Dear [redacted],Finally they came and installed this morning around 8:40am. The rail was made nicely, installed properly and glazed. Paid him the balance of $1,250.00 on check#[redacted].Me and my wife are very thankful of your help. We did not have much to turn to aside from getting a lawyer. Your mediation was very helpful because before he left he said he did not want to tarnish his name.Again we appreciate whatever you did for us.Sincerely yours,[redacted]

Review: We entered into contract#[redacted] (attached) with [redacted] of The Forger of N.Y. on August **, 2014 to fabricate and install an indoor wrought iron rail costing $2,500.00 with 50% down payment. We paid combined cash for $700.00 and check# [redacted] for $550.00 on the same day with promise finish date in three weeks. September passed and no news whatsoever, then we started calling in October. Phone is answered either by machine or sometimes by the office lady named [redacted] who was not much of help because she claimed all jobs status are only known by [redacted]. One time in October [redacted] return our call that the railing was scheduled for galvanizing in New Jersey prior to painting. One week later made a follow up only to hear that it was postponed and will let us know when its ready. After a couple of days we started calling again and as usual answered by machine if not by [redacted] who has no other reply except to check with [redacted].One day in November [redacted] return our call that they will be installing the rail on Nov. [redacted]. Called twice on Friday, Nov. [redacted] to follow up nobody answered left messages as usual. Then in December [redacted] return our call that they will install on the week of Jan. [redacted]. We were very hopeful since [redacted] himself said it. The week came nothing happen made follow up calls left messages and since then we have not heard from anybody. At this point any help is very much appreciated.Sincerely,[redacted]Desired Settlement: Refund or finish the job.

Review: The Forger of NY was recommended to my husband & me by neighbors when we were looking to install new railings to our small stoop. Our neighbor told us that they were high priced but produced the highest quality design & work product. We had just spent a large amount of money rebuilding the front of our brick house so felt that it was worth it to spend extra money for a quality railing. On Thursday 2/**/13 at around 10AM we called the firm’s phone number and the owner [redacted] & his colleague [redacted] happened to have been in the neighborhood and came right over to our home. We looked at some railing designs in a design book they brought in from their truck and they helped us with the details based on the specific dimensions of our front stoop and our desired look. We gave a 50% deposit of $1,300 and they told us they would be done with the work in 7-10 days and we could then decide on the particular brown color & finish. As a receipt we were given a hand written receipt on a page of the company’s design pad. It contained a drawing of the railing design including the dimensions and a hand written notation on the lower left hand section containing the full amount and the amount of the deposit. (The deposit check was cashed on 2/**/13 as per canceled check.) We did not hear from them for a couple of weeks so I called on 3/**/13 to enquire on the status of the railing. The receptionist told us me could come in anytime to look at the railings & decide on the color so the next day my husband went to their place of business pick a plain brown matte color but he commented to me later that evening that he never actually saw our railing. On 3/**, my husband called the Forger to see when they would be ready to install the railing and they said due to rain in the forecast for that Saturday 3/**/13, it would be deferred to the following weekend. On Saturday afternoon of 3/**/13 we called the Forger again to see if they were coming to install the railings but no one answered the phone. We left a message but never received a call back. On 4/**/13 we called again, left another message but no one called us back. By Saturday 4/**/13, we called again and spoke to the receptionist and expressed our frustration with 1) the complete lack of any proactive communications from the company and 2) the railings were supposed to be produced and installed in March and we still have not had any indication that we were getting close to an installation. She said she would be really angry herself if this were happening to her and said that someone would most likely call us back on Monday 4/**/13 because they close early on Saturdays. No one called us that Monday. I called again on the morning of 5/*/13 to enquire as to the status of the railing installation and the reception told us that someone would call us in 10-15 minutes. Four hours later, I placed another call...still no response. At that point, I left them a message on their voicemail that I would like a response. Later that afternoon, I spoke to their receptionist explaining that we would gladly go to another forger but want our deposit back. The owner called me right back and said that he would be over that next Saturday 5/*/13 with the deposit check and railing so we could choose what course of action to take. They didn’t show up on 5/*/13. I called the following Thursday 5/*/13, about the refund of our deposit and they said we should have it in a couple of days. I called again 5/**/13 and asked about the status of our deposit but no one answered the phone. On Saturday 5/**/13 at 10 AM without any warning, [redacted] and his crew from the Forger showed up with the railings. The quality was terrible and certainly nowhere close to what they promised or the premium we paid for. First, the paint was still tacky & globbed on in spots. When you touched it you left fingerprints so I can only imagine the marks that were left by the straps holding it onto the open backed truck. The decorative pieces did not line up spindle to spindle, welding slags were not removed, welds were not smooth and overall very poor quality finishing work. We told them that we could not accept the railing and were still interested in a return of our deposit. We took pictures of some of the railing issues. At 10:30AM on the same day [redacted] called to tell us he was coming by with our deposit on Tuesday May [redacted], 2013. The check never came so we called again on 5/**/13 and 6/*/13 to enquire about the deposit. The receptionist took the information on both occasions and promised us a call back with more information. Finally, about 10 minutes after my call on 6/*/13 [redacted] called me back to tell me our deposit would be delivered within two or three days. It is now June [redacted]. I have call every one to three days since 6/* but no one every picks up the phone so I now have no alternative but to take the Forger of NY to small claims court.Desired Settlement: We would like our deposit of $1,300 refunded.

