[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: While the statements from business above are true. I feel that by adding the " upgraded Memberships " @ additional cost they breached the original contract I had with them. They have not made attemempts any attempts to locate me at any other campgrounds at no cost. This situation has been ongoing for three years, and only after the second year of not beinging able to use the Membership, and having to pay for other campgrounds did I stop paying maintenance fees. The way I see it Gettysburg Resorts should be reimburising me for cost of fees paid @ alternate campgrounds, not asking for more money for non rendered services. Per their contract they have the option to cancel membership. That is all I want at this time. I can't even sell this membership as I feel an obglation to advise any buyer that inorder to be able to use it they would need to pay upgrade fees. Regards,[redacted]

Travel Resorts has gone back through the complainants statements. Again, we find no wrong doing on our part. The membership was entered into on February 12, 2011, and Travel Resorts is puzzled as to why this complaint took so long to be placed.
In our records, we show that we attempted reservations for the [redacted]’s. One such attempt was at our North Carolina resort, to accommodate a Bike Week that the [redacted]’s were interested in. That attempt was made on March 10, 2011. This contradicts the [redacted]’s statement that they tried to cancel initially.
We believe this membership was sold on its merits, and the [redacted]’s should be held to the terms of the contract, as Travel Resorts should be held to the terms of the contract.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Thank you for your inquiry. We were very disappointed to
read the letter from our new member regarding their two experiences with us.
As noted in the letter, the member had reached out to us directly and we
have been in communication with the member. We are sorry they...

felt it necessary
to reach out to you while we were working through a solution directly with
them. We have offered a resolution to the member that we are confident will
accept and have mailed them documents reflective of that agreement.
We are in the process of investigating the reservation
process for their stay at our Gettysburg Battlefield Resort and will be
evaluating their accommodations at our Bass Lake Resort property. We receive a
great deal of positive feedback from our members about their experiences at
both of these resorts, and we are confident, based on the overwhelming positive
comments, that any less than desirable experience is an exception to what our
members experience at our resorts throughout the year.
Once we receive the documents back from the members making
this inquiry, we are certain this matter will be resolved and may be closed.
Thank you,

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Dear [redacted],

We do not feel that you or anyone from TRA has addressed our
concerns. We initially contacted TRA to cancel our membership in July and were
unable to speak to someone on how to proceed until September. At that time, we
did set up a meeting to cancel, which was confirmed by employees at TRA. We
were never told that we needed to hear about other options. When we attended
the meeting, we were uninterested in the options presented, which was an
upgrade to our membership and an additional fee. Your TRA employee, “Bob S[redacted]”
told us that he was unable to help us cancel and he said if we were to cancel,
it would cost us over $4000. Our contract states otherwise. He then sent us to
the campground’s front desk. They too were unable to assist us and we were
never given further instructions on how to sell or cancel our membership.
Actually we have had our membership posted for sale since the beginning of this
year, which we did without the help of anyone from TRA. We do not feel that the
employees at TRA have “worked with” us, since we rarely can get a hold of
anyone that is able to help us. It is clear that this company is extremely disorganized
and the employees do not know the membership policies. Otherwise, someone would
have been able to give us a straight answer.

To Whom It May Concern:
Travel Resorts of America has received [redacted]’s additional complaint. As we stated in the past, Travel Resorts of America has not breached the contract that we have with [redacted] has a 60 day advanced membership which he purchased. Travel Resorts of America has not altered or diminished [redacted]’s membership in any way. As we explained in our last letter, many of our members have chosen not to upgrade their memberships and maintain 60 day advanced reservation notice. These members continue to have the same access to the resort system that they have always had. The contract that **. and [redacted] does not change because different types of memberships are now being sold. Travel Resorts of America has worked to make as many spaces as possible available for all members regardless of member type. As we stated in our previous response, Gettysburg Battlefield Resort leased sites in three different locations for the past two summers to provide additional no cost camping for members. These resorts were [redacted] in [redacted] Pennsylvania, [redacted] in [redacted] Pennsylvania, and [redacted] in Virginia. Travel Resorts of America leased between ten and twenty sites at each of these resorts for the past two summers to accommodate the needs of our members. In addition to leasing sites, Travel Resorts of America has built additional sites at our resorts; thirty additional sites were also added at Gettysburg Battlefield Resort in the past two years to accommodate members. The membership that **. and [redacted] have would have allowed them access to all of these sites. The contract that **. and [redacted] have has been upheld by Travel Resorts of America. We hope that all of our members use their membership and are happy with the contract that they have purchased. Travel Resorts of America hopes to work with all members to help them to understand and use memberships to their full potential. We will continue to uphold our end of the contract and have campsites available for our members’ use. If **. and [redacted] would like help accessing the resort or understanding their membership benefits, they are encouraged to call our Member Service line at [redacted].

