Review: This company promised gas supply cost lower than [redacted] Electric. After a few years their supply cost was double than [redacted]!! I cancelled them in March 2014 but it took 2 months to get rid of them! I sent an analysis of my overcharge and wanted them to reimburse me the $166.00 but only got $38.25!! What a Ripoff!Desired Settlement: I am looking for my additional overcharge amount of $ 128.00!

[redacted],

I reviewed your recent inquiry.

Your

account was on a variable rate offer. Your rate did not increase for

almost 3 years before increasing due to significant increases in energy

supply costs, not all of which

were passed on to Verde customers. As explained by our customer support

staff in April, your billing adjustment check for

$38.25 lowered the rate for your 3/24/14 bill to $0.1075/KWH and this

rate was also used for your final bill on 4/24/14.

Regards,

Verde Energy USA

Don't go with the company. After the grace period is over your bills go sky high.
Was never told about any grace period now my bills have doubled.

Review: First off, I never chose this company and was switched without my knowledge, approval or any notification. Secondly, I was put on a variable rate which I also did not chose or want. In trying to contact Verde Energy I would be put on hold waiting 10-15 minutes with no one ever answering, and it took many calls before I finally spoke with someone.I asked to cancel my service with Verde and was then offered a much lower fixed rate. However, after being gouged for the past few months I had enough of Verde. I was told it would take a couple of days for them to send the cancellation request to the electric company. I called my electric company a week later to see if they had gotten the request from Verde Energy to be removed as my supplier, they said they had not. They said they could initiate a request from their end, which they did, but the transition would not take place until the next billing cycle, since the new cycle was just started.Seems that Verde Energy knew that and chose not to put the request through or at least delay it so they could gouge me a couple more months. My rate had been a steady 11 cents/kw for the 14 months before, then it started going up, way up, first to 13 cents, then 14 cents, then 18 cents and finally 19 cents per kilowatt. My February electric bill was $880, with $623 of it going to Verde Energy, the LowCostPower company. For the same month my neighbor was charged only 8 cents/kw by the electric company as supplier, 18 and 19 cents/kw is over twice that. Low cost power? No, extremely high cost power! We are elderly folks on a fixed income and find these extremely high rates very offensive, if not criminal, and would simply like to be reimbursed for difference for those months the rates went up from 11 cents we had been paying, namely October of 2013 through April of 2014.Hoping this can be resolved quickly and amicably, publicly or privately, so there is no need of further action.Desired Settlement: Reimbursement for the amount overpaid for the months stated, the difference between 11 cents/kw and what was charged by Verde Energy.

Mr. Rudowski,

Currently, Their rates are 2 cents higher than the electric company. I thought this company was supposed to save you money. There are no cancellation fees, so that's a plus. If you do have Verde, check back often, if you are locked in and their rates go down, they will recalculate to the lower rate for the remainder of your lock in period which is usually 6 months. Make sure to check back before your 6 months is up, because your rates will go up significantly. You have to be proactive with your rates and know the competition as you really can save money. I have been with them a while as their rates have generally been lower than [redacted], up until now. I'm back to [redacted]. I guess all the negative reviews are making it difficult for them to compete with the electric company prices. I'm not going to give a negative review because I hope they can get back to their better prices. Maybe new customers are getting better rates, so I will recommend. Other companies are offering lower rates, but they charge cancellation fees up to $100 so that's one plus for Verde.

Review: I have signed up with Verde Energy because they were provided get rates and I was saving money. This was true at the beginning but it seems that they are charging at higher rate than [redacted] They been charging me high rate for couple of months now ... I just realized that they charged my higher rates and been paying average of $40 more (0.1771/Kwh)with them for at least couple of months and $20 more before those couple of months. The rate 0.1771 is pretty high compared to 0.113657 I could have gotten with my original provider. I am not happy with this higher rates. I am just upset that I didn't realized this was happening sooner. I have already compared 4 previous bills and lost about $140 by staying with Verde. This amount is probably even bigger if I looked into additional months. I am upset that Verde has been charging more for months and I haven't noticed this till now. I am really not happy with Verde and how they advertising that you will save and than they end up charging you more. NOTE: When I signed up for Verde, the rate was 0.099.Desired Settlement: I think the 0.1771 rate is unfair when my previous company is offering energy at a lower rate. When I signed up, the rate was 0.099 and now getting charged at 0.177.1 rate. This is unfair. I been paying more with this company for months and would like to get refund (difference) amount.

