Called United Cab company on Friday, August 25 for a ride Saturday morning, August 26, to Hopkins airport. Dispatch assured me driver would call while on the way. I know they have a 15 minute early or late arrival time. Saturday I picked up my friend EARLY to be at my home to wait for the cab. A short, stocky elderly gentleman with a European accent in an unmarked gray van arrived 35 minutes early ! I stated he was early and he just shrugged and smiled. No calls were received by me from the driver. My friend and I had four pieces of luggage. Two carry ons and two large bags. He first put my friend's large bag in and turned to us and said, "Aren't you going to help me ?" I was shocked ! We are 73 and 63 and I have bad knees. I turned to him and said, "no, it's your job to put our luggage in the trunk and drive us to the airport." He turned to me and said "You're being mean to me." He took my friends luggage out and left us ! I was in shock ! I will NEVER use their service again.
Mrs. *** did call the cab company for a trip to the airport. The driver states he arrived 15 minuted early and told the passenger he would wait till they were ready. When Mrs.M*** saw the driver she was upset and told the driver he owed her $10.00 dollars. The driver did not know what she was talking about. She stated to him that he over charged her on a previous ride. the driver stated he never seen her before. While the driver was loading the luggage into the vehicle she was speaking rude to him. the driver did not feel comfortable and thought it would be best to not take them. The driver was brought into the office and explained that there are better ways to handle the situation if he didn't feel safe. we do apologize to Mrs M and the proper steps were taking to insure something like this does not happen in the future. Re: The driver's version of what happened. First of all, he did NOT arrive 15 minutes early. It was 35 minutes, over 1/2 hour early ! Again, he did not say anything about waiting for us. I never said he owed me $10 from a previous ride. I was never rude to him. The only thing that was said was that he asked us to help him with our luggage. I said it is your job to put in the luggage and drive us to the airport. That is when he said I was being mean to him and left us. I hardly think two female senior citizens asking for help is something that should make him uncomfortable. Again, I was not rude or threatening. My friend can vouch for my actions. She was there and saw everything that happened.
