Background check did not show current information. The address of the person being checked was years old and missed 3 more current addresses since. When state-wide check was run it was run for the wrong state because their information was so wrong. Extrememly dissapointed with the service, current address is public information.

Review: I signed up for a trial membership and canceled prior to the trial ending. Almost a month passed by and my partner reminded me to make sure the membership was canceled. I logged into my account to confirm, clicked the link to check and confirmed I had canceled it. It was in fact canceled per the website. I wake up today and receive an email about automatic renewals. I thought that was strange. I checked my bank account and my account was charged. I contacted the business and was treated by a man that refused to give me his full name. He was rude and combative. He claimed his name was [redacted]. He argued with me back and forth till I said I would contact you guys. He just wouldn't listen. They trick people with their instructions for canceling. You can't even remove your card information. It's locked in online. That is not safe. I want a refund. The customer's cancellation request was received after the 3 day trial had ended. As a courtesy, we have refunded this month's charge of $24.95.

When asked to immediately remove my sensitive information, the company requested a handwritten form be sent in to their PO Box in Sacramento, CA, even though the company is an internet-based business that can easily process any and all requests online or by phone. They require forms be mailed in to deter requests to remove personal information. Deceptive and unethical practices coupled with a disregard of the opinions of the people whose information they are sharing.Desired Settlement: Remove my personal information. This information is collected on a County, City, State, and Federal level, and can also come from reporting information during normal every day activities such as grocery store club cards, magazine subscriptions, voter registration, warranty cards, even fishing licenses, and forms you fill out when browsing the internet. There are thousands of ways this information gets reported.

Review: I did a background search on my son due to some legal issues. It cost 49.95. The information returned was ridiculous and very outdated. It included a cell phone number for me that was disconnected in 2007, the names and ages of 3 deceased family members listed as "relatives" (dead 1999, 2006, and 2013)incorrect addresses and, most ridiculous of all, returned absolutely no information on legal issues, even the ones that I am aware of and that can be found with a simple Google search. I complained and asked for a refund, and was told that the company "searches through billions of public records and collects every piece of relevant information". Dishonest and unethical doesn't even begin to describe the practices of this company.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of the 49.95 that the company charged for a completely bogus, useless, and falsely advertised search. Review: After contacting USA People search to locate address/phone number in NY state of a lost cousin-- supposedly free-- I was (1) given incorrect information, and (2) without my approbation, given a "trial" membership, apparently @ $16.95 monthly. Since I wished to find only one person and did not intend to use USA People search again, I did/not wish any permanent membership or membership of any kind on an ongoing basis. I will report this as fraudulent to my credit card company ([redacted] and will report USA People Search to [redacted]. People Search has rendered no meaningful service whatever and has apparently used fine print during my query to impose a "membership" without my wanting one or realizing what was happening. Review: My company has used this company for background checks for many years. We have never had a complaint. About a month ago I was attempting to do a background check under my companies account with my credit card. It would not allow me. So I used my personal email address and used my credit card for a ONE TIME only charge for a background check. Today a charge showed up on my account for some monthly fee for a membership. I did not want a membership and I made that very clear. I did not check to become a member, I only did a one time only fee for a background check. I called the customer service number and spoke to a woman who was extremely rude and refused to credit my money back. This is not how you do business. And I am recommending to my boss to cancel his account and we will use another company here as well. Treating your customers like crap isn't how you keep business. This user added two additional charges of $0.99 for a PDF version by affirmatively selecting this option during two of the four check outs. We believe this may be the source of the confusion. Including the two $0.99 PDF charges this customer’s credit card she was charged a total of six times. In conclusion, there are four charges of $39.95 not six but if the two $0.99 charges are included there are a total of six charges.

I had a terrible experience with this company today. I paid $40 for a background check. They did not turn up anything more current than 2004. I have a lot more information already than they turned up - like current phone number and address. When I called to ask for more information, the person I talked to was very rude, combative and defensive. She did nothing to address my concerns and spent all her time telling me that I wasn't doing anything right and that I had no right to any more information than they gave me. She said nothing more was available publicly but then I found more publicly right after the call. Never use this company.

Review: Searching for a person led me to the USA people search web page. The page displayed information that showed that the site has a record for the person I'm looking for. Review: I used usa-people-search.com online opt out option and it appeared that my information was blocked. It was partially blocked because when my name is typed into the Google search engine, www.usa-people-search.com pops up with a link to my name seen here http://www.usa-people-search.com/names/p/[redacted]. When you click on the link, my name, age, and city and state that I live in pops up. I am aware that websites have no control of the information that Google indexes in their search results. However, websites are responsible for information that appears on their websites. If the information is removed from their website, then it becomes a matter of when Google updates their search results to reflect that such information no longer exists on the website. However, as I stated above, my name, age, city and state are in the link I listed above. I called usa-people-search last week explaining that my information is still readily available to anyone via their website. At the time of my call there were two entries with my name. I was told they would be removed in twenty four hours.I checked the website a few days later and only one entry was removed. I called today and explained the situation to another representative. She basically was not understanding what I was saying and the conversation went nowhere because she hung up on me. No reputable business has ever hung up on me so I wonder. My point is this, these data broker websites make it uncomfortably easy for stalkers, identity thieves, and employers to know so much about you. An employer already knows how old I am before I go on an interview. Of course the representative's response is that it is illegal for employers to seek such information online. Well guess what, it is also illegal to discriminate against someone based on their race, sexual orientation and the like but that has not stopped employers from doing it. The website miss lead us that for .99 cents they would give you a report. They charged us $1.95 never gave us the report or explained how to access the report. They also charged us $14.95 for a monthly fee. When I called for help Amy the operator threatened me and said are you demanding I refund your account. I said yes, since you took the fee fraudulently. When I called back the supervisor was not much more helpful. She refunded the $14.95 but would not refund the $1.95. Since they promised a phone number search and didn't even give me a report with the accurate name. This website is a scam and I will be sure to note that on every internet site. Review: Product not as advertised! I looked at a sample of the Background report product that I was purchasing and decided to try it, but what I got was nothing like the sample. Review: I agreed to the "three day trial membership" in order to obtain an email address. I ordered the "one time only" report and was charged to email in addition to the charge for the report. When I received the report, it contained NO EMAILS whatsoever, so I then immediately (within 10 minutes of opening the account) called the number on their website and cancelled the membership entirely. I received an email today indicating that my "auto renewal" had taken place and my credit card account (checking account) had been charged for the month of service. I called to complain and indicate that I had called their company right after I set the account up and they told me that they had NO evidence that I had contacted them to cancel the membership to their site. They refused to refund my money. So for the charges of $.95 and $1.00 and $24.95, I was provided NONE of the information which I had signed up to receive as well as the fact that I CANCELLED THE ACCOUNT BY TELEPHONE IMMEDIATELY AFTER I SET IT UP!!!!!!! Really bad information. Nothing of value. The charges were high for each search and revealed nothing. The information that was available was on the wrong party / not connected with the person being investigated. Omnisearch/US Search people search is the name. It is not true that ssn provided or employment history and the search for bankruptcy revealed no information yet we knew there was a bankruptcy action. Not happy.
