Universal Moving Services Reviews (23)

I contracted with Universal Moving Services to move my bedroom apartment (clothing, utensils, furniture) from Indianapolis to BirminghamThe contract was signed at the end of July 14, specifically stating a move date of August 3/4, I was verbally promised a day delivery in Birmingham but understood that the contract stated a 3-business day delivery limit I submit this complaint on the '10th business day' for the following reasonsThe Universal moving companies' movers did not show up until August 5, Afterwards, despite repeated phone calls, I was unable to get any member of staff to tell me the expected date of delivery of my B/RThe phone appeared to either be unmanned or my call was being deliberately ignored ( the general phone number on the website, advised you to call a mobile number) I should mention that I have kept up my own end of the contract and paid the initial depositThe payment required at movement

So many problems with this company, The first thing is that they tried to charge us a outrageous amount when although my boxes were small, we had packed all the boxes already, I was told when they arrived, they had to be in huge moving boxes which we were not ever told over the phone Then they said that we filled an entire large moving truck and said it was ft which doesn’t even exist on the [redacted] site! If this was truly a legit moving company they would have had their own trucks anywayWe were also told that our things would be in a climate controlled truck and safely put in storageI had asked for this because we have a pianoThat truck was definitely not climate controlled To top it all off all the cash in my wife’s purse was missing after the guys had leftShe knew they had taken it because one of the guys was coming out of her closet when she specifically told them nothing in there was to be moved, such a violation after she was extremely nice to them, even gave

WARNING: DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY!!! This is by far the worst and most unprofessional company I have ever worked with that never did the job and left us with no warningI had to relocate about large file cabinets filled with paper medical records from Indiana to VirginiaI received a quote, working with Abbey, and she assured me that there would be no problem and that the cabinets would be taken as isWhen the movers arrived at our location in Indiana (about hrs late), the drivers (Joel and a second man I never got the name of) told me that it would be impossible and that I would have to empty the file cabinetsWe called his supervisor, Joseph, as well as Abbey and her supervisor to try to straighten out the issueI believe Joseph runs the company, and he was incredibly rudeNot only did he not try to fix the situation that his employees were responsible for, he actually hung up on me as I was trying to speak with himAfter another hour of trying to figure out what to do, we were told that the only option would be to transfer the files into boxes and take them separately, which would essentially double the shipping cost as we were being charged by volume rather than by weightThey told us that there would be an additional packing cost on top of the increased fees, but with no other real alternatives, we tried to negotiate a lower price for the volume, as the whole situation was due to their mistakeJoel then told us that he would come back the next morning and that Joseph would call us back shortly or early the next morning with details of the cost and how things would work We never saw them againJoseph never called us back, and the drivers just leftWe ended up having to repackage and throw out a bunch of things to fit everything in a U-Haul and drove it ourselves After a rather hellish ordeal, I would STRONGLY urge you to find a different company

I recently moved from [redacted] to [redacted] **I hired [redacted] as moving company to move my belongings to my new addressThe person of contact was Abby W [redacted] The binding moving estimate was of $ On July 31, 2018, the dispatchers from [redacted] were supposed to come to my apartment for pick upInstead, a rental truck showed upHence, I sent an email to Abby W [redacted] She provided the following answer: "The driver coming in a rental is typical during seasonIf all of our trucks are out for pickups, we sometimes have to rent a truck to fulfill all the moving demands during season." The dispatchers, however, belonged to another company, [redacted] LLCI realized that they were from a different company when the truck was already loaded and I had to sign the paperworkOn the paperwork, the Full Value Protection Amount of Liability was crossed out, even though I was eligible according to the binding estimate

hired Universal Moving to relocate us from Findlay Ohio to Key West Florida. Picked up all of our belongings on 8-1-2018 with a promise of delivery in 7-10 business days at our new residence in Key West. It has been more than 20 days and the company will not return any of our phone calls, emails, or texts.

