Ultimate Security Reviews (39)

Today I find out that a charge of $18 has been withdrawn from my mother-in-laws account now for at least 5 years and she had not paid attention to it....once the charge was looked at,it comes from a company called "My Alarm Center"....However when I questioned her she said the only security system they ever had was 5 years ago from "ultimate security" and it was cancelled 5 years ago...Upon going to Ultimate Security they have no file over this account..But I was told that the former owner sold several accounts to this company on his way out the door.

I'd like to point out the irony in the situation as I do web development - a security system company selling your accounts out online...This is highly unethical to me and I would like to warn anyone the dangers of dealing with businesses that do this...

Your information and accounts should never be sold to another company especially one that deals with security...I would recommend a franchised company that isn't in danger of going out of business..We have now stopped payment since it's been found but the chances of recovering what we are owed over a 5 year period are slim considering the company that bought the account was under the understanding that the account was valid

Per [redacted], Youngstown Area Director, we continued the work for [redacted] and he is now satisfied.

Excellent job. courteous and professional

I had a sewer back-up issue on a Sunday afternoon. I was unable to reach any other plumbing company. Mr. Rooter's Chris G[redacted] drove 40 minutes to our location, ran a power snake, and resolved the issue while being friendly and professional. Charges were very reasonable.

On 7/14/15 I called Mr. Rooter of youngstown out to my home as I was having water coming into my basement from my downspout drain. After speaking to a few family friends they recommended that I call Mr Rooter and request for W[redacted] to come out to see what was going on. When he arrived to my home he was very polite professional represenitive of the company. He was very knowledgeable and gave me multiple choices on how to resolve my issue. We started out with snaking the line. That would not work after an hour of him trying. So we went to the next step which was high pressure water jetting. He was able to insert the jet about 15 ft into the line. Water started oozing from the yard. We then made the decision to excavate and replace the downspouts that have been in the ground since the 50's. I have to say W[redacted] is a very hard working man and is a huge asset to mr rooter. Keep up the good work.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted]9, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Responses from Mr Rooter are beginning to get so far off of the facts that I, personally, would be embarrassed to send them. The March 6 response states the following: [redacted] offered the cleaning options and I chose the hydro jet. True A cleanout was found in the family room after looking outside and in the garage area for the main cleanout, [redacted] was never told there was one in the house. TOTAL FABRICATION #1. There are no cleanouts in the family room. They are all in the basement. #2. [redacted] attempted to use the hydro jet from the kitchen cleanout IN THE BASEMENT. He never asked if there were any other cleanouts and I did not have the plumbing knowledge to know that he should have. Who is the plumber here? #3 The only time we were outside and in the garage was when [redacted] was trying to find the end of the camera with his locator. The camera end was approximately 55 feet into the line FROM THE BASEMENT and stopped at the "impassable blockage". Neither of us knew which direction the pipe went. Again, I am not a plumber and I don't claim to be. There appears to be other people who are not plumbers either. You stated that [redacted] said the camera was 74-80 feet into the drain line. I was looking at the camera with [redacted] and it went black at approximately 55 feet. Now that we know which direction the line goes, you are more than welcome to come measure the distance to where he said he found the camera end if you wish. Regardless, the "impassable blockage" was stated to be three feet beyond the basement wall. You stated that when [redacted] returned from outside the locator went off showing the drain line was in fact inside. FALSE [redacted] was locating the end of the camera: NOT the drain line. Had he asked about any other cleanouts beside the kitchen cleanout, I would have shown him the other three. [redacted] jetted through the cleanout located where the basement was flooding. TRUE [redacted] was hired to remove the blockage. [redacted] DID NOT do that. I was forced to hire another plumber to remove the blockage. I was told by [redacted] that there was an "impassable blockage" three feet beyond the basement wall. The second plumber found the blockage 80 feet beyond where [redacted] said the "impassable blockage" was. I was told the "impassable blockage" repair would be $[redacted]. What if I had not gotten the second opinion? I would have paid Rooter $[redacted] for a fictitious blockage plus had the aggravation of having my basement torn up. The permaliner would have gone 25 feet, but the roots were 80 feet away. What good would that have done? On 12-06-07 Mr Rooter performed a Hydro scrub for the same blockage from the exact same cleanout [redacted] used and they went a distance of 150 feet. Why were they able to do that and [redacted] could not? I still have the invoice in case it is needed. There are a lot of things wrong with this entire scenario including the diagnosis of an "impassable blockage three feet beyond the basement wall" and a $[redacted] quote for the repair of that. I want a full refund of the $[redacted] I paid. If you wish to continue this banter, I will. I promise that I will do anything within my power that I need to do to get my refund. I will not pay for a service I contracted for but did not receive. Nor will I bow and go away. I contracted for [redacted] to remove the blockage. He did not. I had to call a second plumber to do that. Why is that? If you wish for me to go public with this or to go civil, just state that in your next response and I will take it from there.