Review: I purchase a membership to this campground in 2006 that provided I was able to make reservations 60 days in advance for arrival. At that time this was the best term available. I paid an anual maintenance fee and sites were no additiona charge. In 2011 Travel Resorts decided to sell new membership agreements with a 90 day reservation window. They wanted everyone to upgrade at a cost of over $3000, in addition to the nearly $6000 already paid. I declined to purchase this upgrade. Since that time I have been unable to reserve a space. I have made 4 attempts in 2012 and 2013 to make reservations and was told each time no spaces were available. I was then forced to reserve and pay for space at another campground. The last reservation agent I spoke with in May 2013 said reservations were all filled by people on the 90 day membership. I advised her at that time that this is an unacceptable situation and I was not going to make any further maintenance payments until this was corrected. I asked her to have someone from management contact me. I have been waiting for over a year. I have not paid any of the maintenance fees. Now Travel resorts is sending notices that they are going to send this account to collections. I still have not gotten a call!Desired Settlement: At this point I would like them to just cancell my membership.

RE: Complaint # [redacted]

To Whom It May Concern:

Travel Resorts of America has received the complaint from [redacted]. The membership that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] purchased is a Deluxe membership with a home park at Gettysburg Battlefield Resort and a 60 day advanced reservation window. At the time of purchase, Travel Resorts of America sold only 60 day advanced reservation memberships at both the resorts that were owned. In the past few years, Travel Resorts of America has begun to offer more membership benefits such as 90 day advanced reservation windows. The membership level that the [redacted] family purchased, Deluxe, allows 60 day advanced reservations and two home parks. We have offered options to members to upgrade their memberships to higher membership levels so that they could have access to more membership benefits. Members who choose not to upgrade maintain all of the membership benefits that were given at the time the membership was purchased. Travel Resorts of America values all members and works diligently to make sure that membership benefits are available to all members. In the past two years, Gettysburg Battlefield Resort has opened more sites to make sure that more members have access to desired reservations and has gone above and beyond by leasing sites at nearby campgrounds for members to have free access to.

We have upheld our part of the membership agreement by allowing continued free access to the [redacted] Family’s home parks. Their membership did not change when new membership options began to be offered. We do not feel that the [redacted]s should be offered a membership upgrade that they did not pay for. If these members would like a longer reservation window, they must pay for the upgrade that allows this access. We would like **. and [redacted]. [redacted] to enjoy their membership and hope that they will continue to use their home parks. We also encourage these members to call Travel Resorts of America’s Member Service Line to discuss how to make reservations and how to use this membership to its full potential. We also continue to offer upgrade options to allow a longer reservation window. We expect that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] will uphold their end of the contract by bring their payments current and continuing to pay on this membership as agreed.

I am rejecting this response because:

I have submitted a complaint before on this same issue. Ref # [redacted]. Company has altered the contracts to add a 90 day reservation level, over the 60 day level That was on the original contract . In doing so they have not honored their contract with me in that every time I have attempted to call in a reservationat 60 days, I have been told they are full. In their response to my original complaint they stated they have made arrangement with other camp grounds for their overflow, THAT IS NOT TRUE. I have been forced to make reservations, and pay at competing campgrounds. I don't know why the original complaint was closed, as this has never been resolved. Now they have sent my account to collections. If this is not resolved soon I will be forced to contact a lawyer and sue for breach of contract.

