Tri-City Transmission Service, Inc. Reviews (36)

We have taken several of our service vans to TriCity Transmissions and have been extremely satisfied everytime.

They are professional and communicate extremely well, keeping us informed of the status of our vehicle and when it will be completed.

They genuinely care about us and the work they do.

We highly recommend TriCity Transmissions!

The transmission on my Ford E-250 van started slipping so I call [redacted], that I have used for several years. They said they did not work on transmissions but Highly Recommended Tri-City Transmission. I am so glad I took their recommendation. Dave R[redacted] and his staff are outstanding. After completing a full evaluation and diagnostics they called me with my options, repair quotes and a time table. Not only were their quotes very reasonable in price, this major repair was completed in just a few days. They even saved me both time and money by taking care of motor mount repairs during the transmission repair.

My van was returned on time, at the quoted price, and with a great warranty. Best of all it runs GREAT!!!

Additionally, during the diagnostics they discovered a “check engine light” issue. However, they suggested I should let Marshall’s handle that repair since Marshall’s was my regular go to place for repairs. What a display of High ethics and integrity by Tri-City, A Leader in the Repair Service Industry.

Thanks Again to Dave R[redacted] and his Outstanding Staff.

On August 5, 2014 I took my truck to Tri City Transmission, because of a leak underneath the truck. I paid $78.00 for a diagnostic test to locate the leak or leaks in the transmission, and I paid $610.63 to have it fixed. I can't prove they did their job or not. I only know is that I still have a leaking problem, it is just as large as before.
I tried to talk to him, but he kept interrupting me and blurted out, "you are not going to over talk me", so I hungup. They said the labor would be free, but wanted $300.00 for a part. That is not going to happen. They have lost my business after going to them for 35 years.

we needed our transmission rebuilt and being from out of state, were concerned about finding an honest and reliable shop. Our friends from San Tan valley recommended Tri City to do the work. I cannot tell you how pleased we were with them. Ray,who handles the scheduling, co-ordination,etc. kept us fully informed each day with a pleasant phone call and fully explained any questions we had. Our car was back on the road soon, came with a great warranty and were even able to handle a couple other minor mechanical repairs needed. Dave runs his business like I do mine.Give honest and excellent service and charge a fair price.Thankyou Dave, Ray and all your crew. [redacted]

We have been going to Tri-City for four years now. My husband can not say enough good things about our transmission. The service we have received over the past years has been awesome. Even though I have had to take it in for the yearly check due to my husbands illness I have always been treated with respect and honesty. Yes as a woman who knows nothing about transmissions I would highly recommend this business to anyone. I drive from the [redacted] to receive the service. Thank all of you at Tri-City.

I was headed to flagstaff in my 2000 Honda Accord when my vehicle quit. I got towed to the closest shop. The shop diagnosed the clutch had gone out. I did some internet research and found Tri-City Transmission who is much closer to my home. I called them. I quickly felt more comfortable with them knowing this was there line of work. They settled the charges with the other shop, had the vehicle picked up, and had the clutch work finished the following afternoon. Tri-City Transmission was a Great Experience!

On different occasions, Tri-City Transmission has replaced a transmission in our Jeep and fixed a leak in our Jeep and in a Grand Caravan. They consistently perform to the highest levels, in customer service, and repairing the first time without having to make return visits. They are friendly and the service was quicker than expected. This is an outstanding business. I recommend it fully.

Good team of folks at Tri-City Transmission. I interfaced directly with both Tom and Ray regarding the overall of a Nissan 280ZX manual gearbox. The guys were great to deal with and communication about the work that needed to be accomplished was excellent. The work was completed per the schedule that was described.
Kudos to Dave [redacted] for assembling a great team at a nice shop. Recommended Auto Shop for sure.