Synopsis:
Our sewer line at our residence became clogged and sewage backed up into our basement. I had four companies come to our home to give estimates for repairing/replacing the sewer line from our house to the road. (Two of those companies snaked the line.) Two companies use the procedure to dig a trench and replace all the sewer line. Two companies use the procedure to reline the section of the line that was in better shape, and dig a trench and replace the short section that was in the worst shape – where the belly is. Which method they used (reline versus dig a trench and replace) didn’t seem to affect the cost significantly, in this case. However, that will depend on what you dig the trench through that gets destroyed (landscaping, driveway, trees, etc.) The costs given ranged from just under $4,000 to just under $13,000. Technicians from all companies were polite and acted professionally. When you have sewage in your basement, it is understandable that you might spend a few extra dollars to get someone to come in quickly and unclog it. But please remember, if you think you need to replace your sewer line, there is generally no hurry in having it done since your line was just cleared. Take your time and get 3 or 4 (or more) estimates. Research the companies and the methods they use. I don’t know if I should call the repairmen technicians, or if they should be called salesmen.
This company:
Mr. Rooter recommended we replace our sewer line. It had the second highest cost to repair/replace the sewer line, over three times that of the lowest. Other companies stated that Mr. Rooter exaggerated the severity of the belly and the amount of roots. Other companies said the sewer line did not need repaired.
Mr. Rooter asked me what another company charged. I told them and I suspect they took the first company’s bloated price and just lowered it a little to outbid it.
Would I recommend? No

We had Mr Rooter do extensive plumbing work. Our house in on a slab with radiant floor heating and our work was all to do with the sanitary lines. The results are very good and each of the crew members were courteous and competent. We would recommend them..

[redacted],In regards to your issues addressed in your complaint, I would like to respond to them one by one, in accordance to the numbered list you provided:1) One of our Journeyman plumbers, [redacted], was the initial plumber on site. He attempted to cable the drain three times and...

was unable to get to the desired depth to clear the clog. Due to this, he advised to proceed with a camera, following proper company protocol. The camera was completed at NO CHARGE.2) Due to the state that the pipe was in and the excessive buildup in the sewer line, we were unable to get a clear view of the sewer line and blockage. At that time, we left an estimate on 11/19/14 for $[redacted] to start at the point that our camera was able to reach and we were able to inspect. After 1 day, the customer called in and decided to go with the work for the pricing given. It was scheduled based upon the customer's schedule for us to complete the work.3) The pricing that [redacted] left for you was for "UP TO 10 FEET" of PVC piping, which includes the blockage area of 4 feet.4) Our crew started the work, repaired the sewer line; due to the sewer line running in a different direction that we were unable to see prior to digging due to blockage. At that point, [redacted] completed a camera inspection of the rest of the line after it was replaced. 5) The gas line was leaking, as it was encased in and under concrete. Being the professionals that we are, we refuse to turn gas on to a leaking line, as we will not be responsible for a potential disaster knowing what could happen. 6) If there is any damaged duct work due to anything that Mr. Rooter Plumbing has done, we will be more than willing to fix this matter.7) [redacted] had a conversation with the area manager, [redacted], and [redacted] stated that he would have his own Journeyman inspector on site to do an inspection to ensure it was done properly IN ADDITION to our own Journeyman plumber on site throughout excavation to ensure all work was done to code and in the correct manner. Also, a few points that I would like to address with you:1) Anyone stating to this customer that [redacted] is "untouchable" is an irresponsible and false accusation. This statement was never made, nor has it ever been discussed with any customer. It is a fabrication and poor interpretation of a conversation that may or may not have ever taken place. 2) From the start of this job, [redacted] had it in his mind, due to past experiences with other companies, that he was being taken advantage of this time as well. Therefore, we believe it puts us in the same position due to bad practices of other companies and other services. We diagnosed this job properly, as we would any other job of this type in the past and/or future. We went above and beyond to satisfy this customer's needs, including working after hours and on weekends. If there is anything further that we can address or resolve, please let us know.Thank you,Mr. Rooter Plumbing

