Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/02/05) */
Hi ***,
Thank you for expressing your concerns and I am sorry that the processing of the bag did not meet your expectationsIt does look as though our support team responded on 1/
It's important to remember that using thredUP means
you might sacrifice a little cash-back for convenienceOur goal is to help make families lives easier by helping them hand-down clothes from the convenience of home and earn some cashWhile you might be able to earn slightly more at an offline consignment store, eBay or craigslist, you pay a little extra to have thredUP do all the hard work for you (no driving, negotiating with buyers, or dealing with rejected items)
We truly appreciate your feedbackWe are always working to improve the overall thredup experiencePlease let me know if you have any questions, or if there is anything else I can assist you with
With that said, we feel it is important to set the expectations for what you can earn by disclosing these amounts on the cleanout pagesThe most helpful is the one below:
https://www.thredup.com/p/cleanout-payout-estimator
We also have additional information in our FAQ's
http://support.thredup.com/hc/en-us/articles/XXXXXXXXX-CONSIGNMENT-Everything-yo... /> As stated in the links above, our sellers can earn up to 80% but for an item to be considered consignment it must be listed on the site at $or moreThe payout for items priced lower than that are lined out in the links above
Reviewing the payout for your bag, it looks as though you earned the disclosed amounts

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/02/11) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I believe this is a formulaic responseObviously their terms and conditions are unclearAgain, their "calculator" makes no sense it is geared to whatever they want as far as priceIt is quite suspect that everything they choose is the lowest value possible where they do not have to "pay" based on selling priceThe response is that it is easier to sell through them than eBay or consignmentThis is categorically false, you still have to have everything pristine and go to UPS to drop the bag offAt least eBay or consignment organizations only take a small fee based on listings and actual selling price, whereas this organization tells you the item's value before even selling it, thereby avoiding paying a percentageTheir terms, conditions, and even calculator are ambiguous and not easily locatedThis problem is evident by all the online complaints and horrible reviews of this companyIn the end they took advantage of me, and basically say they can because of their own unclear explanation and so called 'terms'!
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2016/02/23) */
We stand behind the processing and payout for this bag as disclosed in our information pages

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/01/08) */
Hi ***,
Thank you for expressing your concernsIt looks as though our support team has been responding to each email that you send but you may not be receiving our responsesThe bags were marked as no process as of December
When the bags are located to start processing they will be scanned and turned over to a supervisor immediately to be returned to you
In the event you need to reach out to our customer support team again I would recommend marking us as a safe sender in your email account so that you can receive our responses
Please let us know if you have any other questions

Hi ***,
I just wanted to thank you for your time and patience while we were able to get this resolved for youI'm sorry again for any inconvenience with all your bag
Best,
***

Hi ***,
Thank you for expressing your concerns and I am sorry that the clean out process did not meet your expectations
When a bag is requested, there are two optionsOne if to request any item not accepted to be returned through return assuranceThe other option is to not incur the fee
associated with return assurance and have any items not accepted recycledIt looks as though it was requested for items to not be returned for this particular bagWhen items are not requested to be returned, items are not held aside at processing making it impossible to return items after the bag is processedWe are happy to return any unaccepted items in a timely manner when this option is requested prior to the bag being processedI have placed a link below explaining this in detail
***
The days to reclaim that you are referencing is in regards to any items that are accepted and placed on consignmentOur consignors have the option to reclaim their consignment item that is listed on the site as early as days of it being listed and as much as days after the consignment item is expiredI have placed a link below regarding the reclaiming process
***
The reclaim process does not include items not acceptedAs mentioned, return assurance must be requested for these items to be returned. On your next bag, if you'd like the items returned that we do not accept you'll want to select Return Assurance when the bag is requested or by visiting *** There is a little grey check box to the right of the bag numberReturn Assurance can be added or removed at anytime up until we receive the bag, but once it's received the current selection is locked in placeIt can not be added after the bag is processed

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2015/05/15) */
Hi ***,
Thank you for expressing your concerns and I am sorry that the payout did not meet your expectations
I do see that there were some cute new with tag items in your bag that we could not acceptUnfortunately we could not
accept them due to the brandWhile we do accept the brand Gymboree, we do not accept the Gymboree outlet itemsThis is noted in our clothing calculator in the link below:
http://www.thredup.com/calculator
We do always recommend that our selling members use this tool that we provide to make sure that we will accept the brands they are wanting to send
We do offer return assurance that allows you to receive the items back that are not accepted however this does need to be opted in to prior to us receiving the bagIf return assurance is not requested for a bag when it starts processing, the items that can not be accepted are immediately separated from those that areWe do not hold on to these items and they are distributed among organizations that find homes for the items
Return assurance can be requested at the time of ordering a bag and at any time prior to us receiving the bag within your account at http://www.thredup.com/bags
Unfortunately because this bag was not opted in to return assurance we can not return the items
Please let me know if you have any other questions
Best,
***

