The Engine Builders Reviews (39)

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below The Engine Builders response was to no surprise altered to appear as though his business did every thing they could to accommodate meThe necessary repairs that were made to the engine were due to the work that was done when engine was replacedI need to take my vehicle to another place of business to repair the damages caused by faulty mechanical workEngine rebuilders just made speedy repairs to get me out of there in hopes that it would have lasted through December when my warranty expiredFor them to not honor the warranty they promised and to want me to pay an additional $to do the repairs needed plus not warranty the work after completed is absolutely ridiculousThe repairs needed will cost me approximately $to $dollars with a warranty by an honest businessA faulty fuel injector would not have caused the damages that were done to the motor in such a short period of timeI believe this company has done this to several other customers, and unfortunate for them, they need their vehicle and have no choice but to pay additional unnecessary fees to retrieve their vehicle There is no way I would pay this fly-by-night operation an additional plus for their mistakesI believe they should reimburse me the cost to repair the damages caused by this company's failure to insure my vehicle was repaired properly when the keys were handed to meFor an engine to supposedly need replacing after having the vehicle for less than [redacted] weeks is unreal, but to expect the customer to pay for it on top of that is ludicrous! Regards, [redacted]

We installed a newly rebuilt engine in this vehicle and the owner picked it up from us on January 18, He returned Jan 23rd , with AC electrical problems We found he had a blown fuse and replaced it We found he had a bad fan relay which the vehicle owner stated he would take care of himself His Power Steering Pressure Sensor clip was broken so with the owners approval we zip tied it Our warranty covers mechanical failure of the actual long block itself and as such the time spent to search and repair these issues should have been charged to the customer however we did not He again returned when something had flown in thru the space caused by the high lift and damaged the cam sensor pigtail for which we again did not charge him for parts and labor On May 30, he called saying he had been in on a Saturday a couple weeks prior for a misfire He says he was change the coil pack on #and if it didn’t clear up to change the injector He drove home and parked it and stated that he doesn’t drive it all that muchWhen he changed the coil he drove it around the block and the miss was still there so he drove it around the corner to his mechanic who says it sounds like the #valve spring is broken or a rocker arm States plugs look good but it has no power and as agreed he had it towed to us for check out Our tech John states it was a couple of Months previous not a couple weeks when the customer had stopped by with a misfire He was advised to change the coil pack first and if it still had a miss to change the fuel injectors as well Its obvious that he kept on driving with the misfire Our tech told him the cold air intake and aftermarket headers the customer had put on the truck causes it to naturally run slightly lean( Lean starts melting parts) Our tech advised him he needed to go back to a stock air filter and put a [redacted] on itTo correct the lean condition along with have the gear ratio’s done to accommodate for the lift and tires before the motor was ruined( Wrong gear ratio way over works engine) What we found was his #and 7’s spit out the rockers and trashed the lifters and cam There was either fuel or coolant in #meaning it had hydro lockedcausing the damage to the cylinders which is why we replaced the injector A compression test was done and it proved to have no compression so we removed the Drivers side head, changed all lifters and cam All new sparks, injector a new oil filter, oil and coolant added as well We had originally advised him he needed one maybe two fuel injectors and we would be getting both incase the second one was actually need At the time only needed We put it back together and took it for a mile test drive It ran out of gas during that drive and had to have someone from our shop take him the gasThe fuel gauge had read just over a ¼ tank of fuel so we did not put any additional fuel in as would be our custom had it been low While on that drive it ran out of gas and another employee had to be pulled from the project He was on to go get gas and take it to him After returning to the shop we found it had an engine code for an oSensor which we replaced with the vehicle owners approval We told him it ran out of gas on the test drive to which he stated it had never happened before We advised him we feel his fuel sender may be intermittently working and to have it looked at It was not until we got to the end of the job that we determined this repair should have not been done under the warranty as the fuel pump or fuel injector more than likely caused the rocker and lifter to fail and not a simple lifter failed It hydro locked We felt it was not fair to tell him initially it would be covered then surprise him with a large bill for the repair We again told him he needed to do a tuner and that his truck wasn’t geared for the oversize tires and high lift on his truck When told about how it ran out of gas and that we felt the fuel sender was going out he said it had never done that before and would check it out More recently he called us and said his daughter had taken the truck on a trip and was just outside [redacted] when it lost power She pulled over and waited awhile and when she started it back up it was fine so she continued on miles later it did it happened again so she pulled over and he had it towed home A couple days later he went to use it and it had a misfire and check engine light He had it towed to us This time it was a misfire on # #is located on the opposite side that we worked on the last time We pulled the coil and moved it to a different cylinderThe miss did not follow the coilWe pulled the spark plug to do a compression check and found the spark plug was burnt( from running lean ) We camera’d the cylinder and the piston is burnt There is no compression and has a possible burnt valve and now he needs a new motor The customer says we’d had it weeks ago and he put less than miles on it ( he actually put over miles on it) and we say the injectors are good so he didn’t worry about it He claims we never discussed a tuner with him or he would have done it and feels that this damage is no fault of his own These are his fuel injectors, and fuel pump Fuel Injectors can go out at any time the sending unit controls the gauge but if the fuel pump is funky it cool fool the computer to thinking it was starving for fuel and control the fuel appropriately We said his injectors were good and they were or else he wouldn’t have gone the miles since it left our shop the weeks prior Fuel injectors are electric they can be good one minute and bad the nextThe computer controls the injectors also it can richen or lean out the injectors Either condition would have triggered the check engine light and when cylinder started to get to lean check engine light would have most likely started flashing which means stop immediately first off he knew he had problems he should not have let his daughter take the truck on a trip like that especially up mile mountain very hard mountain for any vehicle to climb especially with a crew cab lifted truck with way oversized tires, with the wrong gear ratio in the axles for the tires being run that is under powered with a engine If she would have stopped when the light first came on and especially after lost power and had it towed probably would have been all right( would have just needed fuel Injector) conclusion is no matter how long a vehicle is driven or an engine has ran an injector or any other electrical item can go bad at anytime the only one who knows when they go bad is the driver and only the driver If a vehicle is not running correctly it should not be driven until the problem is found when truck was at our shop it was running fine but needed the tuner which he knewWe built the engine and installed it We didn't build the truck around the engine so those parts still have the same miles on them that the original engine had so off course any of those parts can go out at anytime without warningJust as his original engine did if it had been shut down instead of kept driving itIt would have been fine with a new injector( before melting the piston and spark plug) We have went beyond our job on this truck and have never charged him labor for the work we have done that didn't pertain to our engine WE have spent many hours of work on his truck for free that wasn't under warranty ( no other shop would have) We also offered him to replace the engine at less than our cost $that is a discount of $ and he declined We do our best and go beyond for our customers Thanks [redacted] ***

