The Week Reviews (23)

We took advantage of an offer of a "FREE" gift subscription for a friend when we subscribed to the magazine - and they have been billing us $for the "FREE" subscription ever since Have gotten or notices - no luck contacting them Haven't gotten through by phone and get no reply to messages on their consumer service web site (despite fully identifying ourselves including subscription number) - the last one posted weeks ago

I was a long time subscriber to the week on their android app When it was time to renew with them I clicked renew and was billed(on 11**16) However my subscription was not renewed After multiple calls with The week (and Google Newsstand as you will see), it turns out that they had stopped supporting the android app (which they did not tell me) and had converted my subscription to google newstand (which they did not tell me) As of right now the situation is as follows: Google Help cancelled my subscription, before I knew that it was supposed to be viewed in their app This was at my request in an attempt to get a refund as I did not yet know that my subscription had been transferred to google newsstand Google contends they only process payment on behalf of the week and can not do a refund, only The Week can The week contends only google can process a refund Apparently the parties are unable to work together to figure this out so I'm left w/o a refund or t

After the editor of this magazine insulted me via email, I reached out to customer service and asked them to please stop mailing me their magazine Almost two months later and after reaching out again to customer service, The Week continues to send me their magazine I would like for The Week to please stop sending me their weekly magazines, as seeing the magazine reminds me of my negative experience with the editor as well as their shoddy journalism Thank you for this consideration

I had a subscription to Mental Floss magazineUpon the cancellation of its printed magazine in November of 2016, Mental Floss gave the option to transfer the remainder of my subscription to The Week magazine or receive a refundI requested the refundInstead, I started receiving issues of The WeekI contacted them and said I was owed a refundThey acknowledged my requestOnce again I received issues of The WeekI contacted them againThey confirmed cancellation of The Week and confirmed I was owed a refundSince then, I have not received issues but have also not received a refund

Although I never requested or signed up for this magazine, I received a couple of trial issues, which I ignored, since I wasn't interested in the magazineAfter the trial issues stopped, I began receiving increasingly threatening billing notices every few weeks demanding that I pay the $29.75, the price for a year's subscriptionI ignored these notices as well, since I had never signed up for the magazine, and had no desire for a year's subscriptionToday, I received a letter which is clearly an attempt to scare me into paying for the subscriptionI include the wording of the letter belowI did not ever request this magazine, and find these types of threats, which are carefully worded to scare the recipient into subscribing, abhorrentIt is my understanding that it is illegal to bill for items already delivered which were not requested
The letter states the following:
Dear (Name),
This letter serves as official notes that your account has been forwarded to the billing

Hi.I have contacted The Week Magazine at least 30 times over the last couple of years to please stop sending me promotional mail. The Week Magazine is violating this law.I have begged, plead, and been extremely gracious with my numerous requests without success.Just last month I filed a complaint with the Revdex.com. Review: I ordered 6 subscriptions and paid with my credit card on Oct *. They billed me for 18 subscriptions-some were multiples (as many as 4) of desired individual subscriptions, some were unordered subscriptions, and the one which remains unreimbursed is a charge of $59.50 to a fellow(former) subscriber's account, dated July **,which neither of us owes. They insisted that one of the 6 subscriptions I did want which was renewal /extension of my own sub that they offered me by mail ,was being reimbursed even though I still want it! Multiple accounts were created under my name. Also, the expiration date for my sub has been changed several times, making it shorter & shorter-I've mailed them copies of the mailing lables as proof.Desired Settlement: I,m a longtime supporter and fan of this magazine. I'm appalled by their customer service and business practices. I want my $59.50 back NOW .I want to have ONE account with them in my name with the correct designation 'donor/subscriber'. I want written confirmation of the 5 subs being correct that I ordered as gifts & promptly paid for. I'd like a written apology for what happened & how it was handled, especially the vicious, rude, unprofessional treatment I received from [redacted] & [redacted]. I wish to be given an explanation of how this huge mess occurred. I want my correct expiration date back. I want the one-year renewal they solicited from me & I paid for to be restored for free for putting me through this nightmare(currently in week 3 since I first brought it to their attention)--also for damaging my credit in the meantime! I want to be able to go back to loving The Week & giving it to almost everybody I know, without worrying about the customer service my people may be subjected to.

Review: I would like to star off by saying that I love the Week Magazine. I've been a subscriber, on and off, for many years.

I have been having delivery issues recently, which is very frustrating. Customer Service always offers to send replacement copies of missing issues, but these copies always take too long to arrive, and depending on availability, some may not even arrive. For two weeks in a row now, I have not received the magazine. I already notified Customer Service of this. I also made sure they had my correct mailing address, which they do. So why is it that I am not receiving my magazine? In fact, as I am writing this complaint, I am wondering if I will get this week's issue. If not, this will be the third missing issue in a row!

I asked Customer Service to launch an investigation, which to my knowledge they have not done. I've already contacted my local Post Office, and I am waiting to hear from them.

I think it's highly unlikely that the [redacted] is mishandling my magazine. I don't have problems with my other mail, and the mail carrier who serves my address is very conscientious and diligent. I have a feeling that the problem might be on the publisher's end.Desired Settlement: Implied in the complaint.