I offered to pay to have items shipped back to meThey magically disappeared?? This is stealing in my opinionThere is no way you don't know where my clothes areI want them back
Final Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2015/05/22) */
Hi ***,
As mentioned previously, when return assurance is not requested on a bag the items are not held aside after the bag is processed to be able to send them back
We stand behind the original statement and return assurance policy as outlined when requesting a bag, in the information inside each bag that is sent out and in our FAQ's in the links below:
http://support.thredup.com/hc/en-us/articles/XXXXXXXXX-What-is-Return-Assurance-... /> http://support.thredup.com/hc/en-us/articles/XXXXXXXXX-How-do-I-opt-into-Return-... /> http://support.thredup.com/hc/en-us/articles/XXXXXXXXX-Can-I-request-my-items-be... /> Best,

Hi ***,
Thank you for expressing your concerns and I am sorry that we could not accept this handbagWe are admittedly strict on the quality of items that we acceptOur buyers expect like new items without signs of excessive wear,
stains, etc
The reason for not accepting this item is accurate, it was due to excessive signs of wearSpecifically on the lower right corner of the photo that you shared in your complaint
I have attached a screenshot of this lower right corner where you can see the discoloration and wear along the edges
I am sorry again that we could not accept this bagPlease let me know if you have any other questions

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/10/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The business, ThredUp, has provided no additional information to help resolve the caseThe photo attached to the business' response does not clearly show discolorationRather, it shows the natural shadows of suede materialAny potential buyer of this item expecting a like-new product would be totally satisfied
Their "earnings estimator" is inherently misleading, as it takes into account only items that are accepted under the company's unreasonable standards, which are NOT clearly articulated onlineThe website says "Clothing should be in excellent conditionItems with stains, holes, pilling, or signs of wear won't be accepted" (see https://www.thredup.com/cleanout/how-it-works)It does NOT say "clothing must be absolutely perfect, in better-than-new condition."
I believe ThredUp is taking advantage of their primary demographic: young adult femalesThis is a case of consumer deception
A middle ground? I actually think my initial proposal of $payout (for a like-new bag valued at well over $100), is more than reasonable especially considering the other items taken by ThredUp from the same bag that seemed less egregious (and for which I did not have my own pre-existing photos to bamy complaints)To compromise, I could accept $Otherwise, I would like to know where exactly my bag wentDid a "third-party seller" receive it, as is suggested on the website? Did ThredUp profit off of that transfer? If so, I would like my share of the profit
Thank you for your time

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Nothing has changed between my initial submission and nowThe business continues to stonewall me with the same basic responseThey haven't been willing to engage with my proposed solutions or proposed one of their own
ThredUp is taking advantage of consumers I'm convinced there's a bigger story here
I lost a bag worth at least $I've provided photographic evidence of its conditionI've provided evidence of its valueI hope the Revdex.com is able to objectively conclude that ThredUp is in the wrong
Thank you for your time

DO NOT SELL TO THREADUP! SCAM!! I will tell this to my family, my friends, my extended personal network, random strangers on the street of how much of a scam this "company" is I just got my payout backI mean, could I be any more disappointed? I sent them a bag full of designer clothing, including unworn/tags still on *** ***, *** ***, the list goes on and onI am SO glad that I did not rip my closet apartThis has got to be one chalked up to heavy embarrassment that I decided to trust an online company to sell my stuffIn addition to selling my stuff and cherry picking (okay, fine), they purchased the out of season worn skirt and running shorts over a very recently purchased (and unworn) pair of designer jeansDO their buyers know what they're doing? Do they actually know prices/wear? ThreadUp is a scam, pennies on the dollar for quality items who KNOWS if they're actually donating (or donating to reselling at 90% mark-up)I wish I would have read the seller reviewsI'm so mad! NEVER AGAIN