We again set forth our position as stated in our first response and add that [redacted] refusal to accept our position based upon his stated reasons for rejection are nothing but his slanderous opinion Based upon his prior admission to our shop manager that he doesn’t know much about engines we do not feel he is qualified to respond such as he did We invite [redacted] to look at his original invoice in which he had stated that he wasn’t sure exactly what happened to his engine and that he thought the oil pump went out and caused internal damageWe ask him to recall the need of a new radiator which indicates the vehicle had gotten hot We strongly advise and welcome him to take his vehicle to a credible, knowledgeable shop of his choosing, and have THEM give him an assessment based upon what they find and not just the side of the story he wants to present We ask the particulars of when he put the lift on the vehicle and why the shop who did the lift not inform him that he needed to regear the ratio to accommodate the oversize tires and lift? Did he fail, yet again, to not “recall” being told he needed to do additional upgrades for proper usage and the outcome if he did not address the issue appropriately? We also ask this customer to review his signed warranty with us (attached) that clearly states as well as was gone over with him that “ Continued operation of the vehicle once an issue has been detected will void warranty” As well as further down “Damage caused by lack of proper maintenance as described in the vehicle’s original Maintenance Schedule/Owner’s Manual, failure to follow Maintenance Schedule intervals, or failure to use or maintain proper type and levels of fluid, fuel, oil and lubricants recommended in the Maintenance Schedule/Owner’s Manual or by The Engine Builders Proof of proper maintenance is the owner’s responsibility Keep all receipts and be prepared to make them available if questions arise about maintenance.” And “Damage as a result of inadequate fuel delivery or ignition system failure.” Our decision to not warranty this engine was made solely on the facts he stated to us as to what happened with his daughter and our findings the piston was melted and no compression on the opposite side of the repair that had been done weeks prior It certainly was not due to faulty mechanical work It was solely due to his negligence in not following the instructions given him to replace the cold air intake to factory, adding a tuner, getting his gears redone to proper ratio and having his fuel delivery system checked for optimum performance Again, the fuel injectors are electrical and his fuel delivery system has the original miles on it against the miles of our engine Accessories wear and tear just like everything else and when you add in inadequate upgrades and inattention to the dash of a vehicle when it’s flashing a CEL, disaster is sure to follow Additionally, everyone is given instructions and both our office and owner cell phone number to CALL US 24/in the event a issue arises Calling someone who may or may not know the right thing to do can cause further damage We did not learn of the problem or what he did about it until it was too lateThere is no way we would have advised continued driving of this vehicle under those conditions We understand that people are quick to anger especially when something doesn’t go their way We also understand that those that are unhappy squawk the loudest while those that are happy rarely set to the internet to post positive reviews of superior customer service Both of these instances are highlighted by his oversight in posting positive feedback when we went above and beyond and did not charge him for parts or labor rates for repairs needed outside our warranty on [redacted] separate instances prior to his fuel problems He was charged our cost for the parts and at less than our shop rate simply because we were not aware of the fuel delivery system failures We pride ourselves on not gouging our customers like many shops do In fact, he is one of a handful that we have had to void the warranty on and charge for repairs or replacement engines and believe me we don’t like to have to do so but when negligence and non-compliance on the customers part is evident we can not, nor should we be expected to, eat the cost of his actions The piston is melted He needs a new engine We offered to build him one at OUR COST of $1,plus injectors as needed strictly in the best interest of this customer Beyond that, we will not pay anything to anyone for repairs that he rejected from us

