Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

My name on venmo account is different from my name on my bank account for privacy purposes and does not give venmo the right to keep the money that was sent to me in my venmo account. Venmo needs to send the money back to the person who sent the money to me.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Review: My Venmo account was frozen when I tried to change bank accounts on it. I emailed customer service nearly two weeks ago since Venmo doesn't have a phone number for customer service, and so far, no response. Dead silence. With another account I have, a cashout has been stuck in pending for 4 days with no explanation. I have not violated the TOS, and all of these are personal payments to friends. This company is incredibly dysfunctional and unprofessional, downright fraudulent, and I think the [redacted] should consider shutting them down. They certainly shouldn't be licensed to operate as a money service business.Desired Settlement: Unfreeze my account, please. Or call me first. Name is [redacted].

March **, 2016 [redacted]

[redacted] RE: Revdex.com Complaint #[redacted] I am writing on behalf of PayPal, Inc. in response to your complaint regarding PayPal’s Venmo product. You state that you sent a $16.00 payment to your son’s account via Venmo but that you wish to cancel that transaction and receive a refund. Response On May **, 2015, you created a Venmo account (“Account”), at which time you agreed to the Venmo user agreement (“User Agreement”). On the same day, you added your Chase Bank account (“Bank Account”) to your Venmo Account to use as a funding source for future purchases. On February **, 2016, you sent a $16.00 payment to your recipient (“Recipient”). On March *, 2016, you contacted Venmo stating that you wished to cancel that transaction and requested to receive a full refund. Payments sent to active Venmo users are instant, which means that the money is withdrawn from your account immediately. There isn’t a way to stop the debit being made from your funding source once you’ve sent a payment to another user. Additionally, you are responsible for all funds you send through Venmo and payments cannot be canceled after they've been sent to active users. However, on March *, 2016, Venmo advised that they would contact the Recipient to let him know that you were requesting that the transaction be canceled. Venmo gave the Recipient three business days to respond to the request. On March *, 2016, Venmo reversed the $16.00 transaction from the Recipient’s account and sent the funds back to your Bank Account. Please allow up to three days for the funds to reflect back in your Bank Account. Explanation of Closure We believe that Venmo acted in good faith and in accordance with the User Agreement when processing your payment. As the $16.00 payment has been reversed back to your Bank Account, we consider this matter resolved. We offer our sincerest apologies for any difficulties you may have encountered while using our Venmo service. Please feel free to contact PayPal’s Executive Escalations Office at [redacted], should you have any questions or concerns, or if I can be of further assistance to you. Very sincerely yours, Kellie L[redacted] Executive Escalations Tell us why here...

Review: On 1/*/16 I received $163.09 in my Venmo account and subsequently withdrew that amount to my linked bank account. Shortly thereafter, I received a notice from Venmo stating that my account was frozen due to "unusual activity". As attempts to contact Venmo through the normal channels (the Contact Us link on their website and through the customer support chat in their Android app) were completely fruitless in the past, filing a Revdex.com complaint is the only avenue I know of that Venmo actually responds to.Desired Settlement: A deposit in the amount of $163.09 in my bank account.

Response:

Hello, Thank you for your patience while we reviewed this complaint rebuttal. Please see our attached response to the customer complaint for case #[redacted]. We have reviewed the user complaint and have determined that the funds were disputed by his payment partner, which resulted in Venmo not receiving funds to process the bank transfer. A comprehensive review of the activity on this user's account has resulted in the decision to no longer offer this user the Venmo service. Feel free to contact me in the event you have any questions. -- Leanna Disputes Program Manager

Review: As stated with current Revdex.com complaints. I made a payment that was deducted from my bank account that is attached to my Venmo account. The intended receiver never received the funds. My account was then frozen by Venmo. I have had little to no assistance from Venmo support and still don't know where my money is.Desired Settlement: I would like my money returned that was held by Venmo and never delivered to my intended receiver.

