Review: The staff at auto connection sold me a Jeep Cherokee that had the check engine light on. With that being said I couldn't get the car inspected in the state of North Carolina.I returned the Jeep on a Monday. I purchased the Jeep on a Friday. Now I have a reposseion on my credit.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to go in and remove this from my credit promptly.

Review: I went into the dealership to co-sign on a vehicle with my cousin. They ran his information first. The salesman came out and told us we needed to "make more money" so my information was ran. They checked my credit, employment, etc. We were informed that together we could probably get approved for the loan. The salesman went on to ask us if we lived in the same home, I told him no; however he insisted that we "make it look like we lived together and that we were a couple." After waiting he came back and said we where approved he just needed references. My cousin gave a list of references of people he knew. I did not complete a reference sheet as the salesman said he just needed references from one of us. We left without getting the car. But about a week later, my cousin returned and decided he wanted a car. He went in and paid the down payment and completed his paperwork. I was then told that I needed to return to complete my half of the paperwork. When I arrived that next Monday I was told I needed to get the insurance and specifically told "don't add him (my cousin) to the insurance so it would come out cheaper." ) That right there was incorrect information. Every driver of the vehicle must be listed as a driver. When it came time to complete the paperwork I was taken into a room alone and told my cousin couldn't go. If we are co-signing why would they not allow him to be present when I'm signing? I guess the same reason why they allowed him to make a down payment and complete his paperwork without me present. I later learned that my cousin's license was suspened when I tried to add him to the insurance. If his license is suspended how was he able to be approved as a co-signor on this car? The first thing they ask for were our licenses. I'm not sure what the salesman was trying to do, I guess he was more concerned with selling a car than he was with being ethical or even legal. I have searched through all the paperwork and I have no proof that my cousin even co-signed. I don't even have record of him paying a down payment. From a legal standpoint I believe that I was involed in a straw purchase, which most lenders don't like. I admit to co-signing on the car, but at know time was it explained to me that I would ultimately be the only signor, yet the loan was approved on falsified information.Desired Settlement: No payments have been made on this vehicle. We don't even have the tags. Because this a straw deal that was manipulated by the salesman, unbeknowing to me. They can take their car back.

I will be contacting [redacted] Financing also.

Response:

I WILL BE DISCUSSING THIS WITH THE GM OF THE DEALERSHIP. IN THE SYSTEM [redacted] IS THE BORROWER AND THERE IS NO CO-BORROWER. PLEASE ASK [redacted] WHERE THE CAR IS AND WHO IS DRIVING IT. IS IT THE COUSIN? THANKS [redacted]

Review: I bought a [redacted] from this place. The first month I had it I had to replace the window bar which cost me 265.00.Because they wouldn't do it.and I was told it happens a lot.Well then the Radiator was leaking anti-freeze so we patched that up.So we took it back to them because it had so many problems,Well they talked us into keeping it and getting it fixed that cost us 791.00 and some change.plus the payment to keep the car running from [redacted].Well when we got it back it had some kind of air leak and had no heat due to them not putting in anti-freeze.So we put anti-freeze in it and it was still leaking out.I went out of town for Christmas and the engine light came on.Just barely made it home from Cumberland Maryland. When I got home was going to a friends house not even 5 minutes down the road and anti-freeze blew out everywhere. So basically it had more problems then it did when I got it back from them.We already paid over $10.000 for a piece of junk..LEMON.. and still owe over $8,000.Desired Settlement: I want a refund for everything I paid in this lemon...I will never go back there and recommend no one go there to get a vehicle they are a Rip-off they charge more for their vehicles then they are worth.