Review: We were victims of misrepresentation, nondisclosure, and contradiction in statements upon which we relied when We bought our membership in october of 2013. we were lied to and then Travel resort of [redacted] never sent us our information about what actually we receive with the membership until three weeks after the cancelation deadline. we were promissed that they were going to post date a free week cabin rental but when it came they said we have six months to use it. we tried to use the campground in july but were told that they were all full but we would be put on the cancelation waiting list. we drove up there to see if they were all full on the weekend we wanted and they had about 60 spots opean as of 6 pm friday night. we went to comfront someone and they said they reserve spots for tours and [redacted] members but they had two spots open but no water or electric or sewer. they never called us to tell us there were two spots open for the weekend. I feel that my membership should come first over [redacted] or tours. Now I been trying to cancel my membership since july and no one will get back to me. every time I call they tell me that the department that handels cancelation is not in or that they will have to get back to me bu they haven't since july. I keep calling and sending emails but nobody gets back to me. Now they sent me a maintenance fee thats due in october. I call and spoke to a lady yeasterday 9/18/2014 and she again said that the cancelation department will have to get back to me but she said normally I will have to be paid in full with the price of the membership and maintenance fees first. I have been trying to cancel this membership and now they told me that I will have to pay my maintenance fees to possiably cancel. I keep getting the run around.Desired Settlement: I feel that my wife and I were lied to during the presentation. we thought wer were getting something else and now we are stuck with a membeship that we couldn't even use and I shouldn't have to call and write emails for a spand of 3 months to just get a simple answer. I don't feel like I have to pay a termination fee since we been treated this way and we feel we should get a full refund or minuse the amount of one year that we had the membership that we never got to use.

Re: [redacted] and [redacted]

To Whom It May Concern,

**. and [redacted] toured Gettysburg Battlefield Resort in September of 2013. At the time of purchase, they had the opportunity to see the resort, look at [redacted] material, and ask questions about the membership. When they purchased the membership, they were sent home that day with a signed contract, information on the membership, the website and phone number for Travel Resorts of [redacted] and [redacted], and their Sales Representative’s phone number as well as a number to reach our Member Service office. All of this information was available from time of purchase. The only thing that was sent later was the [redacted] Directory, which was already available on the website that was provided at time of purchase. The information that **. and [redacted] took home that day had information about the rescission period to cancel the membership. These members are trying to cancel outside of that time with a refund and no penalty when their signed contract clearly states the Travel Resorts of [redacted] Cancelation policy.

The membership that **. and [redacted] originally purchased entitled them to one cabin certificate for a free week of stay in a cabin at any of their home parks. All cabin certificates at Travel Resorts of [redacted] are good for six months from the date on the front of the certificate. **. and [redacted] decided to downgrade their membership to a lower cost membership that was not entitled to a cabin certificate. Travel Resorts of [redacted] allowed **. and [redacted] to keep the certificate as our gift. They made a cabin reservation but chose to cancel. Travel Resorts of [redacted] gave these members every opportunity to use this certificate.

