Universal Transmission Complete Auto Repair, LLC Reviews (42)

Mr*** called us in for an appointment almost two weeks prior and never showed up. He brought his car in on Monday, November 28, towed in because there was absolutely NO BRAKES on his vehicle. We had a few cars in front on his so we needed time to diagnose and work on his
vehicle, besides he mentioned to us that the vehicle has been sitting for months and there was no rushAfter the diagnosis, we determined that he needed brake lines, rear brakes and rotors. His rotors were so bad that even if we would had resurfaced them, it still would not work properly. He mentioned to us that the car was from up north and by my experience I can tell you that if a vehicle is from up north, the car becomes rusty due to the salt eating up the metal making the rotors rusted and crackedHe was also was advised that in the future additional brake lines will need to be replaced because of the rust as wellThe vehicle is a *** which many of the parts are discontinued or must be ordered via internet or a special vendor. The vehicle brake lines were not standard measurements, they are metric lines of 7mm and needed to be special orderedWhen he picked up the vehicle he wanted us to provide our part numbers and itemized the parts we purchased. We explained to him that his invoice with the description of services and lump sum total is the only receipt he gets which includes his warranty. If he has a question about that, he needs to contact the State of *** ***’s Office. Which stipulates in their law that if a business that supplies service to a consumer does not hold a resale certificate of taxes, they must use the lump sum rule LAW. This is not my rule, this comes from the State of *** ***’s Office… He called us after he left to request his old partsThe parts are thrown out daily to keep the shop clean per OSHA and insurance purpose. If he wanted his old parts, he should have told us when the car was dropped off and we would have been happy to have saved it for him. The next claim is that we stole his tire lock. What would I do with his tire lock of his car? I was told by the mechanic that he put the tire lock in the exact place he took it from which was the glove compartment. Please look carefully in the glove compartment again. The final complaint was that we damaged his power steering while servicing the brakes. First I want to explain that the brake line does not run into the power steering at all. We do not need to remove your sub frame at all. Ask any mechanic. I want to point out that the only reason we apologized about the cap being off was just out of common courtesy because I can guarantee you that we did not touch anything on your power steering. You did not pay us to look or repair anything to do with the power steering So why would I touch it. My mechanics do not work for freeYour car has been sitting for months, maybe you or someone else looked at the power steering fluid because you were already having a steering problem prior to bringing the car to our shop months ago. I am not sure but we did not need to touch itIf you have any problems with the brake lines, rear brakes and rear rotor we replaced, please feel free to come by so we can repair under warranty

Your brakes were completely out. We charged you according to what was need to repair it. The price that was charged to you was a great price for all that was done. The job did take three hours however again, we had to special order the parts, we had cars in front of your repair. We work by first come first serve. No one gets any priority before another. Again we do not need to touch your power steering ask any mechanics. As far as the wheel lock, we have no use for it. Again please if you have a problem with the work we did, under warranty we will repair it if need be. We don't give refunds we give a warranty. There is nothing further I can explain. You paid for what you needed only

We have an email on receipt and on website that only the owners see We did not receive it We did not promise you anything You are more than welcome to see the videos and reports from the police We can give you a used battery Sorry but that is all we can do for you

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  The fact that you service thousands of customers is irrrlevant to the situation. The fact of the matter is there was no agreed upon 30 day warranty that is why you dont have no proof of 30 day warranty was agreed nor was there any signature because that is a generic reciept typed up. if this will not be solved through the better business I will consult with my lawyer with mt own documentation sincd there is no originals from your establishment I have repeatedly asked for the signed reciept failure to produce one institutes that you dont have one since there was no agreement on that and also FYI. [redacted] and over 15 more locations before you was contscted with the same price for transmission repair with 1 to 2 year warranty with the same price so why would I go to you with a 30 day on a mahor engine component, but as I said if this continues legal action is to come very soon unfortunately. As repair shops you all need to take note that you are taking peoples hard earn money and some of work hard enough for it to make sure we get the srrvicrs worth what we paid and will not let shops like you decieve them.

Regards,
Hi, they're such of liars, I have proof of my old cluster even in their invoice they type my old mileage on it, so they telling that they didn't swap my cluster? even they left it without any bolts on, come on Revdex.com do something about these thieves. I asked them to fix my transmission NOT the other issues that has nothing to do with the transmission, but why lying about the wipers? when they're automatic from [redacted]? broken mirrors? I HAVE PICTURES & PROOF, but thanks Revdex.com for covering this thieves 1 more time, Hopefully I will see them in court, thanks.