Response:

SORRY FOR THE DELAY. ACCORDING TO OUR NOTES A REPAIR IS BEING DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE CAR IN GOOD RUNNING ORDER. IT SEEMS LIKE THE FIX IS IN THE WORKS. THAT WAS AS OF 1/4/16. IF THE CUSTOMERS HAVE ANY FURTHER ISSUES THEY CAN CONTACT ME DIRECTLY ON MY DESK PHONE AT [redacted] I HAVE ACCESS TO THE PEOPLE THEY ARE WORKING WITH HERE ON THE PROBLEM. [redacted]

Response:

We are rejecting this offer due to the mechanical condition of the vehicle,My Husband told them that the water pump was going when they so called fixed the radiator,They ignored that, the crank shaft is going and the transmission is going, the vehicle is unsafe and it's not dependable or trust worthy,I have grandkids I travel with in the vehicle and I can't trust it or depend or it..It scares me I have to hold my breath that I make it from point A to point B.I don't want it back..When they fixed the radiator when I got it back I had no heat,it was blowing cold air due to their negligence of making sure there was anti-freeze in there which there wasn't.So no I don't trust the vehicle and it's not safe on the road..Im not taking it back.So make an offer to settle this. It's a LEMON...

Review: I contacted The Auto Connection via phone a few weeks ago. I inquired about their dollar down program and was told I was preapproved for a vehicle but I had to come in to finish the paperwork. I stressed the fact that I had nothing more to put down and that I didn't want to waste my time if it wasn't guaranteed. The man I spoke to, [redacted], assured me that as long as my debt to income ratio was fine that I would be approved for the dollar down. We spoke again a week or so later and he reiterated that as long as my debt to income ratio was good, I'd leave with a vehicle. I have no outstanding debt and since that was the only criteria, I decided to go. My cousin was taking me and called herself to make sure that we weren't taking a five hour round trip for nothing. The lady she spoke to,[redacted], told her the exact same thing that [redacted] told me. Her exact words were "it looks like a go". My cousin also stressed to her that I had no money to put down except the dollar, that I had no cosigner and that we were coming from 2.5 hours away. Again, [redacted] and the other person she spoke to told her it was a go and that I didn't need anything else. We went there on Wednesday June 18. I fill out the required documents and the salesman asked me how much did I have to put down and I said I wanted to do the dollar down. He said they really shouldn't tell you that because only 30% of people qualify for the dollar down program. He then went to the manager who told me I'd have to put art least $500 down and also said that about 30% of applicants qualify for a dollar down. I called the other number back to speak to [redacted] who was not in the office. I ended up talking to [redacted] and she apologized for the "miscommunication". I asked to speak to her supervisor who assured me that she would review the tapes and apologized. She also said that I could have emailed an app just to make sure I could get the dollar down. Which I was never told to do. She said they were not supposed to tell me that it was a "go". I asked if there was any way they could get me into a car today just because of the time it took for us to get there and the blatant misleading that ALL of her employees did to get me into the office. She called the finance company who said that I had to put down at least $500. I feel like this entire situation could have been avoided if the people my cousin and I spoke to over the phone had just told me that they had a points system to determine how much you had to put down, if I was emailed the application and if I was actually told that there was a good chance that I did not qualify for the dollar down program. I could have made an informed decision on whether or not to make a 5 hour round trip. And I really don't feel like management did enough to remedy the situation. I think someone could have waived the points system and figured out something to get me into a car. Then they asked if I would come back once I had $500 to put down. Absolutely not. Nor would I ever recommend this place to ANYONE I know.Desired Settlement: In all honesty, I don't think that this place will do anything for me other than the apology they've already given. Which is moot as the damage has been done. I hate wasting time and money. They DO need to change the way their salespeople present the information and be more honest about the requirements. Every car in the lot has a $1 down sign in blaze orange. I also feel like they should have done more than apologize to me. They think that people will have something to put down once they're in the dealership. I was very specific in letting them know that I didn't have the money to put down or time to waste.

SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN REVIEWING THE COMPLAINT I HAVE BEEN OUT OF TOWN. I WILL BE MEETING WITH THE [redacted] OF ALL THE DEALERSHIPS AND HAVE PRINTED OUT THE COMPLAINT FOR REVIEW. THEY WILL DRILL IT DOWN TO THE SALESMAN LEVEL TO SEE WHAT WAS SAID. I DON'T SEE A LOAN ON THE BOOKS FOR [redacted] SO I WILL ASSUME THE SALE OF THE VEHICLE DID NOT INDEED GO THRU. I WILL SEE IF THE DEALERSHIP WILL REVIEW HER APPLICATION AGAIN.[redacted]

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. If the company does not perform as promised I can get back to you at: [redacted]. If I am offered a loan for the original dollar down program, I will accept. Thank you.