Review: The above business owner was hired to construct metal railing for interior

Staircase in my house in 4-6 weeks from 3/**/14.

He only showed up to get deposit of $6000 and disappeared

Afterwards. Until today he has never even measured the stairs

Nor provided me with any kind of design ideas.

After his failure to present any drawings even after 6 weeks

I requested back my deposit. He said that will refund it, but

Stopped answering my phone calls. My friend who recommended

Him asked for the deposit refund also. He scheduled it twice but

Never showed up or answered her calls either.

Now, when my contract with him already expired, I had to hire other people

To do the work. I have two small children who cannot use staircase without

Appropriate railings. It is impossible to contact this guy since he is not answerng

My calls most of the time. When he answers he says yes for refund but fails to

Show up.

Please help

Review: Two Contracts were signed on October **,2013 ([redacted] & [redacted]), for railings and doors. The work was to be completed within "3-4 weeks" "before Christmas".There were two good faith deposits made: $3100.00 for contract #[redacted] and $1100.00for contract [redacted].It is now April *, 2014 - we have not heard from any one - Either no one answers the phone (I have called every day for a week) or the message mail box is full. They also do not respond to any email contacts to their web-site.I stopped by the site - one worker was in the shop, when I asked about seeing someone, all he said was "sorry closed", when I asked when someone would be hers - he shrugged his shoulders. I left a business card with the worker and asked if he would give it to the boss. He took the card and placed it in his pocket.Desired Settlement: I would like them to contact me and set-up the installation of the railings and doors. This work includes three houses with three different owners. We all want the work to be completed

Sincerely,

Review: This company took a deposit for over $8,000 worth of Iron work in October 2013.

As of today (05/**/2014), they still have not delivered.

The contract said that the installation would be done "before Christmas". Every-time we tried to contact them - there was an excuse - they were waiting for another company to galvanize the pieces, or it was too cold to work or some other weather related issues.

I attempted to contact the company again starting in March. Left 22 messages on the answering machine over a period of 2 weeks - no reply.

I went to the factory - no one was there, I asked one of the workers where everybody was - his reply was I do not know we are closed.

I since contacted the Revdex.com and suddenlyI received a phone call from a cell phone. [redacted]) promised he would get back to me with a start date. Seems that 6 months later he was still waiting for pieces to be galvanized.

Once I told him I WOULD be starting legal action, he promised me he would do the job within 2 weeks. (by May [redacted]). When the deadline was reached he asked for another weeks extension. When May * came around - no phone call nor iron railings. When I finally contacted him he promised to come in two weeks because he still had two pieces that needed to be galvanized. He stated that he come on Thursday (May **) - no show. He called and promised to come on Saturday May [redacted] between 8-8:30. NO SHOW

When I finally got through to him he said he got stuck at the shop and would be here at 10:00. He did not show up until 11:00. He left immediately and had his men start to work. His men drilled Pilot -holes for the railings (worked for 2 hours) and they left by 2:00. When [redacted] left, he promised he would be back today (Tuesday May [redacted]) and finish everything by tomorrow Wednesday (May [redacted]).

I started calling him at 9:00AM - No answer left messages. I called 3 times - He finally called back at 10:15, said he was on the way to the shop and would call me back "in a few Minutes" - he finally called at 11:30. Now he cannot come until Thursday (May [redacted]), he promised he would work Thursday, Friday and Saturday and complete the job.

Let us see what excuse he has on Thursday morning!Desired Settlement: It would be nice to have a complete job - along with an adjustment on the price - He has had our money for over 8 months.

I do not know what other options I have - this company should be chastised and or fined in some way.