My Wife and I hired Universal Moving Services to complete our Move from Dunedin, Florida to Atlanta Georgia. we did a deposit 1/30/18 with the company to hire them for their moving services on 2/17/18. A gentleman with Universal called and confirmed with us Friday morning 2/16 that they would be at our house between 9am and 1pm Saturday. On Saturday my wife, and 6 month baby waited for the moving company until 12:45 where I called Stacey the reservations rep with universal Moving and she stated she would call us back. after 45 minutes of waiting for a return call, I rang Stacey again at 1:30pm and actually got hung up on by her or someone who answered her phone. We then heard from a company called [redacted] at 2pm Saturday 2/17/18 asking if their driver was there and then stating that the pick up time was at 3pm-4pm. we had no idea who this company was or why they were picking up our items. We have a 6 month old baby and we were planning on Traveling to Atlanta on Saturda

The moving company collected my items on March 19th and even after telling me a number of times that the items were headed to my new home, they only began the move on 4/The delivery window was business daysThe final date for the delivery within the contract window is 4/17, but they will not make that deadlineThe manager or owner has yet to contact me about how we will settle the final bill given the failure to deliver in the window on the contract

Contract, customer service and delivery complaintWe were given a binding contract which quoted my move at $Upon arrival for pick up They're were a day late and told us the move will now be over $10,After back and forth disagreements we settled for $6,evenStill way above the contracted priceI have mailed payments for the storage unit they have for me and they claimed they haven't recieved itNow I've been trying to call and pay via credit card and no one is answering any of their phone linesIf I cant mail or call in a payment how will I receive my families belongingsWhere is our property? Is it lost, stolen, sold or being held hostage so they can collect more monthly payments?
First payment after quote was via credit card Upon arrival they received cashThen afterwards credit card or check

Seriously, do not use this companyHere are just a couple of the highlights from using themThe movers were several hours late to both pick up and deliveryThe delivery arrived after 3am when it was scheduled for 4-7pmSeveral items were broken or damaged, including several pieces of furniture and over itemsAt least boxes are completely missing, even though the moving representative assured me my stuff would be kept separate by a gateI was verbally assured by both the moving representative and the movers that they would have my stuff delivered within business days, but it took them over and half weeksI was charged more than triple the estimateThey will not respond when I try to contact themThey also left several moving blankets and a lot of trash around my house after moving me in

Contacted this business to move my son from NY to Louisville, KYTold them upfront that it was imperative his stuff get there by a certain date, 7/23/and was told there should be no issuesHe was staying a new job as a teacher and would be unable to take off and leave a classroom full of children to meet the truckI was informed that I would be kept updated if there was any issues and if they anticipated any delaysNeedless to say, they arrived days after the requested dateI understand issues arise but there was no communication from them about the delays and when my son called for an update he was told by dispatch that they had no idea what he was talking about or where his things wereWhat was appalling to me us the way that we were treated when trying to ascertain informationThere was a woman, Abby, who was helpful but because of her position could only do so muchShe referred us to her supervisor named TaylorFrom the start of our interactions he was unprofessional,

We had used Universal Moving on transporting our home good from CT to FLI can only describe the office people as professional, kind and truly capable of providing the service they quote for

Universal Moving Services sent a third party to pick up our items on May 26, from Eliot, Maine to move to IllinoisWe initially received a quote from a rep named Abby for $When the drivers arrived, the bill ended up being $7,Fast forward, we called and called for a delivery date of our furniture with no answerOur furniture was finally delivered on July 21, We were disheartened when it arrivedFirst, the driver went to a local shelter and picked up two gentlemen to help unload the truckThey knocked a hole in our wall taking furniture upstairsThe driver was rude, and was rushing to get to the next moving job, so he left the two gentlemen at our homeMy husband ended up taking both men to the trainSeveral of our furniture items were missingSomeone literally repacked a box that we had clearly marked "fragile" China and dishes" in a wardrobe box with one of our automobile tiresAll of our dishes were brokenParticularly fine china that our dear aunt l

I hired this company to move my apartment home (furniture and other personal belongings) from Tampa Florida to Denver Co
The driver that came to pick up my stuff tried to rip me off by trying to charge me an extra $on top of what they already charged meI contacted his Supervisor and his supervisor informed me that I should not pay the extra money that his employee tried to charge meThen, the driver that was supposed to pack up my stuff left alot of my stuff behindI took that with a grain of salt thinking the worst was over
My stuff gets to Denver and my bed is broken, my dresser legs, is broken and the other is scratched pretty badlyMy night stand has shattered glass all over it and my cups and plates are brokenI told the driver of the truck who goes by the name Dan that my stuff is damaged and he nonchalantly said "don't worry about it, it will all be fine"
They empty the truck and said they were all doneHalf of my stuff is missing that they took from
