dealership. 1:30pm: The service manager called. He said that the knocking noise was coming from inside the engine and was not related to the work the mechanics did during the 11/**/13 job and the engine noise “was not our problem anymore.” He also stated that my car is old and would have eventually started having problems and that "maybe it was a coincidence" that it starting to have problems while being repaired at the dealership. Thus, he is contradicting himself by going back on his promise to solve the problem and he now refuses to fix my car now. After picking up my car, there was an even louder noise coming from the engine while driving back home. 11/**/13 7am This morning I drove my car for a few miles. The noise coming from the engine kept getting worse compared to the previous day. After I stopped to park my car, I checked under the hood and smelled a burning odor, and noticed water leaking from the radiator area. Thus, I have decided this is a very serious engine problem and I cannot drive this car anymore or else risk my safety and further damage to my car. In summary, the primary problems are: 1. Tarrytown Honda's repair job resulted in additional damages. 2. This dealership is now refusing to fix the problem they caused, even though they promised to fix it initially (recorded on voice recorder). Due to this situation and my Honda being my sole source of transportation, I am now stranded and unable to drive to work, go to doctor appointments, or do other essential errands.Desired Settlement: I am willing to accept any of the following outcomes from this situation with Tarrytown Honda: 1. Tarrytown Honda takes responsibility and return my car back to it's original state before I brought it to their dealership where the loud engine noise, burning odor, and water leakage are no longer present free of charge. This would also require them being responsible for towing my car back to their dealership for these repairs since I do not wish to cause further damage to my car and put my safety in jeopardy. Depending on how long this repair job takes to complete, I may also need a loaner car or reimbursement for a rental car while these repairs are completed. 2. Have a written agreement between Tarrytown Honda and myself to have an another auto garage fix my car with a guarantee that Tarrytown Honda will reimburse me for the repairs necessary to fix the damage my car has incurred. This includes reimbursing the cost of having my car towed to this other garage, Depending on repair length, I again may need a loaner car until the repairs are completed. 3. Tarrytown Honda offers me a replacement car or money equal in value to my original car they damaged.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Although my car's engine seems to be back to its original state prior to being repaired at Tarrytown Honda, a new issue (see email to Tarrytown Honda's general manager [redacted] below) . I also need to know whether the timing belt Tarrytown Honda replaced on 11/**/13 prior to the engine replacement is the same one currently in my car. Thus, I am currenlty awaiting Tarrytown Honda's response regarding these new issues.

Since last Monday (Nov [redacted]), I have been driving my car to make sure it is back to its normal condition prior to being repaired at Tarrytown Honda. Although the engine problem seems to have been fixed, I would like to know whether the timing belt I got replaced at Tarrytown Honda on 11/**/13 is the same one that is currently in my Honda. This is very important information since I will have to know how many years I have left before the timing belt needs to be replaced again.