Hi ***,
In response to your complaint, we would like to apologize for your unsatisfactory experience using thredUPWe understand how upsetting it can be when your expectations are not metCreating a great customer experience and delivering excellent customer service a top
priority
In researching your situation, I see that you were assisted by a member of our Customer Service team and they were able to address your concerns and adjust your payout as a courtesy to you
I also reviewed the items that you sent in and I see that the payout you received is in direct correlation to the Payout Estimator and the Payout Chart that are found on our websiteWe provide these tools to give customers as much transparency as possible regarding their potential payouts
Our Payout Estimator can be found on our website here:
***
Our Payout Chart can be found on our website in the FAQ article entitled “How much will I earn for my clothing?”:
***
The reason why we could not accept more items from you is because they were not in a condition that we could sell on our siteRegrettably, because you did not opt into Return Assurance, these items have already been sorted with the rest of the unaccepted items and are being responsibly recycledThere is no way for us to retrieve these items

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: My bag was not a knock off as I purchased it directly from a *** outlet I'm appalled that you'd even insinuate that it was fake
I purchased it for over $from a store directly!!
I have read your reviews no know your company is infamous for doing this to people no if I'd known that beforehand I never would,of sent it to you
As far as the return option, I wasn't offered it and didn't see anywhere that it offered it to me
I will be filing this in court if I do not receive my bag back or a fair monetary return
Sincerely,*** ***

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me for nowHowever, still very disappointed that I had to complain to Revdex.com for ThredUp to fix my issue

You don't seem to get it and can't answer my questionYour business reputation is on the line and you don't seem to careHow can I do business with you again knowing you just buy off your customers and provide no answers!!

Hi ***
Thank you for expressing your concernsThe amounts you were discussing do seem to be mostly accurateTransparency in the amounts that can be earned for items that are accepted is an important part of our businessFor this reason, we do offer a payout estimator on our cleanout pages
where potential sellers can review payouts that can be earned if items are acceptedMany of our sellers find this to be beneficial to make sure that with any given item they are sending, our service is the best fit for their needs with that itemThe payout estimator can be found at ***.
This estimator is updated daily to make sure that it has current payout amounts
Reviewing the items from your bag, it does look as though the amounts earned were in line with the amounts we disclose on the payout estimator
I am sorry that the cleanout experience did not meet your needs

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First, this isn't a complete list of my items that weren't accepted that I also wasn't paid forWhere are the brand new Michael Kors shoesSecond, Thred Up is a site that sells both new and secondhand AKA used (most used clothes) - so to say that you won't accept something for sale unless it is in "perfect" condition is ridiculousI have ordered and received items that I had to send back that I can't believe you accepted due to fading and pilingOne item even had a hole! Additionally the Nine West shoes had "something on the bottom"Really?? So you can't sell it because there was something on the sole of the shoe? I find the excuses to be unbelievable and incredibleI want my items back or the monetary amount I stated

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Thred Up is taking NO responsibility for the lack of service they agreed to provide when they accepted my items, which is obvious by the response from the company referring to my complaint "as my mistake". This is not the case. The bag in question was NOT selected as a donation bag and they have neglected to show proof of that, although I have requested many times.
- As shown in the attachment - the bag in question had the option of "return assurance" selected. Which means the items that are not accepted or consigned are assured to be returned to the customer. My items were NOT returned to me as I selected on your website and is proven by the evidence that I provided with my account screen shot. I would NOT have selected the Return Assurance if the items were to be donated
- Also, as further evidence - I provided an attachment of the email I received from Thred Up that asked me to respond immediately if the intention was NOT to donate the items. I DID respond as they requested, but due to their delay in customer service, they email was not processed therefore the items were donated.
Thred Up did not provide the service that they offer when they accepted my items, therefore I am asking for the compensation of $200, not the $they want to offer for "my mistake"
Sincerely,*** ***

Hi ***,
Thank you for expressing your concerns and I am sorry that the cleanout process has not met your expectationsWe do have admittedly strict standards and strive to only accept like new items
As for the bag fee, we did implement a bag fee starting the Summer of This fee was
implemented to help offset the cost of shipping bags across the country and was disclosed at the time bags were requestedI have attached a screenshot of what was seen at the time you requested a bagWe believe that transparency in fees and potential payouts are of the utmost importanceWhile the bag fees may fluctuate over time, these same fees are still disclosed at the time every bag is requested
We do offer another tool as well that is quite helpful in deciding which items to sendMany of our customers use this to figure out which items they want to sell with us, or maybe sell by another avenue to provide a larger payoutBeing a convenience service, the payouts through thredUP may be lowerCustomers can always view what they will be paid for any accepted items in our cleanout pages at ***
I'm sorry again that the cleanout process did not meet your expectations
