Hello [redacted],We have no records of doing any business with [redacted].Please provide a copy of the contract to assist further. We consider this matter closed.Thank you.Thomas Edison Electric Inc.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me although not what we had hoped for and the information given in the business response letter is incorrect in the following points:
1.  Our last name is [redacted], not [redacted] as stated once in response letter.
2.  We asked if the amount quoted was because it was an emergency and were told that no it was not.
3.  We never received a written quote other than the contract which was signed BEFORE the work was started, not AFTER it was done as stated in the response letter.
4.  We only went with their service because they did not show up on time and it was going to be in the teens that night and we were worried about freezing pipes.
5.  All the other electricians we got estimates from were told up front that the electrical panel box needed to be replaced and the number of breakers and sizes required.
6.  According to Thomas Edison Electric's business description on Angie's List, they are supposed to offer a 10% senior discount which was never offered.
7.  We were never given the $100 discount for mentioning the ad in our phone book, which my husband did mention to them.
8.  I, [redacted], as mentioned in response letter, never signed any papers.  My husband did.
9.  They did not have all the the parts needed on their truck and had to go purchase them.
10. We were quite happy with our insurance company and what they told us completely coincided with what other people and other electricians told us.
We agree to accept the $695 to settle this matter in order to have the situation resolved and at least pay part of what we put on our credit card.  We have learned a hard lesson here and will never again agree to any work being done without a number of estimates.

Hello,
We have spoken to our client and [redacted] is satisfied with the services received from our company now.
Our electrician forgot to give him a $50.00 coupon discount off the total contract.
[redacted] received a coupon discount of $50.00 and a good will $50.00 credit for our error totaling...

$100.00 which was refunded to his credit card on file today.
Thank you for your help in this matter!

Hello [redacted],
An emergency electrical service request was called into our office on the night of June 29, 2014 after 9:00pm.
Norman completed our contracted work of $3270.00 in a professional manner as stated on an emergency basis working through the night on June 30,...

2014.We feel this complaint is a misunderstanding of the recommended electrical repairs between [redacted] and [redacted] that occurred on July 22, 2014
[redacted] was not present in the home when our electrician Guy came on July 22, 2014.
Guy met with [redacted] that evening and shared in writing his recommendations.
Attached is the contract for the work completed June 30, 2014 with a signature by [redacted] stating she was 100% satisfied with the work completed and nothing further was owed.
Attached is the proposed work contract dated July 22, 2014 that was given and signed for by [redacted]
Attached is a photo of the wires dangling along the roof top of the [redacted]'s home.
[redacted] energy was called by [redacted] a few days later and [redacted] repaired the triplex that they are responsible for.
[redacted] did not and will not repair what we recommended on the contract.
Guy came back at no charge to apply some exterior duct seal to the meter box as an added measure to keep water from penetrating the new electrical panel since Norman ran out of it and supply houses are closed in the middle of the night.
We have completed our contract as stated and will continue to honor the warranty for the work completed.
We don't feel a discount of $1000.00 is warranted for providing immediate emergency service in the middle of the night.
If price was the issue **. & [redacted] should have called in other electricians for estimates prior to hiring us to complete the work.
We hope this clarifies what we feel was a miscommunication.
Thank You.
Thomas Edison Electric Inc.

Awesome company. Called them for a wire that somehow got broken underneath my house. Came out same day, were reasonable with pricing and were done after only a couple hours. Would highly recommend them!

I am rejecting this response because:**.[redacted] is not 100% satisfied with the work orovided by the company. Hello [redacted],
font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;">
We apologize for the delayed response due to the holiday season.
Thank you for bringing [redacted] price concern to our attention.
At Thomas Edison Electric satisfying our customers’ needs takes precedence over all other issues.
Please allow me to explain a little about our service company.
We assist consumers, such as [redacted]  solve their electrical repair problems. We have established a business model that makes the resources required to service a customer’s electrical repair needs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have a call center; fully qualified, vetted and insured state registered master electricians and fully stocked trucks available around the clock because we know emergencies don’t happen just from 9-5. Exceptional companies such as [redacted] charge a premium for their over-night deliver service. They charge a premium because they must have the necessary equipment, facilities and employees needed to get the job done right when they need it.  Of course, there are delivery companies that can move a package from one place to another.
But if you need it absolutely, positively, over-night, [redacted] is your choice even though it may cost more.
When we were called on November 17, 2014 we responded that same day to a major power loss in her home.
When [redacted] asked how much, we provided her a written quote from our price book for the costs of her repairs up front.
Once she agreed to the work, price and payment terms, we went to work fixing the problem.
After the work was completed that night, we asked her if the work was completed to her satisfaction.
The work was done to their satisfaction by their signature on the contract indicating so.
The final cost did not exceed our quoted price and agreed to amount.
I am very appreciative that they have been able to find a less expensive phone opinion from other three out of six electricians whom
never visited the home to view the actual work.
We think the insurance adjustors opinion of the matter is bias since his job is to reimburse the insured as minimal as possible if anything at all.
However, the work was completed when [redacted] needed it to be. The work was quoted from our price book.
It was done to her satisfaction and to the cost agreed to up front.
[redacted] had the option of making appointments with other electricians to bid on the project.
She could then have chosen the least expensive bid and made other appointments for service.
She chose not to do this to save herself the time and effort of getting multiple bids and waiting for service from electricians whom didn’t even return her call.
[redacted] is asking us for an unwarranted discount of $4000.00 off the electrical work that was completed.
We have found no reason to offer any substantial discount of that nature after already giving two good will discounts of $182 & $200.
We truly feel we are the victim here because the insurance carrier didn’t properly and fairly reimburse the client for the work that was performed.
However in good faith since [redacted] is a senior citizen we would like to extend an additional 10% discount off the job representing $695.00 in savings to settle this matter.
We do await your reply.
Thanks,