Since **. and [redacted] joined in September of 2013, they have not made reservations, except for the cabin reservation which they canceled, or attempted to reach Member Services to ask questions about making reservations or using the membership. If **. and [redacted] would like to use the membership, they are encouraged to call our Member Service line at [redacted]. Travel Resorts of [redacted] does not see any cause to cancel this membership. These members were aware of the cancelation policy and of the membership benefits and restrictions at the time they purchased. They did not cancel within the rescission period and are trying now to violate their contract.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: when we were in the meeting to buy in September 2013 we were not shown information about [redacted] except a large blown up map but when you look at it closer when we got it in the mail it wasn't as pleasing what they made it out to be. With the free cabin rental we were promised that they were going to post date 6 months from April of the following year so we could use it in the summer. You mention that we never called but that's far from the truth because right after I bought the membership I called for two weeks trying to get somebody in the right department but they keep telling me to call back or they are not in until Thursday. It's the same case as when I started calling in July and nobody could help me or return my calls until this week. I actually called and they told me to call the next morning that they would be in so I did and they told me that no one is in that department until Thursday. If you want I can pull my phone calls that show all the dates that I called and what I was told. It's no excuse for how your company has treated my family. I can show you pictures of your resort with all the empty spots when you told me it was full plus in your sales pitch you talk about how safe your park is and how you have a guard shack but never no guard because I was able to drive right in and not one person asked what I was doing. I even went in and talk to the lady at the desk and she told me you reserve spots for tours. so you can suck more people into this membership but I should as a member get a spot over a non member. Your company lied to us during the presentation and your lying about we never called and never tried to camp there because we did. We were even put on a waiting list so don't sit there and say we didn't try.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: We are having issues cancelling our so called "trial membership" that we were told we could cancel at any time.We bought our "trial membership" in 2005, trial being the key word. We specifically told our salesman Andrew, that we did not want to be obligated to stay in this membership for life. He assured us this was a 4 year trial membership, and we could cancel at any time after. Later on, when we found out things weren't going the way they were explained to us, we tried to contact Andrew, and low and behold, I was told he was left go and did not work there anymore. I have tried to cancel on numerous occasions and have gotten no where with their customer service. You do not even get a call back when requested. I did contact someone today by the name the name of Alan, that apologized for the issues I was having. I explained to him that we do not want this membership anymore, and that I would like to cancel. He told me the only way I could get rid of this membership was to sell it, or pay 1568.00 to cancel it. We were also told that they do not re-sell these memberships. My question is, what is to sell. We paid our money. We kept up with our maintenance fees, but due to other unforeseen circumstances, we can not continue to use this membership. Clearly, what we were told when we signed up for the trial membership is not holding up. We quit going to the resort because every time you tried to make a reservation, there was either no sites available, or the sites that were available did not accommodate our RV. The sites we were told we would be able to use were not available for us. I feel that we were lied to from the beginning, and I would not recommend anyone joining anything affiliated with Travel Resorts of America. Review: We have been members of this resort for 5 years. The sales person told us we would always have a spot for our RV, NO MATTER WHAT. Every time we called to book a spot, they told us they were full. If we paid to upgrade, we could camp at a different resort. We paid the full membership off and now just have annual dues. We called them many times to cancel our membership, however they will not allow us to cancel it. They told us we had to sell it, but I tried to give it away and no one wants it! THIS IS A SCAM!! They make it sound great, tell you lies about all the upgrades they are doing but haven't, and harass you every night to get payment. We have not camped there in well over a year and still "owe" them money. I guess this is a life contract...... I will be spreading the word about these fraudulent people and their sales pitches.Desired Settlement: Cancel this membership. They sucker enough people in to their web of lies. Review: Bought into high pressure sale of resort timeshare. Unable to secure reservations as promised. No return phone calls from resort.

My membership number is [redacted]. We cannot make reservations when we call the reservation number. We leave a voice message and return phone number. The recording states we will be called back in the order we left message. We never get a return call. We also called to update credit card info. We never get a return call for that. We are told in the contract we cannot be refused a camp site at our home park. We can't seem to get more than one reservation online. Travel Resorts offers 30 days free camping to most RV dealers. They get you in for a weekend at their campground and then high pressure squeeze you into purchasing a timeshare. We were new to camping and they made this sound like there was no other way to camp but with them. It's a shame we have so many issues just trying to camp.Desired Settlement: I would be happy to get half of the $7000.00 invested into this sham and released from this contract. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Review: We had a meeting with a Travel Resorts sales manager. He gave us a tour of the campground and some of the things to sell us were: "Your camper can stay here for 2 weeks at a time", " Call for the best sites within a 2 week period", "There is a great snack bar, pool, and store on site ", "If you're not happy with the contract, it can be sold". We agreed and signed the contract. What we experienced was nothing we were promised!

There were no full hook-up sites ever available and any sites were in the back of the campground away from everything. We never were able to reserve a good site. We left our camper to go to work and there was a sign on the door that we would be fined $50 a day if we left it again. This was never clear to us. When we walked to the pool at 2 PM, it was closed. We walked to the store and it was closed at 6PM. There was NO snackbar! There were 2 working washing machines and 1 working dryer. I lost money trying to get detergent from the vending machine 3 times. All of this was for 2 weeks camping and we had already paid over $2000. When we had to cancel a reservation due to illness in the family, we were put on restriction because of the cancellation. We finally said enough was enough and called to sell the membership. She stated there was a fee involved. I told her we were paying a monthly fee on our contract and then was told, "You cannot sell your contract until it is paid off"! None of this was explained to us. I wrote a letter to them and told them we were cancelling and blocked any other $200 payments from coming out of our bank account. As I stated, we had already paid in over $2000.00 for 2 weeks of camping that were not at all what was promised! Now they have placed this on our credit record...both of ours for $10000.00 owed!Desired Settlement: We want this off our credit record and excused from this contract where absolutely nothing was what we were told or promised!

