Pekin represents all that is bad within the “insurance industry”They make ignorant decisions based on metrics that do not represent life’s realities and decisions that caused great stress and inconvenience to a great customerIn my line of work, if I treated my client as they have me and my family, I would be out of business before longHowever, they have the luxury of being protected from reality and the negative impact they have on others, by the sheer size and volume in numbersAfter all, why should they be concerned with the loss of one customer when they have so many at their disposal? I will tell everyone, every agent, anyone who crosses my path in life, and through every channel possible (like this one), to never consider Pekin Insurance when shopping for auto insuranceOh, and that they don’t trust the opinion and advise of their local agent either so you will have no advocate through your local agent if you run into a difficult situationI am a credible voice since I now know firsthand that when I needed Pekin most, they were not there for me, my family or my agentEven if you have never had an accident, never missed a premium payment, and as a primary provider of insurance for your family where most members of your household have impeccable driving records and no member has ever had an at fault accident, over decades of driving combined, Pekin will throw you into the flawed actuarial scrap heap of impersonal statistics and dump you when you need them mostI am not naïve, there may only be a hand full of insurance companies who actually care about their customers but I will find one and be loyal to them which is much more than I can say for PekinI will be purchasing a significant amount of auto insurance in my lifetime and you can be sure none of it will be with PekinPekin, please change your moto “Beyond the expected” since it is advertisingYou may in fact qualify as the poster child for the negative stereotype earned by much of the insurance industry and exactly what most “expect” anyway

Roof damage from storm, multiple contractors saying roof replacement, 1st adjuster said only a few shingles, below deductibleUnable to in contact with adjusterSecond adjuster (P.E.) looked at roofCannot get response on report from P.E Details are as follows: 02/28/ - storms during night, causing power outage early am 03/01/ - power continued out during morning, noticed large whole shingle on driveway with several pieces scattered about - called insurance agent to report and file claim, # xxxxxxx 03/02/ - contacted first contractor and met him at house, upon inspection he noted roof had hail damage and wind damage on all sides of roof and would need to be replaced 03/03/ - received call from adjuster stating he would be out Monday 03/16/to inspect 03/06/ - was raining Monday and forecasted to rain all day, called adjuster and he left garbled message,

On December 12th, 2017, I sent the necessary paperwork for cancellation of my commercial insurance policy I found a much better rate with another company A follphone call several days later confirmed that the policy had been canceled On December 19th, 2017, a full week after my cancellation, I was charged another month's premium to my checking account, an absurdity that has yet to be explained to me After several more phone calls, it was determined that a refund of over $was due to me It is now nearly two months later and I have yet to receive the check Pekin claims that they sent out a check sometime in January but I never received it After calling them and explaining that to them, supposedly they sent out another check I have yet to receive that either They are hours away from me and have yet to be able to process a simple refund in nearly days time Imagine now, if I had had an actual claim to file I'm entirely grateful now that I didn'

I had a business insurance policy with this companyI made a payment on my insurance policy and they instead applied to something else and then terminated my policy for nonpaymentThis is theft, misappropriation of funds, consumer fraud and unethicalThis lousy scam of a company puts REAL AMERICAN BUSINESS OWNERS at risk!!! I want my money returned and I am already signed up with an actual honest reputable company for my insurance needs

I contacted them on 9/because their insured driver hit my PARKED carAfter over days their adjuster Mary *** finally sent me a settlement in the amout of $for the cost to repair the damages in my carI put the check in the bank and my bank notified me that the funds are fraudulent/bad and the check is being returnedNow my account is overdrawn by $because of the costs associated with the returned check as well as any fee that was processed for using the moneyI will be filing a complaint/chatges against Pekin with the police and the district attorney today!

I had a horrible customer service experience with Pekin I found their processing time for my claim was very slow Pekin was not very good at following up with me I filed a claim regarding damage to my roofThe adjuster that came out didn't even bring a ladder and refused to get on my roof to inspect damage I had a roofing company there with me during the inspectionThey brought up multiple issues regarding my roof and frankly my adjuster seemed out of her league as she didn't have many answers to their concernsShe followed up by "throwing shade" on the roofing company and made me feel like I was doing something wrong by having them there The roofing company had a fairly good Revdex.com rating (B) and were very responsive to my questions and concerns A 3rd party inspector had to be called out to get on the roofI had simple follow up items which took approximately additional months to addressI tried to contact my local agent to assist and he wouldn't respond to me either although I later found out both times he had been in contact with Pekin but just never called me backPekin adjuster had made the comment she thought clear water damage on my drywall was probably just deterioration from my wood window trim I'm familiar with water damage to drywall and this was very clear cutI said lets pull the trim back and check it out she said she didnt think the window trim would pull backWhen I pulled it back with my pocket knife seconds later it was very clearly water damage All of these things caused a real uneasy feeling and I just don't trust Pekin My complaint doesn't necessarily have to do with the outcome of my claim but all of these customer service / trust issues I have laid out Why have a homeowners insurance company if they come out and try to deny your roof claim without even getting on the roof? You couldn't even see the affected area from my yard, you had to stand out in the streetI was fairly suprised the Pekin adjuster didn't even put the ladder my roofer brought out up to the house and even just climb up it to get a closer look or some pictures without going on the roof

