Textures By Blue Sky Reviews (%countItem)

Blue Sky removed the popcorn, installed new texture and painted the ceilings in my entire home over a 4-day period. The work was excellent. We had an estimator come out and look at our home. They gave us a firm price and it was exactly what we paid for the work at the end. They sent a 4-person crew that was all Hispanic and very professional and courteous. I have no biases against any people, so the fact that they spoke both English and Spanish was fine with me. They put in full days of work each day.

We watched their video of what to do to prepare for the project, and read the flier about what to expect. They were very realistic in setting expectations. I highly recommend them. We had moved our furniture out of the house for additional remodeling, and that made it easier for them to work.

*** but we are positive about our experience, so much so that we have asked them to quote on the interior painting of the home.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT RELY on an estimate (verbal or in writing) unless Textures by Blue Sky has done an onsite inspection prior to initiating the job. My estimate increased by 85%.

On 6/18/19, I emailed Blue Sky and asked "Can a firm written estimate be provided based on review of the photos/real estate listing without actually inspecting the unit in person?" The office manager responded on 6/19/19 stating "Yes, we can do that for you." An estimate was provided in the amount of $1270 for removal, etc, and an additional $746 for painting ceiling.

I wrote a 2nd time on 7/8/19 stating "You provided the estimate below. Is this a firm estimate or do you need someone to come into the unit beforehand? If so, the realtor is giving us access on Friday the 12th around noon. "The office manager responded on 7/9/19 stating "Yes this is a firm estimate." She sent a 2nd email on 7/15/19 confirming the estimate in the amount of $1270 (removal, etc) + $746 (paint). The job was then scheduled for 8/3/19 & 8/6/19.

Unknown date, I received a call from Blue Sky's office manager that they wanted to send an operations manager out prior to job to look at the site for logistics, etc. After his inspection, he asked me how much Blue Sky had quoted and then said it was under-quoted due to how far they would have to run a hose (they would need a hopper and they would need to protect sprinkler heads, etc). It was clear based on my discussion with the operations manager, that this was not the first time the corporate office under-quoted a job.

On 7/25/19, I received an email with an adjusted quote from the office manager based on the site inspection. It was an increase from $1270 to $1900, a 50% increase over the initial estimate. It was based on removal, hopper, sprinkle head protection, etc. There was no change in the painting estimate.

On 7/26/19, I received an email from the President of Blue Sky with a 3rd estimate, and it had increased again to $2355 (removal, hopper, sprinkler protection, etc - apparently, they incorrectly calculated the number of sprinkler heads). He failed to include the $746 for painting on this estimate. The email went on to explain the basis for the increase in cost (hopper, sprinkler protection, etc). The increase from the original quote to the final quote excluding painting went from $1270 to $2355, an increase of $1085 (85%).

After being advised in writing 2 times that a "firm" estimate could be given without an onsite inspection and then ultimately receiving an estimate that was 85% higher, I thought it was in my best interest to cancel. The bottom line was that I could not with any certainty be sure that I had a final number that I could rely on.

Fortunately, I was able to find another company to come in and provide a timely on-site inspection prior to giving a estimate, complete the job to my complete satisfaction and at a cost that was significantly less than Blue Sky's last quote.

I had them remove the popcorn ceilings in my home....They sent 3 Hispanic speaking men to do the work...not one could speak a word of English, probably illegals. They made extensive damage to my ceilings and walls......I was threatened by the owner Clay that he was going to send two men to come to break my head if I didn't pay him. Of course I didn't as I had over five thousand dollars damage to my home...I would never recommend this company as they are nothing but a rip off.