We have received your complaint concerning **. and [redacted]. [redacted]. In reviewing this account, we found that the [redacted]’s membership has been inactive, due to non payment, since 2012! This was a financed account, and this was submitted to our collection agency in March 2012. There was no response from the [redacted]’s.

We contacted them immediately after trying to cancel the contract. They never responded or tried to work with us in any way possible! I sent 2 letters out to them within a 6 month period. Yes, we didn't pay because we feel the contract was not valid. We did not receive what we were promised and I told them we were terminating. We are not the first one's to experience these issues. We wanted to sell our contract, which we were told we could do when we signed up...and then was told that it had to be paid off first. We paid in over $2000.00 for 2 weeks worth of camping. We absolutely reject their response! If they had tried to work with us, the outcome would have been different. We pay our bills and we were excited over the possibilities with being members. They just didn't in any way live up to the contract and the promises of a good salesman!

Review: Requested to immediately terminate our membership with Travel Resorts of America. We feel we have been deceived in the representation of what was offered to us and what we had stated our needs were at the time. We were told there would be campgrounds in and around where we would be moving to in Tennessee. Unfortunately, we had to wait over two weeks for our booklets to find out for ourselves that the locations of the resorts and the [redacted] Parks are not even close to, or in the state, that had been represented to us in our meeting with [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted].Desired Settlement: All monies and any accrued charges refunded.

Complaint # [redacted] To Whom It May Concern,

Travel Resorts of America has received **. and [redacted]. [redacted]. These members are asking that Travel Resorts cancel the membership that they purchased on April 19, 2014. In the complaint, the members said that they want to cancel because they feel that the membership was misrepresented and there are no campgrounds where they are moving. They also say that they had to wait two weeks to see Coast to Coast books and see what campgrounds they have access to. **. and [redacted]. [redacted] looked at a Coast to Cost directory during their sales presentation. They specifically looked at Tennessee and saw the campgrounds that they would be able to use. The Coast to Coast System has three campgrounds in Tennessee. **. and [redacted]. [redacted] have been in regular contact with their sales representative and have been working with him to use the membership that they purchased. Their sales representative made them a reservation for earlier in May that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] did not show up for. The [redacted]’s sales representative has also shown **. and [redacted]. [redacted] how to make a reservation for another resort of their choice inside of their business rules.

Cancelation of membership is not warranted for the membership that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] purchased. Travel Resorts of America has made every effort to ensure that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] are able to use the membership that they purchased to its full potential. The sales team has made sure that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] have had access to their home park and other parks in the Travel Resorts and Coast to Coast system. Travel Resorts of America made sure that all information about the membership was disclosed to **. and [redacted]. [redacted] at time of purchase including time to look through and discuss the Coast to Coast directory, time to read and discuss the contract, and information on the rescission period to cancel this membership. Travel Resorts of America will continue to uphold the contract that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] have purchased by making sure that these members have access to all parks according to the membership that the [redacted]s have purchased and Travel Resorts of America expects that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] will continue to uphold their portion of the membership in paying membership dues and contract payments in a timely manner.