I made an appt and when the technician called he couldn't give me an estimate. When I called to cancel appt. the technician called back and was nasty and said I'd be paying $500 for an $100 job. Very unprofessional! Then he said he could have come out today when the receptionists said they were booked until next week. Company doesn't know what they are doing. Very poor!!!

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:There was no “misunderstanding” or “miscommunication”. There was incomplete
work, overcharging, and unethical behavior, as follows:
INCOMPLETE WORK:  On June 30, Norman worked on the electrical panel at our house, starting
around 2:30 am and finishing approximately at noon. Certainly stores were
closed when he began his work. But if he had run out of seal to fix the electrical
duct, certainly some electrical supply store would have been open by 12 noon of
June 30. It is a falsehood to state otherwise. If he had indeed run out of seal
and all the electrical supply stores in our area were closed for some reason
all day June 30, he could have put in a request for another technician who had
some seal to come by and do the work. He just didn’t seal the duct. And he didn’t
mention it, to us or anyone else.
We were not told that Norman “ran out of seal” when he was at our house on
June 30 or anytime after that by anyone at Thomas Edison. We discovered the
leaky seal on the electrical duct ourselves, many days after Norm was gone. It
is fortunate we made this discovery ourselves and called to have it fixed.
Otherwise we would have the same leak causing the same problem that destroyed
the original electrical panel. Upon our call and request, Guy was sent on July
22 “at no charge” because the first pricey job wasn’t finished properly. Thomas
Edison knew it was their responsibility. They said so on the phone to us.
In-between June 30 and July 22 there were several major thunderstorms in our
area. We were told by Thomas Edison that the new electrical panel did not
suffer any damage due to the leaky seal. We think this is lucky for us.
In addition to not completing the job, Norman also did not label all the
breakers on the electrical panel. We still don’t know what all controls what.
Bottom line: the expensive electrical panel job was not completed or
done properly on June 30.
UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR: The picture of the dangling wires attached to Thomas Edison’s response has
been identified by my husband as the picture he was shown by the technician
from Thomas Edison on July 22. My husband states the picture was blown up on a
computer screen to focus on the dangling wires. The technician told him these were
our responsibility and only the other side of the triplex wedge node was the
public utility's responsibility. The dangling wires were SPECIFICALLY pointed
to and described as a major hazard that must be fixed immediately – by Thomas
Edison. The technician said Thomas Edison could fix it for the special price of
$3435 instead of $4700 or more. They would give us a “multi-job discount”. My
husband was urged to sign a contract on the spot, in order to get this
multi-job discount. My husband said he would have to wait to see what I said to
do.
In Thomas Edison’s written proposal they discuss the triplex wedge. The
proposal also talks about the source wire along the house. It is correct that
the wire along the house is the owner’s responsibility. But this is not what
was used to scare my husband about spending thousands on electrical work. The
proposal states “Upon arrival found Triplex wedge clamp snap[p]ed Recommend
replacement”. When I called another electrician and read to him what was
written on the proposal he said “you need to call [redacted] not me.” Nothing to do
with the triplex wedge is our responsibility, he said. Joe White of Thomas
Edison has told me several times that “pictures are worth a thousand words”. The
attached picture shows the repair that was performed by [redacted] (the public
utility company), including the triplex wedge. Let’s say Thomas Edison could
somehow claim they only meant to worry us about the wire along the house.  (They do not include a picture of this wire.)
It does not cost anything near $3435 to replace or repair a source wire, as
estimates from other electricians have shown us.
Bottom line: the technician from Thomas Edison Electric Inc. outright
lied to us and tried to scare us about what was our responsibility and would have
taken $3435 from us for something we weren't responsible for, if we had not
asked someone else.
OVERCHARGING:  The other electrician who told us it was the public utility's responsibility
also told us we were overcharged by at least $1000 for the electrical panel
repair that Thomas Edison Electric Inc did for us. Yes, it was an emergency
situation late in the evening when we called – it was the middle of the night
when Norman arrived.  Norman briefly
showed us some page in a binder and pointed to a figure and said normally it
costs more but for some reason you can have a discount and we’ll charge you
$3270. This “discount” is $1500 more than the electrician I talked to would
have charged for the same service, and has charged other people for the same
service, according to reports on Angie’s List.
The response from Thomas Edison suggests I should have checked with other
electricians for pricing on the electrical panel work. I have since, and all
are clear with me that $3270 is way out of line for the cost of replacing an
electrical panel, even as emergency work. $2000 is an average figure that has
often been suggested to me. Angie’s List Deals come as low as $1400.
The work was incomplete, the breakers are mostly unlabeled, and the job took
ten hours to finish (other reports suggest five hours is common for this work).
It’s difficult to see what would make this service worth $1300 to $1500 more
than the average going rate.
Bottom line: We were indeed overcharged for routine electrical work,
incompletely and poorly done, by more than $1000. So asking for a refund of
$1000 is reasonable.
This company preys on
people in distress, overcharges them by a large amount, and tries to scare them into doing work that the public
utility should do.
I was badgered on phone calls with Joe White of Thomas Edison and told I was
lying.
I was offered the refund of $1000 if only I would give the company an A
rating on [redacted] and drop this complaint with the Revdex.com.
There is at least one demonstrable falsehood in the response from Thomas
Edison, regarding the availability of seal.
Summary: I believe it is correct to say this company has behaved
unethically, in overcharging for routine work done incompletely and telling the client that they are getting a great discount, in trying to solicit large sums for work that was the
responsibility of the public utility, and in trying to buy an A rating on Angie’s
List.