Tell us why here...Engine Builders Re Mr*** We built his Engine on 04/16/a year and half later not right away as he saidHe brought it in for a misfire and turned out to be a coil pack in cylinder #He has no oil in cooling systemHe scraped with his fingernail on inside of
radiator and say that's oil when all the radiator develops is brown residue, he also replaced the radiator and put wrong coolant in itHe used conventional antifreeze when it should have extended life dexcoolWhen using conventional antifreeze electrolyses will happenHe came in on 06/25/which was the second time and was determined to be a bad coilHe brought it back 01/05/he said he had oil in radiator (There was no oil in radiator) and he also says he was burning excessive oil (quarts) on his way to ***He gave us his permission to drive his truck, we drove it around miles and didn't burn a bit, had no leaks, no oil in radiator. If there would to be oil in radiator it would definitely be water in engine oil which it wasn'tWe always try to help our customersHe picked up on 01/23/We have also told Mr*** since day one, to get rid of his aftermarket air cleaneryou can see right through them,it doesn't block dirt and can wear cylinder wallHe stated he likes the look of it and has no plans on changing itOn 04/13/he calls yelling and screaming stating his truck is losing oil and we broke his oil tubeI stated that if we broke his tube, why didn't he call us in January when he picked it up? He stated he hasn't opened his hood since he picked it upI saidYou say your truck is burning oil quarts in miles and in months you didn't open your hood? Doesn't make sense to meHe brought it back, we checked it at that point Mr*** broke his oil tubeHe picked up on 04/27/2015, he burned his tires out of here making a scene and did tire marks pretty deepGreg P***(Owner of The Engine Builders) went to his house to talk to himGreg checked his oil and was fullMr*** says he hasn't opened his hood in months and no oil added, so it's not burning oil as he thinksEven though his warranty is over in miles and date, while at his house he tried telling me we scratched up his truck, we had it parked in the same spot as it was dropped offWe have had over 1,cars in lot and yet have we had any cars with scratches specially all overHe then started yelling at me when his wife came out so I started to leave as I'm walking away Mr*** hit me in the back, I turned my head and said don't do that againI got into my truck and he started yelling that if I didn't give him a new engine he will ruin my businessHe's lucky I didn't press assault charges. So to conclude he did this to a shop prior to usHe claimed he had problems when warranty was almost upDoing the same with usTruck is not burning oil, no oil in radiator or exhaust, he also stated he hasn't opened hood from 01/23/to 04/13/and was still full of oil and to this date yeti have seen a plug fouled from his engineHe also replaced his radiator a while after we did engine did he over heat it? Mr*** also told Greg the truck runs great

We installed a newly rebuilt engine in this vehicle and the owner picked it up from us on January 18, 2013.  He returned Jan 23rd , 2013 with AC electrical problems.  We found he had a blown fuse and replaced it.  We found he had a bad fan relay which the...