In response to this complaint.  First Mr. Rooter would like to ask why wait a year to submit a complaint? One thing that was not mentioned in the complaint was the fact a camera was used to determine the cause of the drain issues.  This was done at no charge.  The finding where there...

was a break in the drain line.  [redacted] was then notified and stated he has additional quotes to repair the drain because of on going issues from the past.  Mr. Rooter matched the price of the other contractors to do the work but [redacted] said he was flying in from California to fix himself.  Our camera technician even met with him to go over the job on site and the customer asked at that point if he dug it up if Mr. Rooter would pipe it in.  We agreed to do this and was to call us when the pipe was exposed, Mr. Rooter never heard from him again.  The first communications from [redacted] was actually from his credit card company regarding the charge back.  We answered the complaint and per Discover Card payment was for Mr. Rooter. The next communication from him was this complaint, a full year after services.

I can't say enough good about the two techs that were sent out to my home this morning. Their professionalism from wearing shoe covers upon entering my home to cleaning their work area up after they were done. These guys got it going on and I believe that they are a huge asset to this company. I would highly recommend J[redacted] and W[redacted] to work in anybodys home.

February 24, 2015 Complaint ID # [redacted] In response to [redacted] complaint, [redacted] didhydroscrub the drain line. [redacted]told [redacted] to jet...

through a drain in his basement even though [redacted] wanted tojet through a clean out.  After hydroscrubbing the drain line [redacted] noticed more water coming up and used the cameraand locator to find where the problem was. 15-20 minutes of location workoutside, [redacted] found the issue was under the new addition to the house.   [redacted] asked [redacted] how much it would costto repair the line, [redacted] recommended a PermaLiner so the new addition would bespared.   [redacted] offered to hydro scrubthe drain line again and called [redacted] but [redacted] did not receive a returncall to schedule at time to come out.   Regards,[redacted] ..

Outstanding service by the technician.

Mr Rooter was very professional, prompt to respond to plumbing problem at one of my rental units. John R was very nice, polite and professional. Mr Rooter should be very glad to have him as a representative. Overall rating is excellent. Thank You.

They were at my home within the hour. C[redacted], the tech, was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He addressed our concerns and gave us additional options to consider in the future. I would like to add this was just a slow draining main, not an emergency and yet they still arrived within 60 minutes. We were extremely satisfied with the work performed and the time in which it was completed. ( 30 minutes ) We highly recommend their services.

The manager/owner of this franchise is a five star winner, and this is a valuable service at an affordable price. I have used it three times, my own home and on a rental. I see that there are some negative reviews here, but this business is loaded with risk because bad sewer lines create problems that break equipment and cause backups that can only be repaired with excavation of the lines. My son was a plumber in another state, and a few complaints out of probably thousands of jobs is not bad. I am a real estate broker with no relationship to this firm.w

Review: Our small business purchased 16 security cameras and 2DVRs with a 3 year warranty & installation from Jon Fenton / Ultimate Security in Spring 2013. Within the first year, we had issues with the cameras and DVRs. This first time, he repaired the equipment after 2 months of communication. In year two, we are having the same problems with cameras & DVRs. He has ignored all forms of communication to fix the problems including phone messages, emails, and a formal legal request sent by our lawyers in October 2014.Desired Settlement: We are not sure if the Revdex.com can settle this for us, since we are out of state. We just want our equipment repaired AND if necessary replaced, so that our security system is back to its original working order. We know his business as:Ultimate Security[redacted]Phone: ###-###-####Email: [redacted]Licensed & BondedCal. State Contractors Lic. #[redacted]Cal. Alarm Company Lic. #[redacted]Cal.