I am sorry that your vehicle is not working properly.  We supply all of our customers with a copy of the invoice which states the warranty at the time when the vehicle is picked up. I was informed that you and your wife came in and we test drove your vehicle and concluded that you had...

an electrical issue with your vehicle.  The cluster on the dashboard is shorting out and we supplied you with another invoice that states $1,500 with a 30 days warranty.  I will be looking into this a little further.  Thank you for your comments.

First I would like to state that I have never made any attempt to blackmail anyone at any time. Second they did misdiagnosed my truck because there manager admitted that they where way over there head with work that they even suspended him and his supervisor for a few days. He was also suspended because he mislead me about the free rdi and when I first went they offered my full reimbursement of 495$. Then when I went back they only offered half which I did not agree upon. Also they have websites for all of there shops up except for the one that has my bad review of what happened that day. I would like the rdi plus $500 for transmission plus $500 for installation since they misdiagnosed my truck and made me get a new transmission installed when  my truck did not need one

We rebuilt Mr. [redacted] transmission on his [redacted] but his vehicle has multiple problems.  First of all his vehicle had an electrical problem.  The dashboard had several lights on:check engine light, ABS light, turn signal lights on permanently, wipers would not turn off as soon as you...

turn the vehicle on.  The two side mirrors were broken off.  You can definitely tell that this car is not taken care of and he thinks that fixing the transmission will repair all his problems.  That is impossible.  The parts for this type of vehicle are very expensive.  He mentioned that we replaced his cluster, something that we would NEVER do.  In those types of cars you can't just replace the cluster because if you do the car will not start.  You would have to take the car to the dealership and have it reprogrammed.  He is making excuses and wants his car to be completely fixed with just one repair.  One repair has nothing to do with the other.

Mr. [redacted] came in for a diagnosis.  During our diagnosis we found that the
transmission was jerking.  We suggested
that a RDI was necessary.  We received
his signature for approving an RDI at a price of $495.00.  Also there is a sign posted in our office that
explains the RDI...

procedure because some customers do not know or understand
what a RDI consist of.
After our RDI diagnosis we concluded that there were hard
part damages within the transmission.  He
rejected the job and was to take his vehicle.
He took his vehicle and posted a bad review.  Later he called and stated that if we pay him
that he would take the review down and put a good review.  That is blackmail besides we don’t pay anyone
to put a review on our behalf.  We have
thousands of satisfied customers that it is not necessary for us to dirty our
hands that way.
Mr. [redacted] came into my [redacted] location stating that we
misdiagnosis his vehicle.  Sylvia said
whether we misdiagnosis it or not we are willing to give you half the RDI
fee.  At no time we stated that we did
misdiagnosis his vehicle.  [redacted] showed
Mr. [redacted] his damage transmission parts and explained that the pistons were bad,
friction material were bad and the vehicle has over 100,000 driven miles and
normal wear and tear had occurred.

Regards,
It does not surprise me of the inaccurate response by the business and its denial. First of all I did not call two weeks prior. I actually drove to his location. He mentioned that due to the holiday coming up that it would be faster if I came after the holiday. Mr. Luis also mentioned something that my car sat for three months and that was a contributing factor and by my car coming from up north that was a contributing factor all of that is baloney. Yes I drove over 800 miles in that 1997 [redacted] which now only has 101,000 miles on it in may 2015. It made the trip fine and I had been driving it for over one year and a half here in Houston without any problems. The brakes went out just three months ago. I then saved money to be able to repair brakes in that three month period that it sat. Also during that three month period I had a new Brake Master Cylinder put on. The steering was still working then also and If necessary I can provide mechanic info to verify that. My steering problem happened and was noticed as soon as I pulled off his lot. I have military insurance which covers road hazard and the tow company that towed the car to Universal transmission shop never mentioned steering problems to load up on to the bed. I can provide information from that company as well. As far as he not giving me my old parts I asked for them in advance that he put in my car. If the old parts were that bad wouldn't a legitimate and honest shop show the customer the old parts to let them know why they are replacing them. Especially if they claim they give the best service as he did to me. He mentioned something that I said it was sitting for three months and I said there was no rush. I am confused as to what he is implying. He told me it was a three hour job. I waited from 1000am or so until they closed at the store. I called back on Tuesday twice and left a message which they never returned I then drove up there on wendsday at noon to check on my car. Does these actions appear to be the one of someone who says there is no rush or of someone who wants the shop and mr. luis to do what he says when he says. In other words hold him accountable to what his business says it will do.As far as this mumbo jumbo of it is the state law that if a business provides a service to a consumer who does not have a resale certificate of taxes I do not know what he  means. Is he saying I need to hold a certificate of taxes? Is he saying he does not hold one? If he does not hold one he did not inform me of this shortcoming before he took my money and did the service. Quite simply I as other consumers want to know what you did by line item and what you charged me for each item and how long you charged me to do it. This lump some stuff I never heard of and albeit is used to cheat the public. The brake line pieces cost were under $50.00 so I do not see the complication. The lock nut that they kept was not in the glove compartment and the plastic bag I had it in was empty sitting on the back seat. I initially put it in the plastic bag and in the console. In conclusion there has been many complaints on this store listed by the Revdex.com I wish I would have looked before I talked to mr. Luis and fell for his lying sales pitch of customer service. I stand behind there was no steering problem before universal transmission worked on my car and have witnesses to testify as such. I stand behind I probably did not need rotors or brake pads. The brake pads I had had a lifetime warranty and if I had the old parts I could have got them replaced free of charge. As for the rotors again the fact he never put them in the car as I requested or even showed me how allegedly bad they were speaks for itself