My partner and I purchased a car insurance policy through Pekin, and were completely up front and honest in filling out all of our paperworkAfter a couple of months, we received a letter notifying us that our insurance was cancelled due to "ineligible occupation" because I am a bartender (actually, I'm an event coordinator and promotions manager for a bar, but I also tend)In any case, their policy, if not outright discriminatory, was poorly marketedIf my profession was going to be a problem, they shouldn't have sold us the policy in the first placeOur trust for Pekin and its representatives has been broken and we will not be doing business with them again

Last fall I had told my insurance agent (*** & Associates, Fox Insurance Agency, *** Steve & Rosemary Insurance, they seem to go by a lot of names and haven't been able to find them in the Revdex.com database) to cancel my policy with Pekin Insurance, I was no longer doing the labor that required this policy, a small business policy Now according to Pekin this did not happen After getting no help, and other issues with my insurance agent I have moved by insurance needs elsewhere I contacted Pekin Ins after receiving a bill and after explaining the issue, they were unwilling to help by passing it back to my agent, my agent just told me I have to pay it So today I get a call from a collections agent to pay this bill and it will report on my credit

I would not currently recommend this company for Auto InsThey cancelled my policy for not receiving the payment after they had already received my payment (full payment) and completely processed it, the check had already clearedThey sent me the cancellation notice days after cancelling my policy, cancelled 10/27/and notice sent 11/08/and my billing notice shows a due date of 10/29/This is totally unacceptable customer service and poor business management!

My husband and I paid for home and auto insurance with Pekin InsuranceMy first claim with a hit and run driver drug on and on because the agent taking care of my claim was on vacationI needed this taken care of right away as I am going in for surgery and will be out of commission for monthsOf course, there is no hurry on their partI would not recommend this company

I have auto insurance with Pekin Insuranceabout months ago my car broke down so I contacted Pekin Insurance to cancel my policyThey did not do it and now months later I notice they are still charging me for the monthly premiumThe car has been broken down in the shop for months and it does not need insurance which is why I cancelled itThey are charging $per month on a broken down carI even de-insured the car with the MVD since the car was not mobile

I cancelled my insurance on last day of policy insurance agent canceled policy while I was present there were no charges then months later I received a bill claiming I owed $I called my agent and they told me they would take care of these charges the next letter I get is a letter from a credit collections company claiming I owe the money this hurt my credit Its not much but the reason I made sure of I canceled on time is another insurance company tried to pull the same thing on me it appears as thought a common overcharge is be charged throughout the insurance industryThis is a con pulled on people leaving one company and going on to another

Attention ContractorsPekin insurance is a total rip-offThey will take your money for awhile, then drop you with claimsThey change their internal rules for contractors year to year to rid liabilityIf you make one service call out of state, your droppedDon't waste your moneyThere are a lot better and less expensive company's aroundWhen they audit you, If you want to keep your coverage, I suggest you lie if you worked out of stateTry Other Insurance CompaniesThey will cover you out of state and out of the country for less

Words of warning for those who are considering obtaining Home Owners Insurance from PekinWe have submitted a claim following additional repairs last October after the adjuster had already seen previous damage and had not seen the removal of the Plantation shutters due to water damage in the sheet rock walls from a storm in JulyThis claim was submitted in October and we heard nothing backThey were then turned into the Revdex.com and they also heard nothing backPresently we are out $for the reinstallation of Plantation Shutters and an additional $10k for windows that were damaged during the stormThere should be laws that put places like this in jail for refusal to respond or pay for damages that happen during non acts of mother natureIsn't that what Home Owners Insurance is for?

Buyer bewareIf you are even considering this insurance company, please stay awayWe had some water damage caused by an A/C technicianThe company's insurance (Pekin) was then called to take care of the damage the technician causedWe have been fighting for over a month just to get someone to physically assess the damageThe first offer to repair was just to patch holes left from the water restoration companyThe next offer was to only patch one area of a ceiling, possibly making the area look even worseEven the contractor refused to do the work because he did not want it to reflect on his companyCalls/emails takes days for responseI had to file a complaint with the Illinois A*** *** office and call a supervisor just to get an adjuster assigned to our claimI am so glad this is not our insurance company but we are stuck and will continue to fight until the job is done rightIf you want to deal with a company that delays response and makes you fight for every penny, then this is the place for youJust wanted to share our experience so others can stay far away