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

Regards,

I accepted the offer the first time because [redacted] said in his message that he would listen to the calls and find out what happened and see if the business would review my application. If my app was reviewed and still didn't qualify, I can understand that although I still feel like it was misleading initially. But I was never contacted or anything. A simple email saying we reviewed your application and are still unable to offer you the dollar down would have been sufficient. At least I would have felt like the business had done everything it could have to remedy the situation. As it stands, I have no idea if the calls were listened to or anything. For all I know, they could still be doing the same thing to other people.

Business

Response:

I HAVE MADE CONTACT DIRECTLY WITH [redacted]. WE ARE GOING TO PULL HER OLD APPLICATION OUT AND SEE WHAT WE CAN DO FOR HER. OUR CALL CENTER DOES NOT MISLEAD CUSTOMERS. THEIR JOB IS TO FIND CUSTOMERS WHO WANT A CAR AND THEN TO GET THEM IN TO APPLY. NOT EVERYONE HEARS DISCLAIMERS THE SAME. BELOW IS THE LANGUAGE FROM OUR WEBSITE WHICH IS THE SAME THAT THEY USE IN THEIR SOLICITATION EFFORTS. PLEASE NOTE THE WORD "MAY" IN THE TEXT.

EITHER WAY [redacted] AND I SEEM TO HAVE GOOD RAPPORT AND WE WILL DO WHAT WE CAN TO TRY TO QUALIFY HER OVER THE PHONE FOR WHAT SHE WANTS WITHOUT DRIVING THE LONG TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP. [redacted]

Review: I purchased my car from this company in 22009/2010. They have that new lock box in your car for when buyers do not pay on time, they shut your car off. After fighting to pay this car that's worth less than $9,000 but paid over $14,000 for it after my $1 down and $85 title and tag fees, I finally this year paid the car off in full!!! Low and behold, most dealership give you the title in less than 30 days. Well Auto Connection/[redacted] states that they give you the title no more than 45 days. Well, if I paid the car off the second week in February, after calling twice, why isn't my title prepared and sent to me and its going into the third week in April? Something doesn't sound right and I'm getting worried after 4 to 5 years of paying my money and not being able to drive when I missed a payment, that there is some shady business practices going on.Desired Settlement: I would like my title, so that I can officially OWN my car and NOT AUTO CONNECTION or [redacted]. If Auto Connection/[redacted] cannot provide me a title so that I official no longer belong to them and own my car; then while I'm still under them, I expect complimentary repair services until I own my car with a title in my hand by no later than next week!!! Next week makes two months and a week and still no title yet they got my money and the car paid in full!

We are checking on the title and with [redacted] to see where they are in this process. [redacted] and many other government agencies are backed up but the customers loan is paid in full and he will get his title. We are a car dealer and do things in bulk but we will send an individual employee to [redacted] to get in line if necessary to expidite this for him. We are checking in to it now as we speak. Review: I have been paying on a financed vehicle with this company since 2011. I have tried to trade the vehicle in as I have better income and would like to not have to deal with their starting and payment system hooked up the vehicle. Upon going to several dealerships I have learned that I owe 5 times what the vehicle is worth and no once will finance me. I also have major repaid issues with the vehicle. The dealership itself has told me that the car has a oil leak that is not worth repairing because of the age of the car. I have been paying for constant repairs as well as car payments. Recently because of my dissatisfaction with the car, the finance company has been making the payment system fail on purpose leaving me stranded with no vehicle to drive and having to find rides home. I simply want out of the loan so I can move on to a better vehicle. They are unfair and do not value their customers. I make a very good leaving and the ONLY thing keeping me from another vehicle is the negative debt on this lemon of car.Desired Settlement: I would like the loan amount reduced so I can get get out of the loan.

NOT SURE HOW THIS CAME THRU YOUR Revdex.com AGENCY IN [redacted] AS

THE CUSTOMER LIVES IN [redacted] AND THE CAR WAS SOLD IN [redacted].