[redacted] Venmo, LLC (“Venmo”) is in receipt of [redacted] ([redacted]) complaint received via the Revdex.com dated December **, 2015 regarding Venmo. Please find our response to his concerns below as well as background on Venmo. Venmo is a domestic person-to-person payments service that allows individual Venmo users to send or request payment from each other using our mobile application or through our website. Venmo prefunds payments using its own funds in order to make funds available to Venmo recipients faster than otherwise would be possible. However, in the event that the funds are not received by Venmo from the payee’s financial institution (for example, due to a chargeback or insufficient fund return), Venmo will not allow the recipient to receive the payment (since the payment failed). [redacted] claims that his payment recipient did not receive the funds [redacted] attempted to transfer on December *, 2015. Venmo records show that multiple security flags were raised when a review of the payment was conducted. Based on this review, on December **, 2015, Venmo made the decision to reverse these funds back [redacted] original payment instrument. Based on this information, Venmo believes that this complaint has been successfully resolved. Regards, Venmo Compliance [redacted]

Review: On November [redacted] I transferred 1970.00 to Bank. Website said money would be deposited November the [redacted]. It still says that expected arrival November [redacted]. No money transferred, bank said nothing was ever sent. What's worse is since then, (because the company has NO PHONE NUMBER) I have emailed 13 times, signed up for a [redacted] account and sent 5 [redacted] messages, done 4 online chats from their website NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHERE THE MONEY WENT, NOT ONE RESPONSE!!!? How are the in business or better yet not in jail? One person replied to a [redacted] message and said "[redacted]." otherwise NOT ONE REPLY. Again, how can Venmo be in business. If there is an issue how come they cant say why, or reply or DO ANYTHING? Or return the money to the sender? It is really unbelievable. Again, if there is an issue how can they just take money and not give it back, and still show online that the money was supposed to be sent. It is like the company and the money just disapearred.Desired Settlement: Finish the Job

email and [redacted] as a means of support/communication for their customers.Desired Settlement: IMMEDIATE completion of deposit, and an apology for ignoring all my communications

[redacted] Please be aware that Venmo offices have moved from its previous location of [redacted] to its new location at [redacted]. [redacted]

Venmo LLC (“Venmo”) is in receipt of [redacted]’s (“[redacted]”) complaint received via the Revdex.com dated 08/**/2014 and 9/*/2014 regarding his complaint of non-receipt of funds. Please find our response to his concerns below.

Venmo is a P2P payments service that allows its users to send or request payments via text or email to other individuals. These actions are only processed by Venmo, based on the initial request made by a Venmo user and if funds are available from the funding method in question.

Upon further review of the Revdex.com complaint letter received for [redacted], he claims that he received an email confirmation noting the expected deposit date for the funds in question. Venmo records show the sender’s initial payment method did not have sufficient funds in the designated bank account to process the payment.

As such, Venmo could not process [redacted]’s deposit of the funds, and was [redacted] advised of such by Venmo’s Fraud group on 8/**/2014.

Please be advised that Venmo’s Fraud and Compliance group has conducted an investigation on [redacted]’s account, as well as the other related Venmo accounts in question, and have chosen to exercise our right to terminate our relationship with [redacted].

Review: I attempted to transfer money to my fiance through Venmo. I inadvertently charged her the amount I was going to sent her, so I immediately followed that request with one to send her the same amount to effectively cancel the prior transaction. This resulted in Venmo freezing our accounts, but not before they had removed the money from my fiance's account. So now she no longer has the money I inadvertently requested and I have no way to get it or repay her, as I had attempted to do. They requested documents, IDs and bank statements. This would be fine but time was of the essence or I would have originally just wrote her a check. A total of 11 emails between myself and my fiance went unanswered for over 24 hours. The company has no know phone number to contact, so you are at the mercy of their email response. They use twitter or email for customer support. Explaining the situation to support resulted in a carbon copy response to submit the requested documents from a "[redacted]". This seems to be the generic signature in every response. After a couple rounds of email back and forth, over 2 days, they agree to cancel the request and just return the money to my fiance's Venmo account for her to recoup the funds. This seemed acceptable until it took two more days to return to her account after cashing it out from Venmo. The day it was finally returned to her Venmo contacted her again to tell her she owes the company the amount she just cashed out, per their fix. Their reasoning, I have the same amount of money, as she just removed, to cash out of my account. They cannot even follow their own transactions they supposedly canceled to return her the money. Furthermore, their claim that I have this money available to me to cash out is false. There is nothing in my account and they insist she owes money. So now we are stuck waiting to email them to resolve alleged debt, which is the result of their poor accounting in their correction.Desired Settlement: This company, dealing with financial instruments, should be forced to have a phone contact option. Their inefficiency in response time and botched corrections when is "resolved" could easily be alleviated by a simple phone conversation. This system likely serves them well as they just hold the money, where they may invest and move it around during a drawn out resolution.