Hello **. [redacted],
As a matter of good will we have already refunded **. [redacted] $937.50.
All the work on the contract was agreed to and completed in a professional manner.

I contacted Thomas Edison Electric due to the electric power went out. Per PECO, it was not PECO's problem and they informed me to contact an electrician. I picked this company which ripped me off. Since it was emergency, they charged me $250.00 just to come to my house and also charged me $411.00 just for troubleshooting before even looking at the problem. Then, I had to sign 5 to 6 pages of paperwork for agreement. They do take only cash and credit card, not check. I did not agreed with their procedure before even do the job, however, I had no choice since the power had been out for over 1 hour already and I could not go without electricity until next day. I do not post any comments against any company before, but I had to let everyone know about this company's procedures and charging outrageous amount of money to public. Please do not do business this company ever. I am so sorry I did.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: while I accepted the payment offered (since I was never going to receive my ful refund as requested) I still don't agree that the work was perfomed as agreed or professional.  I was disrespected and told I didn't know what I requested they perform for the job.
I still feel entitled to a full refund and only accepted a partial refund due to the length of timeit took to get any money out of them and that only occurred because your complaint was on their desk.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:I strongly object to Mr. W[redacted]'s allegation that his was a reasonable fee to charge for work that had no relationship to the issue that lead to the initial call. I understand that he doesn't agree with this but every single electrician I've shown his invoice to has dropped their jaw in amazement that anyone could charge this type of fee for the work rendered. Additionally, while post-work clean-up is generally a good thing, his worker removed any evidence that might have been useful to verify the need for what was done. In much the same way an automotive repair facility will usually show you the damaged parts that needed to be replaced in the case of a car repair. His previous company [redacted], before it went bankrupt, had numerous complaints of a similar nature so my contention is that we need to shine a light on a pattern of unethical behavior that has been demonstrated. [redacted]m  He has stated to me that this is his business model and that it is fair and reasonable. I strongly disagree. We would in no circumstance allow him or his worker in my mother's home again. Thanks.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Regarding the complaint filed on
2/14/2014 against Thomas Edison Electric, Inc.
I instructed my lawyer not to settle
with Thomas Edison Electric because I do NOT want to withdraw my
complaint against this business. Statements made in the response by
Thomas Edison Electric are not true and I am responding to those
below.
1.The message says “All of the work
was completed in a workmanlike manner.” I first contracted with
Thomas Edison Electric in March 2013. I asked for a different
electrician after the initial work done by the first electrician in March
created power outages in the second floor of the house. When parts of
the house would shut down, the second electrician sent
by Thomas Edison said things like, “Do not vacuum when the air
conditioner is turned on” or “Don't touch this switch because it
will make the power go out.” When I asked the second electrician to
fix the proble** caused by the first electrician, he said there is no
way for one electrician to understand the way another electrician
does things. With continuing proble** and having spent the money from my father's savings, I asked to speak to a manager on the phone in July
2013 and I literally begged the manager to do something to fix the
proble**. I was told that the solution was to pay Thomas Edison more
money to fix the proble**. In July 2013, after 5 visits and paying
the company $31,092.76, the electricity at my father's house was
still not working properly.
The message suggests that Thomas
Edison would have fixed proble**. I requested that proble** be fixed
in March and July and I was consistently told that the only way the
company would address issues is by paying them more money. After
paying over $30,000, and still not having working electricity
throughout the house, I would not pay the company more money. It was
not until the company heard that I had hired a lawyer and an
electrical inspector in October that they made any offers to fix
proble**.
3. The message says “there were a few
corrections requested by the township electrical inspector.” In
fact, the inspection by the electrical inspector of the Borough of
[redacted], PA, where the house is located, found 11 electrical
violations according to the 2009 International Residential Code. All
of the work done by the electricians sent by Thomas Edison Electric
had to be redone so the electricity would work properly and was completed to code.