Mr. Patel,

Review: I have made several calls to this company regarding a budget plan and to find out why my rates are so high. I keep getting the run around. Sure, they lowered my rates, said I will get a rebate and a budget in the mail. Other than the rate change, I have not received any other information. I asked to speak to a manager and I'm told they have no direct line and it takes up to 5 days. It's been two weeks! I'm very upset with how this is handled and processed, which that is what they are telling me about my rebate check. I guess it's been processed for over a week now. This is poor billing customer service and I want it resolved as soon as possible. My electric I snowing threaten to be turned off and I don't have enough income to pay the high rates. I'm a single, white mom who does work!Desired Settlement: I would like this settled as to which they said it would. With the rebate check to me this week!

Hi Ann,

Review: I was told that I would save money on my electric bill each month if I signed up with Verde Energy

However, their rate is .1124, whereas AC is .0905.

Review: After a sales representative called my house and said that I would save on my Electric Bill, I agreed to sign up with Verde Energy. After thoroughly inspecting my electric bill, and after calling my previous supplier, my electric bill was higher after using less electric. My previous supplier quoted me their current rate at $.0905; while Verde Energy's current rate is $.1124. TELL ME: WHERE IS MY SAVINGS? Verde Energy is misrepresenting information to their companies and I don't want others to get ripped off. This company lies to you so you will sign up with them. I am looking for a large refund that incorporates the difference and my savings that I did not receive after signing with them; my first meter reading was on or after 3/27/2013. Even after calling their representative she said that my previous supplier's rate was higher than the $.0905, so their information is not correct and they are selling incorrect information to people over the phone.

Overcharged

6/1/13 to 7/1/13 Verde: .1124 / AC Electric: .0905 /usage XXXX -XX.56

7/11/2013 to 8/12/13 Verde: .1124 / AC Electric: .0905 /usage XXXX -XX.51

Total overage: $77.07

Desired Settlement: A refund for $125.00

Below is a copy of the email that was sent to Ms. [redacted]:

Ms [redacted],

I received a copy of your recent Revdex.com inquiry.

You originally enrolled your ACE account with Rescom Energy and your account was assigned to Verde Energy by Rescom Energy as provided for in Rescom's customer agreement. All Rescom customers received notice of this assignment in a letter dated 2/5/13 and as part of the assignment Verde lowered the supply rate to all former Rescom customers. A copy of this letter is attached for reference.

The Residential Price to Compare for ACE was $0.1171/KWH thru June of this year so you saved money on your bills up to that point. The PTC did decrease to $0.0905/KWH in June, an unusually low rate that is expected to increase back to historical levels. Although there is not a guarantee of a low rate in your offer as a sign of good will Verde will issue you a check in the amount of $85 which represents the difference in your rate through your recent billing period. You will receive this check within 2 weeks.

Regards,

Review: A few months ago I had noticed that Verde's low rate had jumped - basically doubled - and we had not been notified. When I questioned it they refunded the difference. I was told at the time that we would be at this rate for 6 months and that after 5 months they would contact us to see if we wanted to stay once the rate was again increased. I just noticed that for the past two months we were back at the higher rate (.1899) and had never been notified and given the opportunity to cancel the contract. I called to complain and cancel the contract immediately. I was told that this would not be a problem but that it would take 1 or 2 billing cycles before it went through.

I consider what they did a form of bait and switch. Right now their rate is almost double that of my local provider. The representative for Verde asked if I wanted to stay on with a 4 month fixed rate that would be lower than my local provider. In other words they were trying to keep me on, not notify me again when it would be raised, and be able to collect a much higher rate for a couple of months. I am sure after reading other complaints that they are doing well financially by catching people off guard.

I consider this company to be unethical.Desired Settlement: I feel that they owe me the difference for the past two months because I was not notified and for any additional months until I am dropped from their account.

