This client had done business with us twice before, in 2013 and 2014. Since that time, we have updated our data entry system and had to input many old clients manually. Somehow this former client's contact information made its way back into our system again by mistake. We have marked him "DO NOT CONTACT" in our new system so it should not be a problem anymore going forward.

Please keep our company and myself out of your records.

Hello,

I paid $650 to have an ad for my real estate business advertised by the Golf Almanac. They told me that I would have the inside cover page of the directories for several local country clubs, including the Greenwich Country Club and Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, CT.

However, what I received in the mail were not directories, but 5 copies of the Golf Almanac and not directories.

I would like to complain that I received false advertising and was deceived into purchasing an ad in something that was not a directory and is useful for my marketing purposes.
Product_Or_Service: Advertising space in country clubs in Greenwich CT

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like to receive a full refund for the $650 I paid for this advertisement.

There is no instance of false advertising here. The very first line of our very first contact with *** is, "My company is publishing BUSINESS directories...", which is precisely what we do. The Golf Almanac contains articles of interest for golfers, as well as a business directory which is located in the back of each book, and references businesses ads throughout the book with their corresponding page numbers. We do not, and would not ever claim to provide the private contact information of club members to our advertisers. We are not sure how the client came to believe this was so, but it was never suggested by us. Please find the attached emails for history of correspondence. It's all right there. Thank you.

My experience working with this magazine was superb. Salesperson Mike was straightforward and put me in touch with graphics dept, and sent my paperwork explaining purchase details right away. Design team was very friendly and build me a really nice ad the same day - it looks great! Hoping to pick up some privately clients with my exposure in the country / golf clubs in my area. This is the high-end market I want for my business.

We are happy to hear of your good experience with us, ***! Thank you for your review!

On February 6, 2018 I was contacted via phone by *** at The Golf Almanac, who left this voicemail for me: "Hi, good afternoon ***, it's *** and I'm calling in regards to the Valhalla Golf Club. I can be reached at (XXX) XXX-XXXX." Since I am familiar with Valhalla Golf Club, and *** called my business line, I thought the message was from a potential client, so when he called back again a short while later I answered the call.

I spoke to *** briefly, and once I started asking questions about the publication, he transferred me to someone else named *** explained to me that The Golf Almanac is a publication distributed at many local golf & country clubs, and that a new issue is published every six weeks, containing golf course maps, directories, etc.

Since my business is a professional massage therapy practice tailored toward athletes, injury recovery, and pain management, I thought it seemed like a good idea to place an ad with The Golf Almanac. *** promised me an excellent deal. He told me that although the usual cost for a full page ad was $1000, he could get me a really good deal if I went ahead and "paid over the phone now." Garry proceeded to tell me he could even get me a "full page color ad placed within the first 5 pages" of each issue, for only $500 instead of $1000!!! I agreed, as it would be a relatively inexpensive way to gain more professional golf clientele.

*** then asked for my credit card and billing information, which I provided over the phone, and my card was immediately billed for $500 (at 3:57PM EST). At no point during our phone conversation (lasting from 3:39PM - 3:55PM EST) did Garry advise me of any cancellation policy. I repeat, I WAS NEVER ADVISED OF ANY CANCELLATION POLICY PRIOR TO BEING CHARGED. After our phone call ended, I received an email at 4:08PM EST from The Golf Almanac containing a "Docu-sign" receipt for my already processed transaction, and an ad contract that was also NOT previously mentioned. Since I had already paid for the ad, I hastily signed the documents and sent them back via Docu-sign, as I was excited to hurry and get my ad published.

The following day, February 7, 2018, I had a nagging feeling that something wasn't right, so I began to do some research. First, I called ALL SIX country clubs that The Golf Almanac purportedly distributes their publication, and spoke to the clubs' managers. According to each club's manager, their club has never carried, nor have they even heard of this publication; yet my ad was allegedly to be placed in The Golf Almanac's "Louisville, KY *3rd Edition*."

This seemed particularly odd to me, so I turned to the internet to further investigate. The Golf Almanac, owned by Priority One Marketing Group, LLC (formerly Platinum Publishing, LLC?), has been scamming local businesses across the country for years, designing fake ads and emailing them to business owners, promising an ad campaign that is never delivered. Reviews and warnings from their past victims are posted on the Revdex.com [https://www.Revdex.com.org/south-east-florida/business-reviews/marketing-consul... and all over the internet if you perform a quick search.

With this knowledge, I called back Garry Marsh at The Golf Almanac to cancel my ad order. It was at this time that *** started acting nervous, and kept asking why I wanted to cancel my ad. I told him I did not want to place an ad with The Golf Almanac at this time, and asked for a refund. *** said "That is above my pay-grade. I will have my manager give you a call back later today." To this day, (over 5 months later) no one has ever called me back, and I want a full refund of the $500 I was charged.