Sincerely,

Review: 3 months ago, in August, my husband and I sat in on a Travel Resorts of America presentation. The only reason we went was to get the free nights of camping offered to us when we bought our fifth wheel. Of course, in these types of situations they don't take no for an answer, and talked us into signing up for the membership which would cost us $7595. We put down a down payment of $1795.39, and were told that we needed to provide a credit card number for monthly payments to be taken out of. I didn't want to do this. I don't like doing automatic payments especially since I wasn't given an exact amount of what the monthly payments would be. We were assured that before any automatic payment occurred, we would receive a bill and could cancel the automatic payment. The only thing that we received was a Coast to Coast binder, no payment information came. I figured it was still on its way, and to be honest forgot about it. Then as I look through my bank statements I notice that 2 monthly payments were taken out in(OCTOBER & NOVEMBER), each in the amount of $133.55. I think it is horrible business practice to misinform customers like that! When I noticed the charges on my bank statement, I immediately went to Travel Resorts of America website, and emailed them about my issue. I chose to do it through email so they couldn't lie, and say I didn't try to contact them(from previous complaints, it seems that they do that quite often). I still have not heard back from them.Desired Settlement: As said before, I think that it is a horrible business practice to misinform customers. The fact that we were lied to, and now can't even get someone to contact us about the situation has us very skeptical about what the rest of our membership holds. We have not used our membership at all since we it started in August. Since we have not used any part of the membership, we would like to request that our down payment($1795.39), the payments that were taken out of our bank account(SO FAR, $267.10) be reimbursed, and our membership be cancelled.

Response:

We have received the complaint from **. and [redacted]. [redacted]. These members attended a presentation at Gettysburg Battlefield Resort and chose to purchase a membership. In the paperwork that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] signed, they agreed to have monthly payments come out of their account automatically. Travel Resorts of America does not require members to pay by automatic withdraw and many members choose not to do this. The paperwork that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] signed clearly showed them the amount of their monthly contract payments and maintenance fees and told them which date these payments would begin. **. and [redacted]. [redacted] did not contact Travel Resorts of America to stop the auto draft from their account before this date so payments were drafted as is our policy. It is the policy of Travel Resorts of America that if a member is on auto draft, we do not send out monthly billing. Travel Resorts of America has not at this time received any communication from **. and [redacted]. [redacted] requesting the cancellation of auto draft or monthly statements to be mailed to them.

We do not feel that we have done anything that has not followed regular business practices or that has violated the contract that **. and [redacted]. [redacted] signed. This membership will not be canceled. If these members would like the auto draft on their account to be stopped, we encourage them to call the billing office at [redacted].

Sincerely,

Billing Director

I am rejecting this response because:

First off, we expected this answer from you as many other complaints state that your business tends to lie. We did contact you via the email system on your website. The reason we contacted you that way was because we have read numerous complaints about you lieing, and we wanted everything in email as proof of all conversations. It is not our fault that your business has a faulty email system. It is supposed to work so that your customers can contact you, correct? Yes, we did sign a contract with you, BUT we were told that we HAD to supply a c/c number for automatic payments EVENTHOUGH we did not want to. We were told that we would receive a bill in the mail before the payments were withdrawn, and we could then call the number listed and cancel the automatic payments. We have still not ever received a bill. The reason we would like to cancel our membership is because right off the bat we were lied to. This is a lifetime membership, and we are not willing to pay for something that we are clearly being lied to about. I will be calling today to cancel the automatic payments, and would like our entire membership cancelled, and all money refunded. We have not used any services, and feel that we have been treated unfairly.

Regards,

[redacted] & [redacted]

Review: We purchased a membership believing it would suit our needs. It did not and now they are making it difficult if not impossible to cancel.

We purchased a membership after a two hours sales pitch believing the membership would suit our needs. When we received the membership package 10 days later, we realized it was not suitable for our needs. We were specifically told there was a resort in [redacted] Florida, but the nearest resort is over an hour away. When we tried to route a trip to Florida, the member resorts were more than 5 hours apart and we prefer to drive less than 4 hours per day. When we tried to make a reservation, we were put on hold, then transferred to an answering machine. No one ever called us back. When we finally reached a customer service rep, we were told she would transfer our request to cancel to the proper department and we would hear from them in 3-4 days. Nothing yet. We then went online and found similar complaints and one review that said they were charged a $1600 fee to cancel. There is absolutely nothing in the contract either way about cancellation policies. The membership was $11,995.00. Please help us resolve this issue.Desired Settlement: We simply wish to cancel our membership and return the membership package. We have retained an attorney who advised us to first try to resolve the issue without litigation, but we will use whatever means necessary to resolve the issue.
