The Geekz Reviews (41)

I would like to take this time to thank Tracy and Davis for the excellent service they provide for me .They were both very professional, kind, and generous with their time and service.. I would definite recommend them and their service provider.

I am happy with the services provided by Geekz. They were thorough and knowledgeable...spent a lot of time troubleshooting my computer. Now my old computer runs like new! Very satisfied. Didnt cost a fortune.

Review: April 2015 I had a message from Microsoft that locked up my computer & when I call the 800 number I discovered it wasn't Microsoft but a scam. In my haste I thought I was calling the [redacted] which I have a 3 year tech support contract with. I accidently called The Geekz & they told me they needed my credit card to verify for security purposes and never said it was for tech support contract. After signing and sending back I realized it was not the [redacted] and called back twice immediately, one to the general number and one to a supervisor's number. The rep was unavailable and I Ieft a message for the super visor. I never heard back from the Geekz until I filed a dispute in July. Since my computer was still locked up I took my laptop to the [redacted] to unlock and clear the bug from my computer. I put in a dispute with my credit card carrier and The Geekz said I never called to cancel, they tried calling me many times and left a voice message which is a lie. Gary R[redacted], a manager called me back and said they could not refund my money of $200 because they had to pay a fine of $100 each to my bank last April 2015 and again July 2015 for my dispute I filed. I only filed a dispute in July so that is another lie this company told. My credit card carrier checked and sees no payments made back to my account . When I call the 800 number I get the "run around" and Gary R[redacted] was rude to me. When I did a conference call with Mr R[redacted] and my credit card carrier he had a different attitude but when he called me direct he was disrespectful. I believe this company "piggybacks" off the reputable name of the [redacted] This company took my money and DID NOTHING to fix my laptop then acts like I'm the one trying to cheat them. I have proof that the [redacted] fixed my laptop so if the Geekz says they fixed my laptop why did I have to have the [redacted] unlock it so I could use it? As I said, I already had a 3 year plan with the [redacted] why would I want another plan with the Geekz which is not local to me? I might also mention that I have an excellent credit rating and very responsible so I'm always paying my bills on time & if Geekz did the work I WOULD HAVE PAID for the service. I want others to know that this company doesn't have the best interest at heart for their customer and seem only to care about the money they can get out of you for no work!Desired Settlement: Would be great to get a $200 refund but I'm sure they would lie so I just want other to be cautious of using this business. I have an excellent credit rating and want to make sure this underhanded company doesn't dirty my score.

Thank you for you time.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved becauseThour Answer Here]

The Geekz did not fix my laptop,if they did why did I have to take it to the [redacted] on April **, 2015 to unlock my laptop & clean the virus so I could use it. I called the same day I originally spoke with the Geekz to cancel but they NEVER returned my call. Since I filed a dispute with the Geekz they have been giving me excuses when I asked for details. They lied to me and told me they paid my bank $100 in April 2015 and again in July 2015 and never provided documentation to validate. This is the reason they told me they wouldn't refund the $200 as they paid my bank. They lied saying they tried calling me many times & left a voice message which they did not do and since I have only a cell phone I carry with me I certainly would not have ignored a call I was waiting to get from the Geekz. Now they are changing their story and saying I got my laptop repaired which they didn't do. I am not asking for my money back just want to make sure others are not caught up in this business who seem to twist the truth to make themselves appear fair and honest and their so called customers ignorant. I am offended by the poor treatment I received from this company and take great pride in my credit rating and being a responsible & honest person. If I can save just one person from the stress this company has given me, this complaint has served its purpose. Thank you.

Review: I called them on 4/** actually believing that they were [redacted] (which was my fault). I had a very simple question, or so I thought, about how to synch my Mac with my wireless printer scanner. I made the big mistake of allowing one of their "technicians" to log into my PC remotely and after feigning working on the issue, I was informed that my PC was infected with a virus that allowed the perpetrator to view all of the information that I input. I was even shown a page on my computer screen that supposedly detailed evidence of the intrusion. They then tried to sell me $849 [redacted] software to install after they removed the virus and when I indicated that I was stunned by the price, they offered it to me for $499. I was suspicious but I thought that I was on the phone with [redacted] so in my state of semi-panic, I made the purchase. I found out in subsequent phone conversations that afternoon with [redacted], whose security software I have on my Mac, as well as [redacted]'s customer support, that the virus claim, why it occurred, how it was actually done and needed to be removed, were all fabrications and fraudulent. In fact, the virus and it's method of delivery weren't even possible given the standard configuration of [redacted] computers. The Client Agreement form that The Geekz provided and I unfortunately signed, obviously without reading, is riddled with grammatical errors and broken English. While they claim to be in [redacted], of the many employees who I've spoken with in fighting this issue, only one didn't have what sounded like an [redacted] accent. Odd for a small company in [redacted]. Not surprisingly, the amount of conflicting information that I've received is absurd. It's a text book scam operation if ever there was one and I would love to see the company investigated.Desired Settlement: While it says on the agreement I signed that no refunds are allowed and that I won't dispute the charge (I don't recall hearing that one before), they did offer to give me 40% back which is certainly a strange number and policy for a supposedly legitimate business. Of course, that was after someone else at their company promised me a full refund.Refund