vehicle owner stated he would take care of himself.  His Power Steering Pressure Sensor clip was broken so with the owners approval we zip tied it.  Our warranty covers mechanical failure of the actual long block itself and as such the time spent to search and repair these issues should have been charged to the customer however we did not.
He again returned when something had flown in thru the space caused by the high lift and damaged the cam sensor pigtail for which we again did not charge him for parts and labor.
On May 30, 2014 he called saying he had been in on a Saturday a couple weeks prior for a misfire.  He says he was change the coil pack on #7 and if it didn’t clear up to change the injector.  He drove home and parked it and stated that he doesn’t drive it all that much. When he changed the coil he drove it around the block and the miss was still there so he drove it around the corner to his mechanic who says it sounds like the #7 valve spring is broken or a rocker arm.  States plugs look good but it has no power and as agreed he had it towed to us for check out.
Our tech John states it was a couple of Months previous not a couple weeks when  the customer had stopped by with a misfire .  He was advised to change the coil pack first and if it still had a miss to change the
fuel injectors as well.  Its obvious that he kept on driving with the misfire.  Our tech told him the cold air intake and aftermarket headers the customer had put on the truck causes it to naturally run slightly lean. ( Lean starts melting parts)  Our tech advised him he needed to go back to a stock air filter and put a [redacted] on it. To correct the lean condition along with have the gear ratio’s done to accommodate for the
lift and tires before the motor was ruined. ( Wrong gear ratio way over works engine)
What we found was his #5 and 7’s  spit out the rockers and trashed the lifters and cam.  There was either fuel or coolant in #7 meaning it had hydro locked. causing the damage to the cylinders which is why we replaced the injector.    A compression test was done and it proved to have no compression so we removed the Drivers side head, changed all lifters and 1 cam.  All new sparks, injector  a new oil filter, oil and coolant added as well.  We had originally advised him he needed one maybe two fuel injectors and we would be getting both incase the second one was actually need.  At the time only needed 1. We put it back together and took it for a 15  mile test drive.  It ran out of gas during that drive and had to have someone from our shop take him the gas. The fuel gauge had read just over a ¼ tank of fuel so we did not put any additional fuel in as would be our custom had it been low.  While on that drive it ran out of gas and another employee had to be pulled from the project  He was on to go get gas and take it to him.  After returning to the shop we found it had an engine code for an o2 Sensor which we replaced with the vehicle owners approval.    We told him it ran out of gas on the test drive to which he stated it had never happened before.  We advised him we feel his fuel sender may be intermittently working and to have it looked at.   It was not until we got to the end of the job that we determined this repair should have not been done under the warranty as the fuel pump or fuel injector  more than likely caused the rocker and lifter to fail and not a simple lifter failed.  It hydro locked  We felt it was not fair to tell him initially it would be covered then surprise him with a large bill for the repair.  We again told him he needed to do a tuner and that his truck wasn’t geared for the oversize tires and high lift on his truck.  When told about how it ran out of gas and that we felt the fuel sender was going out he said it had never done that before and would check it out.
More recently he called us and said his daughter had taken the truck on a trip and was just outside [redacted] when it lost power.  She pulled over and waited awhile and when she started it back up it was fine so she continued on.  5 miles later it did it happened again so she pulled over and he had it towed home.  A couple days later he went to use it and it had a misfire and check engine light.  He had it towed to us.
This time it was a misfire on #4.  #4 is located on the opposite side that we worked on the last time.  We pulled the coil and moved it to a different cylinder. The miss did not follow the coil. We pulled the spark plug to do a compression check and found the spark plug was burnt. ( from running lean )  We camera’d the cylinder and the piston is burnt.  There is no compression and has a possible burnt valve and now he needs a new motor.
The customer says we’d had it 3 weeks ago and he put less than 300 miles on it ( he actually  put over 500 miles on it) and we say the injectors are good so he didn’t worry about it.  He claims we never discussed a tuner with him or he would have done it and feels that this damage is no fault of his own.
These are his fuel injectors, and fuel pump.  Fuel Injectors can go out at any time the sending unit controls the gauge but if the fuel pump is funky it cool fool the computer to thinking it was starving for fuel and control the fuel appropriately.  We said his injectors were good and they were or else he wouldn’t have gone the 561 miles since it left our shop the 3 weeks prior.
Fuel injectors are electric they can be good one minute and bad the next. The computer controls the injectors also it can richen or lean out the injectors.  Either condition would have triggered the check engine light and when cylinder started to get to lean check engine light would have most likely started flashing which means stop immediately.  first off he knew he had problems he should not have let his daughter take the truck on a trip like that especially up 7 mile mountain very hard mountain for any vehicle to climb especially with a crew cab lifted  truck with way oversized tires, with the wrong gear ratio in the axles for the tires being run that is under powered with a 4.7 engine.  If she would have stopped when the light first came on and especially after lost power and had it towed probably would have been all right. ( would have just needed fuel Injector).
conclusion is no matter how long a vehicle is driven or an engine has ran an injector or any other electrical item can go bad at anytime.  the only one who knows when they go bad is the driver and only the driver.  If a vehicle is not running correctly it should not be driven until the problem is found.  when truck was at our shop it was running fine but needed the tuner which he knew. We built the engine and installed it.  We didn't build the truck around the engine so those parts still have the same miles on them that the original engine had.  so off course any of those parts can go out at anytime without warning. Just as his original engine did.    if it had been shut down instead of kept driving it. It would have been fine with a new injector. ( before melting the piston and spark plug)  We have went beyond our job on this truck and have never charged him labor for the work we have done that didn't pertain to our engine.  WE have spent many hours of work on his truck for free that wasn't under warranty.  ( no other shop would have).  We also offered him to replace the engine at less than our cost $1000 that is a discount of $1700  and he declined.  We do our best and go beyond for our customers.
Thanks