Review: I have made 7 call to Verde Energy since March 18, 2015 (last call today, April 24) regarding billing errors. I provided detailed information on the billing error and expected refund. Was told during each call that the billing department would call me back in 5 business days. I have not heard from the billing department in over 30 days. I did receive a partial refund, but not what was expected. I have escalated the call to [redacted] and [redacted], supervisors of the service center. Neither one can put me directly in touch with the billing department to discuss the billing errors and refund.Desired Settlement: I am expecting the following:

February billing rate deferential of $20.92 [$0.02/Kwh x 1046kh]

March billing rate deferential of $42.20 [$0.04/Kwh x 1055kh]

Less the refund check received $10.55

Net refund due to me of $50.57

Replied via email directly to customer on 4/24/15:

Review: In November/December 2014, I received notification from Verde that they would no longer be supporting budget based billing and that my monthly fee was going to increase for the next 6 months to make up for the difference in budget to actual that I owed. On the next bill I received from my utility company I was billed a lump sum charge of $340.81 from Verde. I called Verde to find out what this was about and to have them send me a detail statement of what made up these charges. I then proceeded to cancel my service with Verde. Once I received the statement in the mail I was surprised to find out that I was being charged budget billing adjustments back to a service start date of 10/22/2011! In addition I was charged a flat amount of $148 identified as an energy charge from 11/15/14 to 12/15/14. I contacted Verde and the customer service rep I spoke with was no help and said she didn't know how to explain the charges. I called again to get another representative and I was told that someone from the billing department would get back to me in an email. I did receive an email however, it did not explain the $148 charge and informed me that once I cancel service that I would be billed for all of the prior budget to actual billing adjustments. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that this company would wait until someone cancels service and then decide to charge them for all those years of adjustments. I am being being for 3 years worth of adjustments that is crazy! Why would they not make those adjustments on an annual basis just as the utility companies do. How could they let their customer continue to accrue those balances. I am extremely disappointed in this surprise bill that I received and do not plan to recommend their services.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the prior 2 years adjustments, as those should have been adjusted each year which equals $145.83 and the $148 flat rate energy charge from 11/15/14/-12/15/14. A total refund of $293.83.

Response:

responded via email directly to customer on 4/16/15:Dear [redacted], This email is in response to the complaint you filed with the Revdex.com. Verde Energy looks at each budget billing account every February, if the customer is using more than their calculated average, we increase their budget. We updated your budget from $68/month to $83/month in February of 2014. Your balance was not calculated from the very beginning of your start with Verde, but our customer service representative provided you with the information for the life of your account with us, for your information. When we re-assessed your budget amount in February of 2014, it was taking into consideration the amount that you underpaid in 2013, and recalculated using the variable rate that we offered at that time. As you may remember, the winter of 2014 was extremely cold and the cost of electricity rose drastically during that time. Your budget did not cover the extreme increases in variable rate electricity costs. As a courtesy, we have calculated a $48.37 refund which is for the difference in rate from your three highest bills. (.1878/kwh rate, down to .1099 rate.) I have also processed the $50 rebate that was available for you to take advantage of during the first 6 months of your being a Verde customer. You should receive both of those checks in the mail within 15 business days.[redacted]Customer Support | Verde Energy USA[redacted]

Review: When I was initially called by Verde Energy there was a promise the rates will never be higher than the comparable rate from the local utility. This was followed up in writing with their "Terms and Conditions". Paragraph number one states precisely:

"1. Price: Customer will receive electricity from Verde at a monthly variable generation rate. Customer agrees and understands that the rate may fluctuate with month to month market conditions. Effective rate will not be higher than the comparable rate from your local utility."

There is no expiration on this statement. For the last few months, the Verde rate was almost twice the local utility rate. Unfortunately, due to these contract terms, I didn't check their rates every month and missed this until a competitor called. I hope to settle this by this complaint rather than making this a civil case.Desired Settlement: They need to live up to their contract terms and refund the over billing for the last several months.

Review: I placed a call on 12/24 to what I thought was Verizon Wireless. I later I realized dialed off by one number and was scammed. The man on the phone claimed to be from Verizon and wanted to offer me some "Deals". I did NOT authorize any billing to occur. I almost did and then said no as he told me we were mid-authorization on a recorded line I told him no I do NOT approve. He told me I had to call my bank at this point. I called my bank 4 times since then. I have been charged 3 times (once monthly since January). Each time they charge my credit card they use a different name which makes it difficult for my bank to block the charges. I have called Verde Energy twice and each time they tell me I am canceling my service which is not true. Bottom line: They are using different names to charge my account monthly (charges which were never authorized).Desired Settlement: I would like Verde Energy to never charge me again and refund me.