THE CUSTOMER BOUGHT THE CAR IN JANUARY 2012 SO THE CUSTOMER

HAS HAD IF FOR 3 ½ YEARS NOW. THE CAR AT THIS POINT IS 14 YEARS OLD SO REPAIRS

WILL BE NEEDED. WE OFFER REPAIR LOANS AT 0% INTEREST RATE AT THE DEALERSHIP TO

OUR CUSTOMERS ON WORK WE DO. THE CUSTOMER SHOULD CONSIDER USING US FOR REPAIR

WORK.

WE HAVE A COMPUTER BOX IN THE CAR WHEREBY WE CAN HAVE THE

CAR NOT START (WITH PROPER WARNING) IF THE CUSTOMER DOES NOT PAY. PER OUR NOTES

SHE IS BRINGING THE CAR IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. MOST TIMES IT IS NOT THE BOX; USUALLY

IT IS SOMETHING ELSE LIKE A LOW BATTERY IN THE CAR.

THE CUSTOMER WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE LOAN BALANCE DOWN TO

$2500 TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A TRADE IN AND THE BALANCE AT PRESENT IS $6000. THE CUSTOMER

CAN CONTINUE TO ATTEMPT TO TRADE THE CAR IN SOMEWHERE ELSE AND HAVE THE

DEALERSHIP THAT MAY BE INTERSTED IN THE DEAL CALL AND MAKE US AN OFFER TO

SETTLE THE BALANCE OUT. THAT MAY BE A GOD STARTING POINT TO A SOLUTION. [redacted]

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The finance company has told me repeatedly I am good paying customer which I am. If I am a good paying customer then treat me like one. The car has too many repair issues beyond it's value. I have the right as a paying customer to desire a new and better running vehicle. This is the common practice most consumers. Therefore, I want a new vehicle or the price of the loan reduced so I can get out of the loan. I have paid $13,000 on this 2001 vehicle that now is worth $1500.

The finance company and dealership are still offering any settlement on this issue. The car has a coolant leak and an oil leak. Their very own service department has told me this car is not worth putting any money into fixing the oil leak. I just had a water pump and entire coolant system replaced in the last 6 months and it's leaking AGAIN. They want me to make payments and fix a 2001 piece of crap. If the car was worth it I would but it is not. I have statements from other mechanics who warn me not to put money into this car. I have had repair issues for over six months now. Any other dealership with an ounce of integrity would allow a person who pays regularly on their loan to trade a car in. Every place I've been to has told me that can't finance me out of this deal. Only 40% of my regular payment is going to the principal balance of this loan. The rest is interest. They have already made $13,000 out of me on this car. I'm a single mother working too jobs with NO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE. I have an MBA. I'm not stupid. I was desperate for a car due to getting a divorce and no help from ex at the time. Since then I've built my finances up to sustain myself. I will not be taking advantage of any further by this company. I'll go to the news if I have to. It is immoral and down right shady what they are doing to my family.

I SPOKE WITH MS. [redacted] RECENTLY AND THE FINAL CONCLUSION IS THAT IS IF SHE CAN GET $3000 TOGETHER SOMEHOW WE FEEL WE CAN PRESENT THAT AMOUNT TO THE COMPANY AND I FEEL THEY WILL HEAVILY CONSIDER FORGIVING THE REST OF THE LOAN. MOST PEOPLE IN THIS DAY AND AGE OWE MORE THAN THEIR CAR IS WORTH WHETHER THE CAR IS RUNNING PROPERLY OR NOT. FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS DO NOT JUST LET CUSTOMERS OUT OF THEIR LOANS AND FORGIVE THE REST OF THE BALANCE. ALL OF OUR LOANS ARE PLEDGED TO A LINE OF CREDIT AS COLLATEROL. IT IS UP TO THE CUSTOMER TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING UNTIL THE LOAN IS PAID OFF OR ABLE TO TRADE IT IN TO PAY THE REST OF THE LOAN OFF. WE FEEL WE ARE AT AN IMPASS. THE $3000 POSSIBLE SETTLEMENT AMOUNT STANDS AS THE BEST WE CAN DO. [redacted]

I still do not feel the matter was handled with customer concern or care. I am seeking other possibilities of action on this. I have requested a copy of my contract and the company would not provide it to me. I have continued to make mu payments but am seeking legal council.