To start we finished his truck 7/3/15 on 7/3/15 around 2 or 3 we called customer to let him know he need a radiator no answer so we left a message. Message saying the radiator was full of sludge and that he needed a new one cost $200 so you know we are not even marking up the cost at all so we...

ordered a new one as no way we will install his old one as it probably was part of the reason his original engine overheated. While we were installing new radiator we received two 5 min messages with him cussing us out saying we are trying to rip him off by buying new radiator he says there is nothing wrong with his radiator and do not put a new one in. Well at $200 we are not ripping anyone off as we are not making nothing from it. When he got here we showed him the radiator and he agreed he needed a new one for him having to wait around while we finished it. It does take time to get radiator and install radiator and also fix other things wrong with his truck that had nothing to do with our work. ( 20 + year old truck).  We also discovered his fan clutch was not working correctly and advised him to have it replaced he said he would.  We drove his truck 20 - 30 miles after completeling the work the AC worked great. When he left the AC worked great.  We did not hear from him again until Friday 7/24/15 he told us his AC quit working so we said bring it in let us look at it.  He brought it in on Monday 7/27/15 we looked at it seen a split in the hose. Told him he needed a new hose ( 20 year old hose ) the rott and dry out form the inside out just like a tire over years.  We did not damage his hose as it worked fine for three weeks after we did the work. We had nothing to do with his AC hose going bad ( 20 year old hose split from age ) after he left our shop 7/27/15 he called left another 5 min message on how we had better fix his AC and give him a rental car.Well after that we talked to him and asked him so when you left 7/3/15 your AC was working fine he said yes and that it has been working fine till now 3 weeks later 7/24/15 he said yes.  I said well its a 20 + year old hose as the rest of his truck is 20 + years old parts are bound to go out had nothing to do with us.  I told him a place that would fix his hose for under $50 and then bring it back to us and we would charge his AC back for him (A $75 value ) For free.  As we always try to help out our customers. Well that deal is now off the table for trying to take advantage of us. I also can't believe the Revdex.com would allow someone to file a phony complaint like this. We didn't do anything to his hose so we are not responsible for it.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
First of all when we picked up the truck on 7/3/2015 they had called me and left me a message saying it needed a radiator at which time I called them back an authorized it and they said it would be $200.00 dollars and that time I had no idea they had also called my brother who in turn left them 2 messages and had cussed them out . When we arrived there they were still working on the truck and [redacted] showed me the radiator and I agreed it was bad . When my brother arrive he and [redacted] began yelled started hollering and [redacted] pounded his desk and was angry at my brother . They apologized to each other an the 2 mechanics left in his truck with the windows down and test drove his truck for 10 minutes returned and we paid the bill and began to leave with me driving my brothers truck to check out the repairs . I rolled up the windows and turned on the air after we got to 67th Ave and the compressor never came on and hot air is all I had . I had to roll the windows down and we went home . I had to go to the hospital and my brother checked his truck and found that his a/c line was damaged . The reason it took so long to contact them was because I told him I would call them because they did not want to talk to him anymore . When he brought the truck in they saw the line was damaged and [redacted] told him he could take the line off and have it repaired and re-install it . My brother does not have the mechanical ability I do because I have 40 Years experience in the automotive industry and he was told the line was rotten . Now why would you have some one with no experience or tools take off a rotten line and have it repaired and re-install it ? When the line was good and the air was working great before the engine was replaced ! As for the claim of filling a false claim that's just not true !