[redacted] & Tri-City Transmission Staff,

Thank you for the professional transmission work on our 2004 Honda Accord. As a retired aerospace industry employee familiar with administration, fabrication, manufacturing and assembly processes, I was greatly impressed with your company processes: order entry, operations, customer service, customer education, billing. My wife particularly appreciated the facility tour complete with transmission and parts displayed for understanding the transmission rebuild process.

I spent more money for the Tri-City services compared to other transmission shops; however, I believe the transmission rebuild value (warranty, part and labor quality and transmission reliability) is aligned with the price.

I relayed my positive Tri-City Transmission experience to several family members as well as friends.

Keep up the excellent work!

[redacted] and his team did a great job on my daughter's Honda Civic. My regular mechanic told us we needed a new transmission so I took it to [redacted] for a second opinion. He determined the transmission was fine and figured out that the problem was with the air intake and made the repair. His team made repairs to the brake system as well and we are very satisfied with the work they did. I had been told two times by other mechanics the transmission needed replaced and it would have been easy at that point to sell me a new one. The team at Tri City did a great job of diagnosing the actual problem and making the proper repairs. I highly recommend [redacted] and his team.

Extremely satisfied with Tri-City Transmission. This is the type of "old School" service & knowledge that has been coupled with todays technology. Do what you say you'll do and do it when you say you'll do it ! That is how they perform. I am so pleased I found these guys - best of all, they were referred to me by another shop ! Complex issues are NO problem here. In the past few months I have had 2 large jobs done on 2 separate vehicles . Both turned out superior. Highest praise and recommendation from this customer. I would go no where else ! They should have a slogan - maybe something like ; All you expect + 1. [redacted] / Phoenix, AZ.

An Honest Transmission shop!!! This place is the best a solving transmission problems, they don't just change out your tranny, they dissect the problem 1st and then repair, I thought I need a new transmission, but after Tri City Tranny trouble shot and did further testing, it was the tranny software that was corrupted, they just reprogrammed my software and might truck runs like brand new. Thank you very much for saving me thousands!!!

Our experience with Tri -City Transmission was great from setting the appointment to driving away knowing that we were in good honest hands the entire time. Very pleasant and professional and we will definitely go there for all of our needs in the future!

The best car repair experience ever! They were honest, helpful and kept me informed as to what they were doing to my car.

Unfortunate situation, Excellent outcome
I have had my 2006 [redacted] longer than I would like. But right now, I need to get some more years out of it and I knew the transmission was going out. That’s where the guys at Tri-City Transmission come in. I had my transmission redone there and within a few miles of leaving their shop my check engine light came on. You can imagine my reaction. I was not happy! I turned around and went back to Tri-City.
The response I got was so unexpected. They immediately apologized and assumed responsibility. They gave me a loaner car so I could get on with my day. When things were all said and done, it had nothing to do with the work they performed. Over the years I have come to expect businesses to shirk responsibility which wasn’t the case with Tri-City. They stepped up when it wasn’t even their fault. Needless to say, my new transmission performs flawlessly, and I think my Explorer will be good for years to come!

The people at Tri-City Transmission have been so great! I don't even know where to start. I am a widow and single mom...it took me so long to save up to buy what I thought was a good used vehicle. However, within a week after I bought the car, the transmission went out!
I called Tri-City Transmission. [redacted] and [redacted] told me about the Arizona "Lemon Law" which says that "Your car is covered by the Arizona Used Car Lemon Law if a major component of your car breaks before the earlier of 15 days or 500 miles after you buy the car".
They told me that I legally have some recourse with the dealership that sold the vehicle, so I called the dealership. But the told me that they had treated my purchase as a "private party sale" and that the Lemon Law didn't apply(which is illegal for a dealer to do by the way).
[redacted] and [redacted] were so upset that they drove to the car lot and pleaded with the owner of the car lot to take the car back. The owner of the car lot refused. [redacted] told me if I went to small claims court he would be more than happy to show up and plead my case.
So we did end up going to court. Even though I signed an "As Is" agreement, [redacted] was able to convince the judge the vehicle was misrepresented. I didn't get all of my money back, but I did get half and kept the car. [redacted] told me the vehicle was not worth fixing and helped me sell it to a scrap yard for parts. At the end of the day I lost $1000, and several nights sleep. It was an expensive learning experience, but out of it, I got a new family at Tri-City Transmission, and an auto repair shop I can trust.
Tri-City Transmission never took a dime from me and when I asked them why they helped me, they said, "We treat all of our customers, especially the females as if they are our mother, daughter, or sister." They admitted that it wasn't something they normally would have the resources to do, but that they felt moved to help me. As a widow without a lot of options, I am grateful they did. Thank You, [redacted] and [redacted]!!!