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

Well, not surprisingly, despite being told six days ago that I would be issued a $200 refund, nothing has been posted to my account. Please don't be misled by the $15/hour that they charged me for their technician's "services". I was quoted $50 (total) for the job of repairing my PC which they claim took three hours. However, that was the end result only because I argued with a representative who, after the "job" was completed, said that the $50 was per hour and not in total which was never conveyed to me in any way, shape, or form. So, if I don't receive my $200 refund by the close of business on Monday, I'm going to contact [redacted], the ** Attorney General's Office, and then expose them on social media.Thank you.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I chose to select that my complaint has not been resolved because after several conversations with the company (the last one with [redacted]), this is the first that I've heard of a check being issued. During every conversation I was told that the refund would go back to my credit card. So, I'm skeptical and prepared to take further actions if there are any further delays, whatever the "reason".

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

To whom it may concern,
I want someone to know how great [redacted] and [redacted] were handling my computer. So, I hope who ever is in charge gets this note that [redacted] and [redacted] were finest people I've dealt with regarding my computers. I say this fact that I have no computer knowledge so what a relive to find some body so great to help.
Regards
[redacted].

I was again assisted by [redacted] today helping to resolve my computer issues. [redacted] was very patient and courteous while helping me. My computer proved to be a great problem and he persisted until he found a proper resolve. I enjoyed working with your company and I will continue in the future because of the quality of service I received from [redacted]. I will recommend this company to my family and friends.

Review: my laptop was making a loud alarm noise and wouldn't stop unless I called the geekz # for them to fix my computer and remove my viruses. I even turned it off and on, and the noise would not stop. They charged me $199.99 to fix a "fake" problem that they created. My son looked into it and realized that I was scammed by them. They had done that to other's and if I had shut down my computer for a day or so, it would have stopped. Then after reading your complaints from other's, I noticed similarities. Even the guy supposedly fixing it telling me that I sounded young. Apparently that's part of their scam to get us to feel flattered and comfortable and therefore, trust them. My laptop was fine, and I paid them to stop a noise that they created.Desired Settlement: I want my $199.99 refunded as it was a scam!

Very satisfied. [redacted] was extremely helpful and a pleasure working with. I highly recommend this company.

This company was excellent to deal with. The employees were willing to stop and help us out in a pinch/emergency late on a Friday evening, which allowed us to keep an important family commitment to my elderly dad.
They also educated us as to what they were doing so we did not feel like we were out of the loop, so to speak.

Very Happy with the service. I'm Jumping in the air!
Thank you!!!!!! [redacted] was wonderful and hope to work with him in the future.

I appreciate so much the help Jim has provided me. He was so patient and knowledgable as well as having a wonderful sense of humor. The entire experience was wonderful and all my problems solved without any problems.

Davis was wonderful and very helpful for a technology impaired person.

[redacted] was a big help to me. He restored all my drives, cleaned my viruses and hackers off of my computer. He downloaded applications that I wanted and was very pleasant to talk to. I have enjoyed my experience very much! He doesn't make me feel like this was all my fault. He is very professional. My hats off to your company for hiring such a fine young man.

[redacted] and [redacted] were very helpful, and I learned alot in the process, would highly recommend this service, and very pleased, [redacted] if you need a scarf email me.

I have been working with these guys all evening and they have done a great job fixing my problems and cleaning my computer. I will bye upgrading soon so they can take care of all my devices.

Review: I paid $199.99 for what I was told was malware on my brand new computer and they would clean it up and install anti virus software.

What I got was a even more messed up computer after 4 days of communicating and them taking over my computer through citrix online. I ended up taking it to Office Depot where I bought it who told me Geekz put more damaging software on my computer and I had to pay Office Depot 120.00 to completely clear computer and start over and put a antivirus to keep scams like Geekz from overtaking my computer again. I would like a refund of 199.99 to cover expenses and stress that this company has caused me.Desired Settlement: Refund of 199.00 for not repairing but further damage to new computer.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: My Name is [redacted]. On 6/**/15, my computer totally stopped working and a drop down menu gave your phone number. I was told I had a Trojan Horse virus. They showed me, by opening and closing various windows how everything was stopped. I happened to notice everything stopped when your company showed up on my screen. I asked if this was [redacted] and was told that you were the company working for [redacted]. Thus, misrepresentation and fraudulent claim. You then gave me prices for fixing everything and proceeded to open more windows showing me how you were Revdex.com approved, and proceeded to open and close different windows before I had a chance to read any of them. You stated that I could purchase the whole package, including a cloud. I specifically stated I did not want a cloud as I had a ** personal cloud. We went through this a number of times, and you assured me that you would not give me your cloud. I then came to find out that not only had you put your cloud on my computer, you put it on with a password unknown to myself. I could not even uninstall it.