Tell us why here...First off we were not paid up
front.  His engine was installed within the week and he paid and picked up
his car. We received payment after finishing engine and installing it. We
replaced the engine not the car around it.  He had other problems then the
engine. The...

parts he needed were not available anywhere which had nothing to do
with engine. This customer is an awesome customer but sometimes people think
that because we are a shop that we can find parts no matter what.  Well if
no one makes the parts anymore there is nothing we can do except what until
they become available.  Which in his car we finally found the parts he
needed and his car was finished and he has his car running great.  I also
invited him to locate the parts he needed.  As we told him we are trying
to locate his parts that had nothing to do with our original job.  We care
about all our customers but sometimes things are out of our hand.  We are
an honest company that does all we can for customers that is why all our
customers have the owners personal cell number which he answers 24/7 so he can
help anytime.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The Engine Builders response was to no surprise altered to appear as though his business did every thing they could to accommodate me. The necessary repairs that were made to the engine were due to the work that was done when engine was replaced. I need to take my vehicle to another place of business to repair the damages caused by faulty mechanical work. Engine rebuilders just made speedy repairs to get me out of there in hopes that it would have lasted through December when my warranty expired. For them to not honor the warranty they promised and to want me to pay an additional $1000 to do the repairs needed plus not warranty the work after completed is absolutely ridiculous. The repairs needed will cost me approximately $500 to $1000 dollars with a warranty by an honest business. A faulty fuel injector would not have caused the damages that were done to the motor in such a short period of time. I believe this company has done this to several other customers, and unfortunate for them, they need their vehicle and have no choice but to pay additional unnecessary fees to retrieve their vehicle.
There is no way I would pay this fly-by-night operation an additional 1000 plus for their mistakes. I believe they should reimburse me the cost to repair the damages caused by this company's failure to insure my vehicle was repaired properly when the keys were handed to me. For an engine to supposedly need replacing after having the vehicle for less than * weeks is unreal, but to expect the customer to pay for it on top of that is ludicrous!

Dear Revdex.com 1). I had made several attempts to contact Engine Builders both by e-mail.  See Below E-Mail Records:  Further I verified their e-mail address by calling them and verifying their e-mail address as listed on their warranty sheet. (SEE ATTACHED)2). The (SEE ATTACHED PDF WARRANTY) provided by Engine Builders at the time I contracted the work to be completed does not exclude their gaskets from the 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty.  I qualify under both of these as there is less than 11K miles on the truck and it is under 2 years.    I have noted two leaks in the motor.  One is an oil leak and the other a header exhaust leak.  Neither of these should have occurred and should be warranted as stated in the attached Engine Builders PDF warranty as neither are listed as a possible exclusion.  My position on this is that Engine Builders should correct this under the warranty. Thank you, [redacted]