I would like this all to be done. I am asking you to please pick up your block as soon as possible.  Again we will not be responsible after the initial date that I requested you pick it up please.

We would like to help you fix your vehicle.  We had to remove and dismantle transmission to give you a price.  Please let us help you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  I know what was told to us and who said it. On top of that you guys lack professionalism. I've asked for the OWNERS information on numerous occasion which was never provided to me.
Regards,

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  The statement that was submitted by the Business made sense. However, all of the details of the process was not communicated to me prior to them taking out my transmission. I was told that it would $395 to take a look at my transmission and that was it. If I would have known they would try to charge me $800 to just tell me what was wrong I would have walked out instantly.  The guy that was at the counter did not do a good job with communicating that it would be an additional $395 if I decided not to get my transmission repaired. I was very unhappy with the experience with your company. In the result of his negligence, I had to get a rental car for a week and suffered mental anguish dealing with this Company.  I didn't sign off on any type of  agreement prior to them taking out my transmission. In reality your team took out my transmission without consent. I signed the invoice after the fact only because you wouldn't release my vehicle and I have police report that states that. I am giving you an opportunity to settle out of court. If you feel like your worker was not negligent and I feel as though he was. I will go ahead and take this matter to court to resolve.
Thanks

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.
You would like this to all be done but at your convenience of course as it is a major inconvenience for me but I'll try my very best to get my block. I won't forget to bring the keys you guys left in my car that go to someone's Nissan. God bless!

We have solved the issue. Customer picked up vehicle.

We did do the work stated by the customer.  We do not have the equipment to do a wheel alignment.  Once the vehicle was completely paid for we were going to tell him that he needs to get it done.  He has not yet paid in full and we did him the favor in allowing him to make...

payments while the vehicle stays at our shop and this is how he repays us.  He said it, the car was only test driven for 30 miles and there is no way if they were new tires that should happen.  I will pay for the two new tires only if he pays me $30 a day for storage from the first day the car was completed.

We have on file giving you a 30 day warranty.  Unless you have another paper that is what stands.  [redacted] is not my facility and can price any job anyway they want to.  Some reasons is there are new parts, rebuilt parts, and used parts.  Technicians all get paid differently.  The time you bought your vehicle to my shop verses when and if you took your vehicle to another shops vary because when I touched your vehicle, I priced a transmission that has never been rebuilt and automatically have more normal wear and tear verses you taking it somewhere when the transmission was already rebuilt you are going to have less damage and less wear and tear therefore your price should be lower or given a better warranty. These are a few examples why transmission cost differently. Please give me an invoice where you state you have a one year warranty and we will repair your transmission according to your records.

[redacted], my name is Carmen T[redacted].  I am one of the owners at Universal Transmission.  Percy and I was spoke about the situation you claim that happen at one of my shops.  You state that you have our receipt that reads the miles of 174,902 and that your vehicle is at or around 226,702.  I invite you to come to the office where I work at. I'm at [redacted] from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday - Friday and Saturdays 8 am - 1 pm.  It is only 2 minutes away from my Westpark Store. Please bring your car and your receipt. The pictures you submitted does not specify dates which is unclear to me when the pictures were taken.  I am responsible for all the payments that go in and out of my company and when cluster are replaced, they need to be reprogrammed.  I went back to all my receipts and did not see any receipt that reflects that a cluster being programmed at a dealership or anywhere else in that case. I look forward in meeting you really soon...