I finally got a chance to check with the Revdex.com and found out that similar complaints had been placed. Even [redacted] has video complaining about you.

Therefore, the agreement that I had to sign, stating that I had no recourse because the service had already been received, which services had started, but not continued until after you received the signed agreement, was yet another misrepresentation.

Inasmuch as the facts stated above render the agreement null and void, I want you to give me the password the cloud you out on my computer and a credit of my $299.98 immediately, without delay. As a matter of fact, one of the complaints with the Revdex.com even stated that they were given a timeframe in which they could get a full refund. I was never given such an opportunity. Did you forget to mention that, or did you figure that since I was older and retired, you had yourself a pigeon?

Please see that this is expedited as soon as possible.

cc: Revdex.com of New YorkDesired Settlement: I want a full refund and the password so that I can delete the cloud that they installed in my computer.

Sincerely,

talked with 2 VERY helpful gentlemen. They we patient and suggested what I needed to do for the best use of my computer. Pleasure working with them [redacted] and [redacted] both!

great service and it was worth it

Review: On 9/**/15 I received a message on my lap top stating that my computer was infected with a virus. The number that came up belonged to The Geekz. 'Drake Woods' talked/scared me into a $499.99 plan that would cover network protection, removal of the malware, repair of my software, clean up, "Cloud Care" and tech support. Both he and his manager commented on 'how young I sounded', which is not professional! The Geekz called to confirm payment that evening and I asked at that time if all the work had been completed. They assured me that it had!

I left a message for 'Drake Woods' on his voicemail in late December, as I felt my computer was running a bit slow and acting strange, and may need another "cleaning". 'Drake' NEVER returned my call!

On 1/*/16 I received yet another message on my computer stating that it was infected with a virus. This time the number was not for The Geekz, rather a company called "[redacted]". [redacted] said there were over 9000 viruses on my computer and told me The Geekz had not done what they said they would do, because my computer was badly infected!!. I called The Geekz and explained the situation to 'Roy'. 'Raul' was the tech who worked on my computer for 6 hours on 1/*/16! He said the work had NOT BEEN COMPLETED on 9/**/15! I was told by Raul that "pending installation of the security software, they lost control when it restarted so it was never installed and the infections came back"!! Raul claimed that they had called me several times to contact me. I demanded to see the records of those calls, for I NEVER received a call from them (other than for them to confirm payment on 9/**/15). I have caller i.d and know every call that comes in. He got flustered when I demanded to speak with his manager.

'Steve', the manager, apologized several times and said that the work was not done and they could not refund my money because it had been past the 15 day grace period. I told him that on 9/[redacted]/15 they assured me that it had been completed and now he was saying it wasn't done.

I asked if my phone was okay, because it is synced with my computer which had been infected. He said it was "[redacted]". He did not check my smart phone.

He said the other company ([redacted]) was trying to scam me by saying I had over 9000 viruses because they "only removed 114 viruses"!

'Steve' offered me free support for 3 yrs on my phone, printer, tablet, etc... He guaranteed me that my calls would be top priority and if I ever needed to contact them, to call or email him directly and they would take care of me first.

On 1/**/16 my smart phone received a message that a virus had infected my phone and had corrupted my battery and SIM card. I emailed 'Steve' (at the email he provided) at 2:14pm on 1/**/16. I called him and left urgent detailed messages at 2:52pm and 3:23p on 1/**/16.

I went to the Geek Squad (Best Buy) on 1/**/16 and they suggested I do a factory reset of my computer as The Geekz had installed strange and unusual hardware on my computer that couldn't be guaranteed safe. They also said that smart phones do not get viruses, that it is a scam to get you to call the number and have them rope you into paying for their protection plan and anti-virus software. The Geek Squad suggested I do a factory reset of my phone.

I finally received an email reply from The Geekz at 7:25pm on 1/**/16....after I'd already taken care of the issues myself!

I want nothing more to do with The Geekz company! They did NOT do what they said they would do! My computer sat vulnerable for 3+ months (after they received payment of $499.99 to clean and remove malware from my computer). I paid for a service for them to "protect" my smart phone, which they wouldn't even look into on 1/*/16 because they claimed my computer was "clean" now, only to find out later that smart phones don't even get infected.

I'm tired of the lies and the run around. [redacted] called The Geekz a scam. The Geekz called [redacted] a scam. The one thing I know for sure is that both companies are scaring the public and making plenty of money doing so. I want the FULL amount refunded ($499.99)!!Desired Settlement: I am seeking to be refunded $499.99. The Geekz did not do the work they were paid for on 9/21/15. My computer was infected with over 100 viruses as a result. They did not IMMEDIATELY respond to my calls or email as promised by the manager 'Steve'. They are an untrustworthy company!!!