We again set forth our position as stated in our first response and add that [redacted] refusal to accept our position based upon his stated reasons for rejection are nothing but his slanderous opinion.  Based upon his prior admission to our shop manager that he doesn’t know much about engines we do not feel he is qualified to respond such as he did.  We invite **
[redacted] to look at his original invoice in which he had stated that he wasn’t sure exactly what happened to his engine and that he thought the oil pump went out and caused internal damage. We ask him to recall the need of a new radiator which indicates the vehicle had gotten hot.   We strongly advise and welcome him to take his vehicle to a credible, knowledgeable shop of his choosing,  and have THEM give him an assessment based upon what they find and not just the side of the story he wants to present.  We ask the particulars of when he put the lift on the vehicle and why the shop who did the lift not inform him that he needed to regear the ratio to accommodate the oversize tires and lift?  Did he fail, yet again,  to not “recall” being told he needed to do additional upgrades for proper usage and the outcome if he did not address the issue appropriately?
We also ask this customer to review his signed warranty with us (attached) that clearly states as well as was gone over with him that  “ Continued operation of the vehicle once an issue has been detected will void warranty”.  As well as further down “Damage caused by lack of proper maintenance as described in the vehicle’s original Maintenance Schedule/Owner’s Manual, failure to follow Maintenance Schedule intervals, or failure to use or maintain proper type and levels of fluid, fuel, oil and lubricants recommended in the Maintenance Schedule/Owner’s Manual or by The Engine Builders.  Proof of proper maintenance is the owner’s responsibility.  Keep all receipts and be prepared to make them available if questions arise about maintenance.”    And “Damage as a result of inadequate fuel delivery or ignition system failure.”
Our decision to not warranty this engine was made solely on the facts he stated to us as to what happened with his daughter and our findings the piston was melted and no compression on the opposite side of the repair that had been done  weeks prior.  It certainly was not due to faulty mechanical work.  It was solely due to his negligence in not following the instructions given him to replace the cold air intake to factory, adding a tuner, getting his gears redone to proper ratio and having his fuel delivery system checked for optimum performance.  Again, the fuel injectors are electrical and his fuel delivery system  has the original miles on it against the 4500 miles of our engine.  Accessories wear and tear just like everything else and when you add in inadequate upgrades and inattention to the dash of a vehicle when it’s flashing a CEL, disaster is sure to follow.  Additionally, everyone is given instructions and both our office and owner cell phone number to CALL US 24/7 in the event a issue arises.  Calling someone who may or may not know the right thing to do can cause further damage.  We did not learn of the problem or what he did about it until it was too late. There is no way we would have advised continued driving of this vehicle under those conditions.
We understand that people are quick to anger especially when something doesn’t go their way.  We also understand that those that are unhappy squawk the loudest while those that are happy rarely set to the internet to post positive reviews of superior customer service.  Both of these instances are highlighted by his oversight in posting positive feedback when we went above and beyond and did not charge him for parts or labor rates for repairs needed outside our warranty on * separate instances prior to his fuel problems.  He was charged our cost for the parts and at less than our shop rate simply because we were not aware of the fuel delivery system failures.  We pride ourselves on not gouging our customers like many shops do.  In fact, he is one of a handful that we have had to void the warranty on and charge for repairs or replacement engines and believe me we don’t like to have to do so but when negligence and non-compliance on the customers part is evident we can not, nor should we be expected to, eat the cost of his actions.
The piston is melted.  He needs a new engine.  We offered to build him one at OUR COST of $1,000.00 plus injectors as needed strictly in the best interest of this customer.   Beyond that, we will not pay anything to anyone for repairs that he rejected from us.

To start we finished his truck 7/3/15 on 7/3/15 around 2 or 3 we called customer to let him know he need a radiator no answer so we left a message. Message saying the radiator was full of sludge and that he needed a new one cost $200 so you know we are not even marking up the cost at all so...

we ordered a new one as no way we will install his old one as it probably was part of the reason his original engine overheated.

Tell us why here...Engine Builders Re Mr. [redacted] We built his Engine on 04/16/2013 a year and half later not right away as he said. He brought it in for a misfire and turned out to be a coil pack in cylinder #2. He has no oil in cooling system. He scraped with his fingernail on inside of...

radiator and say that's oil when all the radiator develops is brown residue, he also replaced the radiator and put wrong coolant in it. He used conventional antifreeze when it should have extended life dexcool. When using conventional antifreeze electrolyses will happen. He came in on 06/25/2014 which was the second time and was determined to be a bad coil. He brought it back 01/05/2015 he said he had oil in radiator (There was no oil in radiator) and he also says he was burning excessive oil (6 quarts) on his way to [redacted]. He gave us his permission to drive his truck, we drove it around 100 miles and didn't burn a bit, had no leaks, no oil in radiator.  If there would to be oil in radiator it would definitely be water in engine oil which it wasn't. We always try to help our customers. He picked up on 01/23/2015. We have also told Mr. [redacted] since day one, to get rid of his aftermarket air cleaner. you can see right through them,it doesn't block dirt and can wear cylinder wall. He stated he likes the look of it and has no plans on changing it. On 04/13/2015 he calls yelling and screaming stating his truck is losing oil and we broke his oil tube. I stated that if we broke his tube, why didn't he call us in January when he picked it up? He stated he hasn't opened his hood since he picked it up. I said.. You say your truck is burning oil 6 quarts in 100 miles and in 4 months you didn't open your hood? Doesn't make sense to me. He brought it back, we checked it at that point Mr. [redacted] broke his oil tube. He picked up on 04/27/2015, he burned his tires out of here making a scene and did 2 tire marks pretty deep. . Greg P[redacted](Owner of The Engine Builders) went to his house to talk to him. Greg checked his oil and was full. Mr. [redacted] says he hasn't opened his hood in 4 months and no oil added, so it's not burning oil as he thinks. Even though his warranty is over in miles and date, while at his house he tried telling me we scratched up his truck, we had it parked in the same spot as it was dropped off. We have had over 1,000 cars in lot and yet have we had any cars with scratches specially all over. He then started yelling at me when his wife came out so I started to leave as I'm walking away Mr. [redacted] hit me in the back, I turned my head and said don't do that again. I got into my truck and he started yelling that if I didn't give him a new engine he will ruin my business. He's lucky I didn't press assault charges. So to conclude he did this to a shop prior to us. He claimed he had problems when warranty was almost up. Doing the same with us. Truck is not burning oil, no oil in radiator or exhaust, he also stated he hasn't opened hood from 01/23/15 to 04/13/2015 and was still full of oil and to this date yeti have seen a plug fouled from his engine. He also replaced his radiator a while after we did engine did he over heat it? Mr. [redacted] also told Greg the truck runs great.