Took my truck here and the what needed to be changed. Didn't happen, they ended up taking my truck home ( after being the fool and letting them) and "testing it". Which it came back looking like it was taken out off roading. They put 100 some odd more miles on my truck and used all my gas. After all said and done they changed out something that which didn't need it and claimed the problem was fixed. In the end I paid over $1,000.00 for their "work". BUT, on top of that I had to pay them for replacing the gas they used!! ( I tried to argue the point of them using up my gas and how ridiculous it would be to have to pay them to replace what they used up!?)!!! I wanted nothing to do with this company after that. Took it to another mechanic and he listened to me as the CUSTOMER and they fixed the problem and no problems ever since!! Thanks for nothing!!

I was referred to Tri-City by a friend who owns a auto body shop. He told my friend that Tri-City is the best of the best. When he repairs wrecked cars with tranmission damage he sends it to [redacted] at Tri-City.

I had my 1996 Diesel F250 Ford transmission rebuilt three years ago with a life time warranty. I couldn't understand how they could give such a warranty. Now I know. They are the best. My truck shifts great and now I don't have anything to worry about it, because [redacted] takes care of his customers. I will probably own taht truck until I die. I know that if I have transmission problems, [redacted] will take of it.

My second transmission repair was on my 2004 Toyota Corolla. It is a manual one. When I shifted into 4th and 5th I knew something was wrong when I heard an annoying houling sound. My first thought....go see [redacted] at Tri-City. Sure enough the bearings were shot. They fixed it but because it was a manual transmission, they only give a 12 month warranty since Tri-City has no control over how someone shifts.

After 17 months, the transmission started to houl again. I took it back to [redacted]. He told me that eevn though it was out of warranty, he would fix it and I would have to pay for parts only. Within a week it was done. He tore up the invoice. I asked him why. He said his reputation in on the line and he didn't want to disappoint me. After all, word of mouth is the best advertising.

Believe me! These people are the best and I will continue to take my vehicals to [redacted] because of his honest way of doing business. When you have transmission problems, take it to Tri-City Transmission!

I have nothing but praises for this organization and every person who I met there. They were all honest and helpful with their advice. I first contacted them over five years ago with a transmission problem on my [redacted]. Although it would require an overhaul to solve the problem then, they told me that nothing serious would happen if I let it go for a while. I got five more years before I finally had to go in for the overhaul. Their diagnosis and estimate were delivered on exactly. Finally, six months after the overhaul work, I was told by another company that the fluid was burned and needed attention. [redacted] showed me that the fluid was fine and that the other report was an obvious attempt to make me do unneeded work. At that same visit, he went with me on a short drive and observed an annoying "clunk" upon startup and stopping. That was there from the first day I bought the used truck. He set up a complimentary appointment to lubricate the drive shaft and after that short visit, the problem is completely gone! These examples show the nature of their work. I recommend that anyone with a tranny problem go to Tri-City for a diagnosis.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the service I got at Tri City. I work on my own car a lot and I'm frankly used to corrupt repair shops. I had already been to other transmission shops and was told I needed a new transmission. I took a chance on Tri City and agreed to pay their diagnostic fee and they fixed my transmission problem immediately and I owed less than the diagnostic fee. I was so pleased not to have to replace the transmission. It is running great now. I would trust them again.