Dear [redacted],

Review: My services were originally with [redacted]which verde took over. At time mine was a variable rate which stayed in line with [redacted] rates. Verde took over with their own variable rate and my bills were incredibly high. I called verde in February to switch to fixed. It never happened. My last bill had a charge of over 160 and we weren't even home for ten of the 30 days. When I called to complain. The attitude was an "oh well. Nothing can be done". I even pointed out their pricing was double of [redacted]. And no effort whatsoever to try and save the service. So I asked them to cancel and I would move back to[redacted]. The bill should have been closer to the [redacted] billing of $96.00. Certainly not 162+ dollarsDesired Settlement: Refund of difference between variable and fixed

Review: [redacted]We have used Verde for our electric energy supply for several years on the assumption that their rates were good and fixed. On a recent website by them, they advertised rates at .0869 along with the terms "lock into historic low rates" and "low fixed rate" Our UI statement dated 3/21/14 seemed high, so we checked and noted the rage at .1599, not .0869. We called Verde on 3/24/14 to complain and spoke with [redacted]. She said that the rate becomes variable after 6 months. She said there was some small print to that effect, though it does not appear on their website currently. She also said she would adjust our rate back to .0869 to be reflected on the total next bill. When we received our April 21 bill, the rate was still at .1599. We then called and spoke to Faith on 4/28/14.She said that she would take us down to the .0869 rate for the next total bill. She also said she would send our request for a refund of overpayment to "billing" and they would call us in 4 days. It is now 5/8/14, ten days later, and they still have not called us. We calculate our loss at $267 which is overcharges from 1/21/14 of $30, overcharge from 2/21/14 bill of $80, overcharge from the 3/21/14 bill of $86, overcharge from the 4/22/14 bill of $90, totalling $286 minus $25 refund sent by [redacted] for a net refund of $261.Desired Settlement: We are entitled to a refund of at least $261 to cover the overcharges for that period. We also expect the rate to stay at .0869 for the next month's bill and ongoing for at least the six months we were told. It would be nice if they added the $75 to that amount, since they advertise on their website that amount for using on their services. At a minimum, we are requesting $261.

Mr. Schneider,

I have reviewed your Revdex.com inquiry and inquiry with our customer support group.

Review: I was contacted by Verdes Energy their representative stated that my rates would be $.07 cheaper per kwh than what I was currently paying through Pene

My rates were by no means $.07 cheaper per KWH. It is actually double my current rate with Penelec. Not to mention, when I attempted to contact them at the number listed on the paperwork, it was disconnected. I immediately contacted Penelec and advised them of the issues and they removed me from the Verdes Energy program. It is impossible to discuss any concerns I have with them about their rates as to what I was quoted, due to being unableto contact them.Desired Settlement: due to the fact that their rates were not cheaper as they proclaimed and that I was misinformed rate information and they misrepresented themselves and their products, I see only fit that the amount of $83.00, be removed from my bill. This is totally an unacceptable way of doing business. CSR's,should NOT take it upon themselves to misinform rate quotes to get their quota of customer switches. This is very unprofessional.

Review: A TELEMARKETER FROM THIS COMPANY CALLED MY HOME IN EARLY APRIL/MAY 2014 AND SPOKE W/ MY FATHER ABOUT SAVING COSTS ON ENERGY. THEY REPRESENTED THEMSELVES AS SOMEONE WHO WORKS FOR [redacted]. IN NOVEMBER I LOOK AT MY [redacted] STATEMENT AND RECEIVED A STATEMENT FROM VERDE PROVIDING INFORMATION ON MY ENERGY SUMMARY. Review: I received a flyer in the mail from Verde Energy and decided to give them a try. They gave a $75 rebate, and I think that I know why. I checked my next energy bill with their charges on it and it shows that my bill more than doubled from what my previous bill was with my regular supplier. My billing summary stated that my charges were $189 higher this month than they were last month for "non energy" charges. I called my energy company and they said that if I hadn't chosen Verde, the $189 would not exist on my bill. I am FURIOUS with Verde and think that they are a bunch of crooks. I cancelled a couple days after I realized this and they told me that it will take a couple more bills to completely cancel! I cannot afford to do this! I demand not to be charged! The billing practices with Verde are very unethical and very unprofessional. I checked on the 83 billing complaints they already have and most of them are stating what I am stating here. They were all getting bills that are twice as high than they were before Verde. If my bills are not excused, I will share my complaint as well as all of the others on every social media outlet that I can get my hands on. I also have a benefit at work that allows for free legal counsel and will also seek that if the bills are not excused.Desired Settlement: Zero my bills, otherwise I will seek third party assistance.