RE: Complaint ID [redacted]

We first had contact with the vehicle in November 2012. During our build process we found that his motor mount was broken and the other not long behind it.   We do not believe in selling stuff to people that they don’t need and won’t...

without first calling the customer with details for approval.  Soon after he picked his vehicle up he called angry saying we did not put the bolts in the mount.  We knew we had so agreed to stop by his house on our way to Tucson and check it.  We agreed to return the following day and replace the bolt.  4 months later he was angry that there was ticking and smoke coming from his exhaust.  We went to Casa Grande and drove his vehicle back.  We found exhaust leaks and replaced both drives and passenger sides exhaust manifold gaskets.   The exhaust gasket is not included in the warranty, however, we replaced them at no charge to the vehicle owner.  This vehicle has a fuel management system which turns on and off lifters and we replaced one of each the active and non active lifters.   There was still an occasional tick that was came and went.  We were unable to track it down.  The only way would have been to tear the engine apart and even then it may not have been found so the only solution would be to build another engine and offered to do so if his issue didn’t resolve.  At this time the customer told us he had a new transmission put in it was leaking from the seal or converter.  A couple months later he calls us very angry and when I became frustrated and angry by how he was treating me I told him Hey I’m trying to help you then he screamed [redacted] You [redacted] and hung up on me.  They wanted a rental car for the time we had his truck and when told no he pulled the plug on the swap and said he’d just take us to court.  We were trying to do our part only to be met with hostility, anger, threats and intimidation.  A couple weeks later they called to schedule the swap and we did so.  There have been no issues reported until now.

He states that [redacted] said the mounts had never been changed and advised us of the damage to the power steering system and insists we are responsible for the cost and repair of his damaged parts.  We agreed to tow the vehicle in for our own inspection.

The damage to the motor mount and subsequent damage to the power steering rack was not caused as is his claim, by faulty work.  What we did find is the Suspension Arm on the drivers side, the same side as the mount, is broken, it’s most likely cause being the truck has a high lift and oversized tires.  Lifts and tires such as his creates additional  stress to the suspension and wears everything out faster.  The mounts carry a limited lifetime warranty, however it is only covered if it is a failure of the actual mount, not damage caused by an outside source such as the broken suspension.  They will not cover it and neither are we.  An independent shop has assessed this vehicle and have agreed to our findings as well as the cause and effect of the damage.  A copy of their report as well as an estimate for repair is on file.  Pictures of the broken suspension are also on file.

Every conversation with the vehicle owner is loud, mean, and abusive.  Reasonable discussion is impossible as he can’t see through his natural hostility to a resolution.

We have gone above and beyond to help this customer just as we have for all of our customers.   We have accrued costs in the interest of customer satisfaction and have endured continual abusive behavior.  Should there be internal mechanical failure of this long block during the remainder of the warranty period we will be more than happy to do our part. We will not be held responsible for the current damages and will not absorb any costs of such.

As always, contacts us if further information is needed.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed...

appear below.

I find it very very pathetic and unprofessional that you [redacted] being the owner can respond to this website ...but you can't seem to pick up a phone and return any of my calls I am amazed this is how you conduct your business I waited 6  days since you wrote that reply back basically stating that I was to blame for this whole mess maybe if you conducted your business better and actually have some kind of communication with your customers this wouldn't be happening and let's get this Straight [redacted] your shortage of employees isnt my problem nor do I really care that's your problem not mine you said my car would be done in a timely manner explain timely matter [redacted] when will my car be done I want an exact date

You had the car since the beginning of October how much more time can you possibly need

Regards,

Our shop hours are Monday thru Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. We are a business and as required by fire codes our doors must remain unlocked during business hours.  The first and

subsequent times he has come to our shop he didn't knock on the door. he opened it and came right on in so we are a little confused why he would start knocking now. For the last months or so we have even had the door open all day.  We have never refused a customer from seeing their vehicle at any time.

Thanks