[redacted] Venmo LLC (“Venmo”) is in receipt of [redacted]’s (“[redacted]”) complaint received via the Revdex.com dated 2/*/2015. [redacted]’s complaint references billing and collection issues. Please find our response to his concerns below as well as background of Venmo. Venmo is a domestic person-to-person payments service that allows individual Venmo users to send or request payment from each other using mobile or website applications. Payments may be funded with a credit or debit card, a bank account or a Venmo balance. Venmo makes funds available instantly to Venmo recipients. Received funds can be withdrawn to a US bank account or sent to other Venmo users. These actions are only processed by Venmo, based on the initial request made by a Venmo user and if funds are available from the funding method in question for that Venmo account. Venmo prefunds payments initiated, however in the event that the funds are not received from the payees designated financial institution, Venmo will attempt to recover the funds from another funding source to prevent a loss to Venmo. As the complaint states, [redacted] confirms he erroneously charged his payment partner. Venmo records show this charge was occurred on 1/**/2015 which resulted in Venmo prefunding the payment. To address this error, [redacted] immediately initiated a $1,500 payment back to his payment partner. These subsequent payments raised flags in the Venmo system and resulted in restrictions being placed on the [redacted]’s Venmo account as a security measure. Venmo records show that all inquiries related specifically to [redacted]’s Venmo account were addressed within the same day. [redacted]’s complaint demands Venmo to offer a phone option. Venmo does not currently offer phone support as we are a small team, however strives to answer inquires within a timely manner. Upon review of this complaint, Venmo maintains that any restrictions placed on Venmo accounts or payments are a security measure to keep the Venmo service a safe way to make payments, and feels that its overall same day response to [redacted]’s inquiries was within a timely manner. Regards, Venmo Compliance [redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: An attempted money transfer to me through Venmo was not processed by Venmo. They kept my funds and did not transfer them to my bank, Soveriegn, in New York City. They have ignored my letters and return my e mails with a 'cannot reply' automated email. Furthermore, they are not available by phone; they have NO customer service phone and no way to resolve this egregious error which I believe is entirely their responsibility, that is costing me dearly. The complaint issue no. is: [redacted]. My associated Venmo email is [redacted]. My associated phone number or user ID is ###-###-####. At this time, I am unable to access my account and there is no way provided to request a password.Desired Settlement: This needs to be resolved immediately. All I am asking is that a rep. from Venmo contact me by phone or email, see above, and explain how they intend to transfer the funds to my bank.

was able to provide the necessary information for her Venmo account to be

necessary next steps needed for [redacted]’s inquiry. No additional response

was ever received from [redacted] and thus a follow-up email was sent on

11/**/15 notifying her of this. A review of [redacted]’s

complaint regarding the funds she claims are being held, show that the transfer

[redacted] may have not provided a valid bank account information, which

resulted in the initiated transfer to fail. The funds remain on her open and

active Venmo account based on this information.Venmo Support has reached

out to [redacted] today, 12/**/2015, on the matter and recommends for [redacted] to confirm her bank

account information and contact Venmo Support in the event that she has any

Review: I am currently using Venmo to pay my friends and roommates for groceries, rent, etc. One day, Venmo freezes my account without a warning. I have funds in my Venmo account that I need to use to pay for rent and bills, which is now "frozen" and I am unable to use it in any way. I tried contacting Venmo through their chat, they said they will forward my issue to a different department. I emailed Venmo, they have not responded to me for over 5 days. Their phone number is non-existent and their customer service might be ran by one (1) person, whoever that is. Now I have funds stuck in the account that I can't withdraw, no money to pay for my rent, and this has caused much emotional distress.Desired Settlement: I would like to withdraw or receive the funds in my account.
