Review: On 9/**/15 I received a message on my lap top stating that my computer was infected with a virus. The number that came up belonged to The Geekz. 'Drake Woods' talked/scared me into a $499.99 plan that would cover network protection, removal of the malware, repair of my software, clean up, "Cloud Care" and tech support. Both he and his manager commented on 'how young I sounded', which is not professional! The Geekz called to confirm payment that evening and I asked at that time if all the work had been completed. They assured me that it had!
I left a message for 'Drake Woods' on his voicemail in late December, as I felt my computer was running a bit slow and acting strange, and may need another "cleaning". 'Drake' NEVER returned my call!
On 1/*/16 I received yet another message on my computer stating that it was infected with a virus. This time the number was not for The Geekz, rather a company called "[redacted]". [redacted] said there were over 9000 viruses on my computer and told me The Geekz had not done what they said they would do, because my computer was badly infected!!. I called The Geekz and explained the situation to 'Roy'. 'Raul' was the tech who worked on my computer for 6 hours on 1/*/16! He said the work had NOT BEEN COMPLETED on 9/**/15! I was told by Raul that "pending installation of the security software, they lost control when it restarted so it was never installed and the infections came back"!! Raul claimed that they had called me several times to contact me. I demanded to see the records of those calls, for I NEVER received a call from them (other than for them to confirm payment on 9/**/15). I have caller i.d and know every call that comes in. He got flustered when I demanded to speak with his manager.
'Steve', the manager, apologized several times and said that the work was not done and they could not refund my money because it had been past the 15 day grace period. I told him that on 9/[redacted]/15 they assured me that it had been completed and now he was saying it wasn't done.
I asked if my phone was okay, because it is synced with my computer which had been infected. He said it was "[redacted]". He did not check my smart phone.
He said the other company ([redacted]) was trying to scam me by saying I had over 9000 viruses because they "only removed 114 viruses"!
'Steve' offered me free support for 3 yrs on my phone, printer, tablet, etc... He guaranteed me that my calls would be top priority and if I ever needed to contact them, to call or email him directly and they would take care of me first.
On 1/**/16 my smart phone received a message that a virus had infected my phone and had corrupted my battery and SIM card. I emailed 'Steve' (at the email he provided) at 2:14pm on 1/**/16. I called him and left urgent detailed messages at 2:52pm and 3:23p on 1/**/16.
I went to the Geek Squad (Best Buy) on 1/**/16 and they suggested I do a factory reset of my computer as The Geekz had installed strange and unusual hardware on my computer that couldn't be guaranteed safe. They also said that smart phones do not get viruses, that it is a scam to get you to call the number and have them rope you into paying for their protection plan and anti-virus software. The Geek Squad suggested I do a factory reset of my phone.
I finally received an email reply from The Geekz at 7:25pm on 1/**/16....after I'd already taken care of the issues myself!
I want nothing more to do with The Geekz company! They did NOT do what they said they would do! My computer sat vulnerable for 3+ months (after they received payment of $499.99 to clean and remove malware from my computer). I paid for a service for them to "protect" my smart phone, which they wouldn't even look into on 1/*/16 because they claimed my computer was "clean" now, only to find out later that smart phones don't even get infected.
I'm tired of the lies and the run around. [redacted] called The Geekz a scam. The Geekz called [redacted] a scam. The one thing I know for sure is that both companies are scaring the public and making plenty of money doing so. I want the FULL amount refunded ($499.99)!!Desired Settlement: I am seeking to be refunded $499.99. The Geekz did not do the work they were paid for on 9/21/15. My computer was infected with over 100 viruses as a result. They did not IMMEDIATELY respond to my calls or email as promised by the manager 'Steve'. They are an untrustworthy company!!!