Hello ***,

These books were mailed out to the six clubs on April 5th, 2018, and all were confirmed received by the clubs by April 9th, 2018. Please follow this link for the shipping and received receipts ***
One thing you may have missed, while perusing all the untruths about us on the internet, is the very first paragraph of our Revdex.com business page. It states that our publication goes through the pro shops in these clubs, and often times the front office of the club has no awareness of that. They are dealing with their members and events and things of that nature, and are too busy to be caught up with what publications may or may not be available in their pro shops; something that could've been easily cleared up had you picked up the phone rather than filing a chargeback right away.
Secondly, we have a well-written, clearly-stated contract, which you signed, that informs our clients of what we promise to deliver as well as what is expected of them. There are clear statements of our policy, "no cancellations are accepted" directly beneath your signature.
We built you a beautiful ad which appears on page 11 of the publication, and these books have been in the clubs for the past 3 months. Yet, you filed a chargeback against us two days after purchase on February 8th, 2018, which was closed in our favor. You then filed an arbitration against us on March 22nd, 2018, which was also closed in our favor. Your ad is in the book, the books are in the clubs. We have held up our end of the bargain despite your attempts to break the contract and now, to sully our name.
I would advise you in the future not to believe everything you read on the internet. Most of the negative comments you might read about us online are from impatient customers who have not been in contact with us and came to their own, erroneous conclusions. The production process for a publication of this nature takes time. You filed a chargeback two days after purchasing your ad which we had already begun work on. Are we to spend our time creating top-shelf advertisement for your company without being compensated?
The bottom line here is that we provided a service, which we are still providing to this day, and we expect to be paid for our work. Even your credit card company agrees with us. Follow this link *** for the official statement from the credit card processor showing that the chargeback/arbitration was closed in our favor, and we, the merchant, will retain the funds of the disputed transaction. Again, we wish you the best of luck with your ad and we will not be contacting you again in the future.

I was in search of some where to put in an ad in for my company, but I didn't want to waste money on something that wouldn't target my audience correctly. I came across the golf almanac and thought it would be a perfect fit. Not only was it a perfect fit, but the customer service when putting my ad together with them was phenomenal. The graphics department got back to me within very reasonable time and was eager to answer any questions I had. They were more then helpful with anything that I needed. I look forward to doing more business with them in the future.

Hi ***

Thank you for your review! It was our pleasure to serve you. We look forward to bringing you some new business this year and we'll see you again next year! Have a great day!

I could not be more pleased with my experience with this company. I have been purchasing ads with them for years and each time, the ad winds up paying for itself. That's not to mention the referrals from those clients as well. What a great marketing tool for small business owners... Pay a very reasonable, one-time fee for a year of advertising in several exclusive country clubs around your area. The books can take a while to release, however it is an annual publication so my company gets exposure during our busy season regardless. Sometimes it even works out with the release time that I get two seasons of advertising for the prince of one. I will continue purchasing advertising through Priority One Marketing Group as long as they are selling them. Thank you again for all the business!

We're glad to hear that, *** It's been a pleasure working with you through the years. Thanks for your testimonial!

I feel ashamed I did not read these report earlier. I am now en-battle with this company. I bought an advertisement and after getting the money they never call me again despite me leaving 6 voice message, 7 emails 1 SMS. I had to have the credit card company to start a claim for them to call me and lye outright. They now say it will be publish but in April. I deal with tax therefor I have no interest in advertising after April 15th but they never told me that when I bought it and stipulate I needed now for the tax season. Read all the complains and do not make the same mistake, do not deal with these amateur/opportunist. and honestly I stil do not know if they are going to fulfill my purchase as they refused to refund me an cancel everything.; It feel like a con.

Please follow this link for the complete history of email correspondence between Mr. and our representative: *** This client purchased his ad through email on January 29th, 2018; there was never a preceding phone conversation. He then provided us with his ad copy the following day, January 30th. We then sent his completed ad back to him the next day, January 31st. The first phone conversation took place on February 16th, when he contacted us requesting a copy of the book. Our rep assured him that we have all we need from him, and that he will be receiving a copy of the book containing his advertisement when the books are released. He was satisfied with that conversation. Three weeks later, on Friday, March 2, after business hours, his secretary left a voicemail requesting a callback. After the weekend, our rep returned the secretary's call to find both she and Mr. on conference call with her. He was then sarcastic and demeaning (as he also was in his emails - see link), and now falsely claiming that he was told the project would release before April. This is simply untrue. There had been no previous discussion about that, and since this project's inception, it was never going to release before April. After that phone call with our rep, our general manager then contacted Mr. to discuss his issues, and when questioned about where and when he left these 5 other voicemails, as he alleges in his complaint, Mr. simply stated that he had his secretary leave a voicemail on Friday, March 2, and that he had also sent several emails. He was unable to answer a direct question about the 5 other voicemails he supposedly left. What's more, there was no mention of any of these supposed voicemails in the email correspondence between him and our rep, which our rep was constantly replying to. One would think that if he was not receiving a response from these supposed voicemails, yet he was receiving constant email replies, he would have brought them up and inquired as to why they were not being returned. We're also curious to know what phone number this alleged "SMS" message was sent to, as no one at our company ever gave him a cell phone number. If he does have proof of this text message, and the number it was texted to, we invite him to post it here. Finally, there was never any contact from his credit card company with our office regarding any claim that may've been started by him. The bottom line here is that Mr. completely fabricated stories, making bold, false claims about our rep not returning his contacts (which the email chain contained in the above link proves otherwise), in order to smear our reputation and initiate a refund. We are happy to refund his money (and have done so - follow link for attached receipt as well) as our company does not wish to have any dissatisfied customers. It is unfortunate that he felt the need to attempt to smear our name in order to get his way; however, it is our company policy to try and satisfy every customer in whatever way brings them satisfaction regardless of the circumstances. Finally, the customer had signed all his paperwork and agreed to all our stipulations there within, including "printing dates may vary" (follow link to find signed paperwork).

Cute. Have you read the different review on the net about your company? they all state the same as I did. no communication back - by the way I have all email and sms I ever sent to you including the two last one from *** the saleswoman who insult and condense me. And guess what: the story is very different when you read the emails..
You are trying to smear me and that is all you seems to be a good at. but think..... what do I try to get? what is my benefit? except having spent $650 for an ad that will be up when tax season is over. so after I need it.
I made no secret that you lost me as customer..... way to go and about what I read you lost a lot of customers with your lying Technic.
Everything I reported is true and I can prove it.
